    Edit:

Well, I think it might seem abit off the mark maybe, but it's true that for points you would feel abandond by the project and overtaken left and right with people with measly gpu's doing 5x your ppd. But I just wanted to shed some light on the SCIENTIFIC need for cpu's to stay on fah, certainly quad and dual cores which can make use of the SMP client.
Well the plan is to WCG on the SkullTrail and QX9650 and GPU Fold on them as well (which works well if you tinker a bit).

The Techstation is always morphing. Right now it has a stellar Dualie in there..but who knows? I am looking at the 9800GX2 to add some oomph.

I am afraid I too willl be a GPU only FOlder for a while...gotta use the CPUs for WCG Cancer research

Thanks, I'll be more active now. Folding was the only passion for me for many moons...but I am throwing it all at WCG for the duration.

Yeah there are times when I happen to have a lot of rigs...and times when I don't lol.

I am in the inbetween time right now

Use vista as OS because it will drasticly reduce the cpu overhead from any gpu2 folding client.

And uhm.. I should have changed that signature already my quad is back on fah ( it done wcg for v0dka to test, he gpu folded on my account for the same time just to find out how a total fah noob would experience the folding experience with the beta client bugs and server issues )

I'd like to jump in with the 9800X2 but that's a lotta jing. Plus I alread have LC for a GT.

dont get DFI if your gonna use a HD4870X2

Lets say my HD4870X2 is still unopened until DFI brings out a non beta bios fix.

I flashed my DFI X38 with a 2-day old bios today, which officially fixes the bugs with a HD4870X2.
Since you can flash an X38 with X48 bios and vice versa, I'd guess that problem is history on the X48, too.

    Yeah you do
Grab the latest one here, but it worked with 0807 already, which was out a few days ago. That one only had issues with IDE drives, which was fixed in 821.

OC-wise it's ok, I could hold my OC from 0603 without changing anything.

It took me months to get the Areca1210 working right on the Skulltrail. It never occured to me to try the top slot

But I am so happy with the VelociRaptor I decided to use the Areca for Storage instead of Speed. Hard to beat a quick seek time. Sustained read of the HBA is awesome...but the Samsungs are twice as slow on seek.

I'm guessing Crunching is all about seek times once you get up around 100mb/sec...I would be surprised to see a measurable difference in output from 100 mb/sec to 200 mb/sec. But just in case I installed BOINC in a directory on the array I've seen slight increases using a drive sperate from the OS to run SuperPi so I assume that on a daily scale it would also add up in BOINC.

I'd say what HDD you use has 0 influence on ppd generation
All threads are crunched fully in ram, with only one small write operation to the hdd every few minutes (you can even change the write to hdd intervall manually).

Ahhhh. THat makes sense. The QX9650 is producing Curing Cancer results every 2hours 37 minutes and the Skulltrail is taking almost exactly 3 hours. I fault the RAM for the huge difference in output. The E3110 is at 3.0 and it produce a unit every 3 hours 17 minutes. So far running a server for Crunching looks like a handicap despite the dependability factor.

If it were affordable a mess of E8600s would be the fastest Farm Running CAS3 RAM.
