Note: i dont OC with max clocks of card , i just saw +- the max clocks ppl were benchmarking and i put down : less ~50Mhz Core , less ~100Mhz shaders and less ~100Mhz memory

I Just used the regular OC with 100% no problems , for the "average Joe"

that card is pretty sexy lookin' to me

is it heavier than the 8800gtx?

and if you were to choose between an 8800gtx XXX edition (621mhz) for 290... or this 9800gtx... which would you choose?

Depends on how long your upgrade cycle is. Why get an 8800GTX for 290, when you can get the 8800GTS 512 for 250 or lower though? Then there's really no point to getting the 9800GTX since the 8800GTS is a hundred bucks cheaper.

Thanks again for this. From the look of things however, it seems the general consensus is the GX2 really is the superior card over this.

Its 340 on EVGA web to step up. Just got 8800gts 512mb for 200. Probably going to keep it till the last week i can step-up. Only difference is the higher clocks but i will OC to match them hopefully. Dont feel like doing an RMA on a card just to upgrade and spend another 100 dollars for 5fps on crysis.

hmmm , i think HD3870X2 maybe faster , but with few driver problems in some games we already know (multi-Gpu ).

Get 9800GX2 (im loving the card , its a keeper) or if you have SLI mobo get 2x 9800GTX

    regards

well i do have a 680i.... so do you suggest getting 2x 9800gtx's instead?

get a second 8800GT for sli. it outperforms the gx2 when oc'd and is the best bang for your buck. you can find GT's for as little as $170 if you keep your eyes peeled.

wait for the G200 gpus before an all-out upgrade.

if i still had my 8800gt.. i'd do so

    but i sold it.. w/ 2 other 8800gtx's 2 months ago

    so i'm running a 6800gs right now...

if i can see some 9800gtx performance in SLi i may consider getting a 9800gtx.. but i havent seen anything official yet\

i just want some crysis performance... i wanna be able to play my modded high w/ smooth framerates... my old dual 8800gtx's seemed to do the job okay.. but didnt 100% get the job done... so i was thinking either tri sli in the near future, or quad sli.. but, i don't wanna have to loose the ability of having an x-fi

its such a hard choice... i'm gonna buy soon.. and if i buy a 9800gtx i'll definitely be able to buy an x-fi w/ it
