I am using TG Xtreem 3 3 3 8 PC5300 , at 4 4 4 12 35(TRFC) and all other setting in auto
and I am giving them 2.3V @ 480 1:1. NB voltage was 1.55 and vfsb was 1.4V.
But there's something going on. With the same settings I can boot to windows and run 1 or 2 hours of orthos blend, reboot and i can't even run 3 sec, and it's a memory problem all the times, perhaps it's the auto sub timmings the reason of this.:stick: Does the same thing happens to you people?
@ Eva what sub timmings do you think that are apropriate to run my memories @485 4 4 4 12 ? Thanks
OMG dinos, you're right!
This P5K board is very choosy for memory's.. Today Ive make a last try with the board before the guarantee application, with a memory what you tested too, Corsair Dominator PC8500, and the board give me signal :D
So Im testing it now, and compared to my Commando, but in one thing Im sure, Quad Core's overclocks very well in this board, my max fsb like in the Commando w/ boxed cooler was 480mhz :toast:
:toast:
I will push it more on Vapo LS, and see more max fsb, w/ Commando I cant reach more than 500-505, but I like very much this little "ugly betty" :D
oh and one more thing: pencil vmod works correctly: before: 1.35v (with enabled cpu volt damper) give real 1.30v idle and 1.26 load  after the pencil I set 1.30 and its real 1.30 at load too.
ram compatibility is a joke :D I use 0406 bios, but why the D9GMH based ADATA 8500 modules dont boot I will never know
I have got something to share with you all:
VDimm Mod, VMCH Mod. & measure points.

the cell shock pc 8000 4-4-4-12 works on this mobo?
I'm going to be testing out 4x1GB Buffalo FireStix PC2-6400 D9GMH and 2x1GB Crucial PC2-8000 Ballistix Tracer so I guess I'll see how those fare when my board gets here.
Does anyone know how the raid performance is compared to the p965?
hi
i need the link to download de last bios of the P5K DELUXE/WIFI
helpme please :D
board volts = auto
i also have a 12hr orthos run @ 470x8 stock volts
love this board

0304 is beta or final?
How are Asus motherboards; any cold boot issues?
any results yet?? :D
I have also seen some older ram not working in my board, like my XMS Pro with LED.
Voltage damper does work, droop is elimintaed.
Restart problem for phase change users still exist on Asus boards.
With stock NB sink my board is topping out at 550FSB

Thanks info guys
I dont suppose anyones got the Asus P5K Deluxe with OCZ 9200 Reapers? would like to see if it's compatable. . . .
So is the P35 better than 975X? or worth the upgrade/change now, or wait for new boards/chipsets to come out? From some reviews theyve said its 4-5% faster on DDR2, any input?
Thanks
For quad cores the new chipsets are best, I am going back through DDR2 now.
I can set 1Ghz ram @ 500 FSB and 4-4-4-15 boost enabled, playing with cores and bus speeds now.
Just noticed two cores enabled on above shot, I will fix @ higher clock.
any links to these betas?

