The sticker on the ram sticks say that it is 5-4-4-15. OCZ's website says it needs 2.10V, but I put 2.15V just in case. The ram is fine, because it's been used in an athlon64 X2 system before, with higher clocks at the same timings. CPU tweak is indeed on, and microcode is now disabled.

By the way, what does the microcode update do?

Unfortunately I don't have 2x1gb of ram to test the system with, so I guess 2x2gb will have to do lol. I will definitely take your advice with using cinebench to test for stability. However, I'm not sure what 'slower than normal' means... is a score of 9529 on the "Multiple CPU Render Test" good?

With 2 x 2GB of ram you may need to increase the processor NB voltage a few notches, in some cases you need to set it higher than the cpu voltage, all depends on how good your NB is. What clock skew is the mobo setting?

Oh okay, I didn't realize that NB might need that much higher voltage. I'll give 1.25V a try for now, and i'll try bumping it up if it doesn't work well.

The "AI Clock Skew" for both Channel A and B are set to auto, and it says "Delay150ps"

1.25V on the processor NB is the default voltage, to run my 2 x 2GB Flex II's I need to run 1.2875V. 4GB is a fair load on the NB.
You may not need 2.15V on the ram, always run the lowest you can get away with.
The skew is correct for 800 MHz, higher MHz may require you to adjust the skew.

I mean the open-gl test. I've used it enough to know about where it should be for certain speeds, but if for some reason it drops to 4100 or 4200, its generally the nb needing voltage assuming your memory is rock stable. My best multicore is 9800 something, I think I did that at 11.5x267. I ran into a few problems so I dropped back to 265htt to figure stuff out.

I keep getting about ~4200 points in the OpenGL test, and about 9700-9750 points in the multicore test. I have both the NB and the cpu at 1.2750V right now, and it appears to be stable after 100% load overnight (~12 hours). Overclocking doesn't appear to work at all though. I can't even increase to 2.6ghz with 13*200, and that appears to be the case no matter what cpu voltage I use. If I go any higher than the stock 2.5ghz, I can't even boot into vista.

Edit: still got some instabilities with 1.275V on the NB, so I upped it to 1.30V, and now everything appears to be good. Overclocking is still a challenge though.

The system is in no way completely stable, its all the fault of the memory though. Sadly if I change the divider I get no boot at all so it has to run at these high speeds. But yeah... we are talking 3.1ghz B2 on a 790Fx board. And then look at my vcore... I really need high htt stable on the 667 divider to clock this thing higher. I'm going to to blend overnight at 11.5x262 to try and iron things out... I want my 3.1ghz stable :yepp:.

That's exactly problem I was facing with my ASUS. I'm no expert in BIOS or mem. settings, but I'm getting feelings that by setting mem div. to 667 mobo's using aggressive SPD settings for 667 speed upon starting up, and since mem is working much higher in reality it simply can't boot up!

does this seams possible?

Well, what happens for me is I have all the timings set for the 800mhz divider. I try dropping the divider to 667mhz, then I reboot. The keyboard lights light up like its about to boot up, but then it just doesn't boot. The timings are 5-5-5-15-25-2t, which should work very well at the 667 divider since thats about "stock" settings its supposed to run at 1066mhz with. I'm working on my 3.15ghz stable though. Memory is just going to be a pain.

Hey, I'm new here this is my first post, i have been at OCC for a while now but all the guys overthere seem to be intel. What I'm after is a easy guide for oc 'in a phenom 9850. I had temp issues with my first one and returned it to Schiphol (Netherlands) and they have replaced it, now i have the feeling that this is a good chip, 1, its from AMD HQ(Europe) and 2, its got to be "of the new batch" (0811 CPMW) I have it at 2.81Ghz (no prizes on how i managed that) but other than putting the multiplier to x14 I am at a loss as what to do next. Any help or links would be nice, pref help!. Btw Mobo is Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe WiFi.

well im back in the 3ghz club on vista64. everything at stock/default. 1066 unganged 15x200 1.45v. after a few ajustments in cpu settings microcode updations disabled, F4 to show that option. cache mapping off, read somewere disbale actualy means no tlb. with those 2 off. i am getting stable results @ 3ghz 1.45v and temps of 45c idle 54c full load on air.

it almost seems as though the bios is in conflict with it self with cpu tweak turning off tlb and these otehr options trying to turn it on then others trying to turn it off. <<< if that makes any since to anyone. 1101 beta is no better either. hopefully they get a new bios out soon that we dont have to guess what options are trying to enable and disable tlb. when those options should not even be showing in the bios at all. with 9850x4

not sure why i had to be back in the 3ghz club. 2.9 was smokin fast, HEHEHEHE my wife calls me finger boi. lol since i can not resist the tweak and peak on the pc.

