Ok, I'll try maybe 105 Mhz at the PCIE Frequency, but I can't understand what link it has with the BCLK or QPI? Can you clear me up on that ?
PS : can we rep people on XS forums, cause you are so helpful guys , thanks a lot

cant tell ya why, just known that it works! Def hit up slow mode too as the last resort.
Even with only 1 extra Mhz to the PCIe helped.
I'll try how much bclk I can raise with only 1 Mhz PICE, then after the second bottleneck, i'll try to raise again. Thx for your help
Cool man, Im so happy since I discover XtremeSystems...I just need to get use to the Forum...I'll be able to help soon when I finished learning the i7 Architechture on that asus...My Last rig was a Q9650 on a UD3P
Does QPI Link speed affects PC overall performance?
 Just booted up, and saw CPU speeds low, found that while the Bios 602 (or when switched to 0531) show the 21 multiplier selected .. at boot / in windows only a 20 multiplier is active on CPU..
Never happend to me before so can only guess its CPU on the way out?.. as same issue on both Bios..
Anyone seen this before? Should I expect things to get worse, or is there a remedy?
I don't think that your CPU is failing, never heard it fails that way. Could you post your settings using BIOS template?
I can post settings but to be honest, Not sure which you need and when , it does not matter what setting I use .. I still can get 21 multiplier to work..
Everything was working OK,:
21 x 210.4.41ghz. HT off 1.41 v, 1.33 QPI, 1.64, DRAM. Most others default.. had been able to LINX 1hr 4.41 and 4.55 just fine.
So tonight I was Viewing Forum, when BSOD 101 came up out of nowhere.. I little supprised as nothing under stress, then on re boot saw the low CPU speed. :
I will try to pull power... Battery etc.. (in a hope its not CPU)
Post these, if you can, just to check:

It was needed on my old board to achieve turbo state.
Sorry if I am stealing the thread - dont mean to.
I am in UK and been waiting for over 2 weeks now to get the board.
I have it reserved with OCUK & Novatech. . . they all say eta unknown.
Anyone have any other suggestions as to where I can get the board. . please.
Damn. . I got all the rest of the kit to build this beast and just need the mainboard.
Quick question: Should my mobo function if one of the ramslots seem dead? As of now I can only detect 2 of the sticks, and I have narrowed it down to ramslot A2 by trial and error. I thought I had tightened my Venomous too tight so I redid it, still no 6gb of mem detected.
finally got all the parts for my rig...
Asus Rampage 3 Extreme

CMGTX2
GTX285 or 4870x2
Antec 1200w
jsut need a few water cooling parts and will put it in a MM H2Go to start.
So it will be easy to work on,
Hoping to lite it up by monday,.....
hope it;s a good board..
new user reporting in :)
waiting for my wc block ......
my country jus too hot to overclock w/o wc ...
can any1 post bios settings for i7 920 at 4.5Ghz pls i can run 4.4Ghz at 1.36v but anything more than that bsod =/
ok all up and running , will report back soon.
before I get stuck in can somone advise of the best Crucial C300 optimizer tool for trim etc, Im a bit of an ssd noob tbh, I have updated the firmware to rev 2. and the drive is the Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s.
thank you
Hey Guys.
I want to reach 4.5 Ghz 24/7 with my i7 930
I'll have 1 HD 5850 overclock to the max
I'll use a BCLK of 215 Mhz with multiplier 21x
I want to know how much voltage should I put in the IOH and ICH, I heard that auto was a bad option
so
IOH Core: 1.31v
IOH PCIE: 1.61v
ICH Core :1.19v (auto is at 1.13v)
ICH PCIE : (auto) I dont have any PCIE x4 cards
Will that be okay?
Thanks
IOH 50'C
And ICH 45'C
IDLE ishhh
I constantly have the 0x0000003B BSOD when I try to put multi 21x with bclk of 215 mhz

