Also is there any way to reboot ( from bios ) so it wont shut off first before it boots? Thanks
Maybe helpful.Quote:

OK the content of those articles might not prove anything, but I haven't found anything so far saying that NVidia was granted the new license for QuickPathInterconnect. And I really hope they won't. they just deserve that.
Any problems with EVGA 790i and OCZ3P1600EB4GK that non EB has? Had to change my order from OCZ3P16004GK or wait another 10 days.
Thats the last thing I read about this topic regarding NVIDIa and CSI from Fudzilla thats why I thought NVIDIA didnt have the license yet.
And yes I hope they dont receive it because they simply cannot keep up with their chipsets even though 1% are capable of running good.
I just did my best to read through this entire thread (yes all 42 pages) and although I probably missed a few things I got a basic understanding of all the pros and cons of this chipset. With that said where are people initially finding all these BIOS version for the Striker II Extreme that are not listed on the Asus website? I realize people have asked this question but there really weren't any specific answers?
At the moment (in the last 10 minutes) there are only 3 BIOS versions listed on Asus's website (0101, 0402, and 0508). Along with that the website lists BIOS version 0402 as being released on 04/14 and 0508 being released on 04/03. This is very interesting and I can't make heads or tails of it?
Some people have mentioned Asus's FTP server, well can somebody post a link for this? Also is it alright to pull files from this location or is it akin to piracy? I'm no expert with that stuff, hence why I'm asking?
At the moment I'm using BIOS version 0511 which came on my board when it was delivered (bought it used). So thanks for any help anyone can give, much appreciated!
Does anybody have wierd screen flickering when gon over 450 FSB. I Had to raise the PCIE to 110 for the flickering to go away, but then my PC locked up.
I have to play around some more. This could be a driver problem also. I am on XP and will try to install vista and see what happens.
This thread and the corruption thread make me feel sick. I was really looking forward to a good chipset from Nvidia... Has anyone gotten the 4GB ddr12800 G.Skill kit working with this board? I need to know, so I can RMA it if it wont.
I would like to know that too Razor
I would start with BIOS 0511 then work to 0601 then now as of 2 days ago BIOS 0603 which I am on. I went from 0511 and using my Q6600 was able to hit a 1800 FSB. And on my QX9650 I was able to hit a about a 1820 FSB. Then I went straight to the 0603 BIOS and I could'nt get anything stable on my QX9650 above a 1700 FSB. I was aiming for a 4GHz OC Prime95 stable. So I decided to throw back in my Q6600 and give it a go. And again nothing over a 1700 FSB stable.
Thanks Lu(ky, but where are you getting these BIOS files from? I've searched a handful of regular BIOS sites with no luck (tried googling for Asus ftp but it looks like you need some kind of user name and password to get access)? I assume that is where you guys are getting these files from?
With that said I'm going to see how far this 0511 gets me, depending on the results I'll make the change to 0601 like you suggested. Thanks again man, your help is greatly appreciated!

@GAR: am I dreaming this did you originally had a SIIE mobo?
The reason I ask is that I had to SIIE's mobo is from two different retailers but both have the same problem, and my original Striker Extreme is currently away at repair, here is my story of woe :
1) both mobo shipped with BIOS# 0405 (I read somewhere that this was a beta BIOS), which couldn't be updated with the Asus recommended Award Flash or even my trusted older award Flash version 1 .18, so I couldn't get into even the BIOS with my 9800G X2 on my 4 GB ocz memory, although 2 GB and an older 8800 GTX was my only solution.
2) myself and Asus don't seem to be getting a long at the moment. Let me explain. With the two above SIIE faulty, one returned to one retailer and a full refund and the other retailer refusing to take take the motherboard back for a refund and insisting an RMA back to Taiwan for repair after only a week's ownership, post and packaging at my expense. That's not it, my original third older Striker Extreme is on its way back to Taiwan for repair due to the Vista service Pack 1 and the inaccessible onboard Asus gigabit ethernet Microsoft knowledge base known issue I am getting on to four weeks without a high end mobo. I'm sure you feel my pain!
I wouldn't mind but I have a entry-level 1333 FSB ASRock £45 motherboard that runs the 9800 GX2 with a cheap 650 watts £45 win pro PSU combined with the 250 W Thermaltake GPU PSU no problem on my Intel core two duo 805 CPU effortlessly, whereas both SIIE (from different retailers) and my Q6600, 4 GB /2 GB OCZ DDR 3 memory, £98 mid-range ASAKA 650 W PSU combined with the Thermaltake GPU PSU combo twice hasn't even got off the ground, never mind overclocking.
Any EVGA 790I sli Ultra or any other mobo manufacturers fun boys care to educate me as to why I should switch to their preferred mobo after my horrific experiences with Asus?
Cheers guys and girls as I need a lifeline here before I throw in the towel.
Here is a links to the Asus Striker II Extreme 790i BIOS 0603 from (PMP) Also here is another link with all current Asus Striker Extreme 790i BIOS from BenchZowner (0402,0507,0508,0509,0511,0512,0601)
ive finally given up trying to get this striker II extreme board working stable with ocz ram, ive tried 2x2gb OCZ1600EB sticks and 2x1gb OCZ1333 both do exactly the same and crash in windows in around 2 hours of prime95, more if i just leave it idling. in any case ive ordered 2x1gb supertalent projectX 2000 to test if the board really doesnt like ocz memory and should be here friday.
Very, very cool! Thank you much my friend!
On a separate note, despite my best efforts any FSB speed above 1333Mhz results in no bootup? I've only spent a few hours working on it but this shouldn't be so difficult, lol! Thankfully there are a few other BIOS versions to check out!
Aight so here are some updates
Got tired of all of this drama and Im giving a try to the Striker II Extreme (Yeah ya all heard me right :P )
Will see if this motherboard can challenge me face to face :)
Well, if you run them at stock, then 680 780 and 790 are all... fine...
they are just not good at ocing, half of the boards semm to freak out every now and then... at stock speed the 790 is the fastest of the 3, and it supports cpu independant pciE link assertion between 2 videocards, so sli perf should be slightly better with 790 as well.
id say if it HAS to be sli, and you want it stable and reliable, then go for 790 BUT couple with with some 1333 memory and DONT overclock it at all :D
wow.... wow... yet another AWFULL asus expirience... yikes...
ohhh i see, your one of those types then, you like pain and suffering dont you? you probably have a collection of whips in your basement :D
well, crossing my fingers that you get one of the bugged striker boards so you get all the suffering you are looking for :D
your chance to get a bugged board seems to be 50% by looking at the poll, so you have a fair chance :D
well my super talent project x 2000mhz 9-9-9-28 ram arrived this morning, ram voltage is set to 1.50 in bios about 1.55 real and ive been priming for about 4 & 1/2 hours now with no lockups, seems my striker II really hates running stable with ocz ram wonder if this can be fixed with a bios update in the future?
It seems like I got a good board on my 2nd Striker II. Problem is Priming now.
I can't get all 4 cores to prime stable at 4 ghz (400x10) with 1.3625 Vcore and 1.36VTT.
Any suggestions on how I can get it higher/
I am thinking on messing with the GTL Ref ratios..
