:)
Wow, they took their time this month. It's the 27th!
Good news nonetheless :)
10.1...hmm...that sounds familiar :p
Damn it, really wanted 3d support from ATI
The following performance gains are noticed with this release of ATI Catalyst™
- Left 4 Dead 2 – Overall performance improves as much as 3% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5700 series products and ATI Radeon™ HD 5800 series products
- Crysis – Performance improves as much as 3% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5700 series products and as much as 4% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5800 series products
I'm looking more for fixes related to:
- Once a display on Display Port is turned off, the driver reconfigures the desktop, removing it from an extended configuration entirely (thanks)
- No more random flickering on 5000 series cards when using an extended desktop
- Way to switch between an extended and eyefinity desktop that actually works
Hoping that some of those made it in.
3D DESKTOP :yepp:
Release Notes:
http://www2.ati.com/relnotes/Catalys...ease_notes.pdf
Right on time AMD.... right on time.
Nice job... :D
Is it a one man team ?
Did they fix crossfire for eyefinity yet? Quickly scanned the above pdf and doesn't seem like they did.
The only number's i care about is performance #'s
Main difference I have noticed between nv and ATI since I switched has been drivers, the ati ones just seem a bit half baked. Issues with over clocking and multiple displays, poor 120hz support, that sabatour stuff
uninstalled 9.12 with the hotfix before installing 10.1...after reboot cat still says 9.12...wtf
Is the Powerplay issue solved? Had to go back to 9.11 because with 9.12 the PC would lock up with a weird bluescreen with vertical stripes...
Sweet, thanks.
i am starting to wonder if amd used there own driver team in that new commercial
A little off topic , but while downloading the new drivers, i checked to see if overdrive was updated, but get server errror? http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_overdrive.aspx
/me wonders
Sabotaged by nVIDIA...
AMD not so... proudly presents to you the... Cataclysm 10.1 late night edition :D
It better not be better than the previous releases in any benchmark because I'm benching tomorrow... monkeys @ AMD :p:
damm i hope they told us true about cat 10.2 and 10.3
flash acceleration?
mine still says 9.12
the hdmi HDTV support is much better now
UPDATE: uninstalled a 2nd time and removed EVERY ATI registry key i could find, restarted, ran ccleaner and re-downloaded the driver from ati game site and installed, after reboot cat still says 9.12...wtf ati, 4 days before the end of the month and still drivers not up to par
going to have to change my avatar....

monkey business :D

adobe flash player 10.1 beta has gpu acceleration (for ati 4xxx and 5xxx, and i think also for nvidia gpus)
flash player 10 had gpu acceleration for ages now, but I have not seen one single example of it being used anywhere...
if you want proper flash acceleration, get rid of XP/vista and move to windows 7.
I am with partical running 3 monitors gets to being a PITA .....
Release notes PROVE they are aware of the gray screen/vertical line crash and it is NOT fixed. Nice...
Glad I bought a eVGA GTX 285 that I will step-up to a Fermi. XFX wont fix my 5870 because they say its a driver issue. I cant do anything on my computer with the 5870 because of the Gray Screen Of Death (GSOD).
Anyone want to buy my 5870? (might have to stick it on ebay). /sigh
But it already does this? Ive had my rig since August and its always done that..Whenever I turnoff my external displayport monitor that is connected to my laptop it always reconfigures the desktop and turns off extended mode. When I turn the monitor back on, it reapplies extended mode automatically... ??Quote:

Also it looks like Mobility Modding Cats 10.1 wont work..? Someone said tried to install them with out modding? Anyone have any luck?
Is this a screenshot posted before from the final 10.1 driver released today?
http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.ph...4&postcount=92
Because i just checked the 10.1 beta that was leaked not too long ago and every version is newer...

Notice how here they typoed it as 9.10
Known Issues Under All Windows Operating Systems
......
Intermittent grey screen or vertical line corruption may randomly appear on the
screen
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
not fixed yet :shakes::shakes:
at least they said "WE KNOW THIS EXIST...", but the "may randomly appear" says to me "..BUT WE DON'T KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENS"
:p:
They didn't fix the problems with CODMW2
The 5800's have been out since october and they still cannot fix the extended display flickering issue. This is why i appreciate nvidia so much, better drivers, always has, always will. I have a 5800 and i cannot use my second screen because it flickers, it has been turned off for 3 months now. :shakes:
EDIT: I am patiently waiting for Fermi, then my 5800 goes to one of my customers.
Here are my results with AA and ANI, plus one bug report: This release doesn't properly put my CRT to sleep, it only blanks the screen. 9.12 and 9.12 hotfix did not do that.