Just wondering if anyone has tested the raid performance.
lol you been funny or something? it's on that website link you posted above for the P5K Deluxe:- http://www.ixtremtek.com/ixtek/Hardw...eluxe-0307.ROM
Those are Anandtech results, not mine:
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...oc.aspx?i=2991
SPI results are not that good, but gaming tests are.
Any one know if the Mushkin XP2 8500 (D9MGH) will works on this board or the Deluxe , since there are some rumors that these boards are pretty RAM picky!
@@@@NELLY
i have p5k dlx and OCZ FLEX 9200 and working VERY well
1188 a 2.25 V
Tested my corsair 9136 and worse. need morevolts to do the same...
ocz work also at 1200 with 2.25
at 1270 need certainly more volts bec errors at test 5 on memtest
So i'm happy with theses rams, and absolutly cold !!! i ise a corsair fan on it btw....
Guys, got big prob...
My P5k DLX works fine except one thiny thing...
My mems wont go higher than 1060.
Got two pairs of sticks: Gskill Hz 6400 & Crucial AE.
No mather witch bios/div/Vmem/Vmch/timing/etc i`ll use, always gets that same - freez(setFSB)/no boot(bios).
Any idea ?
anyone knows if asus gonna have bios that support 1:1? can't boot on my 533 rams
why you say it doesn't have 1:1?
ok found the "bug"
any fsb below 295 it will not show 1:1. thats why all 533 stick can't boot. If using native 333fsb cpu I believe should have no problem.
If you have access to another motherboard, reprogram the spd on your 533 sticks to support 667. Then they'll boot fine.
i have to test this but from initial findings the new chipset is certainly not faster in any way..........if anything it is a little slower BUT BUT BUT BUT i have to tweak the :banana::banana::banana: out of the bios first before i can say that comfortably
Wesley is a great reviewer and i respect his opinion. I do think that the review is a little misleading because of the settings used and they are spelt out by the reviewer clearly, however, people are freaking lazy and they see the damn graphs like the guy in this thread  and post it as evidence
that's the problem here
but once again i would trust Anandtech's reviews more than any other site as long as the testing methodology is sound :) :)
hi
New bios P5K Deluxe on ftp Asus ;>
0311
:D :D
I really enoy their reviews and technical articles. Yet sometimes their results are different than any other site ;)
They made some interesting new tests with the kingston low latency dd3 memory which sounds methodically correct to me.
Keep in mind that SPI tests basically dont show differences.
0311.................added Command Rate 1T/2T
I know gravedigger said he was gonna post his results a couple of posts back but can anyone confirm if Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2 Desktop Memory works for the P5K. Just jumped on the deal since it was $85 after MIR at buy.com
Crucial doesn't show it as one of there 40 compatible memory upgrades for either of these ASUS P5K motherboards:
ASUS P5K Motherboard
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=P5K
ASUS P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP Motherboard
http://www.crucial.com/store/listpar...e%2FWiFi%2DAP#
If there 2GB DDR2-1067 kit does then why wouldn't there 2GB DDR2-800 kit work?
I've noticed that about a month ago they've stopped recommending PC2-6400 modules by default. You need to select this speed manually.
Open that URL, then in the left-hand side column called "Refine my choices"
select [v] Speed:DDR2 PC2-6400/DDRII-800
Viola! BL2KIT12864AA804 DDR2 PC2-6400 • 4-4-4-12 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR2-800 • 2.2V • SLI-Ready • 128Meg x 64
Is there and available.

Well, i can tell you ram is still working
So, i have only 2 sticks, and set to 2.25 in bios and memory setting to auto
now i will try 0311 bios
And pb with X6800 don't do more than 3800 approximatly stable and don't like high fsb too
maybe will be better with 6850.....
how does this board work with ballistix, 6400 and 8500 variants? 2x1gb of it.
Also what are this boards main advantages over the 965 dark etc.? From what I've read it seems to be better for clocking quad cores and penryn support?
Hi,which slot advised for the Creative X-fi?
not until you test it but any D9Gxx with 2.2/2.3 should be able to do at least 400MHz 4-4-4-x on 680i
it will be interesting to see how far my Dominators can clock with 1T if P5K vanilla has the option
almost done with cubecase mod so benching will resume soon :D:D:D:D:D
BIOS 0414 is up on Asus site for P5K
i wonder if 1T is added to this bios
basically one of these cases
Yeong Yang YY-0221
http://www.modthebox.com/review241_1.shtml
http://www.virtual-hideout.net/revie...se/index.shtml
with dual 120mm cut out for the rad at the back
i'll have to make a hole up the top for the tubing as there's not enough room :(
but i've already done the paintjob with silver hammered finish (front as well) but dull lol
just have to work out how to place watercooling in there and stick my 4xHDDs and DVDRW LOL
i don't have decent tools and this case is made out of thick metal.....would be nice if i could conver side panels to some sort of mash for better ambients but that'll have to wait another time i think
hmmm i like the sound dampening stuff they've installed here

