Wow a lot of banning go around today, I'm retreating to my man cave to bench/hibernate and come back in the fall
Sure man, all am I saying is that 'money' is the number one factor of the list that has a lot of bad influence on every (not just ours) community at every corner of this world. But things like "cool impression, top cl-ass attitude, egos and e-penis" cannot be controlled. If your parents raised you right, then you are right man. There is nothing more to do in order to change the behaviour of any person who submits scores. You simply can't and it's normal.
So I'm the only one doing it just for the chicks? :D
+1
that's the true spirit of overclock
people still cheat even without money involved, someone can't accept to be the second, that's the problem.
money and so on are all a bunch of excuses.
we can do 2 things, give it up and change hobby just because we have a small number of cheaters or continue to do what we love, overclock.
i'm going without any doubt for the second one, probably i will never be the first in the ranking on hwbot but who care about that.
to have fun i don't need to be the first of the ranking.
Girl: Oh baby, look how big it is.
Boy: Yeah, sure it's cool
Girls: May I touch it ? I want to feel it in my hands.
Boy: Ok but be careful, it's not wise to play with my toys.
Girl: What's filled inside ?
Boy: That's LN2 baby and this is my pot.
Mouhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha :D
OMG Dave LOL :ROTF:
WTH! You guys all get chicks by overclocking.
After the GOOC EU 2010, I had this huge golden cup as hand luggage with me. I scored a total of 2 good looking English chicks that gave after overclocking and two grandmothers that for no reason acknowledged the fact that I had a golden cup.
I'm doing something wrong, I think :D.
Girls in these competitions should have their batch in handy.
First letter: Available, Married,
Second letter: Region ( PAL / NTSC )
Third letter: date month etc etc
I suggest to establish another contest called MIL'O' 2010 - Motherboards I would Like to Overclock :D Ok, let's get serious then :)
Food for thought... If you really love the forum and truly believe in the honesty and integrity of those running it, why would you silence those that question that? Why not let the honesty and integrity speak for itself?
Why not allow these discussions go on in the open? Surely there is a truth out there somewhere that will eventually be uncovered if these discussions are allowed to run their course. By silencing dissenting viewpoints and "taking it to PM" I think a lot of issues that are important to forum goers get buried. This leaves the average guy like me wondering what is going on and wondering who I can trust.
Along the way we might have to hear some accusations made that we don't like, some previously respected individuals may lose some of their standing, and some hidden agendas may be revealed; but just silencing people because they voice an opinion that you don't want to hear isn't right.
Banning should be reserved for people who are blatantly abusive. I don't even think those who were caught cheating should be banned form the forum. Just because they've been publicly outed as being unehtical doesn't mean they shouldn't have a voice. If they have the balls to show their face and talk about their deceitful actions, so be it. Again, honesty and integrity will speak for themselves, and so will lies and deceit. I say let people talk, and the truth will be found.
See now Dave, you derailed this whole thread :ROTF:
Thanks :)
Sheesh, none of the girls I have dated have even shown a minor interest in my hobby and you guys are landing chicks that go to OC competitions? Must be a European thing  :D
He bypassed the language filter in calling me a bad name after I deleted a post of his that referenced Hitler and would have further derailed an already loaded thread. I would have been cool with a bunch of bananas, I enjoy a good curse or two, but bypassing the language let me throw the book at him. We also got the Rules sticky restuck so you can thank Bill for that (the rules had been unstuck for ~1 month )
You have some interesting points. We have let the discussion go on. No one has been silenced for an opinion but that guy I bounced wasn't sharing an opinion. He was working an agenda.
From another forum whose sole purpose for being is a refuse of those banned from here.
More to be pitied than hated to be blunt except for the owner who is hard to describe. A guy who spends hours per day just scanning Xs for content for his "forum"..
A sick mess of a human being IMHO..
I posted this on the News section, but I think this is a better place to get the answers.
