I have always run the pci-e freq at 100, have not found that 104 as suggested on the evga forums has helped me with stability so far. As for the LLC/without vdroop setting, this board has very little vdrop or vdroop compared to other boards I have used in the past. I think it is better to not use it when possible. The board does over volt A LOT compared to my Giga boards when using LLC/without vdroop. This is my first P55 board, also my first i7 CPU. I am just trying to learn the settings as everyone else is, just posting what I have been able to do so far. I am new to this platform as is everyone else.

we are over the same boat, mate :)

i'm waiting for my parts (mobo from UK, cpu from Germany and WB from Italy, the DIMMs are already arrived from Ireland :D), so maybe we can give a hand together ...

I ran LinX again using the "Without VDroop" option in bios. This time setting the vcore in bios to 1.3275v, in windows CPUZ reads 1.341vcore idle and under load I get 1.364v, same load vcore as before.

EDIT: there is no 1.3275vcore in bios. Is set to 1.325v. Bad memory, I should start writing things down.

It seems the "without Vdroop" option does slightly different things on different boards (which stands to reason). OC Nub's result above was +.0365 from what he set in BIOS. Mine is +.03575 from what I set in BIOS. The good part is (at least at the two Vcore settings I've tested, when stressing 3.8 & 4.0), it's consistent. So I can deduce loaded Vcore from the BIOS setting merely by adding +.03575 to the BIOS setting. Makes getting precise Vcore when booted up and loaded very easy.

Haven't tested with Vdroop. Wonder if it would have the same consistency?

I was thinking pretty hard about picking up this board tonight. With next day shipping I hoping to have it for a long weekend. I'm stuck between this one and the Asus P7P55 Deluxe. Any regrets with this board? I'm looking for any reason to push me towards the 'submit order' button.

Also, is there any reason to watercool the P55? I have a nb block in my current loop. And has anyone heard of full a full coverage block being made? I know EK says they have board blocks in production for the Asus line.

It's a good board; no second thoughts on using it here. It's not necessary to water cool the P55 chipset. It needs very little voltage increase if any. It's the upgraded equivalent of a southbridge. Good airflow should be sufficient.

I'm using a D-Tek Fuzion v.2 without backplate (ridiculous, I know) but I don't have one and it didn't hurt anything when it was on on a TPower I45 for quite a while. There is a screw holding the retention bracket on that might give people trouble. Doubt it's specific to this board though. The resistor bank on the back of the socket is what worries me. Do NOT put a metal plate without something under it back there.

I just got my rig together yesterday. I've done a little testing so far... the without vdroop setting overvolts from idle when under load and the with vdroop setting shows the more normal vdroop behavior. I can run mine at (default) multi 19x200. I'm having trouble getting the turbo mutli with this cpu/mobo (x20) to function properly. It shows as being enabled in the BIOS (20x200) but CPUZ and Eleet will show the default 19 multi and cpu speed in windows.

I can do 8 threads of prime blend at (19x200) 3.8 but after ~10 min. the temps slowly climb too high and my current cooler can't seem to cope with all the generated heat.

I have very little airflow. Can the last PCI-E be used for a x16 card? It looks like it would be pretty tight getting a block on the the p55 with a card in the first slot. Also, are there any comparisons between this board and an asus board. Which seems to perform better? I think I like the feature set on FTW better.

Dump the V2, pick up an enzotech saphire. They're super cheap and very high on the block list. (3rd or 4th now maybe).

You're absolutely right I need to get rid of this block. Just have no money to get one, even the Sapphire. Maybe when Christmas gets here my family will throw some money our way and I can convince my better half we need a new water block. If not, tax time isn't too long after that. ;)

The new Swiftech block is looking very, very nice. I'm torn between that and a HK 3.0 LT to match this board in all its black glory.

try to contact the tech support and listen what they say ... maybe we need a BIOS update or a Eleet update .. (next days i put a X3460 onto this board)

the seductive dark black pcb with the sensuous.........oh sorry getting carried way with the looks lol. Well the features are pretty good and triple BIOS is a godsend.
