No Ln2 yes, but you have a Gigabyte EP45 Extreme not fair at all

teaser SS with UD3P:stick::slash:
Only worth pi 1M without a sweat...lol...for 24/7 around 4.5Ghz stable is possible with decent voltage.

Your phase unit is crying....come join us to the dark side with new mobo:D
Nice results also Sparda!!!
Yes you are right poor Cryo-Z is so bored that is just sad :shakes: I'm using DFIx48:down: w/ the quad at 469x9 1.30vcore super pi around 10,5s temp -46 to -50oC.
I'll Probably do that next year cause wife will kill me on spot if I touch this PC this year ;)
Because DFI X38 and X48 can't hit decent FSBs with any and all Quads. I have the same problem, can't get above FSB 460 with my Q6600 for the life of it, tried it for months lol. Another mobo --> 480 stable :shakes:
Only no other mobo will hold my 250W Q6600 on 24/7 load without exploding
Is it a good idea to run such high vcores? I mean they say the limit is not over 1.4 Volts
1.5 Volts is asking for a CPU omelet :ROTF:
Jcool is right, it's disappointing really I've been thru 3 DFI's X38 and 2 DFI's X48 and they all gave same results on Quads with a little difference in FSB.
I got these boards as soon as this Chipset debut because of the double x16 in Crossfire capability, but then when ATI's X2 came out that was a feature that became a bit useless.
The boards cost me $300+ at the time and they are good for high mem clocks DDR2@1300 with little voltage. They are also solid trustworthy boards but for that price DFI could have done a lot better.
The reason I believe is a fatal mistake made on the PWM-Chipset design for running Quads. They underestimated that for sure.
The max FSB I got out of a Quad was 485x9 but that stresses the board a lot, needs a lot of volts on NB/VTT/Vcore for that (with a board rev. A1).
So you have to chose between running 470x9 and low volts for everything (vtt, vnb. vdimm, vcore etc) or 485x9 with huge amount of volts.
I prefer to run it low volts and comfortable because the extra 15Mhz won't be missed.
With a new board in the near future that can change. I'm not thinking about i7 as it won't give me any gains in reality.
let face it guys intel will give up on 775 by end of first quarter 09 so the boards will already out or coming before newyear. Which will take all the good parts from every board and make the q9xxx fly just as high as the i7 is now if not better then the i7 will wipe the floor as all intels new chips do. But no good gaming chips coming any time soon this is the best of the q9's period. Keep up the good work guys
500fsb and more >1.5v-1.6v-...vmch for quad on this mobo otherwise prime blend = freeze.
strap 400 ; 1:1 ; 2x2gb ddr1066 corsair ; PL 9
Playing with this board nearly a month with that voltage. No degradation whatsoever....btw it on water.
Each cpu has their own value. Some needed low voltage. Mine craving for vcore when playing above 4.3Ghz. Probably might shaven it up with better mobos like DQ6 or Extrem. Just here to share info.
I been through that too with Maximus. I hate Q6600 because they are hot but still keep some around. :P

prime blend..pls no omg wtf bbq 1.5v...lol:lol:

Hey Sparda... I see your screeny there, with Core Temp open. and your Tj Max Value is Wrong. therfor your getting the wrong temp readout right now.
the correct Tj Max Value on the 45nm Chips is supposed to be set at 100. So I am sorry to be the one to tell you, but all those temps you're showing are actually 5 Degree's higher or so.
Change the Tj Max Value to 100c and that will be the right temp read.
Ohh thanks. 95 for the wolfdale right? No wonder some of the cpu keep trottling when I start Linpack.:zombie:
The themal spec is 74.5 before they start. So that won't be it I don't think ur still under 70 mine stops just under 70 at 4.2 but seen no problems and how come at 4.25 programs start to lag a hell of a lot. Anyone think what it could be. It's not a problem though just wondering it was 30 runs of IBT STABLE!
IBT (Linpack) is the last thing I want to use when shoving high vcore and frequency on quad. Eventough it very fast and handy when detecting error.
An hour blend and small ftt or OCCT is good enough 4 me.
It probably reach 75°c for vcore more than 1.4v like it did to Q6600 that reach 80°c when using Linpack. So it a no no. Lower vcore and clock it doable.
but saying that scans great white get to 93 at 4.44 ghz and there is no word of it throttling in cpc review. Have you disabled all the c1 and crap and set the glt voltage as any of these could play havoc try fine tuning. You sound like you know what your doing mate. Keep trying
Wow great info in this thread! well it's time to retire the old Phenom and try and run with the big boys, so I'm going to throw down some cheeze for a new system this week and I'd really appreciate any input you guys can give me , this is what i was thinking of getting:
silverstone TJ10 case, Ikonik Vulcan 1000 watt, Striker II Extreme, Q9650, G.SKILL GT1 4GB DDR3 PC3 16000, Swiftech Apogee GTZ waterblock, MCP350 pump, 12" rad
2 questions on this, should need the waterblock the chipset and gpu's? and were should i go to get the Yorkfield, a good one (what stepping)?
thanks for your time SG,
Well your looking good on the system you won't need board water cooling. I would recommend a comos 1000 case put a rad at the top and cut 2 holes in the side to cool board and grapics. My bro is a welder so he is putting hole in for my 2 silent 12cm fans on monday I'll tell you how it goes. Buy testing seemed to go realy well. Over:banana::banana::banana::banana:ing take alot of time mate so good look with your build
your gonna want a 355 not a 350 because the GTZ really wants high flow pressure for great performance. also get an XSPC res top for the pump to get the best performance around.
if you prefer the low noise buy a fuzion v2 instead of the GTZ and stick with the MCP350 and the XSPC res top.
for ram I would go for this CSX diablo here http://www.tankguys.com/memory/ddr3-...hz-memory.html
the tank guys rep was in here the other day said they will be getting a shipment from europe in the next week or 2
Thats a nice overclock - wish I could get mine stable at that speed. Im currently running 480x9 - was running 490x9 but would fail prime blend. I was originally stuck at 466 but changing the GTL for the NB got me up to 480. Only running 1.35vcore for 4320Mhz so its not bad. Just wish I could find the magic setting to get to 4.5Ghz.
These E0 chips are amazing - only thing holding them back is my mobo at the moment.
Are people hitting 500 FSB more often on P45 than X48? Im wondering is the Rampage Xtreme would get me any more out of my chip?
EP45 Extreme or EP45 DQ6 should do magic with this cpu.
EP45-UD3 is the last thing u want for this quad. Yes it cheap and 500 fsb but there some major crap.
-S3 mode doesnt work after certain clock (Q6600 above 3,6Ghz and Q9650 above 4Ghz)
-single CPU reference only give headache without one thread crapping in prime for high clock.
Thanks SNiiPE, about the heads up on the flow needed for the GTZ , i think i'll go with the MCP655B, Swiftech says it's quiet, wonder if it really is?
And David , funny thing about the case , the CM cosmos 1000 was my other choice! (i was looking at the dragon paint job) i like the top panel coming off for the rad , but i was wondering about air flow, guess you run the fans up from the case thru the rad but is that air a little hot (or warm ) for going thru the rad?? and that case has a VGA air duct , is that what your cutting the holes for? check this over the top case mod , did it as a joke, but it worked good got half gig more outta my phenom (thats the best i could do with the POS!), running 36c at idle and about 45c full load, 1.4 vcore, but was just to damn LOUD!
any thoughts on were the best chance of getting i good clockable chip or is it a roll of the dice?
thanks guys SG,
