thanks so much!
Got the UD3R board, I am pretty new with it, but I have reached Q9550 @ 4300 Mhz that is Intel Burn Test ok. My question is what are safe voltages for 45nm Quads with these P45 boards? Do they overvolt or do other bad things with voltages? I have not checked with dimm anything jet.
So what is max for vCore, FSB voltage, also reference voltage, PLL, MCH. I have Q9550 with watercooling, under heavy load Intel burn test 66/66/65/65 max temps.
Can not compare this board with P35 Asus P5K-E, this one loves 500+ FSB with Quad
With LLC enabled, voltage with a dmm is pretty close to what is set in bios for cpu. Cpu=z tends to read a little lower than the DMM usually.
For ddr I seem to get 2.1 when I set it at 2.06. So it is overvolted a bit.
And safe voltages.... I say 1.4v is as high as I am okay with volting the cpu under regular use. A few runs of spi or 3dm06 should be fine higher.
remember, these boards keep the cpu voltage the same under idle and load, so don't overdo it.
For me it is hard to get 518 FSB OK with Q9550, I did it, but with high FSB voltage, if I remember correctly, it was set to 1.48v in BIOS. What is this safe? I have read, that 1.51 killed a QX CPU, but it was different board
Also I tried FSB reference up to 1.04v with no luck, that was when I reduced FSB voltage to 1.46v, I am aiming for 518 x 8.5, that gives me 4400 Mhz for 24/7, have not tested with 8.5 jet, just 8x, was OK with 4300 Mhz, for tests I use 25 loops of Intel Burn Test. I have also tested skew and it did bad if more than 0 is added for CPU, also 700mv for CPU is the best, 800 is also ok, but 900 or 1000mv is freezing.
Also, this is the same chip Q9550 L845B with 1.275v VID (looked badly first), that was on Asus P5K-E P35, no more than 450 FSB, even 455 had freezing problems, and Gigabyte UD3R board is great. Lets hope in can handle 8 Gb of DDR2 good too, P5K-E did it great, 8gigs at ~ 1100 5-5-5-15. :p:
Does any body here own GTA IV? If so do you get a stuttering with the game? I know it seems off subject but trust me it's not.
If i want to run SATA ports in AHCI mode i must enable both "Sata RAID/AHCI Mode" => AHCI Mode and "Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode" or just "Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode" => AHCI mode ? 2 HDD's, no RAID function.
I usually just select both but it seems to really only require the first one being set to ahci.
Is sleep function fixed in bios 10 beta series for ep45-ud3p ver 1.0?
Thank you sergio ! It wasn't anywhere near stable though, just a screeny.
i.e. your post in the q9650 thread, thanks for that as well :) ... i won't be scared to put 1.5v+ for MCH and VTT, as long as it is for short term benching...
I believe the first one is for hard drives only, ACHI is faster than the default. But be warned, for XP you will need to install the ACHI drivers during install...
The second i believe is for optical drives, correct me if i'm wrong? If i set it to ACHI it loads discs faster etc...

I have a bit of a problem that i need some help with.
Basically, i can boot 500x8 and run blend for a while (with 1.28vtt, 1.30mch), not tested for thorough stabilty yet, but it runs for a good half an hour or so before i stopped. But, i went back down and tried to make my way up from 485x8, and it seems i can't get it to even run more than 3 tests of blend  I tried setting the exact same settings as 500x8 and it still doesn't pass 3 tests, i try more voltage and it makes it worse, i tried less and no difference. I messed with the amps, and skews and still can't pass more than 3 tests...
I then gave up and tried going for 495x8.5 for a 24/7 clock (4.2ghz... 4.2 is 99% stable at 467x9 at the given vcore), but yet again, it doesn't pass more than 3 tests. I tried 500x8.5 with the same settings and it went on for 20mins  but i blue screened, it doesn't make sense.
I can get 480x8 stable and 500x8 sort of stable, but 485 to 495fsb seems impossible to get stable...
Any thoughts?
the Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode one is for the two purple
sata ports if i remember correctly.the other is the ICH10
intel ports.
I am really having issues going over 450 FSB with E0 E8600 (Bios 10f)

Anything over that 455 x 8 is a no post. But as it is now is LINX 20 pass stable. CPU voltage can be much lower @ these settings will go with VID. Which is 1.250.
Memory is well capable of 1200 at 2.2V.
CPU can go 4.5 Ghz on MFII.
I tried all sorts of trial and error tests, read the forum etc. but i am stuck!
So what do you think? Could someone who knows his way with 2-cores give me some input? Thank you!
Read this thread, maybe will help you:

Ok I changed PLL to 1.5v
What's PL?
I'm also curious to know why CPU-Z reports Core Voltage at an almost constant 1.424v when I had it set to 1.39 (and just lowered it to 1.38, still no change)
Anything else I could lower?
Here are my settings on my board with a q6600 and a single stage, anything i should change or anything too high on volts? this is just my first play with overclocking on this board, hopefully i can get to 4.4 or 4.5ghz. What should i set me memory to? These new settings on this board confuse me a little.

