Thanks! And what about the voltages?
I thought it was the NB?
Do you think this may be why I can't seem to overclock? When I got the board I it had 1002, & I ran it with that & my X2 6000 at stock for a week or so until I got my 9950, & flashed it to 1203 before putting the 9950 in.
I know the RAM's good for at least 215 at stock voltage, as it managed that with the X2 on my old Asrock AM2NF3-VSTA, but I'm not really looking for a RAM overclock, I was hoping to be able to just up the CPU multiplier, but when I tried setting OC mode to standard & multi to 14 [all other settings left untouched] I got as far as getting into windows, but as soon as OCCT went from idle to load the whole thing rebooted.
I wish they'd mentioned that in the manual, scared the crap out of me the first time it did it!
Another thing I've seen mentioned in this thread is the issue of temps of chipset & possibly mosfets too. I'm not sure I'm willing to take the risk of water cooling just yet [still feeling rather paranoid about the idea of leaks], but I was thinking of replacing the stock heatpipe setup with 3 seperate coolers, but apparently none of the different versions of that Thermalright mosfet heatsink are compatible, nor are any others I've seen so far, except possibly for the small individual ones that you're supposed to stick on with thermal adhesive/tape. Why anyone would use that method when there are perfectly good mounting holes available is a mystery to me. <mutter... grumble... PowerColor... stupid ramsink. Grrrr!>
yeah i was considering this myself, i guess using the provided MOSFET fan might work???
also i was lookin at this online shop
http://www.petrastechshop.com/rahesp.html
i dunno if any of those would work.
maybe these?
http://www.petrastechshop.com/enmomohekit.html
i suppose u could cut the heat pipes on the mosfet and just replace the NB chip with one of those thermaltake or thermalright sinks
im running (2 x 1gb) of Corsair 1066 sticks...
if i added another set, would i run into any trouble keeping all 4 sticks running at 1066?
ive been running my spider with crucial 4x1gb @1066 @ 2.2v cpu @ 3ghz for 8 months. all temps are good dont see why it would be any different for any one else.
-----------------
cool thanks skullcracka... there is a nice deal on newegg for 2 x 1gb corsair 1066 memory for $54 - $30 MIB = $24 bucks
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145043
-------------------------------
just curios u said u have yur memory set @ 2.2v in the bios...when i open up amd overdrive or cpuz it shows only 1.8v....is it only sb750 that show correct momery voltage in amd overdrive? i noticed in other threads of sb750 mobos showing correct memory voltage
.
na im on sb600 and mine shows correct voltage for ram in cpuz and in aod.
the cpu allways seems to show sightly lower cpu voltage. like when i set cpu for 1.3 it will show as 1.28 or somethign close to that.
new 1301 bios out today. says fixed bugs for 64bit od with 4gig of ram and above. :) gona try that out as soon as i get home.
I've upgraded to that BIOS.. still stable
ok i did alot of messing with my system and i have it stable without no heat problem , i put everything back to stock seeting in the bios
Ram was @ ddr2 800 went in bios and put it to 1067 and adjust the timming to 5-5-5-15 T2 , Ram now running at DDR2 1066
Stock temps were 35c idle and 40c load
turned off CPU Tweak BEFORE i turned off CPU Tweak idle temp were 35c when i turned it off temp went to 31c
Also i enable CnQ
At 2.8 idle was 31c and load was 41c with stock volts
At 3.0 idle temp was 31c started to check for stableness and it fail this was also at stock Volt
2ND try @ 3.0 idle temps were 31c to 32c and load was 44c and this is with 1.30 Volts
3rd Try @ 3.0 idle temps were 32c to 33c and load was 48c and this is with 1.32 Volts
then i went to try for higher clock to 3.1 idle temp was 33c but stableness fail ,Test stopped
thought it could be caused by not enough Volts so i upped it to 1.35
at this time the idle temps are looking great there were at 33c to 34c but when i try to stress it at these volts the load temp went to 52c
so i think i high my limit at 3.0 with idle temps 32c to 33c and load temps are 48c with the volts @ 1.32
is there anything that i missed remind you i didnt touch nothing else like the NB or anything
SRY ALL I PUT THIS IN THE WRONG THREAD CAN A MOD DELETE THIS PLZ
:yepp:well you really do have a nice cpu there then. i can only get too 3 on vista64bit and 3.1 on xp32bit. ill see what i can get afetr the bios update tonight.
but it runs just fine @ 3ghz. hopefully deneb will be as good or better then im hoping. :)
Hmm anyone getting audio or usb issues since updating to the 1301 BIOS.