Edit: forgot i also enabled pll1 and pll2 spread spectrum.

new 1102 bios is out. flashing now. :D

whats the correct AI clock skew for 1066 memorys?

right now mine is set on auto and in the faded text below each channel it shows "advance 300ps"

im thinking its not a big deal, right?.........

i have updated the BIOS to 1102 from 801 (used ASUSupdate no problems) and have noticed when it posts now it shows whether the memory is ganged or unganged and 1066 is now 1067. (just a note)

Have same MB and CPU as you (though earliest batch) ... so to hit 2.8G all you have done so far is the multi? To push it a bit higher, you should increment the voltage, start with a 0.05 volt increment up, then set multi to 14.5 and test for stability, if it is not stable, increment voltage up another 0.05... careful not to go to high on voltage and check relative temps i.e. how much does the temp increase with each increment.

ya leave clock scew on auto. use auto for ram. unless you know your timmings then set it to both and set the timings. for 5-5-5-15 it will be hte 1st the 3 rd,4th,5th options leave rest on auto.

havent look around to much in 1102 but i noticed ganged unganged now has an auto setting on auto my ram was set to unganged. :up:



just set up my water loop tonight. my first one ever. seem to be running higher then my air cooler. so im guessing air in the lines still or to much paste. ill leave it alone for tonight and try to reseat the water block tomorrow and clean and reapply some as5 instead of the ceramic it came with. need to get 2 more barbs for my second external radiator anyway. so gotta change around some hoses when i do that. then all should be at or near abmbient. :)

Anyone have the error "nvd3dumx.dll" with this board and a NV Graphics Card?

I've a 9800GX2 on this mobo, and sometimes when i'm surfing the web, or sometimes even at desktop i've got an error (APPCRASH....WDM.exe...nvd3dumx.dll), and turn off the Aero on Vista 64! :(

I try to change the drivers for the old ones, and i've the exactly the same problem! Anyone have some clue about this?

Everything at default on my M3A32-MVP Deluxe (BIOS 1102 - I had 801, 1002 and got the same error), mems GSKill DDR2 PC2 8500 (8 Layers PCB) F2-8500CL5D-4GB PI (tested mems at 800@5-5-5-15 2.0v/2.1v Ganged and Unganged), AMD Phenom 9850 BE@2500 1.30v.

All default settings inputed manualy on BIOS (CPU multi, NB Multi, Voltages, etc)

@ MFM: try reloading nvidia drivers maybe? or try a different pci-e slot. im using the second one from the top becuase it gets a little better air flow

ahhh i fiured it out...

in ganged mode it shows:

Auto
DCT 0
DCT 1
Both (shows timings twice)

and in unganged mode it jsut shows:

Auto
Both (only show timings once)

anyways maybe this will help some peeps. there is some much with this mobo jeez

well seems with new sis soft the verdict it that ganged dual channel memory is fastest why or how did i even think that single channel was faster or more stable. uggggg

why would i want 2 or 4 stick of ram to run in single channel. LOL watch your memory in overdrive benchmark vs both ganged and unganged.

anyway got my water hooked up and well ya its much cooler. but in vista 64 max OC is still 3ghz. guess that is the limit of my cpu in vista 64. have not retried 32 bit but can imagine it has changed.

but im now gettting the same temps as stock @ 3ghz :) actualy a little lower then stock temps.

stock on air was 42c idle and 50c load. now on water @ 3010mhz 39-40c idle 46-47c load.

this is my first water set up ever. so not sure if its true. but i know as5 takes a few days to really get set to get the lowest temps and they say a few days to get all the air out of the water. so we'll see if it goes lower. i think im doing good with those results so far though.


ps: OLDGUY in 32 bit i kept nb and ht at stock or lower. and 1.37 was th magic voltage for 3.1ghz. didnt matter the htt or multi. end result was the same speed on ram, ht, nb and cpu. i cant imagine im the only one noticing that. i have seen that posted or eluded to somwere else.

that your final OC will be the same as your highest multi lowest htt or your highest htt with low multi. not sure why that is. I dont think it has anything to do with SB either. think it just the cpu you get. magic pins with sb750. is just smoke and mirrors i think.

having some pretty good luck with my phenom 9850 today...

my system is not stable anymore not sure if my cpu is fubared or if its just this new bios.

Concerning my bsod problem again... I used to get many different STOP errors. but now I only get this one: "A clock interrupt was not receive on a second allocated processor", with a STOP 0x00000101. From posting on the asus forums about this, it seems that some people get it while others don't have this problem. I flashed to the new 1102 bios yesterday and the situation persists. this particular bsod would occur once every 24 hours or so, and it can occur while idle or 100% load. has anyone else also come across this particular bsod with this motherboard (or during other situations)? I've literally tried everything... both the processor (9850BE) and the NB voltages are at 1.325V, and they are at stock speeds. Memory is at 2.16V (2x2gb ddr2-800; 5-4-4-15), and is memtest-stable in unganged mode.

You can change fans or then go for Water cooling (MFM is helping me choosing a nice setup, WC noob here :) ).

I tested a TuniqTower and my CPU temps didn't get any better, in fact PWM, Chipset temps raised.

the CPU VDDA definitly helps alot.

not really sure on the northbridge tab, but i saw somewhere these same settings and decided to try it out. stable so far. try it let me know how u do?
