my new air set up :up:
The best buy rocketfish weighed a lot less and proved easier to bring to LAN's. But it just didn't cool or dampen the noise like my old stacker w/ dirt bike tubes used for the suspending the drives. It also had a single exhaust and less ventilation up front. It might be old, scratched, dinged, and heavy, but I love my stacker! :up:

@Krame Now that's a beautiful case dude.
Amazing :clap:
great ;)
Krame: awesomely clean, very nice job.
It has been a while since I've been on air, so I figured I'd so off what I have currently.
Going to replace it in a week or so once I get my Killcoils from PetrasTechShop.

SimpleTECH, could you please post a pic of the front with the fan controller? is it the basic version or the ACE version? thanks! :up:
It's the Scythe 'KAZE MASTER' 5.25" bay fan controller.
They released a newer version as well. But I still prefer the one I have currently, little more chic.
hey my friend..I did'nt know they came out with a newer vrsion?
I recently replace mine with new 1 cause fan controller #1 went out
completely it went blank nothing after about 10 months or so..i went
to mirco center and bought 1 returned the bad one as warranty return
in the same box and got my money back:yepp:

evil-98 what cooler is on your graphics card?
It looks kind of like a scythe mushashi/ arctic cooling xtreme.
Hey jdmR, why would you put the Ultra Kaze as the exhaust instead of on the CPU? Usually 38MM thick fans have higher static pressure, so wouldn't it be better on the CPU?
after trying different set ups for the airflow across the cpu hs, i found that theres still a good enough amount of airflow with the way it is set now: intake-ultra kaze hsfan-xigmatek exhaust-ultra kaze. keep in mind that this is a direct air flow. i was also keeping aesthetics in mind as well as performance. i'll be aiming for a moderate 4.2 ghz on a e8400 so im hoping the temps will be fine
I can't get enough biosscreens:D

@rene19831
Awesome set up :up:
@Tommy_Hewitt
I'm looking forward to your review.
will you be testing them passive?
Surely =)
I can't wait either :cool:
Auras Fridge ;)
Blah another not in USA item and it looks like their main site is down :(

I keep getting a network timeout
So your results would be based on ATi HD 4850 (1gb I assume)? Talk about luck, I'm planing to purchase one for my Htpc.
Now I'm really impatient with results :p:
@evil-98: what case will that go in?
My modest Rig.

Can fan be changed on that heatsink?
It's possible, but not very easy.
funkflix, what case is that? i like it :up:
wow that Scythe looks HUGE!
@pcaddict its an ebm-papst.... what kind i don't know, but i can say he's full of metall and is really strong:D But don' put your fingers in there:frag:
The Orochi is one of the best coolers i know. Peoples's who means that he is only good as passiv or low-flow, i can say no:D Never mind, low or high, he's the best performance i know:D And cooling with him makes a lot of fun:surf:
Nice Meth!
nice setup there jdmR, but whats with having no graphics card? :p:
Graphics are for noobs...

Upgraded the GPU cooler last week. Please forgive the fun with photoshop. After cropping my dirty workshop it needed a background and I got a little carried away.

Haah, awesome.
hokiealumnus, can I know what make and/or model the fan(s) are on your CPU and GPU. Thnx.
I know, I like normal black fans (w/ huge motors more so), lol.
Hi guys, I updated my mother board and graphics card.

nice pics gr33n
The GPU was a luck find at microcenter. Looked in their bin-o-fans and saw a .45A 120x25mm fan for $4.99. Got it and I'm very pleased. Totally forgot the brand name though and getting it off requires shutting down, sorry. If it were a big name, I'd know it, so probably something neither of us have heard of. It does ~2,550RPM and is about as loud as the big fan, just higher pitched.
The CPU fan is a Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000RPM. It's a piece of crap. From a previous rant:Any high speed performance fans I get in the future will all be Panaflo. Scythe may make other good fans, but I'll never know because of my experience with their Ultra junk.Quote:
I have a Panaflo FBA12G12U (.65A, 2950RPM, 119CFM) that has been going at 85% of full speed or higher for over a year and hasn't given any indication of having a problem.
Cut to last fall. I got two Ultra Kaze's because, hey, they're cheap. Would have been much better served getting ONE additional Panaflo. Not one, but both Kaze's have started making a horrible clicking noise. Except for benching sessions, they didn't run more than 80% of full speed and less than two months each. Won't ever make that mistake again.
I too like black fans. They don't make pretty LED fans that do what I need to...scream like the dickens and move a lot of air. I can make the system look just fine (IMHO) without LED fans. :up:
GR33N, i see your hitting the slops eh? thanks to the snow we've been getting here, Ive been able to carve the slopes too! sweet rig BTW
This is my main rig. (Specs in sig.)

Bit off-topic post I know:Sorry for the late reply. No need to shutdown your PC, the size and power tells me something about that GPU fan. Hmm, so I definitely won't think of getting an Ultra Kaze. SVC has a low-speed Panaflo 120x38mm for about $9, OOS atm though. Sometime I'm going to splurge and get a few L1 Panaflos, maybe run a fan controller to keep DB's in check, or just quieter than my GPU, which is easy.
Thnx for the info.
Yeah, we can make PC's look "good" w/o LED's. :D. In other news, the stock GTX 260 cooler is awesome, 60% fanspeed while gaming doesn't get past 70C in CoD w/ 8xAA+16xAF. :up:.
I'd post a pic of my rig but photobucket is doing maintenance, my apologies ofr not having my rig pics on my HDD at this time.
Edit: joker, how's that Accelero doing for you? :D.
Edit 2: This was my rig 1/2 a year ago.

haha I tried to clean it off, but taking it out is out of the question, this is a :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: to get out.
Kimyy, I'm really curious about your not too high-end GPU setup w/ the rest of the PC and some other things "high-end".
Personally I'd pay $300 max for a GPU then $100-150 for a mobo.
Here is mine, an air-cooled Murdermod.

Nice job.
Seems those 9600's in SLI are comparable to a GTX 260 or even a little better @ 16x10 res(if AA/AF is not max'd). Rock on. :up:.