I just updated to it now, and my USB speakers are acting a bit dodgy now, so not sure if its down to USB settings or soemthing else related to Audio.
Everything was fine until I flashed the 1301 BIOS, so if it nothing changes I'll probably go back to the 1203 BIOS.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem, since flashing the 1301 BIOS...????
still have high clock of 3ghz in vista64 but i do have nb @ 2.6 :)
CPU@ 3.3 in vista with NB/HT@2600
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5858/nb26zg8.th.pnghttp://img401.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif
Well just to confirm that 1301 BIOS was the cause of my sound problems, and also affected my USB HDD performance I was getting stuttering and lagging when trying to watch media in media centre from the USB HDD.
I've gone back to BIOS 1203 now, and its solved the problems straight away...!!!
PS: 3.1Ghz on Vista 64-bit, NB @ 2400, though this is with a 9950BE, best I had with my 9850 was 3.0Ghz (though not 24/7), 2.9 was best 24/7 stable OC for my 9850.
lol im bck to 3.0 cpu and 2400 nb LOL ohwell........ hurry up phenom II
whats yur north bridge voltage settings at to reach 2600mhz?
im trying out the silly memory heatpipe thing supplied with the board. so far seems to help keep the northbridge cooler. id say temps have fallen -6 C
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3234/...78b010ee6a.jpg
also trying out the zalman 8700NT...so far seems to have higher idle temps than i previously had with my coolermaster gemini II. ah well...gonna have to switch back or find a better one
anything positive about this new bios?
I have the NB volts set @ 1.55, I also have the Memory heat pipe on also. Before I was running a Zalman 9700 worked good, Just whenI was OC@3.5 I could boot into windows but I just couldnt put any load on the CPU..Went to water,Bam Load temps are 50-52 with volts at 1.525...
Just doing some testing now with it.....
http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/5504/occt33ui9.th.pnghttp://img73.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif
hmm im gonna have problems if i order a Xigmatek or OCZ cpu cooler...because the AMD retention system is vertical which will make the cooler horizontal (air flowing to the top of the case) thats gonna bea bummer casue it will hit the memory modules...
looks like the sunbeam is my only choice
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowIm...20CPU%20Cooler
I know what you mean, thats the exact opposite of the problem I had with a M2N32-SLI mobo and the Arctic Cooling Freezer Extreme.
The mounting bracket runs horizontally on the M2N32-SLI, so the HSF was orientated the wrong way with the fan going from bottom to top instead of front to back, with the fan then directly above the Gfx card with only a couple of inches gap.
So I'm actually glad the HSF mounting bracket on the M3A32-MVP runs vertically, as it'll mean that when I replace the M2N32-SLI with the M3A32-MVP when my M3A79-T arrives, that the AC Freezer Extreme should install in the right orientation.
The M3A79-T will be water-cooled so HSF isn't an issue for that one.
cant get my HT speed to change from 2000 Mhz... even though i change the multi in the BIOS it doesn't move from 2000 Mhz?
anybody run into this problem? i updated to 1203 bios
Here's a pic of my BIOS.... IF you still cant get it to change, once loaded into windows open up AOD and move your HT Multi....
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/4...2269jx4.th.jpghttp://img241.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif
Take a look at my AOD I can change my HT Mutli slider.. but you have to make sure that you have it set in your BIOS first...
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/8...ultilv8.th.jpghttp://img241.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif
Now I have moved my HT Mutli over to what I have it enabled to the BIOS...
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/2...2400ve9.th.jpghttp://img241.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif
ah yeah i gotta set the NB freq. in the bios and than manually set it in AMD overdrive....whats a good voltage for 2.4ghz NB? 1.4?
I have mine at 3.319 right now.
