well there are plenty of other reasons why it's a decent buy. it does have great OC abilites regardless if you can't pump the crap out of BLCK, but that's also why CPU's have multipliers and also why there are unlocked CPU's aswell so that you wont need to go so high on BLCK setings.
i personally got the board for 1 - good memory OC abilities, 2 - 6core support / favored and great OC, 3- has 9128 controler for SATA3 raid ability *though not marketed with the board, it's listed as SATA3 raid capable on Marvel's page*, 4- USB 3.0, 5- loads of power stability... it's just a good future proofe board that'll get it's owner some years out of it without a thought of upgrading for a while.
you don't have to have HIGH BLCK to get good numbers, balanced settings will get you where you want to go aswell.

when you are working with a 21 multi high bclk is a must, i enjoy playing with the 920/930 do's especially for 200.00 at micro center. I got this board in hopes of going a bit higher than on my ud7, which got me 4.725ghz linx stable on water, but i cant even get close. i refuse to pay 900.00 for a cpu, for me that just takes the fun out of it. it is nice to buy a lower priced chip and see what you can do with it, bloomfield 920/930's and clarkdales are just a blast to oc and wont break the bank.Quote:

you're still not seeing the point of the R3E, it's a 32nm favored board so yes, if you're running somethings that's not a 32nm tech chip, you're probably not going to see alot of glory from it. it's been stated several thousand million bagillion gazillion times that it's favoored to gulf chips. that being said *that many times* it should be a heads up that yes you'll do fine with most 45nm chips but you'll do better with a 32nm. your UD7 platform was probably designed for the general purpose of being used with both 45 and 32 techs but probably does better with 45nm due to it being a more widely used chip range than 32nm just yet.
but i'm not gonna lie, i too am having issues with my R3E and have yet to get much of an answer from anyone on here the times i have posted my bios setings, so i really don't have the help i need to get to my goal or past it, of which i know is more than capable of hitting because it's only 4.5ghz and then times i CAN get it running for a bit at that speed, temps stay to the low 70's at most.

I probably wont be testing the new bios on LN2 until this week. My ud9 crapped out as well.. Bummer.. I really liked that board. Big bang x-power seems to work better now. I just said the hell with the IOH HEAT.. I need maximum stability and since the rampage is my favorite benching board I just decided to put an LN2 pot on the NB. All is well while benching when the IOH is at -5c :)

Very nice results, I also hope to eventually get a 6core chip, but it doesnt look like they will ever be cheap. I think the board is nice and loaded with tons of great features that are all functional unlike some other boards which makes it very appealing, just not ready to make the jump to gt yet.
