Machinus how are you mate, from what i see you have my same vid of chip wich is great CPU Vcore [ 1.1875 ].
try to drop vtt to 1,20 and see that CPU ref is .785 and MCH .80, then up it and this values will change auto, for lots of us this worked perfect so for me tom and zucker2k...
start on a normal OC, like 445x9 ti try your CPU and MEM on 1:1 CL5 all auto, PL9 and trfc 68 (you have 2x2GB ???? wich RAM), try to find FIRST as stable point where you can start upping, dont start messing around with values and changing all at time and multis etc...go step by step or you will go crazy.
Use 800/800/0/50 or 900/900/0/50, i use 1000/1000/0/0 to 4800+ to bench the rest are for my 24/7
i will send you a template of my 445x9 and 500x8 so you have a start point, should work for ya as owr quads are close.
Cheers

I caught the x58 fever and wanted to familiarize myself with the architecture, so I sold my UD3P+Q9650+8GB G.Skill Pis and upgraded without spending a penny more.
This was my result:
http://www.hostthenpost.org/uploads/...19dbac2416.jpg
But then I started getting withdrawals from moving away from s775  so I decided to build a cheapo rig and satisfy my appetite for overclocking on this platform.
I had the choice of picking another Q9650, but there were many horror stories in this thread about lack-lustre 9650s with 1.300 vids, while the 9550s seem to show relatively better results. I decided to go as cheap as possible while pushing the clocks as much as my air-cooler would allow for 24/7. I still haven't finished putting parts together; I need better ram and psu, but this is what I've done so far. Oh, this chip also happens to be my best s775 chip do date.

Very nice Zucker.
Ah! I made a mistake :( I copied the template with the wrong VID! Mine is a terrible 1.3v :(
I will lower the clock to 900/900/0/50.
Even at 1:1 and higher mch/ref the board doesn't seem to go over 500 despite having temps always 65 and below.
So I should start atvcore 1.3125 and put everything on auto and just try to increase clock with 9x multi? It is very unstable at 9x with 400 and over unfortunately.
I guess I got a bad chip.

Hey Zuc nice to see you're back in town! Those are amazing results on the Q9550 and what really cough my eyes is the fact that those Q9550 don't give up after 70oC when most of the Q9650 bugs out after 63oC
Might get one of those to play with on the other rig, thanks for sharing.
Got the EP45 DQ6 installed, after some head scratching I am running some small fft's at 4500mhz. The dates are screwed up in prime because it fudged up after my last try and 4500 when it bsod'd. The temps seem to be much lower than with before on my other board. Don't know why they would be any lower, same chip.
EDIT: Had to go up a notch on vcore. The board has 2 CPU Ref's and 1 MCH Ref, the values are different and has thrown a curve in my ocing. I left CPU Ref's at default .760 ref1 and .80 ref2 and went up 2 notches on MCH ref, seems to be working so far. I tried to leave at default but failed instantly. The skew doesn't work the same for 4500mhz either as on the UD3P. I went with Napalms 1000/1000/0/0, running blend now, for 4400 it was blending fine at 800/800/0/50.

I've finally found a q9650 thread!!! Great!
I've got a water cooled q9650 on a P5Q Deluxe with 1066Mhz DDR2 - im hoping for 4.25Ghz - thats 9*470 - about!
U all recon this is possible? I hope so!!! - Stock speeds - my 9650 idles at 28c and loads after a couple of hours P95 at 38c - so ive plenty of room for a higher Vcore!!!
Any advice??
Sould be possible mate, start off with 400FSB , get to know ya CPU (what it likes regarding FSB term , PLL volts) , 450 is a no brainer on P45 (normally) and even 500FSB is doable on the P5Q Dlx but be prepared to pump over 1.35FSB term voltages... and you will need to get off the 1:1 Divider ( so good high speed rams are a must )
now I have a new baby! :) my 9550 E0 FPO L922B951 VID 1.1125V:clap:
today finishing testing and results is :

I belive,4Ghz too izzi for this chip, but my mobo is not good for quad 45nm.
465 FSB is good result, and it not a limit, but I dont want raising too much volt fot NB.
BTW, what temp is critical for NB? now I have 64'C at peak load, is this good or not?
Temps for chip is not more, than 79'C at LinX,Prime95 at 65-67

82516 Is Not Low? For 4600Mhz CPU Frq And 1300Mhz Ram???
Any Sugesstion?
How are you ViViD i got 87k with the quad at 4500 and the GTX285 at stock clocks mines are 729/1674/2800, didnt tried to OC more cause i have a problem with XP that wont lent me use High CPU OC + High Clocks on VGA, just could do some benches on 3DM06 but on W7 i can do whatever i want.
Cheers
Sergio
Score is low mate for them clocks, should be more in the 89K region. Tried another driver ? thermal throttling ?
I'm Use 9.6 Catalyst
And Temp Are Be Fine I Thinck:D Beacause Use 900/1000 For AquaMark And Got 265K Score
You Say Win7 Is Better For Me? Any Benching Is Run Well 3D 06 Run And 27K Easy For Me:D But 01 Is Too Low:down:
Got mine over 4.7Ghz with this Gigabyte-EP45C-UD3R
http://img.techpowerup.org/090812/oc.jpg
Got my chip just now. I'm going to run IBT for a few tests and post back.
The first set of tests will see how far I can push her on stock volts.... 1.15v core (yay!)
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/8827/img0132s.jpg
Suprisingly enough, it seems as if I have no stuck sensors. I was expecting one at least.
I updated yesterday to bew F10f bios...seems that they loose some timmings it left me do this at tigh memory timmings on lower volts, the same on bios F10b (tough it scores more latencie on mem) does not run not even minutes...
x8,5 and x8 + tight mem timmings and speed has been always a no go on my system...yes on 9 multi but this seems good...7+ hours blend all nite

Ok, first round of tests are complete.
I am running windows vista x64 until 7 is fully released. This is mainly because I want to be able to play bf2142 on this machine.
I set the voltages to stock in the bios for all values.
For all these tests volts were as follows:
PLL 1.50
CPU term 1.20
CPU ref 0.760
Vcore 1.15000
dram v 2.08
dram term Auto
dram chA Auto
dram chB Auto
MCH v 1.20
MCH dram Auto
MCH ref 0.760
ICH IO 1.50
ICH v 1.10
I ran the standard 5 runs of Intel Burn test v2.3 using "maximum" for the memory setting.
It failed by way of BSOD at 445x9 so I backed it down to a maximum of 439x9 for a speed of 3951mhz.
Here are my runs leading to that maximum.
333x9 for 3000mhz
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/265...stockvolts.jpg
400x9 for 3600mhz
http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/340...stockvolts.jpg
412x9 for 3700mhz
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/7716/...stockvolts.jpg
423x9 for 3800mhz
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/9313/...stockvolts.jpg
434x9 for 3900mhz
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/156...stockvolts.jpg
And finally 439x9 for 3950mhz
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/892...stockvolts.jpg
I'll go one size up on the pics next time.
Next round of tests will see how low of volts it'll do for 4000mhz-4400mhz.
Just got three more runs in. 4005mhz, 4104mhz, and 4203mhz. All IBT stable.
Voltages are on the screen shots.
I'll be running prime eventually, I'm just too excited to stop and wait that long.

nkresho...so are sick results, very nice job.
It's getting more dificult to keep the volts as low.
Here's 4302mhz @ 1.275v bios / 1.248v cpu-Z
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/8...zibtstable.jpg
Thanks! I will start blending tonight. I'm going to start back at the beginning at 4005mhz and work my way up with the blends.
Very nice nkresho.
Very nice run Sergio.
My 9550 4400mhz blend. Still running, will try and get stable.
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4053/...blendover2.png
OK sergio, another oc for you to try my friend. Prime blend 14hours q9550 EP45-DQ6 board. I know this is not the q9550 thread but we have been testing this chip and board with Sergio's q9650/UD3P and my other q9650 using the 8.5 multi and same load vcore. No LLC on this board so idle vcore is higher.
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/148...ndq9550pas.png
Wow, that's a really awesome 9550 there. Most people will never see that type of speed from a 9650.
I'm still working on my first blend at 4005mhz. It's looking like I'm going to get by with 1.136v. More to come.
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/920...imeblend3h.jpg
Thanks nkresho.
WOW!!!! That is probably the best 4.0ghz vcore I have seen on any q9650. Congrats on that chip.
Hey guys
Im experimenting the world of 8,5multi on my quad and there certain issues that bios after bios repeat, for ex look at this one
4352 (512x8,5 ) 7h+ blend
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/1430/captura6h.png
I used for 1.20VTT .785cpu ref and .80mch (relation) ref BUT when i reboot PC turns off and on again and when i enter bios gives me the red Screen saying OC failed bla bla...
So i did some test and used 1.20VTT .785cpu ref and .84mch (relation) ref and problem solved....
But sometimes it happens that i have to load optimized defaults and re load the OC profile ass prime will fail. I know that the giga has some problems on stored profiles, got to load 2 times or it will leave the divider on AUTO...but for all above not any trouble on x9 multi.
Cheers Sergio
Oh btw F10f bios on post with ALT + F12 lets you get rid of F10e backup
bios, it will flash current version to the backup (Thanks to OC NUB and KHIMO for the solution :up::up:)
Yes I understand completely. Spent around 5 months trying with no success to reach 4.4ghz with 2 chips, thinking the whole time it was me that was the problem and not the CPU.
Again Congrats, will be looking forward to seeing your posts with this awesome chip.
Thanks you Sergio.
Pushing harder now, running blend at 4450mhz.
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/5...end1hr4450.png
Ok, here's what I have so far. I primed at 4203 this morning and got it stable for a 4 hour screen shot.
I came back around the 5 hour mark to take another and found an empty desktop with the little "your computer has recovered from a ...blah blah... message"
http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/170...imeblend4h.jpg
Looking at the cores, I bet it's a gtlref issue as 0 and 2 are off by the same number of tests as 1 and 3...
Am I correct in saying that the cpu ref is 0.797 divided by 1.22 = 65.33% and the nb reference is 0.812 divided by 1.260 = 64.44% I was used to my asus where ther is a ref for 0/2 and anotehr for 1/3??? So IIRC, theres a single gtl ref for the fsb and another single gtl ref for the nb????
Still working on getting this speed blend stable before I go on to the big time... 4400, 4500 beyond. lol
I'll probably do a remount tomorrow as well, as core 1 is always 3-4c higher than the others, which are all within 1-2c of eachother. Might be a bug too.
My second rad (mcr220) comes tomorrow and I have the whole day off, so I'll post more when I have it. I'll try to make a mini worklog thingy for adding a 120x2 to the bottom of a cosmos-s, I'll put it in the water section. If I get ambitious, i might even do a before-after temp comparison of some IBT runs. We'll see though, rad is coming UPS and that guy usually taked until 5pm to get me my stuff.
^^^ Your chip, sir, is simply an engineering feat. Take good care of that chip. Absolutely incredible!
I agree with Zucker2k, that is a great chip. Best I have seen.
^Thanks guys. It is a golden one, I agree. I'm really happy with my results so far. I'll try to keep impressing you, I promise.
And... yeah... I'll do my best to keep her under 65c... Priming anyway. Glad it's almost winter.
No, it's "The One." A real devil of a chip.... scratch that, the "devil chip." :ROTF:
Anyway, the 9550s are clocking so well that I truly expected the 9650s to perform way better with the latter batches. It seems you really got lucky with your chip, a true gem.
You have to increase the CPU Voltage.
I've got the same problem with my chip perfect stable for 100 passes in LinX but I can't pass Prime95 for 8 hours. Increasing the CPU Voltage makes it stable and I don't have these MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION BSOD anymore.
The only explanation I've got so far for this behaviour is that with lower CPU Voltage you can't give your CPU the amount of watts it need to run stable for several hours.
That's what I think is the problem.
I'm taking it slow with this OC as I'm terrified of destroying the bios! Due to bad experianced with 4 previous 680i chipset boards and my old E8500!!! Loads of RMA's!! And about 6 weeks! Anyways - I booted at 360*9 with vcore at 1.185 (VID 1.175v) I booted fine and passed 30mins OCCT test - then i restarted to raise FSB and it wouldnt post! I thought I'd ruined the BIOS, and would have to RMA as the dual bios (on my P5Q Deluxe) wasn't working! Anyhow - I read in the manual that I could hold down "delete" upon turning the system on to restore the BIOS and it worked:) I was soooo happy - why did it do this at only 360?? I'm after a 475Mhz FSB for 4.25Ghz - which is realistic - Any of you know why It didnt post after rebooting on 360Mhz??
thanks
L847C144 VID:1.125 , this moment , linx-ing 3200@1volt (I dont need to rape it from start.. :P) , but having relatively high temps (despite my Ultra 120X) ,~ 48-52 C , im hoping for 3.6@24/7 1.1v or less.. if possible
^ I wish you luck. I'm really happy with my L837c. You beat my vid too.
thnx man, and i was worried when i saw pack date in the box 7/8/09 and the cpu 847.What cooling u use? air or wc?
EDIT: pardon my blindness :p , i just read above u use WC
Same for my 9550, can pass LinX with 1.29vcore-500x8.5 but needs 1.312v to pass a long prime blend run.
nkresho: I am curious to see your temps once you get up to 4400mhz and above. At that point I cannot run LinX/IBT anymore and have to stick with blend due to temps, the vid is 1.175v for my L847C037 9650. The second rad should help a lot, keep posting.
I'l keep you guys informed, don't worry.
I'm 5 hours in at 4200 and it's doing fine. And yes, I did have to add a voltage bump over IBT. I'm up to 1.216v in cpuz, from 1.200.
I'll take a screen shot if she makes it to 8, then I'm off to the land of 4300.
could you take a screen shot like above only using a new version of CPUZ instead of v1.45?