Excuse me for my misunderstanding of the situation, but didn't they get caught cheating and then own up to it? I mean it wasn't until an official inquiry by HWBOT before anything was discovered. It's great that they came on here and tried to explain what happened and what they were thinking, but that doesn't change the fact that they decided to cheat. And let's not forget what was at stake here, not just a score, but a paid trip and who knows what else, something that should have rightfully been someone else's. I have no ill will for any of them, especially Skinnee, but that doesn't mean I have any sympathy for what happens to you when you get caught cheating. I am going to say it again, they all got caught, who knows if this is the first time or just the first time they got caught, does anyone know? Of course not, and I want to believe that it was just this once, but the problem is that they have thrown doubt into every score out there now with their selfish action. Every time someone gets the top spot, the question will be there "Is it legit?".
I am also unclear on the punishment. I thought it was a 1 year ban from XS and HWBOT for everyone but Andre who got a permaban. I am now hearing it is something like 30 days on XS, can anyone clear that up for the record?
One more question, when I read Skinnee's explanation earlier it said Vapor changed the extension on one of the files that Skinnee tried to upload and this is what started the whole thing, so did Vapor know what was going on?
Changing the executable name is a common thing to do. Driver enhancements are implemented by the executable name and sometimes renaming the executable to something else like.. 3dmark03 or farcry2 will yield more stable and consistent runs. Some benchmarks are notorious for having bug low and bug high runs where something just goes wrong and you get garbage performance. Something as simple as changing the name can fix that.
Are you sure they are not Tranny`s? :p::p::rofl: sorry JK,Quote:

Sad. Thanks to the moderators for letting this topic run though.
Plz elaborate on the matter Jonas... have you ever dated a GMILF
I think a 1 year ban is more than sufficient and a zero point profile at HWbot.
Be honest lads , who hasn't messed up once in his life ? If they learn lessons from it then it's okay for me...
It's nice to know that I can get a speeding ticket in California and then get prosecuted for it in Belgium and Nevada :bananal:
Interesting news and this is only the beginning .....
The mentality was good overclockers change since the beginning there are 10,15 years. Before we did the overclocking for enhanced performance at lower prices. Today overclocking is a competition to gain "recognition" and win cash or prizes (repay these purchases).
A competition created a clans "Team", jealousy and the lure of gain .... and notoriety for some (it's true that we must be at least an engineer to know overclock ...) Ridiculous.
Brands have understood and used for overclocking their business. It was only you to choose how to direct your passion :yepp: .
either we are in competition and all means are good to win and hurt to others. or We take a step back and think before we all had the community before you get his personal advantage.
Still, this is already finished. the cash prizes, lots, sites rankings have buried the basics of overclocking and the tiny community that was originally (by country), it has become global and like all sports / competition, there is no overclocking fun but just be better than others ...
Is the beginning of the end and the worst times are ahead ...
OK guys you heard it - it's all massman's fault, let's ban him :ROTF:
Seriously by the time hwbot launched we finally had a place to collect our results, work on the biggest hw-database I can think of. Everybody could now directly see in which processor or GPU category he wanted to join the competition...oh dear hwbot was one of the best things that happened to oc scene when it went online. Sure we argued (and complained) about the new rules and there are always black sheeps but never say hwbot was the point where competitive overclocking went to the grave...the problem for me is the competitions where money, flight tickets and hardware are involved - and I stay out of them all the time, because that's not the overclocking I prefer!
You read the explanation of him? What is that for an explanation of screwing up a competition? "I wanted to go to taiwan whatever it took, not for the comp but for personal reasons" I think he deserves the ban as much as all the others, no excuses!
I do it because I like meeting the peoples over and over again, still having fun with cheapo GPUs (have a bunch laying at home but no time atm :( ) and as long as you don't need the high-end hardware to have fun overclocking I think you are still on the right way.
I had times where I was very focused only on the top-notch hw and left behind why I started overclocking but when massi told me "get some grip on yourself" beginning of the year - I think I did so :)
Which chicks?! You mean booth babes?! :ROTF:
Mafio I am Italian and I am proud for this!
