OMG  with that low v-core for 4 GHz you should be able to reach 8 GHz on 1.6 :ROTF:
here we go for a new bios for this mobo: http://www.jmax-hardware.com/docman/.../download.html
Give it a try
no thanks man, it's a pleasure:up: It has been given on Jmax-Hardware and I don't have any changelog.
I tried it and it sound real similar to 0504, excepted that it increases the fsb again, 10mhz on fsb.
http://images4.hiboox.com/images/300...c2c00f0695.bmp
I'm very desappointed because it doesn't solve none of my difficulties to set fsb@500+ram@800, any strap :(
still getting dozens of D4 code:shrug::shakes:
I'm now almost sure it's a bug of my board, since no one reports the same issue.
Hoping it suits more to you guys, for now I'm so cloce to get back to Gigabyte X38T-DQ6, which is more conciliant, even if less good on clock to clock calculation and way less good for fsb.
:D Just flashed 0506 - no probs so far. One thing I noticed - memset now shows the right frequency (@ 400FSB 1:2 divider = 800MHz mem speeed).
With the 0504 BIOS it has shown a wrong value of 900MHz.......;)
:welcome:
not as good in fsb on Wolfies as Previous release at the moment, not adding anything as the 0504 did concerning AI Tweaker page^^
(not solving my D4 sh*t but as I am the only one meeting these issues :D )
Do try it your way and post please, I'm really interested

