That Asus STX seems like quite a nice card, very good signal to noise ratio and looks like good build quality with good quality components. If you're just gaming and playing films then this could be ideal for you. I personally prefer the breakout box solutions as they do all the processing outsde the PC case, but for your use I'm guessing this is adequate and I would assume you wouldn't get as much noise as before.
If you want more inputs and outputs along with a breakout box and top-notch quality, M-Audio and Emu are manufacturers to look out for. M-Audio products are my preference but I've got a nice Emu usb interface too. My Delta 1010 has held out for 10 years very well, plus with things like balanced ins and outs and very low latency ASIO, the noise and performance specs are still up there with today's cards, plus they have continously supported drivers with a tiny footprint unlike a lot of the bloated, rip-off creative s**t that's out these days! The downside with a few of these are that they can cost a bit more, and the multi output models work best when used with mixing desks which then go to your amplifier - so not ideal if you want to keep it simple!
I would take a look on Emu and M-Audio's site and their large product range to see what could suit you, particularly if you want to go for something a bit more high end. The USB interfaces are good quality but also have slightly (although barely noticeable) higher latency. If you have an amplifier with a digital input - 7.1 surround is easy to acheive with a single cable (can be optical or coaxial, or even HDMI), and would also eliminate any noise generated by your PC as the signal isn't converted to 'noise susceptible' analogue until it reaches the amp. There really are a lot of options and avenues you could explore. It depends on how you want everything connected and what you want to use it for. Happy hunting!

Always wondered how the D9's would perform on this board, and like anything else put on ep45 range, it shines! Any hope of getting near an FSB record? I only managed 600 on my E8500, but I think that's the CPU's limit :(

The fisrt sample of that board (vrm explosion lol) gave me a lil 610 max. It becomes tricky around 580...

The one back from RMA isn't able to run over 600 so easely... the chip is maxing at 630 which I reached on T2RS+ (only one shot lol, never again)

Yeah, I only managed about 610 with my MIIF (which I was so glad to be rid of). Didn't mess around for as long with 3 of the the EP45 range, but I was guessing there'd be no FSB records hit and could post around the same. I reckon my E6300 (old type) could have gone further, but it's long gone now, ran a 100% o/c stable on that with a P5B.

got myself a UD3P to test yesterday! i had some issues with a stick of memory working, it was a dud :). just running single for now until the replacement stick comes.. got to test a D9 Ballistix stick yesterday though, and I can tell you that just with a little tweaking that stick screamed!! i really like the board so far :up:!

what's the most stable BIOS guys? :shrug:

F10 seemed to be good for me at last session ;) But don't know nothing about stability :rofl: ain't my buisness ^^

Has anyone ever seen it when X.M.S. Profile1 is missing? Under the XMS section, I have Auto, Profile2, and Disabled. Profile1 is "missing". Does anyone have any idea why this may be?

CPU-Z shows EPP #1 (there is no EPP #2). MemSet shows no EPP #1, but it does show EPP #2, just like BIOS?

I see 'm411b' has the same issue as well...?!

I downloaded Award BIOS Editor 1.0 and opened the BIOS file. I get a few errors at load and when I go to the System BIOS - Setup Menu (like in your pic), all I see is Page 1, Page 2, etc. (with all kinds of funky characters).

I re-downloaded ABE and the ROM file, and even tried it on a second PC. Still get the funky characters?!

Need some help guys. I got a USB3P and I'm having issues with ram clocks. No matter what timings/volts I use they won't run any faster than 1200Mhz or I can't get it to boot. I got G. skill PI's the 1600Mhz CL6 version. I also can't get them to run anything tighter that CL9 (9-9-9-24). I've tried upping the volts to 1.64v and no luck. I'm working on a E8600 and got it to 4.5Ghz but the lack of bandwidth is killing some of my scores. Can anyone help me

Recently I transfer my parts to a new case and then my problem starts from here. The problem is that my motherboard Gigabyte P45 UD3P rev 1.1 can no longer boot with 2 sticks of ram. I own this board over 2 years already and this time I just can't get it to boot no matter what I did, clear CMOS, unplugging the power cord. As right now I am booting on the first DIMM slot and both ram is working.

At first I thought it was the ram so I RMA the ram, but today got the new ram same problem acting out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you remove the ram from the board or handle the ram in any way while do this? I would suspect a possible short some where. I would try remove the mother board from the case and try out side the case. If it works then you have a short some where. If it dont then try a 24/hr cmos reset via jumper with the batter remove along with power supply disconnected from the motherboard. On start up make sure you load optimized defaults Press "F10" to save and reboot. Renter the bios and check again.

How much voltage do you guys use for 500FSB (24/7 usage)?

I thought I'll post here amongst Gigabyte P45 series fanatics, and I do not mean to deride or cast any ill-informed assumptions. Just that you lot know all there is to know about these series of boards.

