that is weird shi(f)t, never seen that happen on 1204, 1303 or 1485, have you tested with other known good components?

PS2 keyboard FTW !! I loose both USB2.0 ports (near the PS2 connector) if I push the timings of my rams to 6-9-6 (above 1233Mhz) CL7-9-7 they continue to work... tighten up the USB ports are inop
Can someone show me a link for turbo v(evo) that working properly with m4e?
yep no boot drive detected... it goes into bios all the time...
Hello everyone.
I just installed a i7-2600k Q12X ES D0, and by measuring the CPU temperature is showing 1C-5C. Does anyone know how to fix this bug?
The program is showing both Real Temp or Core Temp.
http://www.abload.de/img/semttulo1n8o.png
Temp Amb. 18ºC.
Ur cpu-z and realtemp are kinda old. Pls google for the latest versions.
Hi guys! Got 2600K yesterday and M4E the day before. Just finished reading whole thread and I'm overwhelmed with info. :confused2
A few questions:
Can you post another link, this one doesn't work?
Where do I get Mem-TweakIt? :D
GOOGLE is your friend.
I just got this board as well. I'm Linx Stable at 4.9ghz at 1.4v. 5ghz will run, but fail 3 tests into a 20 test loop. I have very little configured. I'll have to do a run through and see what I can change.
I love this board, it's excellent.
One question (for now), should I move from 1303 to 1485? Will that possibly net me that extra 100 mhz I need for 5ghz stable?
I'm lazy and copy and pasted. Laziness wins in this case. :D
Glad you found it.
EDIT:
Does anyone know of a walkthrough to get an android phone working w/ the RC bluetooth connection? I tried this:
http://www.asusrog.com/forums/showth...luetooth-guide
I cannot find the Program under the Maximus IV, only under rampage extreme III. I tried that and it won't work. I've been able to install RC Bluetooth on my EVO 4g, but even when I try to install the bluetooth driver, it will tell me to turn on the bluetooth and that always fails. I also updated the bluetooth driver and I had the same issue.
Thanks! Let me try to return the favor. :)
You can DL from the support site, or from the main site, or manually select download on M4E page, then choose Android as OS, and you'll get applications for Android, Symbian and Windows Mobile.
Thanks.
Here's the trouble. I have RC Bluetooth on my Evo. If I install the bluetooth driver and application in Win 7, it never initializes. It'll say something along the lines of "bluetooth not found, or something along those lines...
Now I am even having issues installing the driver. I get this message:
http://i56.tinypic.com/fxb995.jpg
I click OK and the driver sits and sits. Then the message appears again.
Any ideas?
I'd love a walkthrough? All the explanations I see leave out a lot of info. I basically want someone to hold my hand as I just cannot figure what is wrong, lol. I guess that's the point of a walkthrough, right? :D
Edit:
The phone will see the PC and can pair, but does not connect.
A quick question: I recently rode my SB, I'm trying to stabilize at 4.5GHz, but when he begins to stress the processor (LinX, after 2mins), the multiplier drops from 45x (100 x 45x) to 37x (3.8GHz), anyone know why? What option have to disable in the BIOS? I want to make the amount I put in the BIOS, do not want this to happen. Thankful who reply!
There is no need for any drivers installation in Win, if you don't care to use BT in it, as I don't.
Just plug in th BT module, with blue button pressed. Green light should be on, if yellow is on, then it works as real BT device in Win.
If everything is OK, Win should not even see that it's plugged in.
I took the module from my R3E and plugged it in now, and it's working with the old application in my HTC (Win Mobile), just need to update it, as it reads some values wrong.
Thanks for the reply. This problem would not have to do something related to the Turbo Mode, something? Well you could tell me exactly the option I have to move to the 45x multiplier is always?
From what I understand (my english is not the best), I have to go "Digi+ VRM" » "Digi + CPU VRM Current Protection", so I left at 100%, 180% or Disable, but the problem still persists. Begins to run 2 minutes of LinX and the multiplier has dropped to 38x. Any solution?
http://i54.tinypic.com/6izq1h.jpg
So I can not overclock because when under stress the processor the multiplier decreases. I think it's something about the Turbo Mode, but I moved and still could not solve my problem.

