If i could get rid of this noise i would`ve laughed too.
I'am running prime now for an hour or so and i found out that sometimes the sound stops for a minute or so and then starts again. First thought was that it has something to do with the iteration change in prime but after a little observation it doesn't seem to be :(

hey guys ... i recently bit the bullet and have installed vista x64 on one of my drives... i gotta admit its pretty decent. compared to back in the beta days when i tested it they seem to have added a lot of driver compatibility.
anyways, what was the deal with the speedstep or c1e stuff ?? are there things i need to disable to make sure it doesn't speedstep my rig or something? i set the power plan to high performance is that all i need to do ??

As far as I'm aware if you experience problem with that you can use rmclock to disable all powersaving functionality of your CPU and OS :)

Just came back from office place.
Just started the PC and tried some FSB only OC.
This is the result so far... wanna try to find a stable config orthos tested at least at 3.2 ghz 400x8, but still have problems changing the multiplayer in the bios.

tonight I just found a quite interesting thing, when I priming my Q6600 at 3.6g @ 1.4v at load without a fan blowing the digital PWM the temp is only 60 at core temp 95, while the temp suddenly goes up to 67 once I have a fan blowing to the PWM and the load vcore goes up to 1.42v.....:confused:
anyone has came across this shift of temp of cpu vs temp of PWM?
I know this is not XtremeStandby.org or something, but has anyone gotten S3 standby with Vista working at all? My PC starts to standby, but all of a sudden, all the HDDs click off and then come right back on immediately.
IIRC, it used to work with my C2D, but it seems to not work when i plopped in the C2Q.

hlonipha, I must've got a real POS of an e6850. I've been struggling just to get this thing stable at 3.7ish on this mobo with water (its not 100% stable even at 3.7). I read virtual's blog and various other tips on how to tune for this mobo but no luck so far.

last night when I changed the nb sink to waterblock, first it boot well but after I plug in the switch and all other front panel pin, the mobo start for 2,3 seconds then stop, I suspected it was the nb overheat cos the wb not contact nicely, so I press it down then restart, it start but not post, it stop at code 88 even I take all the ram, display card off, cmos clear, take the battery off and on, disconnected and reconnected the power cord....
did I burn the nb chip?
is there a C1E option in our bios anywhere?

Yes, best performance came under the 521 bios. Unfortunately once things heat up the multiplier drops to 6 which really suxs. The 723 beta bios corrected this problem but all the previous overclock settings from any earlier bios don't work & I've not hit over 358FSB stable with it.Quote:

Swiftech TEC Cooler
I cant get it to go any higher then 3.1Ghz. My temps are 3.150.00Ghz is -6c running 350x9
I tired to move the cpu volts up to 1.6 and back down to 1.45 it makes no difference it wont post.
I leave the ram to unlinked so i am just OC'ing the CPU
I also tried to give the NB some more volts, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
How can i get up to 4Ghz with this thing? Any help would be amazing.
Have anyone experienced any improvements with this new bios (7/23) compared to the 0521 bios using an E6850 or GO stepping?

The system wont post over 1400FSB with my DFI board., i have to reset the bios and start over. I am leaving the ram to un-linked.
I tried to set the vcore to 1.5 , 1.6 etc, nothing helps. I am running stock atm until someone fills i nthe blanks for me on why this thing wont post.
Shouldnt i be able to get 4.0Ghz+ easy with my cooler?
I had a old 6400 and I could get that to run at 3.8Ghz no the stock cooling, now i have this newer cpu and i cant get past 3.0....

My instinct is that you need way more vCore than 1.425 for 3.8GHz. Also, at those kind of FSB, you will need to tweak GTL. You very well may have hit a wall at that FSB/MHz (I don't know anyone that's got a quad running at that speed on this board) but you won't know til you give it max juice and tweak GTL. i was able to boot once into windows @ 4.02Ghz CPU at 1.6 and NB was 1.5something... Since then i haven't been able to boot with those settings.
Even at 3.8Ghz its not prime stable, after 5 -10mins the system will hang. Not sure if its the cpu or something else that needs more or less volts.

Hey guys, I got my new CPU today, I have a Q6600 with B3 Stepping. We tested this CPU on a intel motherboard with the same Ram and we were able to get 3.8Ghz before it got too hot for the thermaltake cooler we tested it with. So since it pasted our test on the other motherboard I figured lets put the tec on it to see what it can do on this DFI motherboard.
So far we are able to get only 75Mhz over stock????
Everything you re-boot it hangs on error code 18..
No matter what clock or vcore or NB vcore it gives the error code 18
Anyone else have any problems with the Q6600 not posting? If so you have one, please kindly share your settings..
Another weird problem. Using Everest cpu benchmark photoworks, on the dfi motherboard stock clock it gets 12000 , on the intel motherboard it gets 26000
Same ram same CPU, what is going on here? The DFI motherboard says to be the best on the market, so far it runs like a ECS!!

This board is not as easy to setup as any other boards outthere. You are not going to slap that quad and raise FSB to xxx mhz. It is just not going to happend. You need to spend sometime with the board and read about each setting and use the trial and error method of testing.Quote:

sigh ... just found out that cant realy use 4CTST521 BIOS , even at stock clocks it eventualy drops multi to x6 . It's been almost a month since QX6850 hit Retail and still no BIOS to support that CPU ? Not even at least a beta ? :confused: Cmon DFI ... why are you doing this to us ? :shakes:
1) 4CTST521 - serious FSB overclock issues , multi drops to x6
2) N5FD723 - theres no unlocked multi :mad: , x6 multi drop issues under question ... still testing .
so is the 723 the best bios for the Q6600 G0 stepping? or is that still 521?
Personally this board is not good for overclocking quads yet. The 521 bios is the best but once things heat up, the multipiler drops to 6. I'm waiting on thermalrights new pwm cooler or I'm gonna have to break down and add water cooling to 'em. The 723 bios flat out suxed for me. I could get nowhere near the overclocks I got with the 521 bios.

What BIOS is best for this board for C2Ds?
I'm using 0521 but someone here told me that he liked the 723 better (got better results) I think I will try it(0723) this weekend.Quote:

each time I got 88 error code I was able to bet the board to post when I switched from quad core to dual core.

Yeah this mobo is pretty busted if you ask me. Too much time for results you can get eslewhere with far less time.
Hi all, I am trying this motherboard with a Q6600 B3, I am so noob that I can't understand witch BIOS is in the motherboard. I discovered with Everest that the BIOS date is 05/21/07 so I suppose that the BIOS is the 2CTST521 or the 4CTST521 but I really couldn't understand more.
I suppose that the 2CTST521 BIOS comes by default, but I am not sure. Please tell me:
1) How to find the exact BIOS that I have on the motherboard.
2) If I can try the new N5FD723, I read that this BIOS could be a motherboard-killer.

EDIT: I forgot to say that my motherboard is the DFI 680i LT T2RS and not the DFI 680i LT T2R ;).
I wuold aslo like to know, if possibile, if there is some vDrop MOD (pencil) on this motherboard that you can do to fix the IDLE - FULL voltage difference ;).
