I dont see any silk screening above ram slot 1 or any of the ram slots for that matter, but the sticker next to the ATX connector says A02. My board claims to be rev 2.0 if I remember correctly.

My G Skills Trident 2000Mhz PC3 16000 cannot run at 2000Mhz, is that normal?
And what have you tried to get them there ? QPI voltage how high ?
must be unless you are blowing AC over it
what are you using for temps?
Karlitos no that is not normal, post up your voltage settings
Check out my 2000MHz memory 24/7 settings for hot summer days :)
Hope it might help.

which bios and program version?
Still 0402, and TurboV Evo 1.0.12.2. Guess I need to flash.
I've never had a dual BIOS board before, I assume it has two copies of 0402 currently...
I figured it was a bug, but wondered if there was a fix. I guess I need to flash the BIOS. Tbh I kinda like this BIOS though.Quote:
I had the same problem reading CPU PLL value until I flashed with latest BIOS 0602 and now it is OK, but I am sure it is a bug
is the 0602 Bios the latest Bios?
My Xeon W3520 run not very god :shakes:
splave you still on bios 534?
should i be puttin in 1.9v pll? less or more i'm @ 1.84 now
? safe for qpi vtt volts
ulk frequency is it the same rule as per a 920?
tks
i got her stable 4.4 1.39v 4.5 needs 1.44v for linx
eva2000 has a good guide for the uncore rules and guidelines for the 980x's
Intel Core i7 980X - guide to optimal cpu vtt & vdimm voltages Uncore to Memory frequency ratios
i got a swiftech was cheaper n thev ek was soldout
you will see a 10-15c drop in nb and sb temps and i'm sure the pwm will be cooler
i even replace all that yellow crap asus had on the nb and sb
i'm @ 2214mhz cas8 stable @ 4.4ghz so far cpu:1.39 vdim:1.65v qpi vtt:1.4 :)
i'm in the ballpark n will work on lowerin cpu volts
for 4.5 i need 1.44v
nice memory clock and OC zsamz:thumb:
i'm stumped
why so low bandwidth
@donmarkoni
yes, but I have 3T in the bios.
it seems that cpuz displays incorrectly.
I'm confused... You have a 6 core at 5.84GHz, I have a 4 core at 4.02GHz and I get more CPU points than you...
http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/171...arkvantage.png
EDIT: You kick my CPU's arse on CPU test 1, but one CPU test 2 you are worse than me for some reason?
Excellent board. Best of the best
I thought it may be PhysX but being that it is a "CPU" test I would have thought it was for the "CPU", bit of a gimmik really .
Thanks for the heads up anyway, makes sense now.
EDIT: 25K  How shameful! That totally shows how bias Futuremark is towards Nvidia .
It's because the PhysX on the GPU is much better than a CPU at calculating physics. But yeah, gimmick :)
So I flashed from 0402 to 0602. My northbridge temps have dropped about 6-7 degrees celsius... or Asus mangled the software reading to make me feel better.
Also fixed the bug with TurboV displaying the wrong PLL voltage.
Where can one download 702 from? I dont see it on FTP site...
EDIT: Even with 0602 my IOH and ICH temps are rediculous and I never checked the temps with 0402 so I have no reference to check to see if my temps went down or not. This board is most definitely going to get a full cover block that is for sure.

I like RIIIE :D
Got a little problem, when system is cool & you start up for the first time the memory only shows 4gig of the 6gig.
If you enter bios shows 4gig & then turn off computer & re-enter bios it shows 6gig, noproblem after that.
Tested different memory slots ect & shows 0 errors on memory test.
Any one have an idea whats going on?
A lot of people are having problems with ram showing 2 gigs or more missing.. i would try and reset the ram with stock timings and if that doesnt work bump qpi up a notch or two. Also it can be the Heatsink is tightened down to tight. Eva2000 posted a thread on this on http://i4memory.com/f54/asus-x58-6-1...stalled-19200/ Hope this helps.
I also noticed that my memory which is set at stock of 1600 shows as 1066 when cold booting, but if I re-boot it immediately it then shows the proper 1600 during post. Seems this board has problems with memory, so hopefully it is just bugs that need to be worked out of the bios....
i had serious problems i'm sure others are having
i couldnt overclock as soon as it booted in memtest or windows pc would
reboot even at a low overclock
i thought my memory was failing then another set then another set i went nuts
then i set memory @ 1333mhz and overclocked the cpu cause memory was stable @ stock n boom error
if you cant overclock the board reflash bios
i recreated problem 3 times:eek:
every time was solved by reflashin bios
bios is gettin corrupt
i think its either the board or some bad bios chips
i will contact asus to send me some new bios chips
I had 2 gigs missing for a while, and reseating my VenX about 3 times loosening up each time I got it back.