Have you tried changing options under Extreme Tweaker/CPU Performance Settings?
donmarkoni,
According to that picture you posted, the one I put CPU Ratio 45x to get to 4.5GHz (100 x 45x). Enhanced SpeedStep is disabled with this option in Turbo Mode is enabled automatically without the option of moving. Is that correct?
Maximum Power option I tried letting enabled (even thought the problem might be that) but it did not, anyway... I'll try to leave again enabled. Correct?
The remaining options, I leave everything on AUTO same as in the picture?
I have a question: Deleting this option is the Turbo Mode, also has an option called Maximum Turbo Ratio Setting, I put it also in the 45x multiplier? I think if I do not mess this option, the CPU Ratio does not appear to me something. Does the fault lies not with these options? I leave in All cores mode or by number of active cores mode? Thanks for your help!
First option - CPU Ratio is maximum non-turbo ratio, so it's not the same as on the first page. Leave it on auto.
On the first page, under Turbo Ratio set All Cores, so you can change it in Win.
Just under it, set Maximum Turbo Ratio 45 as you want.
Lets get back to CPU Performance Settings from the pictures.
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology leave Enabled, so you can change multi in Win. Turbo Mode also leave at Enabled.
Now, Maximum Power Change to Enabled, and CPU Core Current Limit change to 1024 (actually 1023.875).
That should be it. Keep us updated.
Look... I tried to do what you said and several other combinations of BIOS valors and I really do not know why this is, this never happened before. Maybe because the CPU is ES, and I hear the M4E supports not only accepted retail version. Here I had to connect the video card in second slot to operate the system. Know something about this?
I tried this, just like you told me:
- Enhanced SpeedStep Enabled.
- Turbo Mode Enabled.
- Maximum Power Enabled.
- CPU Core current limit (do not understand much, but could not find this value 1024, had only 1000 and above in 1125 was on).
- CPU Ratio Auto.
- Turbo Ratio 45x (4.5GHz) All cores.
It would be just that, right? Shortly thereafter, I was trying to LinX and after 1 minute, the multiplier has dropped from 45 to 38 again!
I updated the BIOS also from 1101 to 1303 (you never know, maybe it could solve) but no way to absolutely nothing. How are the values in your BIOS, I could pass exactly as is possible, then I try to do here in the same way you did.
Basically here's this for 4.5GHz:
- Mult all cores 45x
- LLC 75%
- VRM Frequency 350
- Phase/Duty Control Extreme
- C1E/SpeedStep Disabled
- vCore 1.35v/DRAM 1.65v
- Rest of the options, everything AUTO.
@_AntLionBR_:
Hmm... Very strange behavior. Could be something about thermal throttling? What is your cooling setup?
Anyway, as soon as I get home from work, I'll post my settings.
what excatly does this bios setting "CPU Core Current Limit " ??
Had this board for about a week now, I'm loving it !!!
Quick question, I am running 580SLI and plan to add a 560 GTX for Physx. I'm thinking about populating the 1st PCIe with the 560, and then 2 and 4 with each 580 GTX. So thats running the 560 at 8x, and the 580s at 16x16x through the NF200. Does that sound right ? Also, I take it I plug my monitor into the 1st 580 and not the 560 ? Won't it try and boot from the 560 first or can that be changed ?
Could be that the ES MSRs are a little different but I am not sure (we won't be updating for ES CPUs at this stage as most people should not be using them at all and neither should media as the launch was ages ago).
As I said in an earlier post - can you save the DIGI VRM screen in BIOS please (use the F12 key and save to a FAT 32 USB flash drive) and upload it.
-Raja
ahh, i understand. now is clear.
and many thx for ur quick reply...and btw i love this board. best board i have had ever. ...and i had a lot of boards in the past :D
I am a little confused with some contradictions:
Yet, in the BIOS it says "memory controller" under VCCSA. Also, miahallen did a 5.1GHz run for LinX club with RAM at 2220MHz and VCCSA at 1.131V, so it looks like VCCSA IS for memory controller? Or I'm a wrong?
vccsa is the voltage for the system agent, vccio is the i/o voltage for the imc
About throttling not think so. About the CPU cooler I am using, I have a Thermalright HR-02 and 120 Copper, but currently in use is HR-02.
Ok I await your settings if possible give me all you have to enable and disable. Thanks for your help!
Here is Raja. What do you suggest?

Thanks!
can u pls upload some screenshots from ur bios, especially the digi vrm section? that would be helpful.
tia :D
What does VRM Fixed requency mode actually do?
