I'm going to dig out of the 2 feet of snow here and check this out. I actually looked at this case before for an all internal h2o setup. :slobber:
I wonder if I can get my 120.3 Thermochill and 3 yateloon mounted internally above the mobo. Anyone know?

i just picked up 2 here in daytona... 51.99 told the store manager, what i read here, and he just said ok, and matched the price.
Almost done putting a phase in, the case now looks like a V1000, if I make a run of these I'll get the metal piece made in 18 gauge aluminum vs the 22/24 I just used thats just going to serve as a barrier, not a support.
PSU is going in bottom compartment with the phase unit, and room for a normal PSU no problem, if I go through with the thinner taller condensers (same capactiy or better) I can fit a galaxy sized PSU then.

So here is how things get a little weird, the people getting successful PMing in states like IL, NJ, etc. where the price is NOT already on super low clearance + discontinuation prices of under $119.99 (the base price), are actually getting lucky and convincing those store managers to go out of their way and sell the item *mind you already on clearance + discontinuation price* at a matching price of another bestbuy store all the way over in California as it seems so far, and I say that because in California there are about maybe only a handful of stores out of a hundred or so that have this case at the discontinued + clearance price of the equivalent of an open box price; $71.99 (if the store does not care about the shelf space being used by these cases) or $47.99 (if the store just wants to get rid of them quickly)
And to those of you having a hard time getting the super low $47.99 price, just do what I did.
Call 5 stores nearby your zip code. Then compare the prices and find the store that has the shelf price marked up at under $119.99 (base price @ clearance but possibly not discontinued) which would seem to be from my research, $94.95 (discontinued + clearance + shelf space being required by other items)
Then ask this store to hold 1 unit for you and just tell them you will pick it up the next day.
Now wait for the next day to pass and then DO NOT pick up the case.... they wont care that you did not come by to pick it up... All they do is set aside the case on another shelf somewhere for you when you come to pick it up.
Now when the store sees that you did not pick up the case AND that the other units of this same item on clearance + discontinued mark down is also still sitting on the same shelf, the store should then mark down the price from the already super low $94.95 to $71.99 (usually takes about a day or two) and then repeat same process again and price will go from $71.99 to $47.99 (should only take 1 day) **assuming ofcourse the same number of stock the first day you called in, is the same number on the day the store makes the decision to cut the price again to $47.99
Basically its a gamble. I got lucky and all 3 RocketFish cases that started at $119.99 on March 3rd ending up going to $47.99 as of yesterday :D :D ... and I really only needed 2.
Beyond $47.99, I am not sure what the store will do but I did not take my chance, rather just spent some money on gasoline :shakes: ... and then drove 15 miles to a BestBuy store that had these cases on clearance + discontinuation + needed the shelf space for other stuff.
And this is the LEGIT way to get the best buy, if you will on anything on clearance that is also on discontinued price and the shelf space is needed for something else.
So for the people getting this case by PMing, well I commend you guys because I went SOL doing this as I get the same run around #su received from his BestBuy store. Ofcoruse I did not bother going any further to get the PM though.
Personally speaking, I think BestBuy Managers are all crooks.
On a more positive note, the best PM experience I had was at CircuitCity getting a $4449.99 Samsung 52" LNT5271F LCD TV for $2450 even after tax AND it came with a TV Wall Mount kit PLUS an HDMI 10ft cable. (total value is about $5200 ... it was a really expensive Wall mount hehe and good quality too) :D ... but ofcourse I had to also spend the gas and run around CircuitCity stores to get this deal. ... also LEGIT btw...
Oh yah and I also got my 10% off.. but only on 1 case of the 3 I bought... going to try and get my local Bestbuy (6 mins away from me) to honor the 10% off on all 3 cases rather than just 1 lol (they said it was allowed.. so why not) ....Ill post my receipt in next post

I went to two stores nearest me. Both had them for $119. They even looked on the computer and saw that stores 20 minutes away had them for $47.99 & $71.99 but wouldn't price match. I just made the drive to one of the stores and didn't bother arguing or asking any questions. This hower suxs for people who don't have multiple stores near them with the lower prices available. I'm sure if you wait though and check back often, they will all reach the $47.99 price. After all it's a clearance Item and they won't be receiving new shipments other than clearing out warehouses.

mine was also taped up weird and was pretty beaten up, but everything was brand new in the box and is in perfect condition.

