has anyone experenced there pullins channels A-4/A-5-B-4/B-5 disappearing after changing settings in bios? sometimes after reboot they reappear, but most of the time need to reset cmos.
i always try to enable them cause it seems like increases my bandwidth as if i lowering about a half of a pl.(7.5) instead of 8.im starting the rma proccess,so i need to get a new board any recommendations? also thanks for your help w/this issue GrnFinger
I enabled all pull-ins
rebooted 15 times, they were there everytime.

As for motherboards if price is not a factor then Rampage X48 is what I would suggest.
But if you cross ship your RMA you will have a MIIF is under a week
What kinda bandwidth are you getting now?
I have a decent setup for F2-8500CL5D
@ Grnfinger , IM getting 8700 read 10067 write and 9500 copy at 475fsb PL10, timings 5-5-5-15, everything else set to auto, thanks.
Thats about the best I can do @ 1132MHz
have you tried a lower PL?
I'm running PL8 but my timings are rather relaxed to get them stable

Hi,

Anyone has a MIIF with P45 rev. A3?
does anyone know if a Sunbeam core-contact freezer HSF will fit this? the black retension brackets looks like it would hit the left and top mosfet sinks.

Based on info I gathered from following this thread, I have my Q6700 rock solid at 3720MHz (465x8). During 4 hours of OCCT and 2 hrs of Prime 95, max load temp on any core was 54c. However, I just feel I can go higher. I'm not even taking advantage of that x10 multiplier. 400x10 would seem like a natural. I've tried vcore at 1.5v and the memory at 1.9v (G.Skill stated max), but can't get stable beyond 3720MHz. I've been able to boot into windows Vista 64, but it quickly bombs out to a black screen and reboot. What other settings do I need to tinker with? what setting do I need to post for you to have a look at? 4000MHz would be nice. Thanks!!!
Hey! I'v just got my new Asus Maximus II Formula, Can som Post (Or Re-post) some picz of their Bios-settings?
I've got an E1200 celeron CPU (yeah, i know - it sucks :P). I have reaced 3.45 ghz (1.425 volt) already, but i want to get longer, and since i haven't change anything besides volt-settings, frequency, and disabled all that Eist-function :banana::banana::banana:.
Someone?
"Off course" am running my systems on Air, one Scythe Zipang, hopefully i will get True :)
So is it anyone that has dual-core CPU running on air.
anyone with a q9450 get above 488fsb???
If you guys don't know (I'm sure you do though :) ) there's a GTL thread on how to set them http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/....php?p=3359012
What about the NB GTL refs and the DDR ChA and ChB and NB DDR refs? How do we set those. Why the hell is it so hard to find info on these things? I hate how the motherboard manual only states what options the setting can go to and not what the thing actually does.
ddr refs are 0.5x Vdimm, offsetting those references is mainly useful to squeeze the last bit out of the sticks, or clean up a dirty signal at high frequencies. nb gtlref works the same way as cpu gtlref, it is based off Vtt but normally needs a smaller multiplier than its cpu counterpart.
Well I need to squeeze the last bit out of my sticks even though they aren't on their last bits. I've got a problem with 8GB of 2GB sticks where they won't overclock to 1130 even. Maybe a bad one out of the bunch or maybe together as 8GB they just are too much. Thanks again for the useful piece of info.
Allow the NB DDR ref and the DDR Ref ChA/B to simply scale up and down with vdimm (ie: leave them on auto), but you can increase them slightly to help clean up a dirty signal and as Mike said, squeeze the last out of them.
Have you tried using the ram skews and advancing the channels by 200 - 350ps? That should aid the ram stability and overclocking.
Alright I'll leave them on auto. I've tried ram skews but it still didn't help my stability with anything over 1066mhz
EDIT - I give up with these rams. Either one of them are busted or don't want to oc one bit or the board can't handle 8GB over 1066 even though it supports DDR2 1200 or just that these rams I have are crap.
What do you mean by that exactly? if it's at 950, that's 950 performance you're seeing. Are you saying due to the higher FSB & 950 ram you get better performance than when running lower FSB and faster ram? If so that's to be expected, FSB has a large effect on bandwidth & latency.
A little off topic but is it true that this board only supports 8X8 PCIE 2.0 for crossfire??
Isn't that a severe limitation for a supposed ROG board I mean doesn't that severely limit the performance of the video cards?? Any one have any insight about this???
I am gravely concerned that when I plug another 4870 into the second slot I am going to get 8X8 which from my understanding is NOT GOOD???
Dude, your not gonna see the difference with your eyes, only in bench's, and then its slight....