I ask because I have 4.9ghz stable right now, everything besides Vcore is auto. I wnat 5ghz, so I figured I'd pump a little voltage and other settings. If I change from 250 to 300, windows takes ages to load. I actually don't know if windows will load fully as I restart after a few minutes. Very weird... I'm using bios 1303 btw.
@antlionbr: do u think u need so much power @the pwm's ? for 4,6 iam on vcore llc 75perc, vcore mos ctrl auto, pwm phase optimized and vcore ocp 100 percent.
@Raja:
Can you shed some light on the confusion about voltages, few post above.
testing 8GB of the 2133 8-9-8 kit and they do not like c7 at 1866, but 8-8-8-24 seems good to go

No problem, glad it made things a bit clearer for you guys.

i have a strange problem my cpu boots on windows @5600
with intelspeedstep and c1e on
with this settings off i have a black screen and system hang ups
what i can to do?
marvell controller no wo rks good with cpu at high frequency
and corrupts my windows
i have better pcmark 05 score @5440=40200
a 5600 i have only 40100!!!!:(
thank you RAJA
Just to confirm the implications...I did test with the VccIO at 1.2V and the SA at "auto" and the test failed....also, with both on auto, the test failed. The only way for the test to pass was with SA boosted.
I get the impression the manufacturers aren't even sure
Raja, is there a chance Gigabyte and Asus have the VccSA & VccIO labels swapped in the BIOSes?
Don't have any GBT boards here so can't say about what their boards do. :) VCCIO pretty much tells me what it is - IO voltage. ;) The SA role is as an IO hub and the memory controller sits as a side unit (any interconnects will be driven by IO voltage)
Check here:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/3922/i...ture-exposed/4
Should add that on our boards my memory clocking results are all tied to VCCIO - and that's with Hypers running past DDR3-2100. On top of that remember the pin location for voltage rails is well stipulated - so the voltage labelling is correct.
-Raja
Yeah Praz, that's about right. There maybe some DC coupling internally that leads to an optimal delta between VCCSA and IO, but I have not seen it and that was with my chip running down at -100, too. On top of that on Z68 tying the two rails is allowed which takes the suggestion of any such delta out of the equation under all normal operating conditions.
-Raja
its safe to run vccio ! 1.2?
To quote anand in your link:
Seems to me that anand is saying the SA voltage would control the IMC voltage, since they're in the same power plane.Quote:
The System Agent houses the traditional North Bridge. You get a 16 PCIe 2.0 lanes that can be split into two x8s. There’s a redesigned dual-channel DDR3 memory controller that finally restores memory latency to around Lynnfield levels (Clarkdale moved the memory controller off the CPU die and onto the GPU).
The SA also has the DMI interface, display engine and the PCU (Power Control Unit). The SA clock speed is lower than the rest of the core and it is on its own power plane.
Raja, is it possible my results were different than yours due to the D1 ES CPU I was testing with?
The core voltage for a functional unit is not the same thing as the transceiver IO or termination voltage for any associated signal line (unless engineered in such a way). It is the IO voltage that is important for overclocking as that drives the transceivers which receive and send data. Think of it as vIOH and VTT. The placement of the memory controller was never in doubt - my opening response said that it sits to the side but the interconnect will be driven by the IO voltage. The main thing here is to understand the role of IO.
I never used the D1s myself, there may be some differences but they would not be that large as to flip the role of the IO rail. Either way, I suggest you have another in-depth play with some boards and CPUs and see for yourself which voltage has the impact on memory clocking.
-Raja
did i understand this correct, that a increase of the SA can stabilize the IO then ?
in memory oc my experience was that increasing the SA is "little" helpful to get 2x4GB stable. for 2x2GB it was not necessary @all, but the main focus in both options was giving the IO a little bump.
thx Raja
ok, thx for Info. Sounds great. have to test much more. Got my MIVE 2 weeks ago. Maybe i was a little bit to scared with that IO Voltage :D
I installed my W7 OS onto my SSD with AHCI and hotplugging turned on in the BIOS. But I left the jmicron enabled on the red intel sata port.
If I disable the jmicron in BIOS, the PC doesn't boot into the OS anymore.
I am using the intel driver from the asus DL site.
Is there anyway to disable the jmicron controller and boot from the SSD?
Thanks.
