Nvidia 169.XX drivers are being questioned in Crysis

It wouldn't make sense to quote that. However, I will update the OP to indicate that a driver is released.

It's actually an older driver, but whatever.

Hmm getting "Nvidia could not locate drives that are compatible with your hardware" this using uninstall then driver cleaner in safe mode.

Going to try manual install I guess

umm 169.04beta?? or 169.02 whql ... that new 163.75 doesnt work for me

The 192.02 are WHQL too? I don't need to play Crysis btw

edit: ok, so the 192.02 are WHQL now, but didn't used to be, but nvidia goes on and puts out the 193.75 WHQL on their website? :O

Okay, tested them. I can confirm the reflection update in Crysis is fixed. Performance is lower in Crysis (to be expected). I think we can safely put this to rest as a simple driver bug.

Average of 3 runs.

Crysis

All settings on Very High, except Shaders and Shadows, which are set to High. No AA.

Thanks for the update. This turns out to be an interesting outcome. BTW, what CPU, video card are you using?

From your setup you are averaging roughly: min -7 FPS and max -4 FPS difference between drivers.

Corsair 2Gb : Dram 800Mhz 4-3-3-12-2T 2.1v
8800 GTX : 612 - 1500 - 2000Mhz

Btw. Performance might also be lower, cuz these drivers are older, hence they might not have the same level of optimization.

How are cheat pictures off topic? why is a thread against nvidia a flame? I thought the purpose of a forum was to discuss things. why is there no discussion allowed?

I could understand if the posts in question were offensive. You should not censor a thread because you don't like the comments, sometimes you just have to bite your lip and move on. nvidia wrote drivers that had a flaw:fact: when caught they released old drivers as a fix. if it had been ATI would you have been so heavy handed in the thread?

a moderator needs to be less biased. you can post your opinions and links disputing what others have said, but to just remove posts you do not have a rebuttal for is childish.

And as for the driver fix, n-zone and crysis sites still urge you to download 169.04 as the driver. also reveiw sites are sent that driver.

Diltech deleted my post, but it wans't meant to flame on nVidia. Besides it was an old joke back from 2003. It had nothing to do with nvidia's crysis cheating drivers but it was just a joke. I thought even Diltech would have some humor.

Wether you like it or not, it wasn't the place to post those pics, it was offtopic and could be considered spam. He is right. Even though it was hilarious. I dunno what other posts he removed, but some people here take their bias way too far.

And btw, and I hope this will be the closing comment, taken from another forum, and just about sums up how ridiculous some fanboys get.

I deleted the images because, if you noticed, this thread has been volatile. Did you not notice the eruption of flames going both ways bringing up cheating on both sides from days gone past? In normal cases, whether this was about ATi or NVidia, a thread would be locked or removed entirely when this occurs, but I left it OPEN due to the fact that the outcome being as important as it is to everyone.

I guess you didn't notice all of that though, read through the thread again and you'll notice it though. Sorry if you think I'm being biased for trying to avoid an all out flame war and wanting to keep this thread open, but that's not the case at all. ;) The thread isn't a flame, the thread was an important topic, and as such I want it to continue.

It's not being "censored" because I don't like the comments, it's being "censored" because I know where it'll lead as we've seen it happen who knows how many times.

Ok, I've also updated the OP to this revisited article. Odd, I read some people posting that results would be the same as 169.04...:shrug:

I shown in the 169.09 thread that there is problems with these or bad features, one of the 2.