Yeah I wonder how it affects things in real world performance I am currently reading some reviews and it seems that this is a benefit over the P35 but not full 16X PciE capabilities like an X38 and X48 board, which for the money we paid for this board seems kind of disheartening...
I actually got higher scores in 03mark with the P45 chipset, over the x38 with dual x16. Runnin a 26" Soyo monitor to game on, the 3870's are workin hard to push that res with all the eye candy turned on, but i play BF2 with everything maxed in CCC, with no issues....
Really happy with the board, just wish it had some better bandwidth with more than 2gb of memory....

This board seems to have great RAM clocking ability, I managed to get my Dominator 1250 kit to run 1200 4-4-4-12 with only 2.4V BIOS set. Another thing I like is that it doesn't overvolt VDDR by much, only about 0.01V checked with DMM.
Hello,
I've a problem. When I start my system it restarts three times and then after a short time it begins to boot. Then comes the post "A boot failure event happend on BIOS2". Does anyone know how I can solve the problem. It's very annoying to wait so long till the system is in Winodws. I hope you can help me.
I'm having problem booting P4 651 on this board, but no problem on Commando. Anyone can solve this problem?
I need som help, I've found that my tracers (new singlesided version 4*1 GB) won't do anything on my board. So wanna get some new ram preferable 2x2 GB that will do 1066 or even 1200. I can't even get my tracers stable at 1000.
Any recommendations? I don't wanna spend 1 week tweaking them just to get them stable. I just wanna put them in there and run them 1:1 with my FSB of 533 MHz. Cellshock? G. Skill? Apogee?
Oh my rig is a gamerig not much for benching.
I was thinking about:

Gambit even these cheapo Gskills do 1130mhz on the E and Dlx mobo's (450FSB - 266 strap and 1130 on the ram) - 1066 is no problem on them
I see no reason to cash out here mate

Has anyone had the "CPU INIT" error with this board? From what I've read it is not too infrequent of an occurrence with the Striker boards. Had just assembled a rig consisting of (CPU and mobo brand new):
MIIF mobo
e8600 with TRUE 120 push/pull fans
4x1gb crucial ballistix 1066 (the oldies-double sided memory banks)
evga 9800gtx
wd raptor
pcp&c 750 watt psu
antec 1200 case
winxp64
I had loaded the OS without issue and had already run (DOS based) memtest for several rounds without errors. Then a few minutes into running two instances of windows memtest, the computer powered down. I tried powering back on the system numerous times which only resulted in the system fans and led's coming on for a few seconds or flickering on and off repeatedly for a few seconds, but it wouldn't post and LCD monitor displayed "CPU INIT". I tried resetting CMOS (pulled battery), tried BIOS 2 jumper, tried a different pcp&c psu from another computer, tried booting with only cpu, graphics card, and only one stick of RAM, but no love.
At the time of the crash I was running 8x450fsb, vcore 1.26, CPU PLL 1.5, vdimm 2.1, vFSB 1.25, vNB 1.29, mem at 5-5-5-15 with 333 strap, all else pretty much on auto. Temps before crash looked ok according asus probe- cpu low 40's and NB 47C.
RMA time for the mobo? The board was purchased from local retailer and still within return period...I was going to swap it for a new one.
Hey there,
I've been following this thread for a while now, since I too got an M2F. Ever since I got it,
it has been nothing but trouble and frustration. When I first recieved the board only changing
the AI overclock tuner option to manual would made it fail to post, after getting some help
from another forum we fixed the problem. On my former XFX nForce 780i board I was able to run
my lapped Xeon 3110 at 4.2Ghz @ 1.37v and ram set to 1171mhz. Now even 3.6 isn't getting stable.
I'll post my specs and make a small list of what strange problems I'm experiencing.
My Specs;
Intel Xeon 3110 Lapped
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme Lapped
Asus Maximus 2 Formula bios 1307 & Ket's 1307
Corsair Dominator Pc8500-C5D 2x2Gb
Corsair Dominator Airflow Fan
Gainward Radeon HD4870 875/4800
Thermalright HR-03GT
Level-One WBR-0601 W-NIC
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 2x750Gb RAID 0
Antec Truepower Quattro 850w
My Problems;
PC fails to post when changing PCIE frequency and hangs at "DET_RAM"
PC fails to post when changing GTL voltages
PC fails to start windows when overclocked even a little bit (like 400x9 @ 1.4v)
PC fails to post when USB devices are attached when overclocked.
PC needs alot of voltages when attempting an overclock (1.8v CPU PLL 1.5V Vcore 1.4 vFSB)
If the system does post it hangs with BSOD "IRQ not less or equal" error.
and it's overall very unstable.
I did try changing some components (CPU, RAM, VGA) to see if it would solve the problems but
unfortunately after 2 months I hardly have had any fun with it and seeing as some of you get
4Ghz out of a Q9550 ;) I really hope you guys can help me out a little.
By the way I've been into overclocking for a long long time now.
Greetings,
ECPowers
Pop the chip and clear the cmos, put the chip back in and see how it goes.
I know its a bit of a hassle but it will take less time than an RMA.
For now get rid of Ket's bios and flash back to an Asus bios.
IRQ not less or equal to is a ram error, so start there.
You want to manually enter each value and set everything to stock speed, then test stability.
Once you have stock running stable you can move up.
Start by clocking the chip first and testing the CHIP ONLY, once its stable you can bring the ram into play.
Trying to do it all at once makes it very hard to pinpoint the problem.
Thanks for the quick reply Grnfinger!
I'll give that a try. I'm curious though...could a CPU INIT error like the one I've described by an indicator of a faulty board (or CPU)? Or have you seen this error message before on this board when your OC settings caused a reboot?
Yes it could be caused by a faulty board, and no I have never seen it hand on CPU INIT when overclocking.
The board sounds like it has issues, but as Grnfinger said, try the Asus 1307 BIOS and the oter suggestion first. I have used Kets bios for the board with no issues so I know the BIOS works, but its worth a try. The fact it needed excessive voltages to overclock may indicate something wrong with the VRM.
are these good over clock speeds?