My best at 4200Mhz
I have this board and 2x2gig of the G-Skill HZ's on the way this week. Hopefully there will be some good feedback on the newest 0601 bios before next weekend. Also, is there any chance that I could run 4x2gig of the HZ's? Has anyone had any luck with 8gig in this board?
Shawn
Trying to run 4x2gb now with QX9650 and bios 0504. Ram is rated 800mhz 7-7-7-18 but anything over ~700mhz 8-8-8 wont even boot for now. First time i use 2gb sticks so its me not board most likely :D Tips are more then welcome :yepp:
Hey Murdock
If your P5E64WS Board is like my P5E3 you will not be able to run all 4 sticks at the rated speed unless you adjust the "Clock Twister Skew", on Channel A +B. I suggest trying 250ps and also raising your Row Refresh Time (fRfC or Cycle Time) do something like 60, 72, or 88 to see if that helps, you also might want to raise your NB Voltage to 1.43V as well as your DDR2 Voltage to just small amount over your rated specs. Ie 1.9 if the rating is 1.85.
Running 2 kits of the new OCZ3X16004GK for a total of 8G at the moment. I believe this kit is pretty much the same as the OCZ3P16004GK with the addition of XMP in the SPD. This is with a QX9650 at stock speed.
Definitely not plug and play! I am not even overclocking! Took me a week of constant testing to get it somewhat stable. Manually set timing of 1333/7-7-7-20, all other RAM parameters to auto. Trfc 72. DRAM Voltage 1.66V, Vnb 1.29V (any higher Vnb is unstable on my system)
Had to adjust DRAM Clock SKEW of DIMM B1/B2 to Advance 75ps.
CPU Skew to 300ps. NB Skew to 200ps.
Ai clock twister to lighter. CPU and FSB spread spectrum disabled.
Ai Transaction booster to auto.
Not great but works for me with a pair of 4850 in CF.
If anybody can clue me in to further tweaking WITHOUT raising Vnb, I am all ears......
I think I will stick with the 2x2gig kit that I have coming for now. Maybe in a few weeks, once I get it up and running stable, I'll consider picking up a second 2x2gig kit and try it out.
:D With new 0601 BIOS the "power-on-double-start-issue" disappeared......
Now the system starts @ first try after plug off the power cable or swich off the PSU. Very nice.........
So far with 0601 i can boot in windows on 600 fsb, run pi and browse the web. I think 0504 was better for my rams though
My experience with 2x2GB RAM is that it is very important to use the black slots (A2+B2) for stability! Never tried 4x2GB though. I can not get FSB 445 stable with RAM 1:2 either so it really stresses the NB to use 2x2GB+ memory. 2N may also be mandatory if you crank up the speed of the memory.
Hi,
Does some one boots on Wolfdale cpu with 6.5 coefficient ?
Hi, I have 4Gb Corsair DDR3 1800 and a QX9770 with this board. Which parameters are better to overclock the cpu to 4Ghz?
With 0601 vcore is very unstabel on my board. Does 0506 support E8600?
http://images4.hiboox.com/images/310...f32aa3f2ca.jpg
Wrong frequencies in CPU-Z 1,46(so I show 1,45 readings for it) and Everest...
My CPU is demanding too much and is too hot, accordingly
Passed 6*630 with my E8600
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=398125
I am wondering if anybody here is having similar problems with me with this board.....
When I try to suspend (S3), 6 out of 10 times, the power led will flash (indicating system in suspend) but the hard disk light will be on, PSU and fans also stays on. It this state, system will not come out of suspend unless manually turn off via holding power switch or a power off at the PSU.
If let in this state for a prolonged time, my OS hard disk will become so corrupted that I had to restore from backup. I tried this on 2 hard disks and both exhibited the same symptom so I am pretty sure it is not a hard disk problem.
Also, I have USB flash drive configured as Norton Ghost 14 boot disks and Vista x64 install disk. However, the P5E64 WS Evolution will only boot those disk if they are attached to the usb boards at the back panel. If the USB is attached to dongles via the motherboard headers, they won't be recognized as bootable. The motherboard usb headers have no problems with normal USB operations in the OS, or with USB keyboards attached in preboot (BIOS) environment so this is probably not a hardware issue either......
I am on BIOS 0601.
Many thanks.
This board seems stable so far for me below 500fsb..... although I tried to boot at 550fsb with a low multi/ram frequency, and it didn't post.... So I don't know what to think.
bios 601.
Also, is it me, or the latest OCZ mems aren't good? I mean, I tried mine pc12600 platinum 450x9 = 4050mhz with 1800mhz mem 8-8-8-24 1.90v to 1.98v, and prime fails.... But with the ratio set to 1500mhz its Ok.
What voltage should I apply to the NB, SB, PLL, FSB termination etc..... ? what about skews? what values should increase memory/fsb/cpu stability?
So far I'm stable at 473x8.5= 4000mhz with mems 1500mhz 7-7-7-24 1T 333strapping
8400 of course :D
Well, got the Evolution up and running tonight. Running 2x2gig of G-Skill DDR3-1600 and my QX9650 at 3.20 ghz (just to start with). My only complaint is the Marvell esata controller. All it does is lock my entire system up whenever I try and power on an external hard drive, then on top of that, it never sees the hard drive at all. Is there a trick to this lousy controller???
I dont think its hot plug.... If I boot the computer with a hard drive already connected it works fine
Today I started to have a play with this new ASUS motherboard, the P5E64 WS Evolution.
I have been doing some stock air testing with this today for the I34 event this weekend to see what it can do, I am not fully familiar with the board yet but it is looking very good even on stock air cooling, with just 1.45v on the core and memory running 1.1 I can get 626FSB out of this board with memory timings of 5-5-5-18, I am sure there is more to come from it yet from this M/B
It is not fully stable at this kind of FSB yet but can easy do an 8M-spi with 620fsb and 610fsb 32M-spi so a few more tweaks and it should be there.
Anyway here is a pic showing what it can do on air.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...cpuz628fsb.jpg
A little more playing and now 632fsb, but take a look at the memory timmings, WOW this M/B is very impresive, i can not wait to see what it can do with loads of LN2 on it.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0/632fsb-1.jpg
I played with the memory a bit and tried out 1T command rate. It was a no go. I got random reboots in Vista, especially when using PerfectDisk 2008 to defrag. I set it back to 2T and all is well again.
This mobo is as beautiful as difficult to handel it seems...
hey boy...take a look on my new e8500 whit the evo
http://www.pctunerup.com/up/results/...912_650fsb.JPG
nb on air cpu under ss -39°C
wow!
1,9 PLL, it was on purpose certainly. Should I try pushing this also without worries ? I'm on AIR for the NB and good WC on cpu since the start on this mobo.
strap ? BIOS 0601 ? or 0504 ? Single channel ? ...please tel ;) my autocascade is back soon
Edit: I could push it a bit futherer when rolling back to 0504 BIOS... still 1,5 vPLL http://images4.hiboox.com/images/320...7baf00c714.bmp
:P
Is this board better that P5E3 WS PRO?
So would anyone recomend this for upgrade?
It is.
But... I don't know if I'd recommend anybody to upgrade now while Nehalem launch is coming soon.
nehalem is a new socket?
New CPU "series", new sockets...
god damn it....
I just bought a new computer in 4 years
when is it being released?
Nov - Dec
http://images4.hiboox.com/images/320...5083b3465f.bmp
I've increased it's fsb from 13Mhz on the 0504 BIOS.
I was wondering about the Marvell controller:
is it possible to create a raid array using two internal sata disks with this controller, or is it mandatory to use an internal disk coupled with an external sata disk?
More over, does this controller allow enabling and disabling of AHCI feature?
Now, when accuracy is the issue, Evolution is the best. 8.00!!!!!!!!:D

