Rev 2.1 boards are the boards that do DDR3-2000+, Gigabyte had serious ram compatibility problems.

You obviously have no idea how much experience chew* has with Gigabyte as well.

I've owned the 790X-UD4P as well as the 890GX-UD3H Rev 1.0 and both aren't great with ram. The 890GX-UD3H Rev 2.1 would do what my ASUS board does in my case.

And everyone knows Deneb can't do 4.2 stable on 1.45v, especially an unlocked CPU. Can it validate at that speed? Sure, easily. Will it get past Prime95/LinX? No more than 30 seconds. You seem to be fudging numbers just a little bit there.

Really have a look. It can't be done well your wrong look again. is a 9hr+ prime okay and no Trolling was done here there is zero wrong with this board. Also this is a 555x2 with 2 cores unlocked or a B55x4 using Air cooling. It is also inside my case but it says open because the side panel sensor is not connected to the board. The only person who doesn't know what they are talking about here is you have great day.

My MA790XT-UD4P was a great board, especially for the price. It wouldn't run my 2X2GB kit of Ripjaws @ spec with the 1600 multiplier. If you look at the description of memory support for the board, it says support for 1333, support for 1600 (OC). So I dropped to the 1333 multiplier, cranked the ref clock, and got 1666 777 1T out of my inexpensive ram kit on an inexpensive mobo, and then I cranked it up to over 350 for one of Simon's fixed multiplier challenges.

However I can't make it work with my new 2X4GB kit. I'll post back to let you know if the ram does work well on a different board (C4F coming), or was defective.

I'm still curious if anyone has used 8GB at speed on this board. And I still like the board :clap:

Also I seem to recall you were the one who said I didn't know what I was talking about and that I was fudging my overclocking with this motherboard. I owned the DDR2 variant of this board and it was good. DDR2 board limit at 1233 but it was good.

My 890GX board sucked at clocking ram though and I'm sure these boards do to. All of those boards had an 1880 limit...extended a little with Thuban. But it didn't change the fact that Gigabyte had to redesign the board to get compatibility right.

...and doing the impossible? Your CPU is fabulous, you got extremely lucky. I'd say no more than 1 out of 100 CPU's would do that. Congrats.

Oh also I had a X6 1090T that did 4.1ghz at 1.425v with a 3000+ N/B so again your wrong the X6 chips work fine in these boards. You just need to know how to set them up correctly. I did have a second 1090T that did 4.0ghz at 1.425v with 250 FSB that only did a 2750 N/B but it wasn't a great overclocker in this board. It is all in how you set the board up, ram and cpu . I do have rev.1 board.

I never said the board was bad for CPU clocking.

Now test for max ram clock. ;) Your kit should do 1700-1800 6-8-6.

I'm glad that trt740 has a golden CPU, but that doesn't really reflect on how much "skill" or "lack of skill" a user has. For example, my 965 does 3.7 at stock VID (1.4v) while my 565BE sample does 3.8 @ it's stock VID of 1.325v. The 965BE needs 1.56v for 4 Ghz, and the 565BE does 4 Ghz @ 1.425v. As you can see, there is a huge range there in the middle where most CPU's fall. My 565BE would be considered a pretty good CPU.

Does the voltage increase scale with the wattage ? eg 965 = 125w, 565be = 80w ?

I think I see a pattern here...
My old 80w x2 550be(wouldn't unlock lol), had no probs or temp gain:yepp: @3.5ghz 17.5x 200 1.3v. My current cpu is 95w and needs 1.35v to make 3.5ghz 14x 250, work.

965 is a quad core so those are rated at 125w. VID's depend on each CPU, usually a combination of stability and staying under TDP.

565's for example are a reasonably high clocked dual core @ 80w TDP. VID's will usually range between 1.25 - 1.4v, depending on what the chip needs for stability as well as fitting the TDP.

Another variable is the amount of Vdroop any specific mobo may apply.

Then why the extra wattage?:shrug: My 95w 630 performs the same a 125w PII 955 at these speeds.

Since you've overclocked the wattage has gone up...the wattage only applies to the stock frequency. I see you've unlocked L3 as well... for example that CPU might have been an Athlon because it didn't meet TDP...take out cache, lower voltage, lower frequency and you have yourself a 95w 630.

If my TDP went up, my temps would not be so low. Idle = 30-33C, Load = 45C running Hyper Pi 32M. eg.. my friend runs his 125w PII x4 920 at stock, 2.8ghz 1.35v, with idle temps 7-10C higher than mine.

Or they may have lowerd the TDP(and clock speeds) and disabled the L3 cache to meet market demand and/or to keep the market from being flooded with PII x4's.

Gigabyte put up the F10c beta BIOS for the 790X-UD4P. Not sure what kind of changes there are and it's dated September 8th.

I found myself building my first AMD Rig a learning experience first of all starting out with the wrong speed of ram 1333mhz:down:. I can kick myself with not buying some 1600mhz instead but as said you learn as you go...I got the ma790xt-ud4p matched up with the 965BE C3 cooled by the ECO alt along with the F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK kit from G.Skill, Now the ram is funny acting straight out the box at timing 9-9-9-24 if you even try to tighten it to 8-8-8-21 it will ran for awhile and fall flat on it's face Latency at 9-9-9-24 is 49.9ns and at 8-8-8-21 it's 47.7ns now where talking at 1372 mhz/ 2 = 686mhz,The cpu @ 3914mhz = 206x 19.0 here's a sample of my speeds

I want to replace my old not efficient Phenom X4 9550 with Athlon II X3 450 but don't know if it will be properly recognized on my 790X-UD4P, cause even the latest F10c BIOS only supports Athlon II X3 445 model. Should I give a try? Also planning to unlock the new Athlon II X3.
