Yeah, I've been having issues trying to figure out this combo of vtt/vcore/vdimm. I have the OCZ dual channel ddr3-1800 and it has max 1.95 volts. If I got in and set my memory first, like I always do, my VTT starts going up on its own. Herew's what I get:

So it seems to be moving vtt in sync with vdimm for stability? I'm getting ready to order an 1866 set and hope I can get 4GHz. I'm stuck at 3.8 right now and think maybe the high vdimm is forcing the vtt too high and is throwing vcore out of whack?
I just put in 0106 BIOS and retesting in hopes of 4GHz.

However, you had to use the triple SLI bridge for double SLI.
I think it would be useful if people post when they are having trouble with the board. Every board/CPU/memory have golden examples. The question is always what percentage is golden.
The key to this board, the only with a digital pwm VRD, would be the stability of the CPU voltage. Possibly they might have better QC then some; that is, at NewEgg and elsewhere some brands seem to have a higher percentage of DOA or users unable to get past 180-190 bclk.
I just ordered the DFI x58 board from Newegg, should be here Tues Jan 13. I'll be keeping my giga x58 ud5, so I'll be able to do a direct head to head shootout with same components, same Vcore so I'll report which board OCs better. I'll be glad to run any experiments on a request basis, just let me know.

it's so you don't kill your cpu by accidently going beyond 0.5v variance between vdimm and cpu vtt :)Quote:

@The Nemesis: How did you get turbo to work? It doesn't with my 920... initial bios. And mine seems to hate the 20x mult too so I'd really appreciate the 21x.
Ahhh thanks.. I had both EIST and C-states disabled. Do you have to use C1E or can you use different halt states, or auto?
oops its the eist that I have set to enable C-States are disabled. Just remember it takes around 1.5v+ on qpi/vtt to run memory @ddr-3 2000+

Yeah thanks... I haven't even started clocking the memory yet, trying to shoot for max stable CPU clock first.
@Jcool: im waiting for your first impressions, especially compared with the EX58 Extreme. I too have ordered a DFI. :yepp:
Hm ya... the Extreme sure was a bit easier to OC, but maybe that is because I am already used to it and know what it likes and doesn't like.
I fear I have a bad mount on the i7, as I am already reading positive load temps beyond 1,45V Vcore, which shouldn't be the case at -33C evap load temp.
One other thing I noticed with a glee of joy: DFI obviously didn't change PWM and NB mounting hole dimensions. I compared it to my X38 and it seems as though the Mips PWM freezer still fits the Volterras (78mm straight line hole distance) as well as my generic NB block (NB is 62-63mm not sure any more). I stuck to stock cooling for now because I wanted to see if it's maybe sufficient, but I guess I'll be mounting the waterblocks soon enough.
Now off to test the 21x mult.
I'll get mine DFI X58 soon , already ordered at K&M shop and just have to wait a "bit" till my firend tests 920 and mobo and sends it to Georgia

I'm sorta in the same boat, I have a giga ud5 and my first task is to get the DFI dialed in so I can do a true "apples to apples " head to head comparison between the DFI and the giga with same components. I'll use a voltmeter to insure same Vcore and do two prime runs, 1.34v and 1.45v Vcore. I'm using a Tuniq Tower 120mm w/120mm fan at 2100 RPM
for benching (900 RPM for 24/7). I have to turn off HT for benching cause heat overwhelms with HT enabled.
BTW, for what it's worth...I have tested 4 i7 920's to date. Two were from Amazon.com LLC (sold and shipped by Amazon.com as opposed to one of their 3rd party vendors).
The first of these two was very weak, could do only 3.7 Ghz or so. The second was defective in that no matter what I did, it would max out temps on all cores at 100C within a couple minutes. I sent both of them back, the point being that they both were very similar in their batch numbers and version nums (#....-002) and pack dates. I ordered a third chip and when I got it, I saw the same info as the other two bad chips and decided to send it back without opening it. Now maybe there's nothing to it, just bad luck, but I would stay away from Amazon.com LLC as a source. the two 'good' chips were version num #....-001 and were right in the ball park of expected performance. Not great like eva2000, but at least average from what I've seen on this forum. To be clear, I'm only complaining about Amazon.com LLC, not BuyNow.com, which is also a vendor on the Amazon site. One of the two 'good' chips was in fact from BuyNow.