Very nice dread77
Which BIOS and strap to NB did you used please ?
I guess 333mhz strap. BIOS 0504/0506/0601, but which one...(or another ? :p: )
But did you boot fsb 600 and ram 800mhz ?? I can't, I have to boot with one step below(599 fsb & 1596 ddr3) and use setfsb...
Thx
I got a better one (sub 8:up: but this is for HWbot usage :yepp:).
Bios 0504 (due to 9800GX2, nothing else seems to work properly with this card)
Strap 400 (as you can see my timings were 6-5-5-12 which is pretty tight under PL9)
And yes I boot on 600 FSB as easy as I can boot in 610. This is under cascade, I guess LN2 will make FSB issue easier, but that has to wait a couple of weeks due to vacations... Greek Islands Rule!!!!
Okidoki, thx
My mistake for the strap in deed :D
cpu on water & NB on air, my best boot is 631mhz with E8400 & E8500 on BIOS 0504 too.
My best fsb is just a bit upper in this topic. And curiously it is also the same max for both of my Wolfdales :)
Good vacations to you bro ;)
Seems like you got a mobo wall there. Anyway, there is a guy I know gets 640 under 0504. Thanks for the wishes, I promise to do my best.:D
Dread when are you coming back ?
LN2 benching gathering is awaiting ;) [ for you and your hardware :p: ]
I have a quick question on which is better. Run my G-Skill at XMP settings (400fsb, multi of 8 for 3.2ghz) or manual (333fsb, multi of 10 for 3.33ghz)? With it at XMP, the ram timings are tighter (7-7-7-18) vice (9-9-9-24), but I can run 1T with the looser timings. Which would you guys recommend? This is with the QX9650 in my sig. I know it's not much of an OC, but it's all I really want to do for now.
Guys I'm starting to think that my board is defective.
Many "indications"/"symptoms" ( which I can't verify on my own because I have only one sample here )...
The craziest "issue" is:
A crazy high voltage drop during BOOT.
Let me explain:
You set the desired CPU Voltage ( Vcore ) in BIOS and boot at any FSB under 501MHz.
The voltage stays relatively stable during the boot process, etc.
I've got around 0.005V fluctuations ( for example 1.900V to 1.905V ).
The crazyness appears as soon as I pass the 500MHz FSB mark in BIOS.
For example when booting at 525MHz with the same settings as the previous "test" at 500MHz I get a crazy drop at a specific time, the very last moment before the welcome screen appears, the time just after the loading bars stop and the screen is about to go instantly blank and back on.
At that specific point, the voltage drops from 1.902V to 1.3xxx / 1.4xxxV depending on its... mood
Anybody else having this issue ?
p.s. Tried BIOSes 0115, 0250, 0504, 0506, 0601.
Hi, I do not try such Vcores so I can't help on this, but I meet issues too, on my side. More like this(and this is not the most inconvenient one): note the difference between logs for the ram frequency readings... http://images4.hiboox.com/images/330...d45aa9c064.jpg
But on another kind of boot it doesn't happen at all: http://images4.hiboox.com/images/330...37c8640a10.jpg
I'm sorry not being able to help you and comming with some other issue here, but let it be known, this mobo is totally weird !! in some ways as weird as awsome!
Hoping both of our issues will come to a happy end.
PS: about yours, maybe the OV_CPU technic isn't mature yet ?? I wish you to get the clue of this :) Maybe ask pmp forumer directly or OPB on OCXtrem forum ??
It's not happening only at high voltages.
For example, set the BIOS to 1.5V and see your voltage going to 1.3xxV during the black screen/welcome screen process.
OV_CPU has nothing to do with that, as it happens with both the OV_CPU mod done and unmodded.
And of course OV_CPU is done the way I posted some pages back, pin 1 & 2 = enable, pin 2 & 3 = disabled ( or just don't solder anything ).
something from me :D
Settings:
Vcore: 1,4685
CPU GTL: 0,65
CPU PLL: 1,56
FSB: 1,24
Ram: 1,84
NB: 1,43
NB GTL: 0,67
SB: 1,05
LL: Normal
CPU Clock Skew: 200
NB Clock Skew: 200
@ BenchZowner, I meet the same crasy droop !!! maybe even more than yours
Remarque: I did a second time and it didn't appear this time ... I did 1.5 Vcore, 525 fsb, also 600 and same Vcore, it doesn't move finally, 3 tries. I guess it is stable for me finally, I suppose my hand moved just a bit and quitted the mesuring zone, don't see anything else right now.
I'm using two different soldered probing cables, so it's not my hand for sure :p:
Sorry man, kinda forgot to do that.
Actually "forgot" to do lots of things, had some... unwanted things happening and boredom.
I promise I'll get back to you today or tomorrow :)
I'm now running 8gig of the G-Skill DDR2-1600 (@1333 9-9-9-24 1T @1.60 volts) completely stable. Just an FYI.
is there a new BIOS arround for this mobo ?
I wish to solve my issues and who knows is there a bios that can make it ?!?
Where are the new bios?
Can someone set up a link in the first post?
Why are Asus so slow to realease new bios for Asus Evolution?

