    Toshiba will release 14 TB HDD helium filled this year, at least that is what Toshiba stand staff at the Huawei Connect conference 2017 in Shanghai stated when asked about a 14TB helium-filled disk drive. It would arrive "very soon".

    As reported by the register; they confirmed that meant before the end of the year. Such a capacity would leapfrog Seagate's 12TB helium-filled drive. Currently Toshiba's largest disk drive, the MN series NAS drive, holds 8TB, spins at 7,200rp, and uses a 6Gbit/s SATA interface. It was announced in April this year. We have no information on the coming drive's platter count or interface but it's probably going to be SATA.

    As much as I'd like to see a PCIe or 12 Gbps SAS interface, admittedly 6 Gbps SATA is still plenty for a spinner.
    Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
    As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

    I wished they'd concentrate on making drives that aren't DOA and/or last instead of bigger. Of course, some of that is improper packaging for shipping (Yes I'm talking about you Newegg!)