While I am not at Cas 7.. I am really happy with this combo.. RIIIE , Patriot 2kLL, & W3570
This looks promising for a 24/7 set up..
I could not get the Ram to goto 2k without raising the QPI/VTT to 1.58/1.6 with both my 930 & 920..
I finally have some good luck.. only need 1.41 VTT with this set up. and lower dimm v:):)
Do you guys have LLC enabled? If yes, which mode?
So when you flash the BIOS does it flash both chips?
No, you have to choose which one you want to flash.
I was able to run my HD 5850 at 1000mhz core/1300mhz memory with 1.2 v
And now since I upgraded from my Q9650 (lga 775) to my i7 930 (1366)
I cannot run it as fast as I could with the same voltage and overclock, when I play 5 minutes of Metro 2033, it always freeze and I get vertical green lines. My temps are below 60'C (even on the VRM )
I have my i7 930 OC to 4.3 Ghz with 1.3375v in BIOS
I'll have another HD 5850 in crossfire (x16,x16) in a week and it will be also watercool and I plan to Overclock it as well...
My IOH Voltage is actually at 1.19 v
My IOH PCIE Volateg is on auto
What should I do. Thanks Guys!
Enermax Revolution 950w?? I had a OCZ GameXtream 700W before and the card was fine...
try some other games just to be sure
Metro is heavy on the hardware, maybe bring your pcie freq' up a bit Im running 5870's at 110
Karlitos how does it play @ stock frequencies (I mean the video cards?)
@Karlitos
Green Lines at the ATI 58xx Is a Problem from the Vram clock
Its a xfx or?
Set 1320MHz or 1280Mhz VRam clock
Hi Guys,
first post here,
have browsed these forums for a number of years but never actually posted. so here I am.
Sporting a Brand new Rampage III extreme with Intel i7 920 D0 SLBEJ.
G.Skill Trident 3X2GB, ATI 5970
Full EK water block on RIII
Koolance water block on 5970
Overclocked currently to 4.2ghz, but not able to complete benchmarks in vantage due to BSOD.
still toying with BIOS
anyone else having bios corruption issues?
so far, loving this board 4.5Ghz i7 920 24 hour prime95 stable...very nice board!! EK full coverage block, NB stays very cool, no way to check the VRM's with software?? maybe I just missed it. lol
Great work Kortas
Welcome to the RE3 club :-)
nice looking rig you have, what part of vantage do you blue screen ?
As my set up is very similar to yours, I am running a 920 @ 4.2 with 5870s in xfire
with full w/c dual loop, ek all round,
Rick
Thanks fmsam :)
I'm getting the BSOD at 1st CPU test, few seconds into watching the pretty planes flying around it freezes, and or BSOD's on me.
Tried playing around in BIOS but I'm not getting anywhere to fast.
My target OC is 4.2ghz I think thats good enough for me.
Does anyone know why a BIOS would overclock a multi without intervention? Im using 0702 and now my multi which is set at Auto in the bios shows to be 22 on CPU-Z. Isn't the 930 locked at 21 or lower? If not, isn't 21 the default multi?
With 0602 it was 21... any ideas as to why Asus would do something like that??
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k1...me/OCMulti.jpg
The i7 930 has a 21 multi across all cores, the 22 is turbo mode enabled on a single core.
I have, I had 0c showing for cpu temp then reboot and be 60c reflash bios and it read 32c "Normal" then reboot and be at 0c again. I also had 1 board with a dead USB the next came with dead Firewire... I'm waiting on my 3rd now should be here at the end of the week. If it doesn't fly i'm taking refund and getting something else.
I never had any problems with ASUS but with this board i haven't had any luck.
Turbo mode was enabled by default in both BIOS versions that I've used. I disable it when it reboots after flashing.
Any one check the dpc latency on this bad boy? Also what firewire chipset is it? I assume via.
I sure wish Asus would give us an option to disable HPET!
Both 0402 and 0602 had my 930 set at 21 by default. Only did it change to 22 after flashing to beta 0702. So now if I set everything to default it really wont be default. The 930 runs at 2800 Mhz by default not 2935, like it is now. Im not complaining just curious if that seems like a normal thing for a new BIOS to do. Should I flash again just in case its corrupted?
anyone wanna share the 702 beta
Just flashed to BIOS 0602, All seemed fine until complete power off over night.
- Woke up to bad overclock, weird as it was working the night before,
- Reset to default and machine wont boot or post.
- Reset BIOS again and settings are corrupt
- Reset BIOS again and finally I can post, however my RAID array was missing
Just repaired Windows 7 and all seems stable, but I'm running at default settings will try some OC again tonight.
Anyone else here care to share bios settings for specs same as mine? must be someone.