Here goes, I currently have a GA-EP45T-UD3P rev.1.0, which I have used successfully with an older version Q9650 cpu. I have updated to the latest bios version "F8c" which worked nicely with the Q9650.

I came across a newer Q9550S cpu, and I have tried to use it in the motherboard, but the board acts like, what-the-hell, get outa here, routine. The cpu is un-recognised, and it won't drop down in power usage, even though I have selected everything correctly in the bios.

I just looked on their cpu support website, and low and behold, they state support for a weird Q9505S series but no mention of my Q9550S baby, what gives????

My new Q9550S is totally supported by all of your series P45 boards, but my motherboard shows no bios support for my chip, I would like to know why. Also, is there any possibility of getting a bios (hacked or otherwise) that will see my Q9550S and use it to it's full potential.

Please, anyone, I do not want to lay down more money to buy a P67/Z68 board plus chip. I just need to use what I have in possession.

I dont know where you check the supported cpu list but I see Q95505S is support see here

And when you select "CPU Support List" it shows no mention of a Q9550S anywhere.

I am now downloading the F7 bios and will re-flash to see if the cpu is properly recognized.

There are also some Beta Bios's floating around, if the F7 fails, I might try them as well.

I would recommend using the latest beta bios F11d as that is the latest bios and with out a doubt it will support your cpu.

All depends on what chip you are using, but for the most part yes.

hitting a FSB wall above 547MHz. is this common for the UD3P? :shrug: i thought this board was supposed to break 550MHz quite easily! currently on F3 bios.

so I recently got this board and cpu, ran it stock for a long time and then finally got around to OC'ing it. I am having a high piched noise come and go while running IntelBurnTest 2.53 and Folding@home. and one time I was hibernating/sleeping the machine and I heard it from across the room right before it powered off. when I powered back on it failed to load the hiberfile.sys...

so I am curious, has anyone had any experiences with this board similar to mine, does anyone think it could be a sign that I am pushing the cpu to hard and its drawing too much power for this board?

A simple question, I am having fun with this board (EP45-UD3P), but the latest F10 bios is rather crap for overclocking. Does any of you still have the F11c bios laying around? I cant find it anywhere.

I have a strange problem (all bioses) I have a very stable overclock. (8.5 * 500 FSB) linpack stable, OCCT stable. Everything nice and neat. I booted with these settings. Now when i reboot. The MB 'detects' this is not stable, it goes into boot, reboot phase, untill the default BIOS settings are restored.
I know I am a few years late, but wtf?

The reboot loop is a well-known problem for many P45 boards unfortunately. Does it boot if you change to your settings after resetting itself to BIOS defaults?

When i save my OC settings in bios again. It boots normally again. Leaving the PC a little time off. I don't mind the boot/reboot loop as long as it applies my stable settings :p
The problems occurs when i restart from windows it seems.

BTW, my overclock is 8.5 * 500, ram at 500 (DDR2) PL9 1.26Vcore. Is this considered any good?

Decided to go back in time a few years and re-try this board.

Got 3rd in q9650 hardware ranking at HWBot with this 32m run. Would need the T board to do any better I think, but still pretty happy with the score.

Hi guys... I recently purchased a EP45-UD3P r 1.6 motherboard from eBay because I wanted to use this board as a bench board only and it's list of compatible CPU's was insane. I received the board no issues, looks in mint shape no damage (accept the locking pin on PCIe slot1 was broken off). No worries there.

My issue is that I cannot for the life of me flash the latest FFb BIOS from Gigabyte. The mobo currently has bios FD. Actually both BIOS's on the mobo are at FD. I've tried Qflash and @BIOS and they both fail while erasing the chip. Another thing I
notice is that I cannot save any CMOS settings onto the available slots. I can save my CMOS to my HDD but the actual BIOS chip. I have tried bios FA,FB and FFb and they all fail. I have also tired by passing my main bios by setting up a jump on pin 5 and 6 on the main bios forcing the main bios to by flash again from the backup bios and I still can't flash the main bios. Has anybody heard of this issue? Looking on google I have found 1 other guy that had the same issue as me and he as well was not able to get his bios flash.

I have tried so many things. Like different RAM, CPU,PSU and video card.

One thing I can do though is save my BIOS onto the HDD or usb stick and then I am able to re-flash my bios onto the chip, but I cannot flash a new bios to the chip :( I am completely lost.

So I have wanted to hunt down a p45-UD3P for a while and finally found 2 but I can only get 1.

one is a version 1.0 and one is a version 1.1

Which for a straight overclocking board would be better? I will be using celerons and D's),Pentium 4's, Core 2 duos and quads.

I might be putting the board under cold in the future so that would have to be considered.

I though I would ask here as XS seems to be knowledge with this board.

opinions/Advice?

I'd go with the v1.0 board, but they should both be good. v1.6 is worse than the two other versions though.

So dont get the 1.1 version? some have said it is a bit better or doesnt it matter?