Thanks Olly but my SSD is connected to the intel red sata port.
But if I disable the jmicron on the bios screen, I get a HDD not found error and it boots into bios again.
The only drives in the black sata are my D: 1TB HDD and my E: DVD drive.
i have found the problem for improve stability cpu needs a little cpu pll about 1.83 @-45
great mobo runs my hypers@2260 7-8-7-21-1t with 1.81 vmem
cpu rock stable@5610
Barso, try playing with the boot order.....I think I had a similar problem
Anyone with D14 and this board/i72600K to share some experience about 4.8/5Ghz max vcore/temps? thanks.
hmm I undervolt SA to .85v and runs memory fine...
cpu pll at 1.53v too, but this is just 32m not linX
has anyone managed to get a 24/7 5.0ghz overclock for their 2600k on air cooling with this board? and i don't mean with the stock air cooler.
I am running 5.0ghz under water, with 1.42v (under load)with 8GB (4X2) running at 1866 8-8-8-24 1T stable (both linx and prime)
how long will it blend?
http://i.imgur.com/Dsos7.png
no degradation whatsoever, still clocks exactly how it clocked when I got it
I like it more then before, when I tested Asus P8P67 Pro. Must be the board. This one has many options to play with. ;)
And, of course, this 2600K can do 54x unlike the other which could do only 51x, although same batch, same shipment in the same store. :ROTF:
Now just to find 55+ CPU. :D
Is there a voltage to change to lower the cpu temperature ? ( I mean apart from VCore ;) )
I run 5Ghz with 1.390v [set in bios]. This gives me 1.375v load. But I'm on water. I had issues runing 8Gb ram at 9-11-9-28 1T, I messed around with VCCio and SA , sometimes I was abble to pass linx others I wasn't... I don't really know why. So I went for 1866 8-9-8-24 1T and all is ok. I think 8Gb 2133 must get hard on the IMC...
Hi
me run 24/7 5ghz on air 1.44V HT on
i have silver arrow whit 2 fan 140 stock
my temp max is 58°c in load whit game and 72°c on linX 1 hour
You could try with CPU PLL and VCCSA.
---
BTW, @ALL: we should mention CPU LLC level when we're talking about vCore, if not mentioning DMM measured voltage.
From what I've seen/measured, vCore drops by 0.02V under load when at 75% LLC, and rises by the same when at 100% LLC.
If anyone could measure, please do, for comparison purposes.
I have 4.9ghz linx stable. Super happy about that, but I want 5ghz.
All settings are auto, besides 1.4v core (I want 24/7, so I'm not moving it up).
What voltage setting should be changed from auto? I've tried chaning a lot of stuff and windows basically never loads. I can sometimes get in at 5ghz, but it's not stable at all. Really weird since 4.9ghz is solid. Just a 1x multiplier bump.
I use 1.395v in Bios with LCC@75%. With my DMM I see ~1.395 idle, It get's to 1.380(5) with light load. And drops to 1.375v with linx.
Lili v2000
EK HF supreme full nickle
TA 120.3
Feser Xchange
6x 120mm ~1600rpm fans
D5 as pump
and 1/2 ID tubing.
With ~24ºC ambiente I get 62ºC max at hottest core in 20 linx runs.
I'm going to ask this here:
Why did you guys go for the MIV instead of the WS Revolution? I went with the Revolution as I thought they had pretty much the same in common but the WS Revolution could do quad sli, but now I'm starting to think I should have gone with the MIV. So lemme have it! Convince me :)
I got the MIVE open box for $265 shipped.
1. It's also super stable. I've never had a more stable board.
2.Should be more support since it's their highest end board. You'll probably also have more support from users on this forum since it's an enthusiast board.
3. For SLI/Crossfire setups, I found allowing space between the two cards really helped w/ temps. That's not so easy w/ that board as you'd need a really long SLI bridge (might come with one long enough though).
4. MIVE has two molex power connectors vs one on the workstation. If you wanted 3 or 4way SLI/Crossfire, that will help.
Did I miss anything?
Adding to all this, you can also "quad" in M4E with 590Gtx ( ok with some problems ) and 6990 out. You can just have 2 ( 6950/6970) + 6990 or 2x6990. Same for nvida 2x 590Gtx. If you really need that much graphic power... I've a 6950@70 crossfireX and it is more then enought and for the price of one 580Gtx was the bang for the buck
