I'm in the same boat actually. I think some buy the "G's" and put them on a fan controller. I'm thinking of getting the "F's" myself.

    get F fans

you can turn them down to 600 rpm which is inaudible and at full speed they make alot of noise but should be ok for most people

i guess that the Gs are as loud as your gtx295 with stock cooler which is not tolerable for a WC setup (in my opinion)

the SFF21F already move alot of air through thermochill or feser class rads

I have used both but I like the G's on a variable fan controller. They're very quiet when undervolted but provide a bit more power if/when I want it.

I'm running F *edit* I should mention, on a fan controller so I usually run at 1200-1300RPM or so but I have the option of going higher when desired.

I'm running Es. Used to run Fs, but too loud. I notice virtually no difference in performance. Using a PA120.3 in a pull configuration, with the shroud.

I like the g's better. Unless you're really going to run them at 600rpm, the g's will undervolt low enough to be inaudible but still give you headroom to crank them up. For me, even at full tilt they're not loud...

If you're running ~1250rpm take a look at the much cheaper alternative - Swiftech MCRs which are equivalent in performance @ that fan speed

I don't know about the TFC X-Changers but they are a bit better (by like 1C) than the PAs - AFAIK

On the subject, how reliable is the declared power consumption on these?

At the moment I'm using ZM-F3s, which according to published specs consume 4.2W

Looking at these, published specs say they consume 1.2W

Power consumption was irrelevant to me before, but I'm planning a completely different solution for my new build, and the "G"s could be just what the doctor ordered (similar performance to the F3s, better bearings, but at double the price of the F3s though ) if the declared power consumption is realistic.

Edit: I still can't make sense of it... If the fan is rated @ 0.24A (G series) wouldn't the power consumption be 0.24Ax12V=2.88W?

Where are you getting those ratings

S-Flex F is rated for .20A (2.4W) and the G is rated for .24A (2.88W) (judging by the ratings on the stickers of the fans in front of me).

Like most fans, they're an overshoot though

When it is just a couple watts I don't know if it matters much. If it is for money savings I don't know if saving 2W for more upfront cost will save you anything in the long run

I don't know if anyone has actually tested it to be honest, but I would imagine they are fairly accurate.

That's what I thought... 0.24*12=2.88... Probably they made a typo in the shop listing, or maybe they used the power consumption of the "D" series for all the "family" ("D" series is rated 0.1A, so it makes sense...)

The problem is that the controller I'm looking @ only supports 4W/channel, as opposite to the 20W/channel of the one I'm using atm...

And I have no less than 10 fans to rig to the controller...

What about these fans? They look like they are almost the same thing, just not manufactured by sony, hence the lower price as Sony is always a ripoff!! Also, will one of these run 9 s-flex fans or will I need 2? http://www.ncixus.com/products/28082/KM01%2DBK/Scythe/

Am I misreading, Andy ... or did you mean to say it Could NOT handle 5 F's per series, if in fact the 1 amp per channel is correct?

Note ... haven't had too much luck with my Kaze Master with 3 S-Flex E's. But, have to admit I gave up before doing a thorough trouble shooting job.

My vote goes for the S-Flex F - they do a great job full on, and can be dialed back for quiet performance. I have E's as well ... they are good, but perhaps missing a bit on the top end if you want to run them for max cooling.

So I could run 9 s-flex "f"'s off of one kaze master? Shazza, you couldn't get 3 E's to work on the Kaze? The only reason I like this controller is because the knobs will fit in between the fans on the front of my pc-p80 since they are on the bottom of the faceplate!! I am going to paint the blades white on these, can the fane be taken off? alos If I buy 9 s-flex f's from newegg, i get a bulk price of11.49 each.....

I had 6 E's running off the Kaze Master - (2 x 3). It worked fine for a while, but then seemed to give up the ghost. At that point, I just gave up and moved it to my husband's PC - so I'm hesitant to say it won't work. I've had some other issues with fan controllers, so I don't want to say it's not user error

I will have to check to see if the face can come off. Note - I also bought my S-Flex fans from the egg ... best pricing I found.

I am just trying to figure out if the kama flex is the same thing, Since the specs are the same except 120, 000 hours vs 150000. Just not manufactured by sony so it has a lower price.....

    I have a pair on a Kaze Master @ 600 RPM's and have to really strain to hear them @ ~2.5' away...and they'll go down to ~300 RPM's.

I'm running three G's (with six more in transit) on an old Zalman fan controller. I really like the G's. So much that I'll have nine of them on a rad sandwich controlled by the same fan controller. Their noise/airflow ratio is hard to beat.