I found out the reason why anything inbetween 480fsb and 500fsb wasn't stable... it was RAM. Strange...
It seems so picky with what timings can be set. At 467fsb with ram at 1868mhz 8-8-8-22, trfc 59, it ran blend overnight (8hours or so), using custom 3200mb of memory. But at 485fsb with 1940mhz on ram, the timings needed to be set to 10-10-10-28, trfc 84, to at least run blend for 10mins (i didn't test further). Yet 500fsb with ram at 2000mhz, with 8-8-8-24, trfc 84, it ran for an hour.... the ONLY thing different was that cmd rate was at 1n, which i can't set myself, it never sticks when i set in bios, only at 500+ it auto sets to 1n.
Is there something i'm missing with DDR3? I'm not too familier with RAM overclocking, i always thought it was pretty straight forward  Can anyone share their experiences and tips with DDR3? i would really appreciate it :)

Oztopher I am struggling on my ddr3 board as well, what are your complete settings including GTL refs?
Hey guys so I have a gigabyte e45-ud3p and an intel q6600 quad SLACR. I need some help with overclocking on the unit. I am on Phase change for the CPU cooling wise. With 2 spot cools over the NB and the RAM. I have a bench table, so everything is open air cooling also.
My Questions:
What are the safe voltage areas for my particular setup? Am I safe where I am at now? Can i go higher in some areas?(See Log of Settings)
What are some settings I can try for my memory. I dont quite understand the ratios anymore and Im not sure if the few attempts ive had BSOD because ive set memory to high or something. I have GSKILL F2-8500CL5D-4GBPI PC2-8500 5-5-5-15 2.1.
Is there anything you can see in my settings that I should change?

Can someone give me some info please, I want to know if its possible to run this memory cooler with the UD3P mobo without any clearance issues with the heatsinks
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835116021
My computer has been unhappy lately. When I enable LLC, the voltage stays above 1.4v almost always. When I disable, it drops as low as 1.392.
The problem is that I'm getting higher temps with the higher voltage (46*C or more idle) instead of 40. I keep reading about people having vCores in the low 1.300's, how can I do that? (or is that what happens when you get a "good chip"?)
I'm also getting blue screens here and there and games have frozen on me a few times (I was playing Batman AA and it froze) I'm having a hard time figuring out if this is the GFX card's problem though...
Any suggestions on where to start?
Is PLL set to 1.5 keeping my vCore higher than what I set it to with LLC enabled?
Hi Guys
I need you to help me .
I Have EP45-UD3R Rev 2.1 // Q9550 E0
I want to know what is the best bois should i use with my Ep45 , Im using the F11 .. Also i want to know if it safe to downgrade the bois or not ??
because i noticed a bug in the F11 bois
When i choose some volt configration ( speially the CPU Ref Volt , MCH Reference Volt) some value in bois then open ET6 in Windows i Relaize that the Volts had been changed wo be less that i chose
for example when i choose CPU Ref Volt 0.85 i open ET 6 then find it 0.76 !! so wut is the real one ?
but when i set these volt to be .85 in ET6 i got more stabilty in overclocking
So is this normal ???
Thanks guy , waitng for you help
thats not a bug thats the way it works.here read this.

BTW radaja, congrats on that q9650. You got a great chip there, you waited a long time for one.
thanks.problem is since i dont have time to really
OC right now im just going to sell it.:(take a couple of months
off,its a shame too cause your right it did take me awhile
to find it.
Does this motherboard have the right sound connections for an X-5500 speaker system? What kind of speakers can it support?
I bought me a UD3P as a backup board sense they so low in price now from Newegg with (Free Shipping).I gotta say. I kinda like so far so good on the Oc'ing right now

Some new BIOS's released.:D

F10I, Yay for having quick boot , boo for still having lower reads and higher latency.
What do you guys think about the EP45T-UD3LR? will the 4 pin ATX and 4 phases hold back the same stable OC I got on the EP45-UD3R?
I read the new P45 bioses unlock 0.5 multi, someone with Q9450 8x333 can use the 0.5 multi, so he get 8.5x333. can someone confirm that?
again.....UD3R.......
HIGH VID i got.........:(

too late!!:(
I've udated to F10i and pcie link width drop to 2x
http://s4.subirimagenes.com/otros/3625324linkwdth2x.jpg
I'm scared
After that i replace cpu-z to the last version (see pic)
and update nvidia drivers to the last version too, but no success
Can I come back to f10b?
I had previous f9
nice, just flashed to f10i everything good still no problems, quick boot thing is nice
andressergio is 10b best for the gigabut?
Mine still shows x16 link width but oddly doesnt show anything else. Quick boot feature allows you to boot quicker, :) about 4-5 seconds faster when enabled on mine.

reboot time
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...ss281/boot.jpg
Yes hoss same here, cpuz shows the same
my reboot time is longer as im on raid 0 2x500 seagates 7200.11 and dual boot slows a bit but i get 9 seconds less :D

Cheeeeez
Sergio
Ran bios 10i here but all it does is basically "hide" the dos dmi pooling screen, its not really quicker.
you can't see bios/mb info on mainboard tab in cpuz
ram latencies here were about 82.5
Went back to 10f and all good, can see bios info in mainboard tab now on cpuz and ram latencies are 64.4
BUT I can't run Gpuz it crashes error.
i did get newest nvidia drivers so that may be Gpuz issue with them.
no problems here mate with GPUZ neither with new 195.62 drivers bios just fine and yes its faster...10 - 9 seconds on my system less to boot, yes latencies are a bit more but its not new cauz since F10e they've been doing this, i could get more OC on 8,5 multi as maybe they modified timmings on chipset..
Cheers
Sergio
Andressergio...You using to 10b?
I think at one time you using 10b.
+1 , ran a quick prime test last night with F10I and so far so good. No real surprises other than no MB info in cpuz and maybe a glitch in memset since it now displays ram size just as 2048 instead of 2x2048.

I'm eyeing-up a v1.6 board at the moment, I could go for a 1.1 too, are either better than the other?
Anyone have a spare i/o shield for the EP45-UD3R or UD3P they would let me have or sell me for $5/shipped? Please PM me. I need one ASAP.
Soo hows the s775 life been treatin u all? Andre, Hoss, 007, radaja, etc? I miss u guys, yall need to step on up!! Just for comparison, i haven't tried anything under 4200mhz with the i7, but at 4200, i'm crushing all my benchies with the ud3p and q9650 @ 4.5 8GBgskill1200. I hesitated for a while before i jumped in, but i can say its 100% worth it. SLI and Xfire with the same board? Thats good stuff! SLI without nForce..Thats good stuff! I picked up one of these, new in box, from a junkie for cheap ($600) and played around with it. I changed the power supply and added a TRUE and was at 4200 Stable in 30 minutes with the factory 9gb of ddr3 running it at 1600. This bargain ASUS was killing my water cooled q9650. I sold the 9650 rig and went all out on a new i7 rig (in my sig) and i'm loving it. My new Gigabyte ex58a UD7 will be here Tuesday so maybe i'll run in to some of yall in the Gigabyte EX58 thread. If your not in there, i recommend coming as soon as you can! Sell that s775 Monster while you still can and step it up! lol STEP it UP!! Andre your single 285 is getting lonely. Wouldn't it be nice to add 1, 2 or even 3 more 285's to your machine? You can do it if you step up!! lol :ROTF::yepp::ROTF:
He can run SLI just fine on the UD3P ;)
It isn't so much about the scores on the 775/DDR2/Quad stuff...it is all about the fun and tweaking ;)
Check post #4991 for SLI
Not sure who else has tried it, but it sure looks to scale pretty well to me.
I am still trying to figure out why I can't run dual channel mode. I am on my 4th mobo and had upgraded my PSU. I think I need to pull everything out of the case and see what happens then.
Gigabyte needs to give you a life time free motherboard supply, I remember at the beginning of the year seeing you post about only being able to run single ch mem. If you are still running single ch on a giga board you are truly a loyal customer, someone from gigabyte needs to read this thread and see the issues you have had and make it right. I would have abandoned gigabyte long ago and joined zsamz in the "I hate gigabut" club. Honestly I would be extremely pissed off and never purchase another product from them.
I like the board and its overclockability. I just wish i could get dual channel memory going. Funny thing is, I bought this one from a member here and he said he had no issue running dual channel mode, so I have no freaking clue why it would work for him but not for me.
I have not rma'd a board. I just buy new ones form people or I flat out returned to newegg twice now.
I am going to pull all my stuff out of my case this weekend and see if I can get dual channel running. I don't know if its a grounding issue, some sort of corrupted file somewhere or what not. The last time I talked to gigabyte about the board they were very unhelpful. I posted the email conversation far back in this thread on what they said.
I like the board but I want it to work to its full capacity. maybe I need to suck it up and go for a different manufacturer, but who? i was thinking Asus but I keep reading bad things about them too now.
TO touch FSB > 500, my UD3R need Vnb = 1.600

Revised GA-EP45-UD3P -BIOS F10j
released 01.Dec 09
That didnt take long to fix the cpuz issues.
Well how about fixing S3? :D
anyone ever try F12 for UD3R ???
I want some bios updates for the T series... Go go Raymond !!
I've really hated my EP45C-UD3R....ever since I've moved from my old P5Q Deluxe I've hated pretty much every other board, but none was as bad as the EP45C! It has FSB holes all over the place and only a couple of the dividers work, and it's barely stable at pretty much any overclock.
However, I am still convinced that the Gigabyte series is worth trying so I've got myself an EP45T-UD3P. I certainly hope this works out for me as so far my 775 DDR3 adventures have been less than amazing :/
If this doesn't do it for me then I dunno what I'll do.
Well I see people with the Ep45T extreme doing 500+ fsb clocks and leeghoofd seemed to do well with the UD3P
yea it can be done but the ddr2 board is the way to go.
ddr3 and p45's arent the best match.