For the past week i've been playing with EVGA 780i FTW, MSI p&N Diamond, Rampage Formula and a MIIF. The Maximus i am the most pleased with so far.
I've ran a couple of 1 hour Blend/Small FFT with no errors. Definatley more to Stability tests to come.
Memory is on auto, i'll tweak that after i find my max fsb. Needless to say I'm pleased with this 9650 and Maximus II Formula.

I had the error once when swapping cpu's, I pop'd the Q6700 and got a CPU INIT error, cleard cmos ect and still would not post.
After reseating the cpu it never happended again. If it happens frequently then I would suggest RMA'ing the board.
Thats a nice chip you have there
I askd to flash back to a Asus bios to help eliminate a ram issue, ruling out hacks and mods would be the first logical step imo. Seeing as Ket just copies memory tables and calls it something special (plagiarism comes to mind) when he is clearly having a ram related issue I thought it would be a good idea, I have tried Kets bios and see zero improvement with my hardware so I see no reason to run something when I have no idea what was modded if anything at all. I think its more a education/learning thing but yes his board could be bork'd,
I totally agree with the suggestion and the reasoning behind it, that's why I backed it up. I actually run Asus BIOS now as Ket's gives no improvement for me. I just said that I'd run Ket's BIOS without issues to assuage any fears that he had flashed a dodgey BIOS to his board.
Hello,
anyone figure out how to run the bottom PCI-E slot at x16 with one video card? I know Asus claims both slots are x16 with one video card, and auto-switch to x8 mode with two video cards. But with my 4870x2 it shows in the CCC as x8 when in the bottom slot, but x16 when in the top slot. Both CPU-Z and GPU-Z shows x16 no matter which slot I have it in.
Any ideas?
Yes I did see a slight perf diference but only had time to check in cod4. Never went over 150fps on the bottom slot but seem to stay around 110 or so, but did manage to see a few 300+ fps moments on the top slot, but over all seems about the same really between 130-150 on the top slot. Did not do any synthetic benchies as I just got the card installed a few hours ago and have to remove it yet again to install the EK fc water block (Currently making sure the card works before going thru the trouble). REALLY wanted to run the card in the bottom slot for tidyness and to keep the extra heat as far away from the NB, memory and cpu as possible. Besides, it just looks better that way. Any way to know for sure if its a bug in ccc or really at x8 on the bottom slot?
The G.Skill runs fine at 1200, but I keep it at 1100 because I like the stock 1.8v better than 1.9... I love this memory tho.... seems to play nice both on my P5B Dlx and this MaxIIForm.
it is possible to boot from SpeedingHDD as a raid-0 config in bios yes?
And use it as the C: for windows install.
Seen some info that it can't boot from speeding HDD as a main drive.
Anyone running on the 266 strap with FSB above 450?
If so can you provide some voltage's, been trying to run 459 FSB on the 266 strap 1147MHz ram will post but wont boot into vista.
Running out of ideas here and open to suggestions
Yes, I tried the hotfix ones, newer than the official 8.10's. But I doubt this is the problem. Wish I could find someone on the internet who can confirm there card runs at x16 in the bottom slot.
Going to install fresh copy of Vista 64 to see if that changes anything on the CCC info page. Also will try official 8.10 release... May also move card back to bottom slot and see what Everest says, but so far GPU-Z and CPU-Z says bottom slot is working at x16 but CCC says x8. Maybe I should try testing with 3Dmark or Crysis bench at highest possible settings to see what happens in both slots.
I need to know for sure. Thanks