GG Dsjjang, nicely done. Could you post a 36/40GP spi1/32m screen please? (I f you have one) at any FSB you wish, just 4 or 3,6Ghz cpu.
@Nizzen:
you must know this one certainly, I don't know if there is another. http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us
I would really like to get a pre-penryn BIOS if that was possible on this mobo, just as for P5E3 WS Pro with the 0124 if I'm not wrong.
Does it at least exists for Asus Evolution ?

By doing these benches at a fixecpu frequence is good to know how a mobo behaves. Good to compare between all models.
Anyone has recent experience with Mushkin XP3 1600 memory? I pulled my eVGA 790i and bought WS EVO but still having problems with my X3360 and Q9450 both. I see G.Skill is pretty popular - I wonder if I'll have to try that next to see if I can finally come up with something stable. What series is more popular/recommended?

FSB600 3DMark06 so easy~ ;)
vnb 1.45v
vfsb 1.36v
Can anyone offer something workable to start with for a quad core Xeon X3360 and this board? I'm too frustrated... can't get anything to post/boot if I don't set everything to Auto.
Actually I had to set almost everything to non-auto, auto was not stable! That's because I have 1800 ddr3 and the bios automatically raised the fsb to 450. I can't seem to reach a stable configuration with fsb>400 though, so I had to choose a 400x10 to overclock the cpu and downclock the ram at 1600. I get 22300 points at 3dmark06 with an ati 4870x2.

I couldn't used PL8~
PL9 was perhaps limit what MB run at high fsb~
Hi Dsjjang,
all this is bery nice once again ;)
If mine wasn't so much bugged, I would have kept it:shrug:
Now I do this on a good X48 too:)

If you want to, could you do some 4Ghz Spi32m, as tight as possible ?
Yap, I aleady saw that~
Good MB, congrats~

4g 32M DDR3 2000 8-7-6-18 1T result~ :D
but my best score was when used maximus extream~
This is that~ :)
http://cfs12.blog.daum.net/original/...MNewRecord.jpg
oki :) and on Evo, your best 32m at 4ghz, do you have one to show ? Otherwise it is ok, I've seen enough with this one :(:D
Your last Spi-screen is really really good :p:
Keep pushing Dsjjang
Btw, was your NB under AIR or better cooling ?
Thx~ :D
All MB cooling was air and stock cooling with 120mm fan~
Keep pushing, too~
Did anybody noticed a change in the behaviour of this board between 579 & 580 FSB with 333 strap ?
Regarding memory bandwidth ?
Wow, this thread kind of died out lately. There hasn't been a new bios out for awhile, either. Anything new happening with this board for anyone?
I don't know if there's a newer BIOS available.
I'll ask later on today.
I'm waiting for the Rampage Extreme.
where is the performance level setting on the 601 bios? whats the name?
I don't want to use memset all the time :\
It's the "Common Performance Level" setting.
A new official BIOS 0508 is available via Asus Download support site. Has anyone tried it yet?
Does this have better compatibility with DDR3 modules?
I am running 0601 and am wondering if I should "Downgrade" to this BIOS?
Thank you mlai ;)
I will give it a try as soon asap ;) It is soooooo long that a newer BIOS didn't came out :p:
??? I just went to visit Asus's global DL site and I only saw 0506, which is already out for a while... Could you link the one you are refering to please ?
I've got my X3360 OCCT and Prime stable at 4.0G and then dropped down to 3.8 for 24/7 use. However, my games crash from time to time. Any advise will be appreciated.