I have the same display and the monitor itself is at fault. However interestingly enough, I don't get the issue with my 5870 nor with my older 8800gt. The GT2xx series however is another story....
Good to see they at least acknowledge the verticle grey line issue... now as for fixing it...
I uninstalled the drivers and installed 10.1 drivers from AMD.
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/6...board01rnq.jpg
They show as 9.0
http://twitter.com/CatalystMaker
He made a post regarding that issue. They are 10.1.
Shucking fit man, I need that support for TV Wonder 650 USB Tuner on Win 7. Keeps BSODing on me that piece of tish.
There was a time when I hopped for better results (ones that can be seen with naked eye) but rarely got that from an ATi driver upgrade... Now, I just hope they work and don't screw something that worked before and can't even make that right (as in, sometimes they get to screw more then they fixed). :shakes:
You mean as good as the 191.07 killing hardware?

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=108974
I run my 9.5 on HD 3870 just fine (after looong hours of installing), don't want something new, thank you very much. Everything after 9.5 probably cripples SurroundView etc. But, is finally solved the "registry blabla" error when installing under XP x86-64? Ah, doesn't matter as long as it could be somehow installed.
Well, it's not limited to grey screens... On a forum we've found nearly all colours of the rainbow... I myself had blue. So I'll stick with 9.11 kthxbai.
Finlay they fixed gl video flicker, so guess they're not so bad, quite a stability improvement... at least so far, after 10 minutes of testing. I knew about this problem so i checked specifically and it's fixed, but now I wonder what worked before and won't anymore. Guess it's a kinder surprise, you never know what you gonna get. :)
For me, stability is more important, compared to a useless performance boost like 300+ FPS in older games...
One question - is compatibility for HD5970 impproved for some games under Win 7 x64?
I spoke to soon... :) They fixed the flicker but now the screen goes black when changing from full-screen -> Window at custom aspect ratio... Guess I'll have to leave it on full-screen during playback, which I can't do since I have no external application to bother me during that time (maybe just the AV if downloading something)... rather that then flicker (always a compromise - got used to that, same as all ATi users). At least they guys from ATi have some fear in their bones and don't venture to unknown terrain like nVidia... That's usually a bad thing, since the ones that gamble have a change of better results (even surprise ones) but sometimes things can go horribly run and I wouldn't want that with drivers... :)
What can I say, I'm one of those peoples that don't consider flight delays a bad thing. Ok, the plane has some technical problems, bad weather or something like that... Considering the situation I don't mind waiting, compared to other that feel like a plane should respect the program same as a bus, even sue the company... which might rush things in the future resulting in some plane crash. So besides the company in situations where the fault is technical related, I also blame the people that rush things that shouldn't be rushed... :shakes:
Mostly just a bug fix driver. Not worth upgrading to for me...although most driver releases aren't anymore since I've got a 4x00 series card. :( Probably no more performance boosts until I get a 5x00 series card.
What's evenThat's Catalyst version as in CP (Control Panel). Unless they bring new functions to it, they can keep using it... Beyond this, after installing this version, actually latter when I tried a game I got my 1'st BSOD - in Windows 7 after 7 months of stability... Maybe it didn't like the upgrade install, so I removed all ATi related and did a clean one installing only the driver, tried some benching and stress tests (CPU,RAM, GPU) and even tried the game witch in which i got that BSOD and so far it's stable... Don't know if I should contradict myself and say it could be CP related since when i have a problem, i usually install just the driver by Device Manager, without CP... Since i have no use for it, I'll leave it off for know... might try it again with v 10.2.
It's logical that people complain, because it's confusing.
Why can't ATI just stop with this parallel numbering?
They should just use one of those, whichever.... I don't care. But just one.
BTW, AMD should hire more people for the ATI driver team.
As for this numbering "detail", well, just patch the damn driver and release 10.1b NOW, don't wait 1 month for that. Can't be that hard....
Yeah, sure, more quantity instead of quality... They don't need more people, maybe 1 or 2 that are very skilled at this but that's really hard to find since VGA's are really complex compared to other hardware and ATi (AMD), nVidia are top companies for that. In worst case, they might end up with some that worked at Creative, that should thing interesting in a more problematic way...
It's easy to talk, I do it myself from time to time... :D But when it comes to the real work behind this and so many things that could go wrong, since they're so many things that are VGA dependent (especially today)... And let's not forget, they have no TWIMTBP and beyond that, they could try to cheat like nVidia but that doesn't help much cause the real results are important (really important), since most of us are not benching fanatics.
Some nVidia users might contradict me, as in NO - they're not as good as nVidia when it comes to cheating... well, they are mistaken, they already proved they could do that with Furmark - forcing the cards to render at predefined FPS rates, which is more complicated then showing some fake FPS results in some applications. :)
But beyond this mambo jumbo benching which I don't really care, i aim for stability and improvement. If I use a Futuremark product I use it to test the stability of my card and a game for fun, not FPS scores... :)
Remember, it's what's inside the driver that counts. ;)
From my perspective, this driver fixes a few things that need to be fixed but doesn't address some issues that are a problem for some users. The grey screen issue as well as the 2D screen tearing problem hasn't been resolved which is sure to be brought up again and again particularly with a driver that is billed as a "bug fixer".
As for those of you hoping for substantially increased performance when going from one driver to the next on single GPU solutions, forget it. From my experience it doesn't happen unless there are performance issues to begin with. With cards like the HD 5970 and Crossfire setups, there will naturally be advances due to the tweaking of dual card profiles but other than that, I haven't seen any change in performance from the beta drivers that were released with the HD 5870 and HD 5850.
If you have time, read the [H] thread, it's quite amusing.
Yes, the one that everybody used when Windows 7 was released.
If your card got fried because the driver decided to up the voltages, you wouldn't be happy. Doesn't matter if it's today or 4 months ago.
And no, both companies suck with their drivers. Maybe you missed my other post in this very thread.
You have a point there, but releasing a driver with the wrong numbering? Doesn't take a genius to check stuff like that.
True.
However, what ATI needs is a company like EVGA (maybe XFX can do this?) which delivers dual card "enhancement" patches and then filters their info down to the main driver development team. That decreases the work for the driver dev team while allowing more resources to be dedicated to other issues.
From my conversations with Terry, it is more than evident that his team is a well-oiled machine. I just find it unrealistic to expect a new driver every month from ATI. I would rather see drivers released every 2 months or every quarter which would give them time to polish things a bit more before release. Let's face it, being under the gun of a monthly driver release schedule can't be easy, especially when it comes to submitting them for WHQL status.
Well GTA4 benchmark crashes ,but gameplay is a little smoother than 9.12.
Hot fix released. It fixes a problem with forcing AA on Mass Effect 2 when using Crossfire
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...Crossfire.aspx
Fix GTAIV Benchmark !
:shakes:
That all started with that stupid Evga thread with like four people who admit to having stability issues before installing 191.07 blaming the driver for "killing" their hardware.
I loved 191.07, it was actually really good to me. I found it to be very stable.
No, ATI need something like nHancer. I love that program.
You mean a flashbang? Eh lol.. that's how it's supposed to look like, same for CoD4 :D
I can't even install it. It gets stuck at the HDMI part. :(
Yeah, the hotfix has more stuff in it, same as the previous, 9.12 one.
Hydravision, AVIVO, etc...
Lost 50mhz off my core overclock with 10.1 vs 9.12 on my 5850 :(
Here is the link from ATI forums: http://forums.amd.com/game/messagevi...y&keyword1=cod
Now flikers with Divx, when using gl - of course, works just fine with D3D but i need gl.
hey, i was just snooping around the driver files till i found a file "CH_94296" i looked around and stumbled upon "RS880"
The RS880 was rumored to be an ION challenger but hasn't been released...according to the file its DX11 compatible...

I'm mainly seeing this on overclocked systems, I've had customers complain and return cards for this. For example, run Prime95 overnight fine, run furmark overnight fine, run both together and it GSODs within a couple of hours. My inclination is to blame memory compatibility as it's similar to a problem I had with nVidia and certain memory brands during the 8800 epoch. Come to think of it 4870x2 and 3870x2 could behave like that.
Problem is I can't see the stability issues unless I'm running GPU and CPU stress.
The other trend I'm trying to verify is that the cards that GSOD are the ones that give 6.0, 6.0 in Windex.
After my RAM arrived DOA (and I spent days trying to figure out what settings of my OC were wrong) I stopped overclocking and I had this issue nevertheless. It does not depend on the load. It happened in Windows, without any load, while playing GTA IV or while server change on TF2 or ...
So far so good with these drivers and their Hotfix counterparts. The one issue I have over the 9.12 drivers is a rendering problem in Dragon Age: Origins which makes fire pits look like someone smeared Vaseline between the logs.