I am starting to think there is something wrong with the 602 bios. Having instability problems at the weirdest times. Others seem to be having the same probs. I think I am gonna move off of 602 and see if it helps. Dont want to worry about stupid quirks when trying to nail down the OC on my 980x when it gets here
I had something wierd happen to me on 0602. I was going to sell my HD5870, but it was flashed with an Asus BIOS so I had to flash back to the original XFX one. So I removed my OC'd settings and set it to default, flashed the card and the comp would not boot up at all. So I moved the HD5870 to a different PCIe slot, and it booted, but the bootup said "Overclock failed! Press F1 to enter setup" or something like that. The thing was, I was running default. So I went to the BIOS and set default again, moved the HD5870 back and no boot again. I was running out of time, so I just left it whilst I went to sell my HD5870 to a local guy, picked up my GTX470 and popped it in the rig. Worked straight off the bat, but again it said "Overclock failed". I went into the BIOS, set my normal overclocked settings and it worked. It's been running like in my sig for about 1 week now, not one single error/BSOD. No idea what the overclock failed-thing was about.
Sorry if I am stealing the thread or not posting in the right forum.
Just got my Rampage III and setting it up with 2 x GTX480 in SLI.
I know the ideal is to use PCIe slots 1 & 3 to get the full x16 but I have a sound blaster card that is PCi and placing a GTX480 in the 3rd PCIe covers the PCi slot.
I could get to the PCi slot for the sound card if I used PCIe slots 2 & 4 for the GTX480's but I believe this will only give me x8 instead of x16 for them.
Is someone able to tell me if this correct and/or is there a work around for this?
Or am I stuck with having to use the onboard sound (is anyone else using the onboard sound? is it good quality?) or do I need to buy a PCIe sound card?
thanks for any help
If someone has a minute or two could you please run DPC Latency checker and report the results. I'm looking at the board to handle my crossfire gaming but I also use it as a DAW.
http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
Thanks in advance,
Jeff
My O/C I7-930 is working great at 4ghz with the Bios that the MB shipped .0402 So I wont be moving off this one unitl I really see a compelling reason.
To get lower numbers:
Disable C1E
Disable all C State
Disable Turbo
Some say to disable speedstep, but I notice no change on doing that. Plus I don't like my CPU being pinned 24/7
Ultimately to get it lower you need to disable HPET (High Precision Event Timer), but Asus doesn't give us that option. Though I've read that disabling ACPI 2.0 support is the equivalent on a Asus board, but from the description I doubt that.
If you don't mind, disable ACPI 2.0 support and see if that does anything for the numbers.
Again, I really appreciate your time on this. I don't want to spend $400 CDN and not know exactly what I'm getting into.
I understand that, all I am saying is no one even knows if the new 702 BIOS has anything related to overclocking/performance tweaks, some BIOSs are simply released to fix misspelled words in the BIOS, hardly worth risking a top end board using a BETA BIOS for a spelling mistake ;). Anyone with a brain would at least wait to see what the release log is and/or the source of the BIOS before flashing their board with a BIOS that no one knows anything about.
If your sound card is PCI-E then you can put it in any of the slots as PCI-E is backwards compatible. If however, it is PCI then you will either have to use the onboard sound for 2x PCI-E x16 graphics cards, or use your PCI sound card along with 2x PCI-E GFX cards with a x8/x16 combo (could be x8/x8 I'm not sure - either way you won't notice much difference tbh but it's up to you), maybe invest in a PCI-E sound card?.
Here´s the 0702 beta for those who want it, I have added it in the OP also.
Right I am looking for a bit of advice!
I have my i7 930 overclocked with a 212BCLK - 100% Prime95/LinX stable.
Increase the BCLK to 213 and the BIOS is slightly laggy (If I bring the multi down to 12x however, it doesn’t lag at all).
Increase the BCLK to 214+ and it just refuses to post.
I have played around with almost every setting, the only one that got me anywhere yesterday was the CPU/IOH clock skew. I somehow got 215BCLK to post.
It's really bugging me because my temps and volts are fine atm (1.28V for 212/4.03GHz - max 70C~)
When the board posts the voltage LED things get stuck on DRAM. However even when loosening the timings to CAS9 and downclocking to the lowest available DRAM multi it doesn't make any difference.
Atm the board just halts on the DRAM post, and the GFX fan goes crazy. By putting the PWM frequency on 750KHz the GPU fan stops going crazy but it still won't post.
So far the only settings that have made ANY difference are:
IOH clock skew
CPU clock skew
PWM frequency
Also adding to this mystery, putting any of the IOH/ICH volts above default fails the post above 212BCLK(213 won’t work either), along with putting the QPI above 1.35V~.
Confused.com
Heres another link for 0702 that I uploaded yesterday if anyone is interested...
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ULW4OB1P
Can some1 help me here.
if my memory voltage is set @ 1.65v and if i set my qpi/dram 2.00v is this classed as safe as its within half a volt of each other. even @ 4 ghz