Putting in WC this week for cpu.

Man,,,I cant wait untill Jan
Is that the Max on that board? Also is it Air or H20....
awesome this is great news! this mobo is has been a great investment so far.
check it out.... i made a custom bracket for this motherboard and my Xigamatek Red Scorpion S1283

New BIOS out
M3A32-MVP Deluxe BIOS 1406
Fix HDD device Boot priority will reset when change HDD device.
Fix AM2 processor may hang at the first reset if clear CMOS and load BIOS default.
Fix system performance may become low if C1E is enabled in BIOS.
Fix system can't boot from usb device.
Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx
Bios 1406 looks just like 1306 except for one new setting addition: CPU Prefetching. It is enabled by defualt. the same ram timing issue that was raised with 1301 in regards to Athlons exists:
To new to comment on anything else. First impression is I like it. Seems that the prefetching has made the rig a bit more responsive. Will see how it does in gaming a bit later. Other impressions?
hmm nice another bios. seems Asus is doing great in keeping the bios updates coming. ill try this when i get home later today. thanks Honda for the update.

I like it, more stable
why you switch to the 4850???? what you do with your toxics 3870's ?? i think you should donate them to me. :)
They were Sapphire HD 3870. had them in crossfire, guy wanted both of them and he had a Sapphire HD4850(just bought) like not even one month old, mine were like one year old. Someone told him that running CF 3870 were better then his 4850,,heheheh so I traded him mine for his plus he gave me $80.00,,heheh... just looking for another 4850....
Should of spoke up I would of just gave them to you...lol
i do get 15.5-16k in 3dmark 06 @ 3ghz with cf 3870's. stock 2.5ghz i get 12.5-13k. hmmmmmm damn free. day late dollar short. i guess nothin new for me there. LMAO
Here is my 3DMark06 with the 3870 Crossfire

now thats more like it. very nice. :)
wonder when they will add phenom IIs to the support list. probably after they are released, i just hope they support the am3 ones someday.
i wonder if bios 1406 will fix my abnormally long load time when i start windows...
seems like it sites at the windows xp logo longer than normal.
anybody else have this problem?
yeah i ran msconfig and unchecked a bunch...
im running avast so i think thats one of the reasons its slow
but its not as bad as it was.
have you tried bootvis before? the change from that program is insane. even when i felt my system startup was fully optimized it made it so i never see the windows welcome screen and shaved a large amount of time off of startup.
1406 bios. best one ever for me. :D:D
Bios 1406...NB@2600 with 1.5 volts... CPU volts in BIOS@1.5, CPUZ saying 1.488
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/3355/nb2600fy8.png
dont know if cpu-z is reading low or if its right. but i have allways notice the .02 lower volts in cpu-z then whats is set in bios.
but ya ive noticed something else slightly lowert emps at the same volts and ya can lower it about .05 an it still boot and be stable. see even lower temps then.
what i do is set it .025 higher then i want it.
just upgraded to 1406....what does cpu prefetching mean? comes enabled by default
whoa i really like the new 1406 bios! when i set HT link multi in bios, it actually changes it now when i check in cpuz!!! :-)
seems more stable also
ATI 8.12 New drivers... 3DMARK06 ....ATI 8.11 score was 13799
3DMark Score 14053 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 5261
SM 3.0 Score 6249
CPU Score 4966
Its how you tweak Phenom, when it come down to that.
Sweet clocks and nice run on Vista.. I jus tinstalled Vista32bit over the weekend and am finnaly @ 3.52mhz.. thats max for my Phenom...Vista was a little harder to tweak for the same clocks i had with XP32Sp3.
Now i just need to tweak my GTX260/216..So far my old 3970x2 runs 1000points higher @ 17700 vs GTX260 @ 16699..I just need to clock it and tweak the nvidia cpanel i guess..
Besides that nice
getting that CPU score up there:yepp:
P.s. That watercooling working nice for ya eH:up:
That MVP is working sweet i see.