Tried the new 0311 BIOS on my P5K deluxe... 1T doesn't wanna play with my G.Skill 8500CL5D-GBHK.... might try to relax subtimings some more, but I'm on
5-5-5-15 2.4vdimm...400mhz:shrug:
In this fine topic you find the poor people with P5K Vanilla boards :p:
There is an excellent topic for P5K Deluxe:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=144199
You might find a quicker answer to your questions and finding there...
@dinos22: maybe a little change in the title of this thread could stop the confusion :D
Maybe I was just showing some pity for the poor folks with the vanilla boards:p:
congrats dinos22 , seems to be a amazing board !!!
one question, what can u tell about South bridge temps ? ( seems to be an small heatsink)
ps: I ask because my p5ld2-se get alot of heat on south bridge ( old i945P hehe).
thanks in advice , i am planning to buy this board in the following month
all of the p5k's can get about 500fsb?
sry for bad english :)
So... from my point of view this motherboard is highly overclockable and modable which makes it an amazing board. However, I just happen to have D9GMH Team PC5300 and I saw a mention of the same RAM (or similar ) earlier in the thread so how is that working out... or do I need to order new RAM aswell?
Dinos, I'm really noob to overclocking. My last board that could OC was an ECS w/a PD 930 and BT. There are many more features in this P5K Vanilla than in my ECS which had VDimm, VCore, FSB, mem timings, Mem speed. I never even messed around with mem speed....
Can someone please give me some good advice that'll let me get a great OC with the specs in my sig? Maybe there is a guide somewhere? Thank you very much!
eva2000 has the most detailed threads on motherboards......he has tested the deluxe version which is very similar to P5K bios wise anyways
i would start there with his thread and copy his work.....
the basic idea behind OCing it to quickly find out the limits of your components and to decide which ones you want to have overclocked and by how much
so the components i am talking about are
CPU
Motherboard
GFX card
Memory
you need to test them each one by one and keep the other settings at stock so that there is no confusion or other components affecting your OCs
NOW you should probably start with RAM first with stock vdimm and timings and push the frequency with high RAM divider....hence when you boot to bios at stock you would select the 266MHz RAM divider which would run the RAM at same speed of the FSB (if your RAM is capable of such speeds that is). I would drop the CPU multiplier to 6x and set the CPU vcore to 1.35v.
Make sure you set the RAM timings too.......here is a screenshot with RAM timings (i would start with first 4xvalues as 5-5-5-15 and rest should be OK)
this screenshot also reviews the other important set of values relating to voltage of components and other things. As you can see there i tend to keep most of them Auto at first and set the vcore, vdimm and vMCH (northbridge)
I would disable Transaction Booster though just in case it puts too much pressure on the MCH or RAM
http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3...stingsebs7.png
Once you start clocking the RAM past say 400MHz FSB you should probably go back to stock settings (266MHz FSB and choose a higher RAM divider). Ram divider is an option in bios called DRAM Frequency as per my bios screenshots on the first page. and select value higher than 266MHz
at some point the RAM will start playing up (Memtest Test#5 will start to error) and at that points it would be a good idea to start to increase Vdimm (RAM voltage) from stock to 1.9 and then more and more....don't push it past 2.3v as it seems your are looking for a 24/7 system now. Some RAM doesn't like voltage so your max could be 2.1v as well...
this is clearly too basic an explanation but it gives you an idea
after you figure out RAM.......start with CPU.........leave the RAM 1:1 ratio and start with 1.35v set in bios boot at 300MHz FSB to get to the looser strap (don't ask :D)
and download software called SetFSB, start with orthos priming (SmallFFTs) and druing orthos runs overclock the CPU in 5GHz FSB increments every 5 minutes or so until Orthos fails...........that will be a quick and dirty way to reach CPU max at stock volts.........obviously the overclock increases as you bump the vcore as long as there is sufficient cooling
(MAKE SURE YOU RUN YOUR RAM SETTINGS AT STABLE VOLTAGE AND FREQUENCIES)
you would have gained a fair bit knowledge on the board by now so start the board next for FSB test and drop CPU multi to 6x. You should know that NB voltage will have some influence on FSB once you start reaching the top clocks :)
DRAM Frequency option in the screenshot above
what does it do >>> simple
it makes your RAM run at the same frequency as FSB or higher. IF you have great clocking RAM and want to max it out you just bump the divider so that you can reach higher clocks on the RAM without increasing the FSB too high
hence my 24/7 settings are
E6700 @1.31v
360*10=3600MHz
RAM is running at 540MHz 4-4-4-x 2.25v with 2:3 ratio/divider/RAM frequency
