u using maxwell instead of kerk?
Oh, sorry about that.
Yes, I switched to Maxwell a month or two back. I found the render engine to be much more mature and multitudes faster, around 5-7 times faster than Kerkythea, although you really can't compare the two since one costs money and the other doesn't.
yeah.... maxwell produces some quality renders...wish i could get my hands on a copy =\
thanks :) just wondering ^-^
Hello guys.
One from me:p:
Design on Solidworks by Emir
Rader on Maxwell by me
I need copper material :(

I'm sorry for my English.
Nice render apple :0 definitely agree on needing another copper material :P haha.... looks awesome otherwise :)
... heres mine, addition to the concept block earlier.... this time i made the polygons around the acrylic to low so some areas are rather "sharp" .... ill have fittings and mounting plate for next time :D

Looks nice eKirts, especially red orings.
Apple, try using other materials like chrome plated copper.
great work guys :) your all making my renders look like poo :(
looks great eKirts. I like it:)
I think, this material is much better.

sorry for my English.
This thread is still very quite.
I've been busy working on my case design. Here's the latest render....

I actually like this the most!!
Awesome work m8
ooo i like white :)
Just waiting on someone who can provide me some:
- Accurate measurements and some closeup shots of the chipset area so I can figure out what components need to be avoided
- As well as a photo of the EVGA 'E' LED piece from the northbridge heatsink so I can figure how to integrate that in.
I talked to Bei, who liked the current design so once I can give him a solid render of the block, production should follow sometime after that. The barb locations are still being debated as the 'neck' between the NB and SB is so small, issues with restriction starts to come into play.
My desktop with the design is currently being cleaned and rebuilt, but hopefully I can give more information sometime at the end of next week.
Mick: Love the white, very nice . Is the window tinted or is that from the HDRI environment?...
Sounds good Metric, I wish I could help you with the measurements and what not to help speed the process.
Looks fantastic in white
how can you all make the rendering so real? Did you all just render it out or do some photo shop editing? Good job you all.
Im just installing Solidworks 07 now. For the SW people, what are you using for rendering?
in related news autodesk unveiled 3dsmax 2010... im excited.. cant you tell..
i just hope they fix all the bugs from 09 and give me something new!
Hi everyone, thought that i should have case desing in my gardrobe :D
A 15 min. quick work, i'll work on this for sure if i have some free time.

I want to see the Render :(
ok this here is no rendering at all :(
dont know how to make sth like a rendering...
bu it is an 3D file..so maybe it iss accepted here too?

u need an up-to-date version of acrobat reader to have a 3D view... if u click on some of the items u can open a sidebar, where u can mount and demount parts of the waterblock :) and change light an other visual settings.
Andreoid: If you ever need some renders done of your blocks, feel free to PM me :)
Just a few more, mostly testing out some material settings and lighting

Metric, nice as always.
Metric what software are you using? Solidworks? ah I guess Maxwell.
Very nice renders though, I haven't done any since I finished graphic comm final and they aren't liquid cooling related so I can't post them.
skinnee, emir, LedHed: Thanks, your comments much appreciated
Last rendition of this block, if anyone would like to see something rendered, I'm open for suggestions on my next one.

Absolutely fantastic metric :).
Still a work in progress as far as the rendering goes. I'm sure I'll get some great advice from masters here.

Scooby:cool:
Wow, some awesome work here... I'll have to try and work on a couple of ideas of my own. Long time lurker. Infrequent poster. :P
Scooby that one looks like Benchetto 101 bench table, but quite bigger :)
emir: Great blocks, planning on getting any more of those done on the CNC?
Scooby: Nicely done (I still need to take the time and model a complete system). The colored lighting is nice, but you think you could do another render but with some standard white studio lighting - would love to see that.
Andreoid: Can't wait to see your next block :yepp:; YGPM regarding your question.
I'm just starting to get into watercooling after a long run of being a die-hard air cooling junky. Could anyone point me in the right direction or share the basic dimensions I need for mounting holes, and CPU mating surface? I'm deployed overseas right now and my bandwidth is limited (therefore random searching).
Was working in Solidworks on an interesting CPU block design and the dang thing crashed on me while trying to do a test render in Photoworks, I lost all my progress :(
Back to the drawing board...
@Malik[A], I partly got my inspiration from the Benchetto. Bigger...yes bigger, three stages bigger. I design it for an SU scratch built case competition that happened not to long ago. TY;)
@Metric, Thank my friend. Coming from you it's an honor. I will try to do some up in "white lighting" and post some images later...oops I have some but they we're very early renders. You can see more detail on these images.