But take it easy and take a break please! :)
Hiwa was wrong because made a cheat in overclocking competition and it is a right reason to be excluded or to be punished in overclocking communities all over the world. I agree with this.
But we are talking about overclocking that at the end is an hobby, a competition for entusiasts, is something much less important of nationality or religion or ethics or racism or discrimination angainst someone.
Instead your argumentations sound like something very close to racism and discrimination against a person (expecially if you know the personal history of Hiwa), that in this forum are really misplaced arguments.
What I mean, is that luckily, a cheat in overclocking competition is not sufficient to lost citizenship or to be considered like a criminal. Please think about this question before you answer with argumentations that might sound very offensive. :)
He's not Italian so why are you so offended that he uses the flag in profile if he really doesn't represent your country as a countryman? It was an individual effort...it's not like people are going to look at his profile and think "man, Italy is a haven for benchmarking cheaters". No, people are going to look at him and (along with the other culprits) as a desperate, glory seeking loser. So please stop putting your country in the mix and focus on the issue, which is globally, top overclockers are from here on in, going to be scrutinized every time they publish a top score.
i don't give a :banana::banana::banana: if my argumentations sound like racism, like i said before if you read all my post in this topic you can understand what i mean.
if you want continue to take a single phrase without looking at the whole context you can do this.
this is my last reply here.
have a nice day
SoF read my whole post, not just quote a simple line. In general we are on the same scope of view. By the time sponsors and big contest with prosperous gifts joined our OC Village, it was inevitable to prevent such cheating phenomenons . Highly motivated competitions strive people to make wrong decisions. That's all about ;)
Let me rephrase a classical rock song from AC/DC:
There is a long way to the top, if want to overclock.
I would rather call it a weakness, it's not the fault of the OC competition or the prizes as some cheated before. It's just the urge to be on top, that makes them greedy and do anything to get there... sad but it's a human factor we see daily...
Cheating has always been present amongst us and it's an even tougher disease to eradicate then cancer...
Let me rephrase that AC/DC song even more : " it might be a long way to reach the top of Overclock, but the hardest part is to stay there...and to keep in touch with basic principles and moral"
vasgto, I think you're missing the point by a long shot. Maybe a language barrier, maybe not but now you just look like you're picking a fight that I can bank on no one here is really interested in.
Fugger is the pope of dope :p
How this is at all relevant to "Futuremark's Lords of Overclocking 2010"?
@Gautam.. is more or less related to ... Overclocking ....xD
I was waiting to comment on the debacle going. Looks like the spirit of overclocking is not here anymore. IT'S A HOBBY Get some hardware, look at what the pros are getting out of if and see what you can do! I'm not an angel, I like the bragging right too! When I get a score that is up there I'm proud of it! but in essence my first competitor is myself, when I bench my goal is to beat what I've done before, and when I do it I'm all holy shoot! I did it. I don't endorse what Andre did but I will miss the guy, come on, put pressure on him and he will deliver, ( the proof is that people turn to him to get scores!) I kinda like his I'm the best F..ck the rest attitude cause he can deliver. He's a good inspiration that show give me a goal and I'll do it. It's not just a matter that he was able to bin hw like no one even dream but he did it. He's english is not perfect (same with me!) so sometimes he sound like a mofo, but he always deliver. I sure will miss his attitude but that's just me. In my book him and Nick are top notch and motivated me to try again... for the one's who accept to post his scores, shame on you. What will be the point of bragging for something if you didn't do it? Come back strong Andre. For me cheating is when I kill a GT and ask my Boss for 2 weekend of overtime so I can buy another one! Just keep on going guys and read the rules, cause you k now there's shark out there right now that are just waiting to take you down. Sorry for the long post, but it is how I feel....
Wow!!! So not only was the thread closed about AY's banning, but it was reduced to 3 posts. What the hell?
Ok same deal as the thread in news. Locked. This one has also served it's purpose and then some.