and you timings are verry loose try 7-7-7 or even 6-8-6
http://valid.canardpc.com/cache/banner/1215944.png
Going to start messing with RAM now
My timings are even looser 8-8-8-20
But I was stable with that uncore at 18x with bclk of 220 Mhz (multi 12), I ran a full memtest86 with those value
I'll lower the voltage as you said, but are you sure I dont need 1.3v IOH, I'll have 2 HD 5850 overclocked soon?
But I think honestly the BSOD is caused by High temperature, I thought I had a good water cooling system. I'll try what you said, I'll give around 107 Mhz to the PCIE, I hope its gonna be enough.
I was able to stabilize 50 pass linx at 4.3 Ghz 75'C but my goal is 4.62 Ghz.
I might Lap my cpu, but do you think I should do it to my heatkiller 3.0???
Thanks for your help and I'll try everything you told me.
PS: I'm from Montréal too, the smell this morning across the city was scary...
is that a proven cpu?
you know most 920-930 wont do 4.3-4.4 you have to get real lucky to do 4.5
i think you dreamin abour 4.6;)
get 4.4 stable first i think you gonna need around 1.45v+
only a real gem of a cpu gonna do 4.4-4.6 with 1.4v;)
i'm in laval i dont get the nasty smells
ok, but I want to reach 4.62 Ghz, my CPU at 4.3 Ghz is running at 68-70'C , and with linx...I belive I can add another 200 mhz ...
careful not to kill it trying to push it too much. then again this is xtremesystems :p:
well gl lol
i just got my board the rexII was sexier:p:
coolin gonna be 2 355 pumps with double res+ mcp 320+320 thermochill+heatkiller +swiftech nb+ some nice cold air goin straight through the thermochill:D i should be below 40c while primin:yepp:
gonna do an air run till i get the copper hk in tomorow
I've swithced from the R2E and a Xeon W3520 (4.2GHz HT on with 1.288v vcore) to the R3E and a 980X (4.0GHz HT on with 1.264v) and I must admit, I don't feel any discernable difference between the R2E and the R3E in terms of overclocking. I'm sure the more extreme OCing get great results with the board though. But I sold my custom loop to go i7 in the first palce and just havent gone back to H20 yet (will in a few months). It looks like the board really shines though in pushing ram.
I am thinking I will set up the water loop on my 2x120 Feser with some San Ace love and see what I can get with my CAS 7 2000Mhz GTs. Perhpas we can bounce some ideas of each other and get things ironed out. Getting some strange behavior out of my board when I shoot for 2000Mhz on mem with air cooling.

20k at those speeds is ridiculous, tight board ftw
Really need to put this to bed guys,
now Im up and running Ive looked in the marvell controller on post, now Im more confused than before.
As we know marvell 9123 does not support raid, 9128 however, does.
see here
http://www.marvell.com/products/stor...duct_brief.pdf
well check this
http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/v...ek/marvell.jpg
no doubt what that says right ??
So why then on the support cd and on the Asus download site, they are offering driver version 9128 in the sata section and in the "others" section they offer 9123.
any one have a clue ??
cheers
Rick
What options are in the drop down under "Configure SATA as:" Does it have a RAID option? I have seen people say they have it setup as raid, so yeah this is very confusing. its almost like maybe some boards came with raid and some didnt, lol....
nope achi or ide but check this out,
I was digging around and found drive expert and it gives the option to upgrade to super speed mode, dont forget this is shown as 9123, it says plug in 2 identicall drives blah blah .... well if that aint raid then my c..ks a kipper !!! :-)
http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/v...20ek/raid1.jpg
http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/v...20ek/raid2.jpg
make of this what you will, this is raid all day long
Rick
damn I almost tempted to throw on my 2 raptors just to see what it does when I feed windows the raid drivers it shows at the Asus site. These ports should be backwards compatible to sata 2. The way the bios words this stuff it sure seems like raid to me. Please plug two drives? Why not just one? Also Super Speed, EZ Backup and Normal Modes? Hmm, looks like a translation to Super Speed = RAID 0, EZ Backup = RAID 1 and Normal = NON-raid modes in AHCI, haha....
fmsam, hey I just looked at the marvell chip on my board and it very clearly says 9128 on it.
So theres our answer.... Typo in the bios bud... Its a raid chip....
EDIT a friend says he pretty sure Normal Mode is JBOD.
rgr that
Dont make me pull out the HE 120.3/ Feser 120.3 and 120.2 with 4 DDC2's and my poratble AC unit and 10 San Aces
I would need the cone of silence for sure :ROTF:
Seriously would do it just for the photo op LOL
Still having issues with Doms doing CAS 8 and nothing else? I got CAS 7 with my GTs after messing with QPI/DRAM voltage. Hope I can get it going with 12GB but I have my worries... especially with my C0 920.
I keep getting BSOD 0x0000003B when I attempt to overclock past my 4.3 Ghz stable OC, temps are hitting 68'C as the maximum temp recorded
Do you think OC'ing and stability is only temp related ? sometimes you are fine at 4.3 at eg 1.35 while 4.4 needs a big voltage increase as you passed the sweetspot... doesn't adding more Vcore stabilise it ?
:yepp::yepp::yepp:
once i pass 4.6 i need big bump
just like my e8600 needs 1.32 for 4.5 1.38 4.6 after that needs heavy juice lol
karlitos: you have to pump in more juice like 1.44v see if stable then work to lower it
i can validate 5.0 but i cant pass withought phase cooling;)
I have 930. At 4.2 it needs 1.32 and qpi 1.31. to get 3dmark vantage pass at 4400 i need to set 1.5vcore and 1.43qpi(3dmark 06 need only 1.43vcore and 1.39 qpi).... I guess that this is an aserw to ur hoping to get 4.6... Its not immposible but u wont get 4500 at 1.4 im sure:(
I've tried up to 1.42 vcore in Bios for 4.4 Ghz and always the same BSOD
at 4.3 Ghz , Im Really rock solid stable at 1.3375vcore with 1.29375v QPI VTT
As soon as I raise by 1 mhz the base clock...this BSOD start to show 0x0000003B
This is my stable setting at 4294Mhz 50 Passes Linx, 70'c maximum temp recorded (HT On)