Mick, stop teasing us... We want this case!
Awesome renders as usual
Mick, forgive me if this has been asked anywhere previous in the thread, but have you been able to get any companies interested in producing this case? If so, has there been any developments towards potential estimated pricing?
Afraid not so far. You can keep tabs on any progress in these two threads....

What do you think of my "water cooling" case design?

I can probably post the model file sometime next week after I finish doing the threading if anyone is interested in it.
Metric, I have a couple of questions for you about solidworks. I hope you don't mind answering. Have you done any work rendering in PhotoWorks? I can't seem to get a realistic render, but I believe it uses a version of the renderman raytracer. It could be an issue with the stock materials but I'm unsure. Also, what file format are you using to export your models into Maxwell?

@ Emir
These bloks are for which friend:D
nice chrome!
metric fantastic work :)
Hey guys,
Let me start by say that this image is in no way to represent a real waterblock it is simply something that i threw together to have a play with Maxwell. I am only new to Maxwell and I need some advice, I don't really know what information you may need to help so just tell me what you need. I created the parts and assembly in inventor 2010, imported the .iam file into 3Ds Max 2009 and exported that to a .obj file which I then opened in Maxwell 1.7.1. I have used Metric's copper render for the base which turns out alright but whatever I material I select for the top from gloss black paint to polished black metal, it always seems to come out light. If anyone has any suggestions on how to create more realistic images or a more efficient work flow please feel free to comment.
Cheers

Swiftech™ MC8800 SMC Cooling Kit

XTRMDREAM: What kind of lighting are you using for your scene? I usually add one or two floating surface planes on each side of the object and set them to 100-200 watts each in Maxwell.
Those sinks look awesome Metric, I will have to check the lighting settings out, I'll let you know. I have found when I have just opened maxwell with just the default settings the rendered image will show the background correctly but the model appears full white. You can make out the object at first but it will get lighter every pass until it is just white. I am pretty sure that it has something to do with incorrect lighting as you were suggesting. How do you apply different background like wood and stone like I have seen on this thread, I have played around with the background menu but there are only a few to choose from. I have search around on the web but I cannot find the file type that it asks for if you select an image as a backround. Is there somewhere that you guy download them from? Last question, when I select the render time it shows up as the time that I specified first starting but then drops down from say 2 hours to 20 minutes, is this correct?
Thought I'd give it a shot. I downloaded the free version of Google Sketchup. This is one of my first tries, not 100% accurate. Going to look into maybe trying some renders.
Metric, wow those sinks look so natural! I even thought that I opened WC Cooled Case Gallery thread and it is the photo :D

Damn, need new boxers again ...
Metric and Mick, why not team up and put some killer waterblocks in that awesome case? :) Just a thought as you're both HIGHLY skilled.
I think that would be a great idea as well
Next step after that we can get Charles H and Sniipe Dogg (and some of the other talented modders) to start murder modding this case as well.
Unfortunately - it would have to be renders only for now.
Everything starts with a dream :yepp:
I have noticed that with the talent that is located here at XtremeSystems that those dreams become a habit of becoming MDPC's. :yepp:
Brilliant work from you both Mick64 and Metric :clap:
It is time for your renders to find real homes in our rigs !
Mick64 would it be possible to render a white case with red highlights in the interior ? Or something similar to what you did with the black case with the white interior center chamber ?
Fantastic cases! Great job
The orange case with the black inside is a great colour combination
I Want The Inverse Atx Version So Bad! Purple And Black!!!! Naooooo :d
hey mick ur case design is SICK id love to get my hands on one!! these latest renders with the compoenents inside look simply amazing.....seriosuly its a :banana::banana::banana:ing amazing job uve done :up:
Just one little quesiton....where do u fill up the res's?? ill admit ive not seen every render of this case, so perhaps you have shown this, but im kinda intrigued as to where or how u can get to the top of the res to fill the loop?? other than that its a simply stunning design, i love it!!!:up::up::up:
^^ maybe on the other side of the case? I'm assuming of course there is only one quad on the top portion of the case
mmm possibly but i was under the impression that it was a push/pul with shrouds, thus leaving no room maybe??
Thanks exemay!
This render shows just one of many possible loop configurations. The reservoirs do not have to go in this position, but if they did, I'm sure a simple solution could be found for filling them. Fill ports could be mounted above them, you would just have to remove one or two of the fans to access them...