Guys, looking for advice on a problem and hoping you can help. The reason I got this board is that my DFI P35 died on me eventually. Slowly, it became harder and harder to get it to boot. At first, it took a couple of tries before it booted, then 3-5, then quickly it escalated to the point where I could not get it to boot anymore. I am seeing the same problem starting on my M2F. It's not taking me 1-3 tries to get it to boot, even at just stock settings. Something is putting a lot of pressure on the motherboard, it feels like, and is causing it to degrade until it won't start anymore. The components I have that were on the DFI P35 are these: CPU (QX9650) and RAM (2 GB G.Skill DDR2 800 non-MicronD9). I am suspecting that the RAM may be killing my motherboards. Does anyone else have any feelings about this?
My other components: Radeon 4870 X2 (bought after the M2F)
Areca 8 port RAID card PCIE
Tbalancer fan controller
Auzentech sound card (same from DFI)
Corsair 1Kw PSU (bought after M2F)
@ elsupremo, are you on the 1307 bios? Improve compatibility with some PCI-E Raid Cards. But not sure which ones.
Well, even Everest shows the bottom slot to be running at x16 as does GPU-Z and CPU-Z. But I get slight fps increases going to the top slot. Results below.
Run #1- DX10 1900x1200 AA=16xQ, 32 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 28.6375 (bottom slot) 5 Runs
Run #1- DX10 1900x1200 AA=16xQ, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 27.96 (bottom slot) 5 Runs
Run #1- DX10 1900x1200 AA=16xQ, 32 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 31.2525 (Top slot) 5 Runs
Run #1- DX10 1900x1200 AA=16xQ, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 29.1025 (Top slot) 5 Runs
One things for sure not much difference from top slot to bottom slot, or 64bit to 32bit. But there is clear enough evidence that the bottom slot is in fact x8. Anyone agree?
I have not tried the beta 8.11's yet.
I still have a ways to go but here is where I am with this board.
Grnfinger is there anyway my crossfire problems could be related to the autoed 8X8 Pcie lanes?? Will that affect performance that noticeably?? Also I updated to the new drivers and now I seem to be back to about the same performance as I am with one card.. It hurts to say that out loud... My GTX SLI murders CF performance not even close....
They say there is little to no noticable loss. I cannot confirm this for I only have a 3870X2. Altho it was a pain in the a$$ I moved my card from the top to bottom slot.
No difference in performance, 3DMark and Vantage scored about the same.
Everest shows it at 16x top or bottom.
I would be interested in that....I have been having issues with my rig all weekend. My once stable 4.0GHz is failing every test will pass linpak 10 loops one time then fail the next. run 3-4 hours prime no problems then the next run fail in 19 mins.
So I dialed back to my 12 hour prime stable 3.9GHz setting same freaking problem, not stable! Getting frustrated at this
Any of these with the A3 revision chipset yet ??
Seems the Gigabyte EP45-UDP's are using this latest revision to good effect !
New NB water block from Swiftech compatible with the M2F (and Rampage):
https://www.jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MC...r-pr-4272.html
Good thing is that it comes with 1/2" chrome barbs, and should be compatible with future ROG boards.
Ok well for 445 FSB PL8 on the 266 strap I run my vNB at 1.27225v, NB GTL Ref on auto. However because you have a quad obviously you'll need more voltage for stability. I know you know what you're doing but what have you tried to regain stability other than down clocking to 3.9GHz?
I have had similar instability over the past few days, and actually needed to increase my GTL's a little to regain stability.
The only thing i have to go on is personal experiance with this board, i stuck the same 3870's in that i ran in my P5E, and was able to clock the proc to 3.75, (which the P5E wouldnt do stable). This x8 setup instantly got me over 4000 points more in 03 mark....
I dont call this a "sucky" board for crossfire....
I assume you have done a comparison????
