I owe you and OCZ an apology. The problem is 100% the Foxconn motherboard.
The 8GB of Corsair XMB certified sticks perform just as poorly so far.
In fact it has taken me longer to get the Corsair sticks stable at all than it did the OCZ RAM.
I spent over 3 hours today tinkering and was unable to get this board to post at all with the new XMB RAM.
Finally I got some old 1GB CAS9 sticks and used them to get into the BIOS, then manually adjusted the settings and voltages and swapped the XMB sticks, and FINALLY got it to post.
Deja Vu.. I remember comments like this when DFI first released a board that could do what no other board, at the time, could.
There are some good results with this board, I bet Foxconn and Shamino get it dialed in just fine :)
No apology necessary, you saw first hand, that boards clock ram, not the other way around ;)
You can't just put eleventy billion MHz ram in a board and ask why it won't run its rated speed :)
With the discrepancy between 1GB and 2GB modules.. I am 99% sure a bios will fix the problems.
Having the timings "line up" can help with 2GB sticks.
Set the Tras at 24.
Set the Trc at Tras + Trp
Set the Trfc to a minimum of Trc + Tras, with 60-72 really helping things out with 2GB modules.
I have also seen the great results posted with this board, however everyone seems to be using 2x1GB (2GB total RAM) which is fine if you are benching SuperPI, but not so great if you want to run Vista 64.
I really hope you are right and a new BIOS is released soon to address these issues, if not its back to ASUS for me and this will be my last Foxconn product.
I can confrim this first hand. Very cheap ($90) CAS9 2x1GB set from Corsair will run Vista for me at 9-9-9-24 1333Mhz. However Corsair's nicest sticks ($1400, Intel XMB SPD certified for 1600Mhz 7-7-7-18, 4x2GB) will not even post at 9-9-9-24 1333Mhz no matter what I set the voltage to. This is the exact same problem I had on this board with the nice OCZ RAM.
It seems like putting 2GB sticks of any configuration in this board is asking for trouble.

I have a board on the way, I know Raja also has a board and is already doing very well with low VTT compared to everyone else. I ONLY test with 4 and 8GB now, 2GB for me is dead...hell i don't even request 1GB dimms any more ;)
If there are some bios tweaks needed I am sure it will get sorted....even DFI/Asus have had issues in the past with 2GB modules, Asus if you remember were forcing tRFC to low.
I have no problems running Vista 64 Ultimate with Ready Boost and 2x1Gb sticks at 7-6-5-18-1T@2.0V@1680 MHz linked, CPU@4.2 GHz for now. Please note that with faster memory you don't need to raise it's size. Of course I will add 2 more sticks some day, but I don't feel like it is necessary technically ATM, just to have more free memory.
I disagree that this board is in alpha stage, it is a great product with a lot of adjustments, it is definitely not easy to understand it's BIOS settings, but as soon as you do, it works fine and rock-prime-whatever stable, at least for me.
For starters, disable readyboost, its worthless with 2gigs. See if that helps.
Still cant believe they screwed it up in the end by pinching a few pennies and changing the prototype boards Copper/Brass NB waterblock top to Anodized Aluminum.

Can you explain why overclocking in the BIOS doesn't actually produce an overclock? Or why Cpt. Planet has also had this problem (and he wrote the bloody overclocking guide, so its pretty obvious I am not making a simple mistake?)

Looks pretty bloody alpha to me. Newegg will not accept an RMA of this board and basically I am getting close to contacting my bank to file a dispute with the credit card company for being sold a defective, falsely advertised product.Quote:

Like I said please reply to the PM so we can get the issue sorted out. I had the issue with only one of the earlier bioses on a beta board. I dont have my 9650 and wont have a 9770 for a few weeks. But also make sure the Frequency Unlimit and it is set to Native Mode.
Max QuadFSB on air is 421MHz, BIOS G21, VNB1,5V:down:
RAM devider 1:4 333 worked best with SST 1800DDR3 (Micron D9GTR), 1:4 400 didn't work.
I'll install some watercooling components soon.
Any toughts to push the FSB higher?
Some hardmods? Soldering is my speciality;)
I have the same results wih G22 BIOS. I used to run QX9650 at 450MHz on BlackOps and I have seen screeshots of it at 482 MHz, but higher FSB requires pretty high Vnb, on my modified air cooler the temp goes up to 55C using Prime95, I can imagine how high it will be with the stock air cooler.
Therefore I have decided to stay with 420FSB for now ... not anymore, it works fine with 430 MHz wih G25 BIOS
