So quite on the forums and we have no one else but ourselves to thank for that, time to get benching folks!

After selling all my retail Haswells decided to go see what new batches my local brick and mortar had and ended up leaving with a GTX 780 Ti DC2 as well.

Quick testing shows that Hynix is epic, 2050mhz on the memory stable through 11, stock core.

What an interesting CPU, Conroe core but in 45nm and with 3MB cache and 266 MHz FSB. Almost 1.6V for almost 4.8 GHz isn't even that great, but on the other hand, almost 100% overclock on air is pretty cool! :up:

I've been working too much to bench. Bought a few parts though so I will be benching soon. Got an E8600, 2 Celeron 450s and another HD3870. Plus I finished my ss phase change but haven't had time to test it.

Thanks Dan, the board is a P5Q Deluxe, and ram is D9's :D

The 780 is getting modded by CL3P20 as he is much stronger in that department than I, but I am thinking with the low ASIC (61%), and high memory clocks, 11 and FSE should be a blast on this card.

Crucial Ballistix is what I will be trying tomorrow, and no testing for max fsb or memory clock I was only on air after all.

Well, you could try for max FSB on air. :p:
Save a validation of max FSB when you can and submit it at the bot for some TPP. ;)

Which Ballistix kit do you have? 5300, 6400 or 8500?

Is this the first one you tried or the best so far from binning some of your chips? Do you bin on air or will you take the other five cold as well?

The Ballistix are 800 c4 bin and I ended up not even using them lol, I ende up using a single stick of my 2GB Pi 1200 c5 bin for the single core run since on prime it doesn't really matter.

Vcore is correct in cpuz and that is the first one I have tried, looking forward to testing the remaining ones:yepp: I will take the other five cold as well, just waiting for more juice to get here on Tuesday. I only have 20L or less so I think I am going to give the X5260 a spin for hwbot prime as well, should be interesting as there is not much data on these Xeon's.

I saw you got a 9600 PI kit, they're very nice and they should be good for 650 MHz CL5. :D
You could try the outer memory slots too, the inner ones might not be the best for achieving high memory clocks.

Did you try higher Vcore? 1.632V seems so low for Core 2, but the low power bin might not like higher Vcore. I'm curious what's the case here!

One thing about these s771 cpus is they are super cheap! I don't think my DFI mobos will support them though. Are you insulating some of the pins or can you just slap the cpu in and fire it up?

Hey Crabby, you will need something to block two pins on the back side, I bought 40 stickers from AliExpress and they got here reasonably quickly and cheaply hence the 771 binning madness:p:

The X5260 seems to perform just like an average E8600, what batch is it? ( It is an E8600 after all... :D )
Is this your first time on S775? Can you give me the rest of your ( voltage ) settings? Try tuning the FSB on air! :p:

You need these stickers and you have to remove the two notches in the socket that ensure correct CPU seating on S775 CPUs.

I did some research and found a thread here on xs and also found a seller on e bay but now the price is higher than it was yesterday lol. I'm content with what I have atm......

The Q6600 yes, I've had it for soooo long! Came in the 2nd pc I owned/bought back in 07. It needs so much vcore, 1.5+ for 3.6GHz. I'm using it to load and tune my ss hahahaha. The day after I set it up on my bench table the "April's Final Team Cup Warm-up" contest started and there is a Q6600 stage! I started with my HD3870, now I'm benching with my GTX 460. Not yet at the score I want but I still have more tuning to do and also try xp. I do have a new gpu inbound and its a bad mf lol, the single most expensive pc component I have ever bought and it has a ti in the name.

VID had me worried (1.27v) but it seemed to scale pretty well, and it had a -130c cb and -125c cbb, so all in a pretty fair cpu given the VID.

1.27V VID is pretty bad, but those chips can also be limited by FSB walls, so a bad VID chip can still be better than a chip with a promising VID as long as it has a higher FSB wall.

TCC5 binned for the same spec as TCCD shouldn't be a lot worse than TCCD though. Will you test the setup again?

Not anymore, sold off a lot of that platform years ago. P4C fully modded, think 730, special G Skill binned BH-5, CT-479 adapter (attempted Hipro mod, didn't go well :p:), full modded x850xt PE and modded full Cu Zalman. If I had means for sub zero, could have done some real damage.

Going to get an adapter for this platform and 771 adapter for my REX. Start doing some old school phase benching in the coming months.

Too bad, I saw an CT-479 on ebay.de today, but I was too slow at the end of the auction and it sold for 12,60€. Would've been nice to have it. :(
I remember the mods hipro did to his 479 setup, crazy stuff!

As far as I know X48 and the 771 mod don't play well together, that's why no one is using a REX for their tests. Try to find a cheap P35 or P45 board and don't risk killing your REX, they're too precious. Maybe George can chime in with more info, as he has done some testing with 771 chips.

Not a good idea to cut up a REX unless you plan to run a X33xx series Xeon and not the X54xx models. I have seen X48 chipsets work with 771 quads so it is possible, just search the 771-775 thread at OCN, I read like half of it the other day lol

Also be sure to update your bios with the correct microcode to "unleash the full POWAH!" :p:

Could and would are two different things! XD
There are lots of 2x and 3x core global and team points to be had. I still have Daveburt714's 8 GHz FX-8120 as well. I hope to send it home with him including a nice hunk of machined copper but he wants me to hold onto it for now.

Well, for 3x and 5x core AMD is the only way to go, but for 2x you need at least 3 different setups, none of which are AMD based. Clarkdale for WPrime ( and HWBOT Prime ), Wolfdale for HWBOT Prime and Westmere for Cinebench. More points could be had if you focused on 1x core with an AMD setup.

I saw it, but I'm afraid they're very rare nowadays. I've looked for it from time to time as well, but it seems impossible to find. Maybe you're better off trying to find another CT-479 adapter. Anyway, good luck! :up:

Thanks, not all of them are L3014's, quite a few X5260's and the real killer should be here today, the X5270.
This is Brian's old chip :), pcie clock was 110 or 115 iirc.

I see! Don't expect too much from the X5270, if they're anything like the E8700 they'll probably disappoint, the slightly higher multi over the E8600/X5260 doesn't matter.

So you're running Brian's old setup, nice! :)
115 MHz PCIe clock should be plenty, how much do you gain in Windows over boot clock?

The only issue with the E6500K is it is a Wolfdale 3-M core so like the L3014, 600 FSB will be hard on this one, but who needs that when unlocked right :ROTF:

The E6500K is an interesting chip, but they were realeased "too late" and today they're quite rare. I couldn't find one in Germany, only in Hong Kong, and for the price of one E6500K I could get a lot of other chips...
If you can find one for cheap, go for it! :yepp:
