Been reading thru this thread as I am planning a q9650 buy. Got a ep45-ud3p buying some g.skill 1100 now. I am just to about to page30 and am reading thoroughly trying to understand the oveclocking and the relationship of settings as they help or hinder sucess. My big question now is what batches have you seen that are most reponsive to overclocking. there seems also to be A B and C codes in the batch numer are they significant ? Meaning A's on average clock better Than B's ? Any help in this regard to help me try to get a good batch will be appreciated. thanks
Does anyone know what some of the good batches are for the 9650, are later weeks OCing better or earlier?
Sorry if this has already been asked in this thread.
as far as the letters A,B,C means that what (lot)
Example: L149A463-0726
1st letter or digit = plant code (Malay)
0 = San Jose, Costa Rica
1 = Cavite, Philippines
3 = .............., Costa Rica
6 = Chandler, Arizona
7 = .........., Philippines
8 = Leixlip, Ireland
9 = Penang, Malaysia
L = ............, Malaysia
Q = ..........., Malaysia
R = Manila, Philippines
Y = Leixlip, Ireland
2nd digit = Year of production (2001)
3rd & 4th digits = week (49th week )
5th - 8th digits= lot number
10th - 13th digits = serialization code
they are made in and it's a luck of the draw if you end up with a good batch number are not it's all about how your parts work together as far as the G.SKill 1100...I wonder if this one below? and the ep45-ud3p board go to the thread on here and what people are using and what kinda luck they are getting out of the board and there parts and Compare notes alot people are willing to help I myself had alot of help with my Biostar I45 from here when..I bought it figuring the bios voltage and the different setting to use to get a Good overclock got a 4.5ghz on my E8400 and 3.9Ghz on my Q9550 both on air and I've seen the A's on the chips get pretty high ..I've only seen the A,B's in the states...I thinks the C's are over seas someone correct if..I'm wrong

I have L846B6B2...and I am having trouble getting past 3.8 on air, any advice?
anyone have any results with the following batch
L843B805
L842B068
L846B809
Hmmm...
...i see all the guys with excellent validations near or over mine use ddr2 boards :yepp: ...i think with ddr3 boards its even harder to do a good oc job :(
C'mon guys, soon autumn is here !
LOL, 'some' of you probably thought "hey, lower ambient temps, let's break old records !" ?
Nope, I mean there will be so many new games to play soon: L4D2, CoD MW2 etc etc
I've had it with OC, I'm disgusted by the amount of time I've "spent" ocing this bastard of Q9650....I already got the freq I wanted from my Q9650, but one thing is still annoying me sooo much: can't find a stable MHz to a 1.344 or 1.360v cpuz ..thats anything above 1.3625v bios...
I've had 3 good P95 Blend runs: 10hr 4.1GHz/1.296v cpuz, 4.15GHz, 1.312v cpuz and 4176MHz, 1.328v cpuz (and this with x2.40 mem x TURBO, no nothing extra for MCH volts), so scaling is very poor, some odd 25mhz for 3 notches vcore raise...:(
Q9650 4176MHz
OCZ Blade PC2-9200 1114MHz
Load Line Calibration Enabled
VCORE 1.3625
CPU Termination 1.3000
CPU Reference 65%
MCH Termination 1.3200
MCH Reference 67%
CPU Drive 900mv
VDIMM 1.8200
TIMINGS 5-5-5-18 + AUTO
Performance Enhance Turbo
P95 Blend 8hr OK (10hr with Std Perf. enhance)
If I go 4194MHz with same MCH and FSB volts (raise vcore one notch): always BSOD withing 10mins, so here I must raise MCH (more likely than FSB vtt). 1.32v FSB and 1.34v MCH gives max 4hr Blend time
P95 Errors guys ?
rounding error - inc vcore and u be 24h OK :D
two types of "final result" errors...cant rem them both - inc MCH/mem or lower timings
BSOD - MCH volts too low, this often 1024K test
This morning I flashed the BIOS, from F9 to F10e beta...wasn't successful, no way I could get memory work at 2.40 ratio. *sigh, real deep real one*
Since it was a failure BIOS for my rig, flashed back to F9 and *fingers already caught inside jar* all is working, better than before actually !
Currently P95 Blending 4230MHz, 1.344v cpuz, 1128MHz mem 5-5-5-18 with Turbo...1.5hrs already.
Well i searched high and low and finally found myself a batch# L847C153. These week 47Cs are hard to get. Anyone have any experience with this batch? Ill post some results when I get it.
Hi, I have two week 47C's, I dont have P45 mobo to hand for testing (Yet), just two P35's; ASUS P5K Deluxe and MSI Neo2-FR.
*VID 1.18750, 445x9 4GHz, 1.216v Prime95 & IntelBurnTest stable
*VID 1.16250, 445x9 4GHz, 1.280v Prime95 & IntelBurnTest stable
Also aquired 3rd Q9650 (L846B802) with 1.1000VID :shocked:: Have yet to test this one in any great length, sadly the early results are nothing to get excited about. :down: I guess it's safe to assume all 3 might fair a dam site better voltage wise when tested via high quality P45 motherboard?
Thx for proving that a low VID isn't directly linked to being able to use a low Vcore for the same clockspeed. P35 still is a nice performer but is limited by the bios design. Higher FSB and better fine tweaking (voltages , GTL's, RAM settings) makes P45 better. It allowed me to drop Vcore some, but don' expect miracles from it. (came from P5K Dlx to P5Q Dlx)
CPU-Z reads 1.080v @ stock and limited by P35 Neo2-FR BIOS, since I cant set voltage any lower. P5K Deluxe has slightly more flexable BIOS, so once I get time for some decent testing in coming weeks I'll share the results and pic's etc. Might even have a quality P45 Mobo to play with by then :up:
1.1875 VID chip is stable on P5K @ stock clocks with 0.976v, no idea is that's good or not?
I have batch#L847C037, VID 1.175v, it is the best chip I have had so far. 4500mhz 10hrs Prime blend stable 1.392v. Only downfall is it runs very warm, will need very good cooling with these low vid chips.

