That almost doesn't look right. It's not as if 4096 is a small resolution shadow map so I'm surprised to see it so blocky.

GTX 580 gets substantial price cut
http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/26...tial-price-cut
A sign of things to come.
"If it's too good to be true, it probably is...." definitely applies here I think. Heck, when was the last time we were surprised on both counts? The 4870 and prior to that, the G92?
Sadly the trend since then has been Nvidia keeping prices where they are, and AMD slowly increasing price again as well to now where they're back in the old price ranges :(
 Damnit!

People are hunting down my unicorns...!! Fluffy, NOOOOOOOO! :p:
Is it today march 12, what's up , nothing.. nada.. nada. What a big lie
It's not a lie if it was a rumour, sadly this doesn't help me.
Personally my biggest fear is CUDA/GPGPU is nerfed in this chip and it's not until the GK110 we'll see that grunt - buying it as a card for CUDA work and this is a concern.
I had it in my head that reviews/ paper launch were coming out today as well....

As an employee of one big pc retail company i've had a chance to see evga mini presentation of GTX 680 2 days ago. According to evga rep GTX 680 will launch on march 22nd, it packs 1536 cores, 2gb DDR5, it will have two 6-pin pci power connectors and TDP of 190w, MSRP is $550. He also said that gtx 560ti /570 /580 will get price cuts up to $50. And that GTX 570 wont get replaced until late may. The guy was super excited.

The price is right. MSRP of $ 549 to be precise - Ailuros 3DCenter
$550 would be epic fail... unfortunately not entirely unexpected
A MSRP of $550 would indicate Nvidia have some confidence in Kepler's abilites like the rumours have been suggesting. That said, if this was infact meant to be their mid range part this won't bode well for GK110 in respect to price... 8800 Ultra Redux anyone? *insert over 9000 comment here*
It just better have some balls if thats what they are asking, I paid 'considerablly' less for my 580 at launch...
I guess I was/am hoping that 2gb. vs. 3gb as well as a smaller 28nm die compared to Tahiti would lead nvidia to price at 400-450 in a effort to drive value even if the 680 outperformed 7970.
Well, GTX680 is going to be faster than HD7970, otherwise NV wouldn't set the MSRP to $549 (yes, that's the real one). But how much and what about very high resolutions is the question.
I'd be happy just knowing a launch date at this point... the rumors go every which way every other second right now. A few common grains are amongst them, but who knows...?