I went to my Bestbuy after working a 26 hour shift at work (Overtime Baby!).
The Bestbuy in McDonough, GA stated he wouldn't consider it till I bring him a copy of a receipt from a GA store. My reply was if I knew a GA store selling the case for $47.99 do you think I would be here right now.
The Bestbuy in Morrow, GA stated he would love to help me, but do to the fact that all those stores (he looked them up and showed me) have those cases marked as Discontinued items, and his is still listed as an available shipping product. He is unable to drop the price that low, till it goes DC. He was very nice about offering some advice, like calling Corp, and I declined stating, I would find another way to get the deal.
So I got home and called the 1-888-Best-Buy number and started a :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:ing fest to the customer service rep about their price matching issue. After enough of a rave, she stated she can't make a store sell it to me for that price that all my "friends" are purchasing it for. But she did the next best thing and went on to say that, your located in GA. You can goto the Savanna, GA Augusta, GA and Gainesville, GA stores and the cases will ring up @ 47.99 without a problem.
So now I queitly awaiting this weekend to go to Buford to see my Girlfriend. And that Gainesville Bestbuy store is 10 minutes from her house, and I will be purchasing one of the cases if they still have them in stock. The guy on the phone at the store said he has never even sold one since the day they arrived.
My GF was also able to work her magic and find out more information on the way Bestbuy discontinues items. The stores that are selling the cases now at retail, will end supply in a couple weeks according to the Manager at one store. And then they will be allowed to start dropping the prices. The Manager even stated to my GF that if you want to try your luck and wait long enough, you may be able to pick the case up for less than $20.
Just thought you would like to know that information.
Now I haven't picked mine up yet, so if your in GA and going to the Gainesville store, either pick me one up and message me (ill pay you back) or save me one, I mean hell I did help you guys out with some nice information.

best buy treats every customer like crap. they have the worst customer service ever. the manager at the store near me told me to just stand there like an idiot because none of his employees were going to help him. then i reminded him that bestbuy will replace him in a couple weeks anyway, and that i make more per/minute than he does per/month, and asked him how satisfying his career choices were... i think he was quit a bit more upset than i was when i left :DQuote:

Great case, but it is noticeably lesser than the Lian-Li's I've used.
Some bullet points:
Good
Very light, comparable to my antec900 at considerably larger size
Very big, I've got a shot of it next to my 900 I'll post later... lots of room in here.
Looks nice, outside and in. Metal is thin and light, but not flimsy or cheap looking.
More than enough room for watercooling without mods, I've got an mcr220 stuffed inside there at the moment, and with my non-modular PSU it's a bit crowded and warm but it works for a temporary setup. 10 minutes with a jig saw or hole saw and you could have a nice W/C loop in this.
Bad
Door is kind of cheap on the front, squeaks when you open it... can't seem to get it to stop even w/ a bit of oil.
Power/Reset switches are cheap, and squeak. These are virtually the only plastic in the whole case though.
Mediocre air flow at best. A full tower case with only 2 120mm fans? You've got to be kidding! I'm going to be putting in AT LEAST 2 more before I'm satisified. With my 680i the case gets toasty fast, and the northbridge & mosfets don't like that much heat.
GPU fan is awkward, would've much preferred a "true" vent fan, one that blows out the door rather than a small slot in the back of the case.
Verdict:
Great case for the coin, easily the best sub $100 case I've ever worked with. Has a few minor flaws regarding air flow, but a bit of modding can really make this case shine.

as far as being lesser quality than lian-li, that really isn't true unless you're talking about V2100 Plus or something along those lines. then yes, its lesser quality. but so is every other lian-li. for a point of reference, this rocketfish case is a PC-A71B. the only difference is the PC-A71B has video card supports, they stacked the HDD racks (which you can do in the rocketfish), and they added extra HDD fans and a 3rd HDD rack on the top/back. but if you own a PC-A71B you can clearly see it's the exact same case.Quote:

It's got pretty irritatingly low airflow, essentially 2x120mm. For such a large case this is relatively little, it gets toasty in there fast.
You can however mod it pretty easily, and it's a pretty sweet case for the price (even if it does take a bit of work). Few minutes with a jig or hole saw, and about $20 worth of fans and paint/insulation... and you've got a pretty badass case.
I'm thinking of either top mounting (cutting a hole in the top w/ a radgrill) or radboxing my mcr220, anyone done this? I havent decided which I want to do.

I attached a few shots of the configuration I have now.
Few questions here though, the airflow sucks. I need more air flowing over the 680 socket area... it gets REALLY toasty.
I was thinking I'd add 2 40mm fans where I drew them... it's ugly but it'll work. It'll save me the trouble of hole-sawing as well. There's a TON of room above the board for a radiator or some nice fans, but I'm stumped as to how/where to mount them without modding.
I am planning on radboxing my mcr220 on the back, and putting grommets roughly where i drew the circles.
ANY suggestions for a "tidier" way to improve airflow would be greatly appreciated, I've got until my $170 g92 gts (woot!) gets here on monday to get this figured out. At the moment it'll be: Scythe Kama Bay for more intake, radbox (or a DIY one), and a few 40mms for the rear (maybe 60mm... i gotta measure).
P.S. I know my wiring/tubing job sucks, its temporary. Used long runs so I could reuse the tubing :).
It gets toasty in there because your rad is dumping all of its hot air inside the case. Your temps on your CPU, among everything else, would drop if you top mounted your rad and had it exhausting air.
40mm fans move next to no air.
I realize, which is why I want to mount it externally. I'm kind of at a loss for a good mounting spot however for it... the radbox isn't ideal, but it would save me the trouble of modding. If i top mount it, I'll still be dealing with warm air being forced through it. Any external mount I do other than a bottom mount... which isn't really feasable, is going to be pulling "hot" case air over the rad to the outside. It's ridiculously hot in that corner of the case, the airflow is just horrid compared to my 900 (not a fair comparison, I know).Quote:

The cpu loop really isn't dumping THAT much heat, it's only an e6300. It's 100% OC, but its only like 65w stock so its nothing considerable.
The problem really with the heat building up is the chipsets on the 680i, they dump a TON of heat into that area that just kind of floats up to the top and sits there. There's 0 airflow in that top-left corner of the case, so the northbridge and CPU area gets pretty toasty.
I was hoping that adding a bit more airflow would help offset the "damage" that will be done to potential temps by using a radbox. I really don't see a lot of other options here however, short of hitting the top panel with a hole saw.
Any suggestions as to what to do? I realize nothing I've suggested is anywhere near ideal, but I think a kama bay in the drive bays, and an additional fan or two would do wonders here.
start by ripping it all apart again and hiding your cables behind the metal mobo tray.
you have way too much crap crammed in there.
fo get a dremmel with a crap load of cutting wheels and cut the top of the case so you can mount the rad.
you could even mount the water pump up there upside down
do some serious cable management and it will clean it up alot.
Can't run the cables under the tray, there's not enough room. Like i said I just threw it together while I plan stuff, I'll clean it up when it comes time for a final build (new parts arrive).
I kind of wanted to avoid cutting the top, just because the case is brand new. I might just drill pass-thrus for the tubing and mount it on "stilts" (screws w/ nuts).
I realize the watercooling loop and the wiring is bad, which is why I included that little "PS" at the end of the post. It'll change, I just don't wanna bother with the zip-ties and garbage until I know where things are going.
Mount your hard drives in the 5.25" bays. That will let you remove the racks, where you can cut a hole in the bottom and mount your radiator there. You can intake cool air from the bottom, and exhaust it out the front and after switching the fan on the side thing, exhaust it out the side. Then you can switch the back fan to intake to blow cool air over the motherboard.
They're already in the 5.25 bays :) it's not easy to tell though with all that mess. I'm thinking about picking up a kama bay or something just to get extra airflow however.Quote:

well, the modding has started. I dumped a Hdd cage, mounted the remaining one sideways in front of the front intake and I'm going to put an exhaust fan on the bottom. I just need to wait for my 4.75" hole saw from McMaster.

Edit: I agree fuji, the original HDD mounting system was pretty inefficient. Obviously a Frankenstein of parts meant for a different cage. I figure if I ever do get a fourth drive I can just pop it in one of the empty 5" bays.
As for the whole saw... I love me some Dremmel action but I learned my lesson from my current case. Hole saws just seem so much cleaner and I just ordered 3 FilterRight filters for the top intakes. http://www.petrastechshop.com/12blalfanfi.html

That should promote some airflow and keep the case clean, too. Now I just have to figure out how to get a 120.3 rad and a filport in the top and I'm set.
That HDD mounting system is totally stupid. Good idea for a simple mod.
Let me know how the hole-saw thing goes, that might be the route I go.. either top or bottom (or both, one just for airflow).

My girlfriend picked up one for me from Gainsville in GA, have to wait till this weekend to it up and start modding it for my system.
The only store in the Twin Cities area that has them for $47 is way down in Rochester. Every other twin cities locations have them for more and are hesitant to price match. You can go ahead and try but that's what I have found out so far. I saw the stock screen with my own eyes at a BB.Quote:

Just managed to sweet talk myself into one for $47.99!!!
I went into my best buy, and it was really busy, I had to wait for like 30 minutes just to get a price check, and it ended up being $119.99. The girl said she couldn't price match because it is against policy. The manager happened to hear as he was walking by, and asked what was going on... he was in damage control mode and just said "yeah we'll price match" and kept going on his way.
She said she would need a store number to match by, and the first one we found was in Murrietta for $71.99. I convinced her to start randomly searching for stores with it at $47.99 so she could match that, but the only one she could find was in Hawaii.
Then, with a stroke of genius I realized that it was probably based on local economy, so I told her search the East Los Angeles region. BINGO! $47.99
I am still trying to figure out where to put it, it is RIDICULOUSLY huge. I mean I could just pick up my 19" samsung LCD and stick it inside the case, along with both my cats, and a couple CD cases.
FYI for those in southern california, the Pasadena store has 3 in stock at $47.99 at the moment.
