I'm going to ask something stupid but .... did anyone tried to flash the P5K Deluxe bios on a P5K-E ?? Is it possible ? Shouldn't it be ? Aren't they very similar ? Same PCB and all ! :D

You can try, asus has this this program that when you screw your bios you throw the cd in and its somehow magically fixed.
Look it up though, read it through. Be prepared.
I just want 3GHz and 1GHz RAM, but I have NO idea what these extra settings are!
My lil 650i was so much easier :(
Assuming you have a Q6600 ( 9 multi ) and PC 8000 ram as your signature gives PC5300 RAM and E6600 ( so also 9 multi ) , nothing hard for 3ghz mate, 400FSB might need some more intervention though 450 runs flatout here with 1.4 NB and all other settings for me on lowest setting, if you own a quad now you must play with the PLL setting : 1.6 should be more than sufficient for most FSB settings....

@leeghoofd - I agree, I use pretty much the same settings, minus the PCI-e frequency change and the legacy USB.
Has anyone noticed any difference when overclocking on the 601 Bios? More stable, less stable, higher OC, things that run cooler? Ive got the 503 bios I believe, but Id love to get some improvements.
As per settings but personally I would put FSB=1.3 or 1.4 as the the quad cores use FSB when communicating with each other and this will give you better stability in an overclock. You may find these links of use for BIOS setting detail and overclocking.

Finally I've got 3.2Ghz stable (400x8 | 1:1)with this config:

I've had to raise the vCore to 1'525 in Bios (1'5v in Everest). Is this too voltage? If you notice in CPU-Z the vCore is 1'238v... Why?
As you can see the core temps working hard (orthos) reached a maximum of 60C, being always between 55-60C (45 on idle).
Well, I hope that this PC remain stable with the Mac OSX86 I'm going to install before Christmas... :D
Thanks for all Sesdave and all those who shares his knowledge...
Good start but 1.525v seems a lot of volts to get 400x8 - a lot of the E6600's were able to achieve that on stock volts or there about. Mine did 3.6 with 1.5v on a P5W but I ran it 390x9 with 1.45v most of the time. What batch is yours - it may be that you have just been unlucky on the one you got. Its woth trying raising the multipler to 9 and Northbridge=1.55 and see if that loads. at 400x9. If not or not stable drop the FSB down in increments of 10 keeping memory 1:1 until it does then try lowering the vcore. What PSU have you got - everest is showing the 12v rail as supplying only 11v (probably not accurate) and (dumb question but--) have you connected the 4/8 pin 12v connector to the board? Have you also checked the RAM out with memtest86 - what colour slots is it in.
Loyx, try to lower your Vcore, that seems so high... running my Q6600 @3.4Ghz with 1.375V... all other voltages are at the lowest settings.
He has a E6600 which probably needs different settings - they averaged 3.6 on 1.5v so it is a lot of volts for 3.2 - wont kill it though!.
You might be able to get a higher o/c if you raise the FSB and north bridge voltages to 1.4. Quad cores use FSB to communicate. But I suspect you are happy with the low vcore-lol!
It seems that I have to test another configs... :(
My PSU is a Thermaltake Toughpower 550W. I have the 4 pin 12v connector plugged in. And the RAM are in the green slots (1,3).
First I'm going to check the ram with memtest86 for search errors. Then I'll try raising the multiplier (9)... and the northbridge voltage (1.55v)...
I'm wih the 0404 bios. Should I have to upgrade it to the latest? There are this bios in asus ftp:
File: 0501.zip 968 KB 22:11:00
File: 0503.zip 968 KB 22:11:00
File: 0505.zip 969 KB 16:11:00
File: 0601.zip 971 KB 16:39:00
Maybe that could help a little bit... or no?
Remember what I said that its luck of the draw on whether you get a good clocking CPU - we are just trying to establish if the overclock is being restricted by something other than the CPU.
how old is the PSU you have. Have you used it on another machine? The vcore just seems a tad high for an o/c of 3.2 on an e6600 - should do more on less but may not!. Did you buy the CPU new - what is its batch number.?
Green RAM slots ? I thought they were yellow or black. I found the black gave me best stability.
Once you have tried the above and if no luck see if you can borrow another PSU to try - Cant advise on the BIOS as I am now using a premium. Check the thread for feedback on the latest deluxe BIOS.
I flashed my bios with the 601 beta on the site. Corrupted the bios, and im having Asus ship me a new board :( Tried everything, including pulling all cables and drives and doing a 12hr cmos clear. Im going to try flashing it again when i get the new one... I just put the new bios on a flash drive, then used the EZflash utility in the bios. It verified the file and everything, but still got corrupted. I hit F1 to enter the bios after it flashed it, then immediately went to black screen. I dunno. kinda peeved about having to take out my whole water setup though.
Unlucky mate. I feel for you.
Orion you tried to flash with an OC ? Was the rig stable before ?
Mates, I think I've found the problem...
My Batch num: L707A409
Some comments about this Batch:

Yes, I'm unlucky! :( This batch gets poor OC's
I'm going to set the cpu @ 3.0Mhz and maybe after Xmas I'll order a newest CPU. What about a Q6600? xD
Bummer - I RMA'd my deluxe a few months back after using Asus update(serves me right for using it) but that failed verify which is why it corrupted.- my lesson learnt!. Is it totally corrupted e.g no post at all -stange if it verified okay. If not crashfree to an older version might do it.
