1200 is WAY pushing it, some *choice* kits might get that with 2.2-2.3V....it's NOT about voltage though, Powerchips don't scale with voltage...it's about certain batches/chips being able to hit a higher number.
What i will say is pretty much all 1000MHz rated kits will reach 1066MHz with 2.0-2.1V, my own reaches this with 2.05V.
I wish they did a guide for DFI, as I am having a hell of a time trying to get the subtimings right on my X48. 424x9 on 333/800 strap, and I've tried almost everything. any suggestions /settings from those who haver this board and ram?
well my first test arent any good, 533mhz is gonna be a pain in the ass...
even at 2.2V those stick dont like to go high it seems, to bad
526mhz is doable
Well, for the price.. i guess we can't complain too much :(
I'm waiting on the UPS guy to deliver mine, we'll see what i get.
Post your sub-timings guys, and be sure to compare them with mine.
My sums are set to Auto, Performance Level 7.
Does somebody already have the "new" models, whit new heatspreaders? :)
Greets!
anybody using these on a dfi lt x48? please share your best performance settings. save me hours
thanks
I just got mine, with the sub-timings, do you set it in memset or bios?
My bios looks like this, i have no idea what to change.
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...1/DSCF2841.jpg
ThatGuy16.. I run the ram at DDR1000 5-5-5-15-2-3-3-47-1-7-29-2.. Same bios as you. That is as tight as I can get it stable around that speed.
Just tried it, and was not succesful. I can't even get DDR2-890 without a lockup 5 minutes into windows.
I need HELP, please!! :help:
I'm about out of ideas, i bought this ram to replace of my crappy corsair so i can get my CPU further. I'm hoping it user error...
The only way i can even get it to post at DDR2-890 is on AUTO, and at that it freezes in windows :shakes:
This is at 890 on AUTO, I'm mad.. i want to start overclocking, but i can't figure any of this out!
Any suggestions, please?
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...1/DSCF2843.jpg
WAY under spec.. i'm running everything at stock right now, just to be posting here. :(
hehe, yeah.. its was my NB voltage the whole time
Well, atleast i found my problem.
I'm running orthos with these at 1068, IF it passes, i'll run memtest for a pass or two..
Now i need to get it stable enough for 4.6Ghz+ benching, but I guess its my board having trouble getting above 500 FSB
All I can say is Wow! 550Mhz at 2.1V at 10 hours of Memtest, and 24hrs of prime...and for $85....sick RAM as always...never had a bad G.Skill stick! Awesome RAM.
Tried 565Mhz but it was a no go at any timings, and up to 2.2V...
Timings...
http://home.comcast.net/~aicjofs/ram550.jpg
Well, i got mine at DDR2-1068 2.08v 5-5-5-12. I ran memtest for one hour, and played games for a few hours. Seems stable to me, i might do a long run of memtest later though.
My sub-timings are set to auto, every time i make any small change, my system locks up, or doesn't post.
The 8500 4GB kit is now down to $145 with free shipping:

Another price drop, now down to $140 with free shipping:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231166
Thats a great price for what this ram can do!
I have the DDR2-1000 set, i have been running 1068 stable at 2.0v (5-5-5-12).. I've never been big on overclocking ram, but I'm temped to see what my set can do
Nice ram guys, just got a new kit meself to go with the rig in sig, just stressing fsb:ram @ 495mhz 1:1, had the odd error in orthos, soooo more fsb an Nb volts and i hope all will be well.. Then the full timin tweaks after i can gain full stability. Gonna have to wait for the cpu oc's i dont think my cooler will cope :(
Had some real issues with vista64 os on this rig, was gonna buy the p35 mobo then decided i needed sli at the last minute, me greedy as ever for me games :D
Seems to be doing what i bought the rig for (fast gaming 2day), and am very happy your forum pages pointed me in the right direction. Will keep yall posted when i get some good results, dont seem right to have gotten so much good advice from extreme forum an not put nuffin back in.
As ever upwards an onwards :yepp:
Hi
I have tweaked my memory for many hours/days now and 535/1070 is max with divider.
But now i run 520 1:1 2.0v 5.5.5.3.15, most likely is my cpu stopping me from going further. 525+ shouldnt be a problem for DFI P35, just having a 7x multi makes me regret buying a 6550, when 8x 6750 was just a bit more expensive :(
What is the max clock with Timings: 5-5-5-15 and 2.2 and 2.3 v .Thanks
I cant get past 535, tried relax subtimings and trfc to 56, 2.4v and 5.5.5.15 timings. Can't get past.
Had about 4 errors in memtest @540 with test 5 looped 10 times.
well, i will not get past 534
but 504mhz is stable at 5-5-4-15 with trf at 45 and other low subtimings, actually thats all i need with my E8400 at 9*420 with a 5:6 divider, so i am quite happy
Didn't really help, I was able to reduce the Memtest errors to zero at 565Mhz by advancing the skew 300ps, but it feels on the hairy edge of stability there. At 570Mhz, I get about 6 errors, with TRFC at 55(60 or 65 too), Voltage at 2.2, and skew advanced 300ps. So I'm calling this set of sticks capped at right around 565, very happy with 550Mhz though. :up:Quote:
Try TRFC @ 54-55.Quote:

Mine did 540Mhz till one broke... (that was a month later) I wouldn't go over 533 if ya want to keep these a long time...
2.1volts mate with a Corsair dominator fan on top of the dimms... no heating probs there... one just capped out on me... got the kit back from RMA and still runs fine at 1066Mhz 2.05volts on the P5K dlx
It's not guaranteed.
The highest I could go with mine was 1056 to pass Memtest86+
DFI mobos has very tight subtimings if u run AUTO. My tip is checking out The official threads of your mobo. Ive got my subtimings from the Official DFI P35 thread, otherwise it's alot of try and error.
EDIT: nvm
Down to 75$ shipped now :D
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145
Ordered just 3 days back for 80$ after the 10$ promo code :(
WOW!...what a price tag!!
It's upto $85...seems to go up and down each few days.
Can someone explain strapping to me please? I looked and I cannot find anything that explains strappings in details and what it does. The reason I ask is that I cannot run these sticks at 1003Mhz with my FSB at 400x9, this is the 400Mhz strap, however if I put them at 1080Mhz with my FSB at 450x8 it runs like a champ, strapping is at 333Mhz. I just cannot grasp the strapping concept and it seems that ram on my MB does not like anything other than 333Mhz strap. I just need an explanation so I can figure out what I am doing wrong.
Thanks,
Utnorris
Nice RAM, I am running 535mhz due to my settings on my E8400. So far rock stable. Great bandwidth.
EnJoY: -Any Ideas on my timmings to reach 565 mhz 24/7 ? I have tryied the TRFC 55 and 2.2v already.

Try setting your 3's to 4's and your refresh to 60.

Is anyone running this set of RAM with an ASUS P5k Deluxe Wifi-AP motherboard?
And if yes, have you ever had any problems with the board not POSTing?
Thanks in advance.
anybody doing 510+ running 8GB? mine won't boot above that speed
Just curious, how do you do that? With Memset?
Thanks,
Utnorris
I picked some of these up about a week ago at the Egg for $85 shipped. Currently have it OC at 1026. It enabled me to be able to drop my multi to 8 and run over 500 fsb
I have not tried to find max overclock/latency with this yet but it is good stuff for the price:up:
How did I miss this thread for so long?
Thanks to everyone in the thread for the info. Thinking about trading my XMS2 for these.
I PMed euonline this message, but perhaps some of you can help out too:
"euonline, Do you think you could email me your screenshot? The link just goes to imageshack, and I'd like to look over your timings carefully.
I have an e8400 with an abit IP35-pro mobo (and obv same mem chips). I cannot seem to get the memory stable with anything useful above 450Mhz.
Right now I am running my CPU @ 9*450, and I want to use the 5:6 strap (540Mhz), but I just can't get it stable. I tried setting it to 5-5-5-15-52-2T @ 2.2v, but got 8 errors over an 8hr memtest run. All the subs were set to auto. I'm hoping that by fine tuning my subs (which i have very little exp with), i can get my ram more stable and get a bit more out of it.
If I can get that to go well, then maybe I can try pushing my CPU a bit more (with diff multis as well).
BTW, do you know if MCH voltage affects memory overclock as well (directly), or just whether or not your mobo is stable at your FSB?
What test do you use to test mobo FSB stability? Obv you'd want to set your cpu multi all the way down and your ram at 1:1 for testing, but what program? ORTHOS mix? ORTHOS blend? Something else?
Thank you much for your help!"

Much! Keep tightening those timings (and testing with your favorite RAM stability tester).
On another note, anyone have any idea how much voltage is safe to push to these sticks? I'm trying to push my FSB/RAM OC to the limit (have to use 1:1 ratio due to already high FSB for CPU OC), and I'm afraid to go over 2.2v for regular use. Is 2.2v safe, and if so, can I go any higher?
Also, it looks like you guys have higher tREF, but it dosn't seem that I can edit this in my BIOS, and MEMSET doesn't let me change anything!
Right now the highest I can get (using any ratio) is 536 (or DDR2 1072). I'd like, to get to 540 or higher, since I KNOW my E8400 will do 4.05GHz, but I want to see if it'll go any higher.
Right now = 7.5 x 536 = 4.02GHz
Here are the relevant voltages (I haven't tried to get these down at all yet, if possible):
DDR2: 2.2v
DDR2 Ref: +2%
MCH: 1.48v
ICHIO: 1.6v
ICH: 1.09
EnJoy - I'm hoping you especially can help me out regarding RAM & mobo voltages, since you have the abit IP35 Pro as well.
Here is my current OC with timings... I'd like to push this further:

My G.Skill sticks are overclocking duds, I cannot get them to 1066 no matter what I do, but I think setting Performance Level 4 makes up for the loss.
Currently at VMCH at 1.55, VDIMM at 2.15V. Still testing stability. VDIMM 2.10 failed Linpack, so now trying 2.15.
Well nope, 2.15V still fails Linpack. I am going to bump VMCH to 1.7V and see if that improves. Do other people have suggestions regarding tRD and which voltages?
Have you tried if you can push them to 1066 when setting a relaxed Performance Level ( 6+, don't know a specific number, never used a P35 ) and a tRFC of 55 or higher?
tRFC is the most important timing for these 4GB kits.
I set the PL as loose as possible, VDIMM 2.2V, tRFC 60+.
What happens is the BIOS boots extremely slowly, crashes, claims its corrupt and starts the BIOS recovery, or if it manages to boot fine, Memtest will report errors.
I am happy with DDR2-1000 though, so now I am just working on tweaking so it is stable at extremely tight timings. I read on some earlier pages someone was more stable at 5-5-5-12, so I'm trying that right now.
TRFC 60 is overkill, it should not need to be that loose on most boards. 55 should be plenty.
As for voltages, you also should not need to pump vMCHthrough the roof, unless you're dead set on maintaining a tight tRD / PL while running a relatively high FSB. In addition, watch your vDIMM and keep them cool. No need to be pumping 2.2v+ into these chips; they don't need it and they don't want it.
Well, turned out I just needed to bump VCore a bit more. Here is a shot with 32M SuperPi.

i got my mushin redline to 1130 same ics as gskill any help to gelp em go higher my set responds to voltage lower than 2.1 cant go above 1000mhz
with 2.15 1130mhz is stable but 1135 gettin errors
higher trcf doesnt help
tref:12800t givin a nice boost
Here are my results with Q9450 @ 8x482...
Also included E8400 @ 8x533 run... FSB:DRAM 1:1...
This topic is really excellent....a lot of information super important. Congratulations Enjoy

Does anyone think that these could handle 4-4-4-10 @ 1000mhz?
I'm at 5-5-5-12 @ 1000mhz now.
Thanks
keep up the good work
Well don't get me wrong there, no need to getr all messed up, temper temper.... I just meant they are dead cheap for being PC8000 sticks...( I payed over 400 dollars for the first Mushkins 4Gb kit ) and here in Belgium some PC6400 kits retail at the same price as these babies...
But it's known that for 24/7 use you better run them at stock or at 1066Mhz max to keep them a long time... the speeds I tested are for bench sessions only... and these sticks don't clock as good as 1Gb stick which most peeps tend to forget...
Hope it's clear now (english is not my mother language you see)
No problem.
When ever I see "noob or peep" sometimes I take it incorrectly. This is my 1st build (comming from Dell oem crap, I got tired of being ****** by Dell in my costly upgrade attempts. My 1st computer was a Commedor64.
Anyway, is 5-5-5-12 @ 1000mhz ok for 24/7 use? I saw some on this thread were running that. Thanks
if ya sticks can handle it , no sweat... I run mine at 1066Mhz 5-5-5-15
Mine are still running strong at 1068 5-5-5-12 @ 2.05v
It's strange that I can't run anywhere close to Performance Level 4 with these. With everything the same, on IP35 Pro, PL 6 is what is set in Memtest. If I try 5, instant lockup.
Otherwise not bad so far, but I'm a bit confused when setting timings in the BIOS, then seeing different numbers in Memset...
Performance level 4 with what MHz? That's pretty tough for 1000MHz 2GB sticks.
I can run PL4 at 1000.
Performance Level / tRD is highly dependent on FSB. Run high FSB, and you'll have to loosen up tRD big time. Run low FSB, and you can tighten it.
I run 400x9 4:5 to get 500mhz.
I run 400 so my CPU kicks down to 2400Mhz at idle and only uses 1.1-1.2 volts. Works like a dream. If I did 500 1:1 I'd only kick down to 3000Mhz. The TDP is quite different between 2400 1.15v and 3600 1.35v ;)
Anyway I'm rock solid at 500 5-5-5-3-15 2.0v. I needed an upgrade from my 2Gb Ballistix because I was getting memory errors in Photoshop. At first they wouldn't boot, but a quick jump on here found that I needed to change my tRFC to 55. The Ballistix liked 30 at the same 500mhz 5-5-5-15 2.0v setting.
My other timings are:
4
55
6
14
11
3
8
5
4
2600T
2T
I just picked up a second set and they are running just fine in my DFI X38, 8 gigs may be a bit much for me but for the price I couldnt pass it up.
No the highest I can run my board stable for 24/7 is 478 fsb, I am running them at 450x9 for 4050Mhz because I dont think the extra 300Mhz is worth the strain on the system.
I have not attempted 500 FSB with 4 sticks because it is flakey with just 2 @ 500, I think it is more my lack of skill than hardware though.
Had my brothers set running 550mhz 5-5-5-15 1:1 @ 2.1V on his TP45 HP... That was only with about an hour of testing. I'll test further later today.
can someone tell me a nice ram config to push it through orthos ?
if i select stress cpu AND ram it crashes.. must be the ram..
http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=8x500mpc.jpg
I have 2 kits of this DDR2 and both run great @ 1000mhz 5 5 5 15. thanks OP for posting your results too!
ive problems to get this ram 2x2gb stable in memtest+ for 500x8. 1:1
tryed default, 5-6-6-20-72, 6-7-7-20-105 etc eg w/o success
i also tryed some settings from this thread...
any help 8( ?