Have you tried lowering the UCLK freq? Try 2x DRAM at first then raise the BCLK and see if it helps
Yep, just tried it, doesnt help...always same BSOD... its getting annoying because I still have room for voltage and temperature to overclock...
The BSOD appears around the second run of linux, temps dont go over 75'C
EDIT: Do you think it might be because I only have ONE 8 pin power connector for my CPU instead fo the 2 TWO plugs on the board??
You can try with two connected but I dont think one will be a problem @ 4.3-4.4
Btw do you have vCore and QPI LLC enabled? Also adjusting PWM freq and PWR Volt helps
i pluged both in just in case lol
1 should be enough if you pluged it in right one
btw i has a set of the gskill trident mine did 1700 6-8-6-24 you should try it :yepp:
if you wanna go higher looks like you gonna have to do it withought ht;)
i'm @ 4.5 with ht 1.39 /1.34 load:p:
when i get time i'm shootin for 5.0:eek:
if i ever around your place i'll come n fix your overclock
Why not try the rams with a bit more volts 1.66 and QPI voltage to 1.35, turbo mode power limit enabled... Vcore 1.4...
Grabbed the Silver cup on my R3E and 980x. I love this board. no CB and no CBB. My temp probe stopped at -156 and she just kept on tickin. The LN2 was just sitting there boiling away. I had to push the vcore higher than i'd like but she took it without breakin a sweat.

Grats on the cup, that is a very nice 980x
Thanks. It was a nice chip on my Classified too. But this board has seemed to really unleashed its power. I think it's time to redo all the 2D runs. It should be interesting.
attah boy dukie :) and see, you wanted to frisbee that board out the window!
Anyone knows if is safe to only use the bottom 4 pin molex for Tri SLI (GTX480) or i am obligated to use both molex?
think the bottom one is for the last half of the slots, top if for the top half. Test it out and see if it works. Im sure it would be fine.
Do you think its my Ram thats making me hit a wall....everything work so fine at 204 Mhz Base Clock, I dont know why it doesn't work at 205mhz...I doubt I hit a wall
By the way I have both Vcore and QPI Load Line Calibration... What I think is one of my monitoring program or the BIOS or Windows shut down the PC after 75'C. But again, on google I saw a couple of web site saying that it could be a graphic card problem, but again I doubt because I can overclock it to the max and dont even encounter any problem (1000|1300)
And by the way guys, you can't imagine how much I appreciate your help, you are really professionnal, Thanks A LOT ;)
I'm just have start to test my new R3E + 980X
Today I updated to BIOS 0602 (from del. 0402) and with the same settings I can't even POST if I set RAM to 1600MHz
Reloaded 0402 again and there's no problem ?
(My RAM is 24GB Ripjaws 1600-9, 6 sticks á 4GB)
Does anyone know what's the plus side of using 0602 ?
U can try less IOH voltage - aroud 1.15v and increese CPU PLLv a notch and definetly bump up QPIv. In my case 1.3v is far not eanough. I run my mems at speed of 1700 9-9-9-24 and cpu 21x214 1.42v QPI 1.4v
I had the same BSOD for a while, canne mind how i fixed that but im sure by decrising some V =]
hey guys, I'm back with my problems... ;)
I tried:
- to put a second CPU 8 pin power connector and it didnt work
- Tried to lower the uncore clock
- Tried To lower QPI Link to slow mode, doesnt Help
- Add Vcore or QPI/Dram
Vcore and QPI calibration Enabled
So you think that if I lower my IOH voltage it might work? I'll have a second HD 5850 in a Week, putting more IOH (around 1.3-1.35v) voltage is suppose to work fine with Crossfire ???
I had a Q9650 and GA-Ep45-UD3P previously on the same OS, I had to buy another CD key because of too heavy hardware change
But at 4.3 Ghz its running fine, (linx Stable) 24/7
I just noticed this CPU ratio Adjuster in Turbo V...
Has it always been there ??.. I must be going senile
I don't see it on mine.
Me neither...
Maybe only shows up for unlocked multipliers only..
i picked up 3 of these:D should be unlocked
ouch they all F's?
You mean 3005F729 right? As per your pic, unless I cant read anymore ::rofl:
Oh no. Just dont have one anymore as someone offered me retail price for it so I sold it. Alot of people have 3003B fever lol
3003B ftw
I think people look into batch numbers way too much though.
3003B is good

Hello,
this morning I tested the BT function to connect a smart phone to the motherboard and read/set some overclock parameters.
It works like a charm but BT protocol doesn't request any pairing, so anyone can access my mobo if I have the BT button on the rear of the case switched ON.
Someone was able to set a custom PIN and enable the pairing between phone and mobo BT?
beautiful chip paill 53k is great! what vtt you at 1.5?
paill/Slave....as you both have rev.2.xx boards, could you just check the silkscreening above the 1st ram slot and see if that says rev 1.04G or something else.
Also, what does the little sticker under the ATX connector say....something like A01 or A02.
Maybe this can identify Rev. 2.xx boards or do ALL boards show Rev 2.xx in cpu-z ?
Many thanks