Trying to get that CPU up there without having to upgrade the mobo..lol...The BIOS for the board 1406, WOW, alot better and more stable at the higher clocks. Just waiting for my 2nd Sapphire HD 4850 to show up, then just might loop them.......And YES the water setup is working just fine, load temps most of the time are 50-53@1.55v. Thanks for your info back then...Need anything for your help again? :yepp:
Gotta be something new out there..hehe
Just going to hold out for the new Phenom II and install it on this board..
so what are people's experiences with enabling C1E support? im not sure if it does anything for me.
Phenom 9850@3.4...NB@2600 Ram@1066
sigh just installed the new ati driver and once again nothing. i don't think i am doing anything wrong but i have never once had a driver improve my performance. i have seen 3d mark only go up with new cards.
1406 BIOS stable at 3.3 in Vista 64.. Thanks to gOtVotage runs nice and cool :D
http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/5202/tempsgz7.png
its kinda like cool and quiet, reduces power state...i didnt read the whole article

Still tweaking this Phenom on this board.. I know its rejected..
Phenom 9850 @ 3.7

Im like'n this new bios for the board 1406
well honda guy keeps whipping out amazing results. either hes an amazing overclocker or he got the best phenom ever made. or both.
how did the M2N OC in comparison?
 the last half year i still have the prob
with all bios versions with my temps all below 45C
when i use 2.2volts on the mem it locks up after time
i can overclock my processor np
but my 4 sticks 8gb total of crucial trazers 800mhz with epp of 5-5-5-15 at 1000mhz at 2.2 volts
(they have not yet been over the 2.2 volts ever)
dont wat to run at that speed for long
no diverance between 2 or 4 sticks
my 4 gb corsairs 1066mhz 5-5-5-15 at 2.1 volt run np
but i have slower benches with that ungaged mode compared with the gaged mode running on 800mhz
still dont get it
i have a coolermaster 1000watts psu and a phenom 9950be at 15 multi and 2 3870's in crossfire 3 hdd's and 1 dvd burner
(for info on the watts pulled)
cant get them stable
the mem is okay becouse of the memtestst i did over and over again even at 1000mhz np until shutdown with 2.2volts np found if not shutdown by the lockup :confused::confused::confused:
the phenom can't run 4 sticks of ram at speeds over 800 mhz without loosening the timings. also you should be able to change the unganged/ganged mode in the bios. unganged splits the memory controller into 2 64 bit controllers and it is better for multithreaded apps. ganged uses one 128bit controller and it is better for single threaded. so if you are running single threaded benchmarks like super pi you should get better results with ganged mode.
the problem is that even with 2 sticks at 5-5-5-15 at 800 (epp is with 2 sticks 4-4-4-12 at 800)
it lockes up somehow my board hates crucials (2 gb sticks)
thats with 2.2 volts like they should run at
if i undervolt the stick run longer like a week but then still lockup
i just recently install 2 x 1 gb corsair 1066 sticks...so now i have 4 x 1gb running at 1066...its running stable at 5-5-5-15 timings
make sure u set dram voltage at 2.1V or 2.2V and gotta up the NB volts to 1.35+ for stablility....my cpu is at 3.1
no clue its just that many people say they can run 4 sticks at 1066 but amd has stated that this is not possible and i don't think the memory controller can handle it. im guessing that 2 sticks are running at 1066 and two would be running at 800 but it reads the ram speed out as 1066. i believe in another thread tony said it was possible to run 4 sticks at 1066 but he loosened all the timings up a lot.
Running X2 Dual core yes they dont see the 1066, but running Phenom's they should be able to see the 1066...... I have tracers PC2-8500 in mine and running @1066 with timings 5-5-5-15, so far so good......
yea it doesn't work on dual cores but on phenoms amd has said that the memory controller can only handle one stick of 1066 in each channel. i believe there was even a bios update in the past for this that slowed down the speed of a stick if there was two sticks of 1066 in the same channel. ahhh yes bios 1202:
1202 BIOS for M3A32-MVP Deluxe/Wifi-AP
1.Enhance memory compatibility.
2.Down speed from 1066 to 800Mhz if there are two 1066 dimm in one channel.
no problem with 4 sticks here @ 1066 and higher. on any bios put out so far to date.
roofsniper i think it is mobo dependent...
