LOL, sorry. I dumped this board to go back to my X38. It's nice and all, but too finicky with RAM and it doesn't like to stay stable for long.

I might do the same......
Ic you mention the same memory i'm running now at 495mhz oc'd it takes me 2.0v to run with the mutli at 2.40 at 991mhz by on my gig board it's +0.3 added on volts..in the bios. I just setting my timing at 5-5-5-15 as corsair dominator 1066to see how it would run..this Corsair XMS2 is some Great sticks
:yepp: and never let me down..I'm only running at 3.3ghz same as a stock
E8600 and that's find for me..at 1.312v bios set at 1.350 had a vdrop like all gig boards do:yepp:

So whats the latest non-modded BIOS for this board? I see P45AA710.BSP on their website, but are there any newer betas?
There actually is one; Biostar sent it to one of our guys at The Raptor Pit (Lvcoyote, who posted a bit earlier in this thread) when he emailed them about the stupid Marvel RAID message and a couple other things. Not sure if it fixed anything but allowing you to turn the IDE controller off. I uploaded it to mediafire if you care to try it. Here's the link.
mine caught on fire, when it gets back from RMA I'll already have a new board, this was a complete waste of my time.
I finaly got it to boot at 3.6 but it wanted 1.52 volts to do it.. i have air cooling so it was approaching 70C within 3 min of prime so i cut it off.. i setteled for 3.35 but for some reason my Vantage lost 1500 points..
anyone with a pentium D 925 can try it on this board? can this be supported?
Hi,
I have the HP version of this board du eot budget, (the other was almost £30 more)
And I have got the my e8200 to 3.6, on around 1.288 volts, and with 2gb of OCZ Platinum RAM PC6400 running at 900mhz, ( the min I can get it to run at), and the DDR2 voltage at around 2.17 or so.....
However, I cannot get any higher, and I suspect it due to the RAM, I want an FSB of 500, to get 4GHz, however, this would mean that the RAM would be at 1000, 200 higher than stock, surely I can change the FSB/RAM divider somewhere?
Thanks a lot
Unfortunately George, you can't do less than a 1:1 FSB : DRAM ratio on this board (or, unless I'm mistaken, any P45 board). Your only option to get to 500 is faster RAM or figure out how to get yours to DDR2-1000. In case you need one person's reference, I had Platinum Rev.2 for a while on a P35 chipset board. The max I could get stable was DDR2-980 (with 2.2v & 5-5-5-15-42-2T timings) and max boot was ~DDR2-990.
well when my board returns from rma I will be selling it the same day, just so everyone knows....**cough,cough, pm me if your interested,**cough, cough
those rma boards are used and refurbs man.. good luck getting much out of it
Well, some progress, I got the CPU to 4GHz, with 1.280v on cpu, 2.126v for the RAM, (running at 1000, 5,5,5,15), and around 1.3 or just under for FSB/NB
However, i cant get into windows any higher than 500 FSB, no matter what volts I increase...., I can get it to post easy peasy, but never into windows..... :(
Thanks for any advice
How does this board overclock memory compared to the Gigabyte UD3 series? Anyone able to break 1500MHz yet :D What kind of speeds are you running your RAM @ for 24/7 use?
It hasn't done so well with my G.Skill but that could very well be the sticks. From what I read, G.Skill are very tightly binned, plus 2Gb sticks aren't so great at overclocking. They'll get to 550MHz but no more so far. Still playing though.
Re: 24/7 - Initially I was running 534MHz 24/7 (445 x 9 on the CPU, 1:1.2 ratio), but I've moved up on the CPU and down on the RAM; 500 x 8.5, 1:1.
hey man i dont care how well it performs I'm selling it! I dont really care for the crap ass voltage settings anyway i'm stable with less volts on my new boad mainly because there is an option for less, the voltage stepping sux ass on this board, good luck guys you'll need it.
Hi guys, can anyone help me? Im having really really bad times with this board, actually, the worst experience ever with mothers. The thing is that, I cant even move 1 mhz up of my E8500 and the board will never boot up again, telling me the post screen with a really annoying 81 code, wich actually is a problem with keyboards but, I done several clear cmos, removing the battery, changing over 20 keyboards, I have no idea how to make it work up. The first day I make it work after doing the same things but, today I cant make it work, and I do the same things.
Obviusly Im sending it to the warranty, but I cant believe that this board will do me this, not even 1, yes 1 mhz for the cpu up that will start with problems... If someone have a good solution please tell me, I have been waiting for 2 months without my computer for the stupid vga, now again? Come on God, are you kidding me? So please, if you have a solution before I take this bunch of wasted money to the rma, please tell me :P
Thanks for all!
i think the problems with this board is inherit to it's 4 phase power design.. it took 1.48 vcore just to hit 3.4 Ghz for me.. it wanted 1.54 for 3.6Ghz Stable but it ran my chip way to hot for me..
Ive had no problems with volts, I only need 1.28 to get into windows at 4GHz, on a 1.25v e8200, (stock), so, for me its defo not a problem, however, I still cant get over 4 GHz, probs coz im pushing my 800mhz RAM over 1000mhz, :)
Although, maybe I need to put quite a bit more volts through the cpu, hmmmmm
Any advice would be great
My advice? Get some new RAM :)
Why that RAM, I could go for the same speed for less, or surely go for something faster, like this?
