Ok, that is fine. I know it will be stable at 1.4vcore so I save some time and set bios to 1.3125 which is lower then I have ever had stable before. I will let you know how that does, but at 1.4vcore my temps do not ever get above 61C so at anything under 1.4vcore I would be happy with. Just curious as to why you turn off "CPU TM Function" and "Execute Disable Bit". I thought "CPU TM function" would help prevent you from pushing the CPU to hard and 'execute disable bit" helped windows protect against viruses. BTW, I am using Vista64bit OS if that helps with anything...Right now I am running prime95 on small FFT's with your settings at 1.3125 will let you know how it does soon, thanks

1.3125 failed after 9mins. Now trying 1.3250, update soon:)

Edit: 1.3250 has passed 1hour of small FFT's, I would drop down to 1.31875 but I am about to crash for the night and am going to go ahead and let prime95 continue to run overnight at 1.3250 just to make sure its rock stable. Update you tomorrow with the results, thanks again for you help :)

One thing that I don't understand is why some people aren't using that anti-vDroop feature (load-line-calibration)?

I use it on a P5K-E and think it's neat, it doesn't prevent vDrop but totally works wonders with vDroop.

I never saw any disadvantage to it myself so interested to know why some people are hesitant to enable this feature?

I'm not a fan of it myself. It's easy to compensate for vdrop, and Intel included vdrop for a reason. And they know a lot more about these things than I do.

Sure LLC is handy if you run out of vcore options, but these boards can be set to over 2v in BIOS and very few of us will ever go that high.

I'm not sure If I'm using the correct jargon but the only way I know of to counter vDrop is by vModding the board (or pencil mod).

example:

vDrop = Set 1.3000vCore in BIOS get 1.275vCore actual

vDroop= Set 1.3000vCore in BIOS get 1.275vCore actual but when CPU is under load this reduces to 1.250vCore

So in the second example if I used/enabled load-line-calibration/Voltage-Dampener I would get no droop under CPU load.

It's just that it appears some people are afraid to use this anti-droop feature? especially on their very shiny QX9650's etc. Is there some bad side effect of this feature that I am not aware?

By compensate I mean use a higher BIOS setting. And the higher-end boards can wipe out vdrop as well as vdroop. You may well find that vcore under load is actually higher than what is set in BIOS with LLC enabled.

I'm not sure if people are afraid to use LLC. Very few people understand the idea behind vdrop and why Intel demand that boards have it. It's been claimed that ASUS only included the LLC option because they were fed up dealing with customers who thought their board was faulty because of the difference between the BIOS setting and the real vcore.

We have encountered with the X38 models combined with certain PSU's that some boards with LLC enabled had very bad overvoltage spikes at high voltages set... eg 1.45 set with LLC could give spikes to 1.6 region... some fear degredation, unstability etc...

If it's for 1.25core or below I just set 1.35 in bios and let her run, if I want to go more I rather have it on...

Does This motherboard work with 2x2Gig Ram (4gig Total) and Q9550 appears alot of the p45 chipset boards having issues with 4gig of ram

I run only 4gb daily mate but at 1081Mhz , dunno if you can tweak them sticks at 1200mhz on this mobo, some have done it some are stuck around 1180mhz...

I'm @ 1128MHz with 4GB ;)

damn, i got a problem, i can get 475 fsb overnight stable with OCCT, but i can't get even 455 to be Crysis (ingame, not the benchmark) stable >< in fact 475 fsb is more stabel then 455 in Crysis (i can play 10-30 min on 475 and 1 min on 455)

Hi thanks for answer, I did read through this entire thread and I didn't see any problem from LLC on a P5Q-DLX so wasn't clear what the issue was? As you have explained things it's seems there was a problem on an entirely different mobo using a similar feature but in my mind this has nothing to do with the P5Q-Dlx (so far anyway).

I have only used LLC on a P5K-E and thought it worked well? I have never heard anyway state that the voltage actually *increases* or *Spikes* while using this feature (to the point of being dangerous).

I'll pay close attention to this once my board arrives, thanks!

Before I had it on water, it went fine on my board with the original cooler... no worries...

Are my issues related to scew settings "issues with Prime blend" considering small ffts I can run all night? If so how do I go about adjusting them because I have been sitting here messing with these things not knowing what the hell I am doing? Should I be messing with all three scew settings or just the bottom two? I actually just sat here and tried messing with just those and they didn't seem to help no matter what combo I tried and I tried everything possible for those two up to 400 and 400. Everything seemed to go down hill more once I started reaching those settings.

ram: transcend pc5400 (powerchips on em) (tho i tested them with 420x6 and some divider on them so they were on 951 stable in crysis)

card: hd 4850 (not OCed)

psu: Cooler Master 550W Real Power

and i was aming for 4 GHz, was on 475x8.5 (it was stable overnight with OCCT and OCCT heats up the procesor much more then Crysis), then i lowerd to 470x8.5, but...

looks like i am gonna have to keep it at 430x9.5 and ram @ 860

oh yeah and 475x8.5 was stable in Mass Effect, and i got like 40h of gametime in there, but Crysis is more demanding i guess and newer games are going to be too

What happens if you run the Gskills in sync , I see you are pushing them hard (signature)... also we got zero settings of ya setup so pretty hard to base ourselves onto...

Does the p5q-xxx have the same raid problems as the p5k-xxx do? will i be able to use my 2 samsungs on raid 0 with this board? It never worked out with my p5k-prem.

I'm running RAID-0 since I got the board, no issues at all, works flawlessly :up:


For those having Prime and memtest stable but have problems with 3d, try to tweak your memory, thats the source of this issues.

I couldn't find a setting with 450fsb that worked right, in my case I decided to run 425fsb and mem at 1066 with PL7, thats the best I could find so far for my system.
