That's pretty good for an HD7770.
However, this is a bit better once you use promo code EMCXVXM44 ($115)-$25 rebate=$90 and it has a gaming coupon+Free shipping:

I just got one of those not to long ago and it has been a very good card. Right now I have it running at 1120mhz on a 9550 rig.

Hypernova was sucked into his own black hole?

I'd add on if budget allowed, but saving money for a house isn't the cheapest thing to do...
Yep, I'd say so! :D
Small power outage at home for a few hours this morning and PC at work has been given me fits the past couple of days or so. Not sure if it is the 13.2Beta5 driver I put in last week or not. I see 13.2bet6 is out, maybe I'll give that a whirl if these driver reset issues don't stop.

2.41 days to clear a 600,000,000 point difference? posting only a 39,000,000 gain/day?
won't let me delete my post?
If every member bought a 7950 or two, we could top 2ch easily. We only need about 35 more 7950 crunching 24/7 to beat them.
Nah it's just that if I remember right, ATI cards are better at WCG?
You are both correct. The Free-DC overtake estimate is based on the credits reported by WCG, which doesn't include the UD points.
Both Free-DC and BOINCStats have a shortfall of ~ 5M in (total credits * 7) vs. WCG total points for the IBM team so the overtake they are computing is based on incomplete data.
I should have done the math but I took the easy way out and did a copy/paste. :( My best guess is that it's more like 2-3 weeks to overtake IBM.
I apologize for the error and will stop posting the overtake estimate!

Man, makes me want to go get the 7850 I've seen on sale. I just wish we knew if there were going to be more HCC and/or other GPU projects in the near future. Because if it was certain that there would be no new projects the rest of the year I"d concentrate on finishing a build and/or getting a refurbed workstation the next time I see a deal.
Well, its a used 1Gb 7850 from a private seller in the area. Otherwise I would.
However, if memory serves there are deals on the 2Gb versions:
http://slickdeals.net/f/5876282-MSI-...d-170AR-Newegg
http://www.frys.com/product/7311724?...%20date:022213
I can get a new Saffire 7770 for $110.00 AR..Is the 7850 that much more powerfull?
I've read good things about it, though most prefer the 2Gb version. I use this chart for rough comparisons, though I'm sure Xtremer's will have different opinions:

My XFX 7850 runs great ... I cranked the volts up to the max and my stable GPU is at 1325 ... gets about 75K BOINC points per day and runs cool.
When I added a 7770 to the same rig (i7-920 C0 @ 3.8) it bumped me up close to another 50K. Those are rough approximation numbers as I quit tracking every runtime of every WU quite some time ago.
if budget is a concern you can't go wrong with 7770 and you don;t have to worry about holding an expensive card if gpu really does dry up in a couple of months.
newegg 7770 USD 94.99 AR ... you can't up the volts on this model but I am currently WCG gpu stable at 1175 running stock volts
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127687
You can with Trixx :)
I have that exact same Model and thought that as well. Installed Trixx and upped volts to 1.250 from stock 1.20 and HWiNFO still showed GPU VDDC of 1.20. Fired up GPU-Z and sensor showed VDDC of 1.250. It may look like volts don't change, but they do. So now I am at 1200 on the core@ 1.275v in Trixx running 8 WU's.
I'm getting screwed then with my 7950 at 1100 gpu + an ati 5850 doing only 80k boinc a day... and not even that.Quote:

The 5850 alone does 15000...
That pair, both overclocked, in a fast 2600K rig got me around 150K boinc per day. run a bit slower I would still expect to get 135K.
Yeah I think I'm gonna buy a new CPU/motherboard/memory and put the 7950 on it alone.. A 3770k with 8 gig DDR-1866 should be enough right?
Just for example, it takes me about 10 minutes for each WU (with the 7950 at 1100mhz) with 12 running at the same time or let's say 12WU takes about 11 minutes... so 0.9 minute/WU... what are your times?
I've tried overclocking the cpu more but it keeps giving me BSODs... the CPU is only at 45C at full load... I think it's the motherboard being too hot (58C+ at full load) crashing things.
VDDC will remain at 1.2. However, in HWiNFO you should see an additional GPU sensor, which will report the real GPU voltage.
This is similar to CPU VID/VR VOUT/Vcore -- GPU VDDC is what the GPU requests/"thinks it gets", and "GPU VRM Voltage" is what it really gets from VRM.
Nope, no such other sensors...
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/3002/hwinfo7770.png
I've up my memory speed to 1600 and reduced the number of WUs to 10 per gpu... we'll see.
May I suggest that if you are running both cards you try to just run enough wu's on the 5870 to approximately match the runtimes of the wu's on the 7950. I think I had something like 16 and 10-11 mins on the 7950 and 5 or 6 wu's running on the 5870 in around 11-12 mins. You will need to try for yourself because these numbers remembered may be wrong.
Can you get a fan pointed at your motherboard heatsinks and ram?
Wouldn't that load the CPU even more creating a bottleneck?Quote:

Not really.Quote:
Can you get a fan pointed at your motherboard heatsinks and ram?
I am not suggesting you use those numbers of wu's rather that you balance the 2 gpu's. It may be that for you 10 and 3 works best for example. This q6600 @ 3.3 seems to be able to handle around 90-100K ppd so I am thinking you may be able to tweak your Phenom X6 1100T running faster and having 2 more cores to get more than this. If you were to start with 10 and 2 it would be 1/2 a core for each which should be ok. look at the completion times for each card and see whether it is maybe possible to add an extra concurrent wu. Play around with the app config till you find a good balance which also does not lose its separation too quickly.
Once you get a 3770K running things will be sweet using this method, till then just have a play :)

Ah nice work on passing IBM  Sorry, still catching up
Thanks to yojimbo197 for wasting another hour of my life. I swear youtube is like lays potato chips you can't eat/watch just one. You start at one end of the spectrum and end up at the other. And you occasionally get rick rolled along the way. Then you run across a classic one liner. "I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of bubble gum."
Oh and retro we are about to pass IBM again. :D
Been a while since I have been in the game, so I went ahead and booted up all my old machines and have them all running full steam. Also put my current desktop on as well! More points for XtremeSystems!
:D
Got any nice graphics cards to run too???

Time to kick this team into the "90's"....just for starters..:D
Just imagine if TRN could put even a little 7770 in every one of his systems he ran!
4 E5450's so two 3GHz harpertown systems that will do app 30,000 WCG PPD each, it is a help!
Today the video card is king and I mean KING!!!!!!
One $125.00 AMD 7770 will outdo my Beast dualie 2011 system.
I know, for us who always did cpu it's a kick in the nuts!
I'm just curious how long it will last. HCC is still the only project that it works with.
I don't think every project on the grid is just going to jump straight on the GPU bandwagon. GPUs aren't suitable for EVERY science engine even though they scream along on others. Apparently they trialled GPU apps for other things but found them slower than the existing CPU versions. FA@H only just went 64bit, for example, and it's been running for a looooooong time.
There's no doubt there WILL be more GPU work on the grid. That's certain in my mind. Exactly what and when is anybody's guess though.