No, I asked for the min VID, it will be listed in realtemp like this.
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...apImageeee.jpg
Ah well you never mentioned Realtemp :shrug: Just dl it and reads 1.1000 min, 1.2750 max, which might explain why it's not producing results anywhere near expected - so why would Core Temp 0.99.5 show 1.1000 VID even under load if it's not?
The other two Q9650's are showing a Real Temp max VID to match Core Temp's VID reading...
Well mates beated my own SPI1M record it was a matter of wait a cool day :D

Nice! Congrats Sergio!
Great job, I had one last Pi run left but with a little GUI adjustment (I.E. silver Luna and background) it shouldn't stand much of a chance.:up:
Nice to see you're back with some more wPrime1024M.
How's the heat output at 1.45V?
Very nice Sergio. Great job my friend. :up:
Now if you promise not to LOL :rofl: i will show you the Uruguayan method of benching without phase or chiller, etc

Well my first quick test@4.0Ghz, just a quick superPI 32M...I almost have to learn to OC all over again with this Quad, its gonna take some time.

Hey Andre Wow That's Realy Cool And Cold :D
Nice Work Wery Cold Place In Uruguay :)
What's Your Case Model?
Well, didnt take long to get some CPU stability. At 1.21V I was gettting BSOD after 20sec in P95, just a bump up to 1.23V got me stable (for my purposes) in P95 smallFFTs. I'm feeling better about my chip now, as I hand picked it. I'm hoping it scales well with Voltage.

How do you get 4 ghz at 1.25 vcore??? I had to go to 1.4 :(
Updated some of my previous scores on HWbot.org:
wPrime32m = 7.612sec
wPrime1024m = 4min 8sec 910ms

Have a $250 4870 X2 2Gb + more SSD's incoming to conquer that last gold cup for PCMark05. :up: As soon as I get this done I'll let you guys know.
I am seriously stuck at 4.038 :( I have tried vcore up to 1.44, dropping the divider down to 1:1 and multiplier to 7 with no stability : (
