Sounds like you have not stressed long enough. Run small ftt's for 12 hours, if it fails, it's most likely vcore or Term. Run blend for 12 hours, if it fails, it's most likely MCH or ram.Quote:

I would say what ever your CPU is happy with , go with as long as it isn't above say 1.35.. you can go higher but people get scared after a certain amount so I would think 1.35 should be safe.. Mine is set to 1.40 or .42 and it's fine and has been for awhile....
Mine won't run the speeds I'm at now without that voltage on the vtt, every CPU and chipset and any chip made is different a little..

The QX9650 doesn't clock as well as the Q9650. and i cant imagine that the dfi doesn't do 400FSB (as you say you want to run 400x10). nearly every bord including the G31 and G33 will clock to 400FSB....Quote:

...easiest clocker I had with great reactions ...always reboot after fail !! no need to reset bios or even cut off the PSU.
Deviders work fine on DDR2 ones to push ram frequencies :)
But a bit dissapointed about how the FSB scales : stuck @580 (stable) --> 610 max with lot of pain xD

sorry guys, i was probably trying to keep my post above a bit short while getting in the details. As for the DFI, I had it at 400 fsb. I was running 400x9 at 1.26 (stock setting was 1.24) for over a year. I definitely tried leaving it at 400 and change the multiplier to 10 while raising the vcore, nb and slight bump in sb. Nothing too wrong with 3.6, but would enjoy playing with it at 4.0 and then wreaking havoc on the chip before I upgrade in a few years. I was just checking to see if 4.0 is pretty easy to obtain and run 24/7 with this board (and then to have some fun with in a year or two). Although I'm not looking to bench, i use the crap out of it for gaming, a couple of the games more cpu intensive than gpu. Running a gtx 280 currently and plan on getting the 5970 in a few months (provided my cpu isn't the bottleneck, then might get 5870). Thanks again for any advice.

I'm writing because I really need some help.
I was suggested by MrDucky on DFI topic to go with Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard instead of DFI LanParty DK P45-T2RS Plus, for best quad CPU overclocker, as a replacement for present Asus Rampage Formula, which I consider right now as waste of my money. Too much efforts, too much voltage put on every hardware to reach barely stable FSB480... so I'd like to ask you guys which Gigabyte's motherboard performs best with quad CPU and DDR2 RAM? I mean OC of course. I've already seen SystemVipers OC results here- well, my congrats with this one. FSB550 is something I really can't even imagine. Greetings.
Either the UD3P or the UD3R if you dont need CF/SLI. Both should be able to get to ~550fsb assuming the chip can do it and you have adequate cooling. So far the highest ive had mine is low 560s and able to bench in the 550s with cool water.

Because I plan to buy ATI HD5870, Crossfire is a great option, so I consider the UD3P would be more of use to me. I see there are 3 revisions: 1.0, 1.1, 1.6. What are the differences between each other? Should I look for specific revision? I use liquid cooling, quite efficient. It passed its test while using Rampage Formula and those horrible voltages.
Cooling is in sig, its winter here so lately ive been keeping my rads mounted in my window seal, usually with most if not all the fans off and covered for normal use. During that run outside temps were about 3C with water temps being about the same, when rads are inside priming at 4.5 with 1.344v and 21C ambients core temps are a little below 60C. All revisions clock good with minor differences but if your buying the board new youll most likely be getting a rev 1.6. The 1.1 and 1.6 have the revised heatsinks for better cpu heatsink clearance, the 1.0 and 1.1 both share the same bios while the 1.6 has its own since it has Smart 6. Other than that the boards are basically the same, if it matters my board is a 1.0.
Oh, right now I see your signature, didn't notice it yesterday. Quite clever idea to utilize or mother nature possibilities (didn't know there might be so much cold in Florida during winter). Well, although it's a little thaw here, but you should come to my country one day and see some real temp advantages, like -20 Celsius:)
For FSB500 you need only 1.34 vcore? I don't think that will be available with my Q9450, even with UD3P; it has 1.23 VID. What is yours like? As far as I use quite efficient cooling, temps wont be any problem. Right now with 1.45 vcore and ambient temp around 23 Celsius, during Prime tests I get 58Celsius for hottest CPU core, for NB (which has 1.75V) around 34Celsius. As you see, these voltages are too high and it's only FSB480. That's why I decide to change motherboard.
Im in the northern part of FL so it gets kinda cold in the winter but rarely ever gets below freezing, when it does its only for a few hours at a time at night. My chip is a low vid(1.15) E0 so its not going to need as much voltage as your C1, but it does run on the hotter side because of its vid. Either way you should have no problem getting a better clock out of this board vs your RF. :up:

With an EP45-UD3P and a Q9550 using the stock cooler I was able to get 3.82GHz Intel Burn Test 20 runs stable on all stock voltages. The temperatures were about 70-75C under Intel Burn Test so I put it back to the stock speed. I shall try for 4+ once I get my new case and water cooling.
My friend just got the EP43-UD3L and his Q9550 only goes up to 3.4Ghz (400x8.5) Intel Burn Test stable, but that's probably because the P43 blows for increasing FSB past 400mhz.

So I purchased this board to install an alternate OS, and it was working fine. Install went great, and I was dual booting with Win7 perfectly. 3 days after I get it, the lan ports both die completely, won't show up in windows, nothing. I RMA'd the board with Newegg, and 2 weeks later, I get the same issue. I called Gigabyte tech support, and we discovered the bios was corrupted, and both lan ports had mac addresses of gibberish, FFFFFFFFFFFF and ABABABABABAB.
That being said, I reflashed the bios and was back up and running until today, where the same damn thing happened! Now, I reflashed again, everything is up and running (again), but I can now replicate the problem... Every time I unplug the power cord from the system, the lan ports gets shot. Anyone have any insight as to WTF is going on here? Every other setting stays the same, so I'm assuming it's not the CMOS battery, it's just the mac addresses that change.
One other issue that's annoying me but isn't a huge priority... Windows experience index refuses to run on this system, since I installed the board. On the old RMA'd board, it would produce an error at the end of the testing, but on this board, it won't run at all. I click the button to start the test and absolutely nothing happens.
Anyone have any insight?

You could try disabling quickboot - for some reason it hides the board info from the system on my 1.6 board (check with CPU-z). Worth a try, think that's what caused me problems with it in the past, but I think the only way to get the windows experience index working again was to reinstall, but doesn't cause me issues now, but that could also be to do with the onboard FB bios which hid the quickboot option :/
Nice work with that chip btw andressergio - Kinda wish I looked into that option when I splashed out before! I have an apogee XT block and a lapping kit on the way, should help me drop at least 5°C off load temps and maybe head for some 5GHz benching action.
I have a syringe of that coollabs liquid pro tim which has worked great on a well lapped surface in the past, will be interesting to see how it compares to mx3.

I was wondering if the sleep issue is fixed in any of the latest BIOS's after F9 which is what I'm on right now.
If I put the PC to sleep now I can't resume working. It just keeps turning on and off in a cycle. Or just stays on with a black screen and won't come back.

Mine is a x3350 on the 45t board so the multi and ram speed will need looking at differently More recent observations suggest that a 50ps to 100ps cpu skew alone (none on mch) works better

this is my second EP45, and it's not working out for me :mad:
there is a fsb wall at exactly 449fsb. i was trying to hit 4.5ghz exactly with e8600, but it won't boot (i tried 6x450mhz, and does not boot). when booting at 10x449mhz (1mhz less than what i really want), it's stable for hours, even with the high multiplier. and anyone shed some light why my specific UD3P has such a low fsb wall? here's my settings in bios:
450mhz fsb

memory multiplier 2.40B (1080mhz)

for a dual core some of your voltages are very high.pll at 1.85 way to high.

thanks robert! crap i mistaken the CPU PLL with some other voltages :eek:. this never went above 1.6v on my REX... brb before i get some CPU damage lol
EDIT: good news, i lowered PLL down to 1.57v and it now boots with 450mhz fsb. bad news, i think my CPU degraded from stressing it for hours (10x449fsb) with such accidental high vPLL :(
