This was machining done with horribly worn tools that should have been sharpened or trashed long ago. That means we aren't talking just 1-2 out of 5000 here. It could be the last several hundred tops in the run that were done. They probably were trying to stretch the tools out for the last mile.
I'm not saying that the success to failure ratio isn't huge, but this isn't exactly an uncommon problem. This is probably the fifth time I've seen this mentioned across several forums, and the bad batch seems to have come from jab-tech. Almost every person I've heard comment described the same problems that I diagnosed with my top upon arrival. There is obviously a signifigantly large batch of dud parts floating around... I bought my top just recently, and so did several of the other complaintants that I've seen.
The real problem here is that obviously a rather large batch of dud parts got sent out, so either the distributor needs to check these before going out, or the retailer needs to. That is just the way that it needs to be done. I would NEVER let something like that go out the door, it would immediately be sent back for exchange with the manufacturer.
You guys mention us being pessimistic and negative, yet my overall prescence on this forum is extremely happy and positive. I get a poorly made product, explain why I believe it is so, and you imply I am somehow negative? Sorry if I took it personally but I am not sure exactly how broad the generalizations you're making here are. :)
