I don't think I was able to hit 1880 6-6-6 or 3102 CPU_NB on a 965BE with "lack" of skill...I was just saying that that Gigabyte Rev 1 boards as well as their DDR2 boards (I've owned both) are "lack"ing in some places. I never said it was bad... but what's in my avatar at left is impossible on a Gigabyte Rev 1 800 series or 790 series board.
But those boards do have a wall of ~1780-1800 for stability and as soon as you apply anything higher than 1879 the board will flip out. ;)
Most Deneb CPU's will need at the very least 1.45v for 4Ghz, 1.50+ for 4.1, and 1.55+ for 4.2. This is usually common knowledge.
I'm glad that trt740 has a golden CPU, but that doesn't really reflect on how much "skill" or "lack of skill" a user has. For example, my 965 does 3.7 at stock VID (1.4v) while my 565BE sample does 3.8 @ it's stock VID of 1.325v. The 965BE needs 1.56v for 4 Ghz, and the 565BE does 4 Ghz @ 1.425v. As you can see, there is a huge range there in the middle where most CPU's fall. My 565BE would be considered a pretty good CPU.