9x450, even with vcore upped to 1.5v, doesn't give me a stable OC. I probably need to list my Bios settings in order for anyone to advise. Is there a good (i.e., easier) way to capture that for posting - is is it just a matter of copying it donw and typing it into a post here?
Just write your settings into the template we have been using to post settings in this thread and embed it using PHP code so it doesn't take up too much room.
Does this board have compatibility problems with some mems? Meaning like Transend axeram or A-Data? I just cant get even 450FSB stable with any of setting wich have been posted here : / Even with solarfalls posted settings arent stable (this is his old mobo). Eventhought that ppl voltage is too low (1,51 is nearly the standart).
PPL 1,51
FSB ter. vol. 1,33
NB 1,43
One thing i havent tried yet is older bios with those setting.
CPU cant be the problem, cause this e8600 goes just fine with biostar Tpower. Mems are A-Data Vitesta Extreme PC2-6400+ and transend axerams with micron D9GMH chips.
I have upped VTT PLL GTL's same damn thing core 4 fails at the 1 hour 19-22 min mark in prime BUT will pass 10 loops of linpak but run it twice and it fails 1out of 10 loops
I suppose it could be burn in, ran the chip hard since it was new just didnt want to up vCore any more.
This is not Grandma's house if your affraid to push you chip then I think your in the wrong forum:rofl:
And you really think I post my final settings?
@Grnfinger,
Just wanted to say thanks for all the help you have given me. The DVD download was way beyond the call of duty and I really appreciate it.
Sorry I wasn't trying to be a jerk it's just that I spent a bunch of time in the ATi threads asking questions and these new cards get bottlenecked if they don't have the bandwith I guess it's a problem with the 4000 series cards more than anything else the whole 10.1 and Pcie 2.0 with GDDR5 needs the maximum through-put or you experience this sort of loss of FPS.. At least I know I am not crazy I just spent sooo much time trying to dial in the settings to no avail... I meant no disrespect I think I was tired and frustrasted when I posted that I am sorry...
Almost sounds heat related, what temp does it get to in Linpack and does it get hotter when running it for the second time when it fails 1/10 tests? Have you tried increasing vNB a couple of notches and re-testing?
Also have you tried increasing vcore a notch or two? It could be through its burn in phase.
Glad you sorted it out. That's what happened to mine, I've had to increase the vcore 32mv from what used to be stable, and now I think it is through the burn in phase (hopefully). When it first happened it really confused me, I looked at everything else first then finally gave in and increased vcore; problem solved.
i got the speeding hdd controller too boot, but i thinks its because the first drive on the intel port is a bootable vista drive.
Still not sure if its able to boot from the speeding hdd alone.
You ought to be able to boot from the speeding setup, you just have to install the os on the speeding controler to do it....
A follow up on my board which rebooted during windows memtest and subsequently got "stuck" at CPU INIT and wouldn't post anymore- I removed the CPU (e8600) and cleared CMOS then popped it back in- still no post with LCD still showing CPU INIT. I even tried a different CPU (an e6850) and still no post. So I brought it back to the store and swapped it for a new one (techs at store did a perfunctory test on the board and declared it defective).
I think the old board had my RAM for breakfast though! I had 4x1GB sticks of ballistix (my cherished vintage double sided memory bank variety) in it when it crapped out, and now when I put them back in another setup (where they were working fine before I pulled them for the MIIF) they immediately throw thousands of errors in memtest at stock speed and voltage.
I do have a general memory question(s): All things equal, will 2x2GB sticks or 4x1GB sticks require more NB voltage on this board, and given the choice between the two, what would most people prefer to use if they wanted 4GB of memory?
Thanks for the advice.
