yes, it passed Small FFT's on Vcore 1.28125 with 1:1 (1 hr)
and Vcore 1.30 is too stable for any test
so i think that CPU is work fine but the problem is ram (maybe)
here Small FFT's 1hr

Silly question perhaps but have you got both of your dimms in the yellow slots? Also I think you are giving too much volts, vdimm = 2.22 you are giving your rams 2.3volts, dangerous with those fragile micron d9's! Also you shouldnt really need more than 1.26-28 on the NB and 1.22 should be fine for fsb.
Could just be that my mem can clock a bit better than yours. Try manually setting your strap to 333 and if that doesnt work, try running PL9 and see if you get stability that way.
Been following this thread and the Q9450 thread while I build and setup my system, but took ages for the registration to go through to enable me to post here
Thanks a lot for all the information given out here, really appreciate it. :up:
I am running 3.6 on q9450 24/7 and have lowered my settings down to minimum where possible, prime stable and 61-56degC across cores
I'll post my settings in a bit using the template
One thing I found though was the 1103 bios was unstable for me and I had to downstep to the 901 which I am using just now
A question I had was with this bios (901) does the motherboard overvolt higher when I set the minimal voltage allowed in the bios for a particular setting? I had read this was an issue with another bios
Cheers all :)
Processor Q9450
RAM Corsair Dominator 8500 4x2GB
Asus P5Q Deluxe
Vista x64
My original core vis is 1.15 and 1.25 at x6 and x8, according to Everest/CPUz
Rather than clog up the board, I'll edit this post for my current overclock settings. I had some problems trying lower settings and bioses, and this is what I came up with
BIOS 803
(tested stable prime95 6hrs large & then 8hrs small, no issues)
*Edited 15th OCtober for 1406 bios and new settings gleaned from the thread - thanks all! :up:
*now using 2201, no problems

Real temp under prime showing ~61deg C on one core rest ~56deg C
When I tried >3.6 it gets unstable and so after reading around, happy with settling for 3.6 with speedstep for 24/7
Stability is important to me - I upped the vcore from 1.33 to keep stable. Temps are okay.

Bios 1201 ... Flash or not to Flash to it???
Does it overvolt like all the others Bioes do?
For 571 (bench stable) & 590 FSB (max screen @ these voltages):
vcore = 1.3625v (bios) gives 1.344 idle/1.304v load (real).
vNB = 1.26v
vFSB = 1.12v
vPLL = 1.52v
GTL = both at auto
memory on 1:1 divider at PL = 10, 5-5-5-15
I could push it harder and get over 600 FSB but I don't want to abuse my CPU.
I have found no difference in voltages using bios 0704, 0803 and 1103. I would assume that 1201 would also be the same.
If in doubt, set second up from minimum choice for each voltage, and measure with a DMM. I did, as I wanted to know what my board did, in case it was different.
I not know how to test .. well i mean exactly where and do i use both probes on mobo or ground black to case?
Can you post where to test for this ... thks
Use black probe in earth of molex cable, put red probe on measure point. Set DMM to 20 VDC setting.

Could someone explain to me please what the different straps mean? Are they the same as memory dividers, and if so what does each on equal? Thanks.
CryptiK
Awesome DUDE ... thks for the info.
And thks to Awardfabrik for the pics.
Yeah they are Dividers ... but i have mine set to Auto and i chose my own memory Mhz from the next option or second below it as if i chose a strap of 333 or 400 i would get lower or higher then 901mhz i am running, but TO high for what my memory can handle or shall i say handle without some extreme volts.
As for what dividers they are i am not sure which they are.
Ok this is what I am able to get with what I have to work with right now which is the 0704 BIOS version on one Bios chip,, that I am stuck on until Asus sends me my new chips which are preloaded with 1103 and they shipped tonight I believe.

Can everyone see this pic good enough to make everything out? I used that new stress program. I like it.:up:
Looks good 8 x 475 and Linkpack stable .. woot woot
Now i always state do Orthos to for 8-10 hours or 8-12 hours.
I can make everything out, but if a person has bad eyes (no offence) they may not.
You may as well wait until new bios comes in to Orthos and then Linkpack it again.
I ran 3 Linkpacks all at different memory FREE . like 1887, 2000 and 2200 .. and all passed.
2200 that is like about over half of the memory i have.
Thanks , finally i left the mobo alone , took the battery out overnight, in the
Morning i put battery back in ,it boot it ok , then i Hot flashed(Swapped) the Bios back to 0704. Now its working great again , and still giving me monster FSB around 621FSB on my E8400. I order a E8600 to see how far i can go in Subzero :D.
thank chispy for the info.
I have a doubt: for refrigeration by air is dangerous to maintain high fsb (550-600fsb) to the motherboard?
how temperature hold these chips P45?
bigcesar: where are you from? :)
any beta bioses after 1103 ?
@bigcesar - my board will do 571 FSB no problems, and only needs 1.26v vNB to be stable, so it doesn't get hot at all. The cpu is only at 1.304v load so it doesn't get hot either.
It just depends on how much voltage your board and cpu need to get there, if it is high, you may experience heat issues. Just have to work it out for yourself with your gear.
@ Rusty - there is apparently bios 1201 beta on the FTP, but I haven't personally checked as I'm at work. I would be inclined to wait rather than flash it, ASUS testing unfinalized beta's on people is questionable and I have had some issues with the initial beta version 1103 before it was withdrawn and re-released.
any links to bios 1201 ? I was only able to find 1201 for p5q-e board
They're on the FTP site, not the website: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...ELUXE-1201.zip
hi can any1 help me get my p5q dlx,qx9650 and Ocz pc2-8000 to to overclock to 4 ghz I've tried 465x8.5 and 400x10 can anyone help me out. Am I using the best bios 1103. If any1 has a stable overclock can they please help me out with there bios settings thanks david
I hate this crap. I've replaced my only IDE thing left in PC with SATA device (DVD burner) so i decided to disable Marvell IDE chip since i don't need it anymore.
Guess what, if i disable it, Vista deactivates itself. Damn annoying crap...
