This board clocks Bloomfields just as well as it does Gulftowns, it just requires different tuning on the QPI/VTT side. This board requires different settings on Bloomfield than it does on the RIIE or other boards due to the PWM design. My 920 and 980 both happily run at 230 Bclk on air and once things get colder the Bclk rates certainly go higher.
The differences between boards at times come down to the quality of the IOH. Sometimes you get a really good one and sometimes you might get one that is average. The other problem is that if you ran your Bloomfield on a Gigabyte X58-Uxx series board then chances are you will need a lot more VTT as those boards had some problems that damaged processors (just do a search here and you will find the thread on it).
