Great.. thanks for the results, I am probably going to go with a 6700 or 6600.. wonder if the newer 6700 batches clock well or are Vcore hungry

7638A@3.6 load vcore1.50 and 1.55 in bios

Wonder why it is like that, the newer the cpu is the worse it clocks and needs more vcore?! the closer its release date the better it clocks, i have been pretty lucky i guess with week 44 ...can go 3.6 with 1.40ish
Heh nice thread .. now i see that my E6400 isn't as bad as i think. It's stable on 3960Mhz with 1.7V(vdrop) on AIR (you don't wanna know how :D). The max is 4160 but it restarts on loading windows ... I have to make vmod on my motherboard and test it on 1.8V :p:
EDIT: lol I forgot it's L629A910 revision 001 ... 2M
I've got myself a L635A533
it does 3200MHz at 1.28V (1.24V in windows), guess im lucky I didn't bought one later.
L632A896
lapped
watercooled
9x333 = 3000MHz @ 1.216v (1.200 with droop)
dual prime95 48 hours stable
Idle temps 29 cpu / 42 both cores
full load 39 cpu / 49 both cores
Could not get to 3600MHz even with 1.46 volts.
Week 32
3.6 @ 1.3875 Voltage in BIOS
Idle is around 35 celc. and full load 50-55 celc. (Water cooled)
This is my new 24/7. I did however try some fancy stuff back when it was still cold outside (and so was my rig :) ) As you can see, -1 celcius outside.
The latencies were VERY loose, so the superPi results are not groundbreaking.....

Well, I thought what the heck. I'm now benching 9x400 = 3600MHz with 1.465v after droop. So far 30min dual prime95 stable.
I had week 42, could clock it up to 3.066 at stock volts 1.325, stock cooler, I think it topped out around 3.2-3.3ghz, week 30 B chip runs 3.6 at 1.4vcore, 52C load with watercooling, 8hours orhtos stable. I tried 3.8 with 1.55 vcore, 64C load too much for my taste :)
this is my E6600 max stable 3.55 at 1.45v I try 3.6 with up to 1.57v and but no way can't make it stable :(

I broke the good e6600 in my sig while removing the IHS, just got this, 7638A760 and it does 3600 at 1.46vcore (bios). temps are good, idles 25 deg and 40 load
I recently bought a xeon 3060 . The batch number if i recall right is 7640A .
I really had a hard time finding a stable OC . and with stable i mean stable .
Lots of times i've seen orthos small fft crash after 12 -16h or more .
I can post at very high frequencies (3.9ghz) with a 'passive' cooled scythe ninja . The cpu never reboots or blue screens and almost always posts . but to get it orthos stable is just not possible and requires crazy voltages .
I'm now at 3290mhz (470x7) with 1.4 in bios . (1.329 load)
the board is a DS3 rev 3.3 .
anyway , to get like lets say 100-200mhz more out of it , i have to up voltage to 1.5 in bios . and even then it will error after 15+ hours orthos .
really hard to find a stable freq .
my E6300 L629B was alot easier and did 3430 mhz with 1.475 in bios (1.39 load). when it wasn't stable it would just blue screen/reboot or not post at all .
Seems like the newer batches might have a chance of getting some nice clocks..
Hmm.. maybe i will try a E6420.:woot:
week 37A
max stable is 3.5Ghz (1.42v real),can't get 3.6g stable at all
bad bad bad
