My TMS200 came with several regular flat dry flexible sensors. The liquid temp sensors were bought separately. I suppose I could drill out the AC sensor, there is enough material there to still be mechanically sound. But it would be too much trouble for dubious gain. I pretty much bought it out of novelty, I'm not sure if it will be used. :shrug:

Rad will be in the drive bays. I won't have an optical drive...for now. I think the last time I actually handled a CD or DVD was installing Vista. Or ripping a CD or something.

Sorry for the late reply. The male-female is 12mm. In case you're curious the female-female fitting is 18mm (yeah I got that one too, same reason as above).

Work has been killer for the last few weeks, but now that the contract I was working on is more or less wrapped up (just in time for Christmas, whew), I should have the time to come back to this worklog. At the same time I have received some more of the parts and fittings I was waiting on, with some more still enroute. What's coming up? Some light painting, some uh...mounting (;)), some drilling into things that shouldn't be drilled...No photos in today's update unfortunately but I do hope you stay tuned.

Primer'd! small update

Koolance res brackets, sanded + 1 primer coat so far. Just so happens the primer I'm using is red but that won't be the final shade. Close though.

That's the plan. Although I still have several [ed: many] trial-and-error steps to work out the kinks in the soldering/brazing process before putting a $130 limited-stock rad under the proverbial knife. It's a small mod but nonetheless one that could be RAD-ically fatal.

Alright now, I hope I'm not setting myself up for embarrassment but here's a sketch of my front panel idea (done in MSWord2007 ffs). It's clearly not up to the bar set by others here with their fancy renders and .CAD and sketchups...grumble grumble...

Idea is to have 2 layers: Solid white layer in front and painted red mesh layer behind. I'd say I'm 90% set on the overall design, although the individual cuts and proportions may be tweaked later to suit my whack sense of aesthetics. Red circles are LEDs.

I like the idea of the frontpanel but be carefull not to make it too much hmm.. don't know how exactly to say this but I think it should be kept laconic and elegant. That "capella" word and red dots don't look like solid image right now imho

Thanks for the input man. I *kinda* see what you mean...but not well enough to improve the design. If it's not too much to ask can you elaborate a bit more? Do you mean it should be simplified a bit more? Any suggestions how I can do that, or which design elements I should reconsider?

yeah, I mean a bit simplier, but it can appear to look different when produced as a real part :shrug:

I am not sure I understand details of your conception right,
how do you plan to put the letters on? spraypaint with the pattern, some kind of printing?
Letters are fine, may it will be better if they are not so eyecatching (for example engrave them and then just paint over with white)

Anyway that's how I imagine it:
Two on the left show panel without red dots, letters painted glossy black or in some other way you intended to use.
One on the right hand side is same to your but letters painted black. To my mind LEDs are too much there, simple glossy red squares instead would be great.

And some more... Did you planned any gap between solid white and red mesh? If not, I would like to suggest you the following (not sure it is possible to produce in metal though :D)

As for the front panal, I like it.
The red mesh reminds me of the inside of reflectors.
As for the name, I would like to see "Capella" cut out, with back lit led lighting.

Why do you like adding the gap between the mesh and the faceplate? Why not put them smack-against each other?

Gap is not so big, 5mm or so. For some reason I imagine it like this :shrug: that's just my suggestion

A small update to wrap up 2009...

These fittings are almost never seen: G1/8 to G1/4 adapters...there are no mainstream G1/8 products that I know of so God bless BP for making them and Sidewinder for stocking them. I bought 3 total in case of screwups. The one in the back, I filed away the "lip" of the o-ring recess, a couple mm off the threaded portion, and filed away the threads themselves. More on this later, stay tuned. :)

I think it's more of an "A Team maneuver", they always seem to have a Oxy/Acetylene touch handy and kibbler or is it really face, does have a blow touch in the work log. :rofl:

Yeah Bentleya, the photo that Kibbler has given us as a teaser is just like the ones in your link, however I think Kibbler's in down on the left hand side a bit.

I just see the whole blow touch thing, soldering that modded fitting to the side of a rad and then using that sli fitting to conect the pump.
Like Kibbler has Quoted "SLI fittings that I will use in the pump setup.

Blow touch turns up, video on building rads, choped down fitting, all we need now is flux and solder. :yepp:

Yeah, I might be totally way off, wouldn't be the first time.:ROTF:

I must admit I have thought about it to, if the rad want play nicely together in my design they might end up getting the chop as well. :rofl:
