Bazoom!!

any price yet on the gtx480
XFX GTX480 specifications Core frequency 625 (MHz)
Unless this is a typo we might see two versions of GTX480, with Core frequencies 625 and 700 MHz
Maybe 625MHz is ROP/L2 clock.
XFX GTX470 specifications
No price yet though
less then 12 hours left
Why would there be two different clocked versions for the GTX 480? Maybe review samples will be different than retail boxes? I sure hope not.
All of them? :ROTF:
Seriously though, the last thing we all need is cherry picked cards for reviewers. I doubt Nvidia is going to do this, would be PR suicide. I just can't believe that the NDA lifts in a few hours and we are still not sure of the final specs.

It seems 625MHz for GTX480, is a typo. It should be 700 MHz Graphics Clock
i dont think power consumption matters... nobody really cares...
what people care about is noise, heat and if they have to upgrade their psu...
if the card runs relatively quiet and not too hot and they dont need top u[pgrade their psu, i dont think anybody will care...
its hard to tell if those 50W extra fermi pulls vs rv870 is going to push most people to upgrade their psu... if anybody reallty cares, check the steam hw survey and check what psus are common and what cpus and gpus are common to get an idea of how much power headroom most highend systems have... i think the 50W extra wont be a problem psu wise...
about the different 480 specs, i think the 625mhz 480s are the 250W tdp cards and the 700mhz are probably oced editions with close to 300W... there is no mention of a 480 ultra with 512cores so far, or did i miss it? i cant find any mention of 512cores...
double gtx295 per4formance then?
you might argue that its gpu vs gpu, well then there should be a dual fermi card as well offering double the perf of a 295... but we all know thats not going to happen for what, 6 months? last i heard was late 2010 early 2011?
so then claiming double perf as their previous card is marketing bs...
i cant find the quote of somebody posting "so what, you claim fermi will be a 295 for the same price and same power, just with dx11, that cant be true after such a long time of waiting..." well, that IS pretty much what fermi is, isnt it? :D
im not saying its bad... like i said, except for 2560x1600 people there is no need for more powerful cards.
you call 31 and 37 average fps in a first person action shooter playable? :stick:
oh pleeeeease....
Yu Wei GTX470/480 army ready
Yu Wei GTX470 Specifications:
Integrated 448 stream processing units, the default core / Shader / memory frequency 607/1215/1674MHz, memory interface 320bit, capacity 1280MB-DDR5, bandwidth of 133.9GB/s.
Yu Wei GTX480 Specifications:
Integrated 480 stream processing units, the default Core / Shader / memory frequency 700/1401/1848MHz, memory interface 384bit, capacity 1536MB-DDR5, bandwidth of 177.4GB/s.
This is 700MHz LOL.
crysis being playable with 30 av fps... yes... but come on... if you could chose between 1920x1080 50fps and 2560x1600 30fps, dont tell me you would go for the higher res with 30 fps... :P
like i said before, imo going for a 30"screen is stupid if you wanna play games, cause its way expensive and you will depend on multi gpu for the next years and its just not as nice as single gpu, even with all the advancements...
oh and the nda ends mar 26 7:01 pm est
lol delays again??? :O
I think this is old news about the cooler change. Mr CD wrote about it some time ago. Some AIBs though might need more time.
announcing an announcement that announce an announcement about another delay that is delayed by another announcement .......... please nvidia spill the secret .... make some wild lies but make ati drop their price please...........
They better not announce a delay tomorrow!
so bios is changed too i wonder what they have done by doing that
So will the GTX480 be able to do these graphics in real time now?
Ok, maybe not.
did they lower it ? if so performance probably will be different from what we have seen/told and so can be power draw whatever 1 more day left
hahahah... omg... this is just getting ridiculous... so what, now nvidia pushes the launch date one week ahead every week?
this reminds me of approximations in maths.
you get closer and closer but never actually reach the point, only in theory you do
It might be a bad idea to purchase something immature. e.g. Windows Vista
Shall I wait for the refresh of Fermi?
How about waiting for reviews first?
New news since there was speculation about change of specs.
"The GTX 480 comes clocked at 700MHz GPU, 1848MHz memory and 1401MHz for the shaders. The memory bus is 384-bit, which should go well with 1536MB of GDDR5 memory. As we already said before, the card’s TDP stands at 250W."

And for those of you waiting for a price cut from AMD

Damn, the link to the Zotac GTX480 is broken, down or not working properly, anyone has another pic of it, Im starving for see it!
12 april? this is very disappointing. They ask as if we are "ready", we are ready but it seems they are not and who knows where ever they will be.
everyone is taking the fudzilla post as fact? what are their sources for this delay all other search results for this delay all point back to fudzilla... we'll all see tomorrow...

Beats me!
Why am I not surprised?
By the time we DO actually get the FERMI cards the new refresh from ATI will be weeks away from launching LOL!!
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvi...ermi,9904.html
First it was delayed to the 6th, now rumor says it is delayed to the 12th.Quote:
According to Baxtor, the original retail date was supposed to be March 29 but now that's been moved to April 6.
26th march was stated to simply be when they will lift the NDA and demo the card at some event.
Im not taking it as a fact, but it isnt factual that it is being released tomorrow either.
http://www.shanebaxtor.com/2010/03/1...e-pushed-back/Quote:
There’s good news and bad news; the bad news is that the GTX 400 series has been pushed back to April 6th. The good news is that it’s only in reference to retail supply and not the actual NDA; so come the 26th of March we’ll all know what performance will be.
If you thought that you were going to pick one up retail that day though you where wrong, the original date for stock to be selling was the 29th but now it seems to be April 6th.
It's paper launch as was obvious from month ago as the cards won't be in shops neither on 26th or 27th...does it matter if the cards will hit the stock 6th or 12th? They are gonna to be sold out immediatelly anyway...
So hey... if the NDA is lifted on the 26th, is that going to be EST time or what? Cause technically we can get reviews today starting at 12pm EST from the other side of the world!
IF it is indeed delayed, then i feel like nvidia is manipulating the consumer. I am pretty sure they knew the proper launch date (april 12th now?), but they instead said it would be released earlier so that more people would wait for it instead of getting an ATI card for example. Even if these are just rumours (but they do end up becoming true), its better for nvidia to spread rumours than making official announcements about each fictional launch date. Even if they were honestly planning to release it earlier but failed, it doesnt make the situation any better. I really hope Fermi is a good card (or at least not a "failure") but there is no need to treat us like idiots.
PST i guess
Well.... NDA could lift today at 2pm. nVidia might be playing the released to retail card here, to separate NDA from availability. No-one is expecting good availability for weeks, so if release is postponed, the no-mans land of "available" Vs actually BEING available is shorter... which looks less bad, just a shame that most people spell F-E-R-M-I as D-E-L-A-Y no-one matter how is played or spun.
ALL SPECULATION
Sweclockers (swedish forum / news site) claims their review will be up 1 minute past midnight tonight if I recall correctly.
Thats 9h from now.
480 can't be 625mhz or anything, if it was it would be practically indistinguishable from 470.
Which, if everything was linear (which it isn't) would make a 7% better card than 470, which is impossible.
About availability. One week after launch was OK and even "standard practice" but two weeks is a lot, plus whatever changed in the BIOS and the cooler probably won't be reflected in the reviews which have already been written.
That cant be right, can it? Its overclocked and the score is total gash
check my sig...
its getting old and i had hoped to change it in a day or two, but it seems ill have to use it for a few more weeks...
nvidia manipulating the consumer??? gez man! get a grip! they have done no such thing and never will! :D
isnt that with physix?
hmm I get over 12500 GPU pts on an overclocked 4890 with an E8400 :/ So this means an overclocked 470 is only around 30% faster than a 4890? :/
seems pretty trash to me
Wouldn't be surprise if tomorrow I see a lot of sad faces or some going emo and /wrist because of disappointing...not saying I know what results are going to be, but I don't expect a miracle either from what we seen so far.
gpu score 16645 with overclock? I think my 295 does about 18000 points default. Maybe the overclock isn't very hi in 470.
The end of the world is approaching... get ready :D
You're right, previous scores are way too low to have physx enabled.
It indeed does change a lot.
No physx
http://i39.tinypic.com/n2od2a.jpg
Physx On
http://i43.tinypic.com/s6lxrr.jpg
GPU score is higher on first image, but P-score is lower due to physx.
ah my bad. yes that makes sense as I've just looked at my 260 and 4890 runs on my old E8400 and the 4890 has a much higher GPU score but the 260 has a better overall P-score due to the massive cpu score :/ ghey
futuremark is blocking physix enabled cpu scores, i think you can upload it but it doesnt show up in the orb when you search for results, or it doesnt show up in the rankings...
mhm i just noticed the extra bit of text on my physx enabled result :D
Either way that score posted is quite bad :sQuote:
Please note that this result does not comply with the rules defined in the Driver Approval Policy for 3DMark Vantage and will not be visible on default result search on the ORB or on the Hall of Fame. Please ensure that you are using approved display drivers and system software versions provided with 3DMark Vantage or use the "Disable PPU" option.
I'm getting 20219 without physx.
Vantage score doesn't represent the real game performance.
Just wait till Sony turns the emotion engine on guys, real time Toy Story graphics!!!!!
hmm my overclocked 4850 ran dirt 2 better than my gtx 280
it must be fake then, fermi is going to be twice as fast as their fastest current card... :D
how much does a gtx285 score again?
hahh yeah, marketing ftw :D
and i remember nvidias cineFX pr stuff... games will look like hollywood movies on your geforce fx! (at 0.001fps :p: )
So a £300 GTX 470 is on par with my crossfired 5770s for £240?
<----- Happy :)
(I could actually sell my 5770s and get one of those).
ZipZoomFly had the Asus GTX 470 listed for $450..... WOW
hmmm dont remember that one... but im sure ati did the same... im not saying its just nvidia, its pr in general... its usually the most funny when they try to convince normal non technical and uninformed customers about the features of their latest products. companies will come up with the wildest claims :D
i remember intel making a weird remark at idf about nehalem, saying it will cure cancer, reduce the costs of gas and oil and help us explore space... cause thats what scientists use cpus for... still, its a pretty far stretch to claim a small chunk of molten sand will cure cancer and reduce our gasoline bill etc
why wow? isnt it slower than a 5870 which is 399?
i thought it was supposed to be 349?
or do you mean wow as in 100$ more than rumored?
metro 2033 benchmarks at xbitlabs... 5870 performs the same or better as a 295... weird... i thought this was an nvidia optimized game?
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...3_4.html#sect1
Not a shock to me.
Afterall, I was calling it (another) $600+ launch since Sept (cause of extreme costs and precendent and all).
And kindly rebuking those "its gonna launch in Nov for $299-$399" crazies.
Fermi threads have been so crazy, I don't think anything can be shocking - not even the unicorn included with every EVGA GTX480 :)
wasn't nvidia suggesting retail prices of $380 and $480?
i just realized... GTX480 with 480 shaders for $480. silliness.
Just ordered a pair of 5870 Vapor-X and I'll sit and watch to decide whether to RMA them or not :) Can't waste more ages for my new rig.
thats not silliness, this is patrick after he picked up a GTX480 for $480
http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/8766/sw75344032.gif
See what happens when you base expectations on random forum ramblings? ;) Did the developer claim it was an nvidia optimized game?
