very nice theoldtimer, that is a nice 550. i might have to try one too
Looks like you got a good 550 too oldtimer... ;)
I have to agree, my 550X2 is by far the best Bang for the Buck I've ever had!
(There aren't too many MicroCenters, you live near Cincinnati?)
Anyway... Heres my results.
My machine is probably similar to your crazy Uncle's '72 Nova. Built from junkyard parts, and pretty ugly, but it just might give your fancy Mitsubishi twin turbo a run for it's money.... :D
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3..._3D06_play.png
I didn't really try too hard to get this result, but I did shut down unnescessary background tasks etc...
This was ran on the Gear in my sig with one exception, I bought a 4870/512 for $130 on Saturday. So this is a 4870/4850 Crossfire settup.
The 4850 is going in my HTPC box eventually, but I just couldn't resist playing with Xfire for awhile.... ;)
Junkyard parts are where it’s at Dave, if you saw my test rig; the first thing that came to your mind would be (junkyard). Good looks are great for the show but what’s under the hood makes it go. Function before fashion works for me.
I know you have a nice 550 that’s what helped me decide to try the one I have.

Well, I moved the 4850 to the HTPC box so I won't have any high scores for awhile but I thought I'd do this in the proper format...
With any luck maybe I can still make the list next time MSIMAX updates (Thanks BTW!).

theoldtimer you need one of these chips, major improvement over the 955.
Great score man, way to go, it appears as though you received a good chip.
Yeah, I ordered my 965/125W Saturday and it’s on the truck for delivery today.
I just hope it’s better than my 550be as it was better than my 965/140W chip. I wish the 555be would have come out at the same time as the 965/125W because I would have taken the gamble on it rather than the 965/125W.
Your way out there in front of me with that score but I can still see your dust. I may gain on you in January when the outside temp gets down around 0?
Have you had any trouble with your crossfired 4870X2’s dropping out of crossfireX in 3DMark06 as that’s what mine have been doing lately in Vista and Windows7? They stay in crossfireX in every other 3D bench but drop crossfireX only in 3D06.

Just a cheap water run.
I know I could get my cpu clocked quite a bit higher if I wasnt lazy, and took the thing out in the garage where it is around 0 celcius.
Im having trouble with these 5850's clocking, keep getting some kind of hypertransport sync flood, what ever that is?
I will have more time to play with them tomorrow, maybe flash the 5870 bios to them or something. Need to read some more on that subject though.
@charged, I saw your run on the single card, thought is was a great run!
Just so everyone knows, (if you dont already), flashing the 5870 bios to the 5850 works great.
You dont get unlocked shaders, but you do have the default clock of 850/1200.
I tried. :P

I can only wish I had a 5850 or 5870, but my 4850 is like the little train that could in my games, its all I can ask for. 16K is so close but I've tried and tried to break it, alas, I cant.
The 4850 is still a great card! They are fairly cheap right now. If you added another one I bet you would get close to 19k. Take a look at the first page of this thread
and you will see plenty of 4850's.

I just started clocking these new 5770's in crossfire, i think i've only just scratched the surface yet.
Didn't use MSI afterburner to raise Vgpu and have to find a good way to OC both cards equal.

2x Sapphire HD5770 watercooled @ 960/1300
Cosair Dominator GT 2x2GB
^^ Afterburner clocks both cards equally. 9.11's will get you a way better 06 score as well ;)
I think I have a bad 5850. I can overclock one of them to 1.0ghz core, and if I even touch the other one, it artifacts horribly.
Also, getting gray screen, hypertransport sync flood errors.
@zeus, have you checked the settings in afterburner? There is a checkbox for applying settings to both cards. Just an idea!
I did mate, box is checked but doesn't work.
Fortunately amdgputool works for me, got both cards up to 1000/1350 through 3dm06. 23704 marks, working on a better score :).
Ok, did some proper tweaking and reached my goal of 24K:
