Hi guys
I need yours advices!!!!
One week ago I installed on my gtx480 EK copper plexi block and everything was ok. When I started to oc my card I found out that 850/1700/2000 is stable with low voltage 1V, but when i increased voltage (for example 1.05V) I saw artifacts on the same frekvency, so I canīt go higher. Please, help me!!
all i can do is 1ghz @ windows @ stock cooler and stock bios

modified bios (ocp and ovp off) and a bit better vcore 975/1950/2200 definitely @ surface deformer benchmark :)
Yeah the new drivers are defo nice. Here's my Vantage run at my new 24/7 clocks. VGPU is at 1.137V. Next time i'll slap some chilled water goodness on my card and see how far she'll go. BTW, Napalm looks like you've got yourself a decent card. You need to push it some more my friend :D

When you start to see artifacts that's an indication of not enough voltage to the GPU, the overclocks you are showing aren't from MSI's Afterburner 1.6.0 beta 5. 1v compared to 1.05V is (tiny) nothing, you need to increase the voltage higher and if you can't your using the wrong overclocking program! I'm able to set my GPU voltage from 1.000v to 1.135 volts, I'm max out at 1.135 with an overclock of 852/1704/2100. You can not overclock the Shader and Core separately, you should have them linked!

Hey,
a little update @ warm 34°C water, 960/1920/2410MHz, single GTX480.

Now afterburner sees voltage from the modified BIOS - 1.212 for GTX 470
Anyone have a copy of E-Leet 1.0.7.2? Love you long time!

Anyone have an MSI GTX 470? Is it a reference design?
Don't laugh; I dont know how to tell. I can't find any reviews on this particular card. I just bought one "open-box" and now Im looking for more info on it. I guess they are all 'pretty-much' the same. No fancy cooler or nothing.
Any info would be helpful
Thank you
yeah the zotac and galaxy non-ref card are still unseen in retail channel atleast here in canada.
anyone try to play Battlefield Bad Company with GTX 470 or 480 ??
GPU get very hot, like over 90C, other game it doesn't get as hot as this, maybe about 75C
hey oli that is some pretty decent score my man. :D Do you cool the VRM's with extra fans? I can't get past the 940Mhz mark no matter what i do and temps don't seem to be the limiting factor.
Here's my Swiftech 8800GTX fill cover block modded to fix the GTX480. 30C idle, 47C load and that with an i7 at 4.5Ghz sharing the same loop.
http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/16/swiffy.jpg
I donīt cool VRM's any other way. VRM's are not very hot at the GTX 480 cards.
Between 40°C und 47°C Load are possible 10 - 15MHz Core.
Yeah that's what i thought... the stock plate barely gets warm even at higher voltage plus i got a 200mm side fan blowing cool air on my card. I hate not being able to bench at 950Mhz+.
I wonder if my 226W Swiftech TEC could handle this mofo?
How can i change LOD?
Got a Gainward GTX470 yesterday :)
Stock voltage in Afterburner is .912, after reading this thread I'm thinking its kind of low? Unfortunately I left my multimeter at work so I might be able to measure real voltage tomorrow.
Yes, it is. I went by the EK WB config website which said that the EK FC470GTX will fit it.
They use a chocolate brown PCB with their own components (Military grade!) but it is 100% reference design however there is no nVidia logo so I guess they make it themselves. I fitted the WB yesterday and it is running now, still testing........
Sweet. I am at 740/1730 stock volts atm, but I am increasing clocks quite fast. Just doing quick Vantage runs + some FurMark to check temps. Seems quite cool, I made a slightly custom fan profile and the card has never reached higher than 75c with the fan going up to 80% speed at a few stages.
EDIT: My old HD5870 was a turd card, 985/1260 was max Vantage clocks and that required 1.270v. Anything over those speeds would throttle the score and any higher voltage would really mess the card up with artifacting/flickering in Windows :( So far I am liking this GTX470, getting another one in a few weeks I think!
guys from Romania flashed GTX 465 to GTX 470, source
ohhh, how unlock shader domen in GTX 470 with bios mod
Here's how far I got today, 975mV soft voltage.
Attachment 105062
Somehow I BSOD whenever I set the core to 805 no matter what voltage I feed it, wierd. I think the memory has got some more to give, still :)
I have a favor to ask, can someone provide a link or show me how to unlock the voltage limit in my GTX 480? I have hit a wall and am unable to go further do to the voltage limits of 1.138v, I would really appreciate it! Showing me would be better than telling me how as I've never used any of the programs and could not find my way around them if I've never used them before.

this one, if update my inno3D card from the 1a. version, is that the adaptive power thing ? or what does it to do with because now i can select from nvidia inspector 1.87 4 performance levels, for my 8800GTX there is only 1. i still want it to go lower clocks as it always does from 700 to 405 when not using 3D.
Can you put inlight on this because there are nothing about it and i really want to update.
Just got my ASUS GTX 480 today, been doing some pre-testing on the stock cooler before it goes under my SS unit. Do mind the score i'm only using a day to day OS without any tweaks. Plus a E8600 isn't near as fast as i7 in 05 :/

how dangerous is it to flash a 470 with a 480 bios?
5850 to 5870 was very easy...
Worst case is you turn the card into a paper weight.
wow brilliant post
tell me something i don't know
Not worth the effort, as it won't unlock any SP's :D
Paperweight no, having to flashback to the original BIOS via blind-flashing, yes.
thats fine I have 2 but I seen posts and reports of the 470 scoring higher with same clocks on both bios.
anyone have the 470 FTW bios?
mvktech.net or techpowerup.com should have it at their BIOS download section.
I've run into something annoying with my GTX470. No matter what voltage, my Windows freezes, then reboots whenever I set the core to anything above 805 mhz. Anyone experienced anything similar?
Can anyone unlock my bios please. Thanks

Hmm I am seeing some much better overclocks than what I am getting, wonder if anyone had any ideas of what could be holding me back. Currently I am running the 1.135 voltage but I haven't changed any bios yet. I have tri-sli and all three cards are running at 900 Mhz core and 2100 Mhz memory. I currently score 1818 in Uniengine benchmark with all settings maxed. Seeing some people post 1GHZ clocks and I have my water running through a chiller at 15 degrees Celsius, I was wondering if I needed more cooling or I just didn't get as nice of cards or something?
What you need is to unlock you BIOS in the voltage limit department, sorry I can't help you there! :shakes:
If you finally find a way for more voltage stay around 1.25v if you want your 480's to last! Damn you'll be pushig some major wattage increases, what PSU are you running?

any one use the new nibitor v5.6 since it shows me sod all lmao bar the date and stuff dont show clocks or voltages ?
I can't get Nibitor to read my BIOS in Win7 x64. Anyone else have this problem?
Error is "Cant start driver: 1275"
2 step:
and flash new:Code:nvflash –save original.bin
Code:nvflash -4 -5 -6 new.bin
I cant work out the fermi clocks section, can any one run trough what is what? Cheers
This Gainward card is great! Closing in on 21k Vantage, all air rig. I need some watercooling, we will see what the summer brings. As for % overclock it sure beats my HD5870 :D
Ill get another card as they are pretty cheap in Norway atm.
is there anyone here that have GTX 470 FTW bios ?
i know man I cant find it anywhere, not on mvktech not on tpu either.
Hi Oliver :)
Could you modify my bios for higher voltage please?
Also, I see that I have the 70.00.1A.00.02 - although you mentioned in a previous post that there were a newer bios which performed better. Is that a bios compatible for all GTX 480's, or? (I have the Zotac GTX480)
And one last thing: which version of "nvflash" do you use?
Thx tent
EDIT: I found a newer bios from techpowerup, so hopefully you could modify that bios for higher voltage :) (the .zip called: GF100M_Zotac.zip)
Just a note to everyone outside the USA planning on water cooling a 470 or 480, the only place you can get warranties on them at the moment is at aqua computers when you buy the ready built 470 or 480
set tointo MSIAfterburner.cfgCode:EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 1
or try this
mine wont go over 1.087 either.
unofficial overclocking set to 1
And the xtreme version dont either.
I got something wrong also. No bios mods here.
NOTHING except afterburner.
Also I have had crash to desktop in 2 different games. MW2 and BadCompany2
And the heat that comes out the back of that card is 'incredibly hot'
Maybe I need a new fan profile? My MSI 470 is really very, very quiet.
My old card (8800gt) was "so" much louder; I dont mind a little noise. I guess im gonna have to edit the bios.
Set the fan a little more aggressive, and run cooler. Is the crash-to-desktop due to heat?
It only happened after an hour or go heavy gaming.
BTW.. Texas is hot; my ac is running non-stop.
Edit: Fan Profile 'really' helps this card cool down. I'm gonna play now and see if it crashes to desktop.
wow my gpu 2 reached 105c while playing BC2. The fan was running at 80%
Just reporting my dead GTX480 here
It took some modification but I am now the proud owner of a pair of PNY GTX470s
Current clocks are 750/1500/1727. Seems the memory is more touchy on my cards than is the core clock which I found suprising.
Max load temp after TIM change is 86C* on Furmark.
When running 2 GTX 480s how much power will it need just for the 2 cards? I am debating to run either 2 HD5870s or 2 GTX480s ... This way i know what power supply i will need. Thank you
@Aedubber
A decent 850W PSU will handle your system with 2 GTX 480's just fine.
Thank you Sir, i know these cards draw a lot of power so i wasnt sure if i needed to up my PSU i have now which is a corsairHX850 .. Do 2 gtx480s outperform 2 HD5870s?
Yes. Very much so. Just google a few reviews, you'll see that SLI scales better than Crossfire, GTX470 SLI actually outperforms HD5870 CF in a few games iirc :)
OH ok cool, i was gonna go to the darkside and go to ATI cards but lol i been a nvidea user for a long time. Guess ill stick with 2 gtx480s
My friggin card now only works in safe mode. Been having issues since yesterday. Had to knock down my system clocks to 21x166 otherwise the dispaly goes blank on windows logo...
Should i treat it to some old school micro oven lovin, looks like it's dying and i got nothing to lose.

We patched GTX 470 bios GTX 480 data (shaders/ROPs info) to the address used by the GTX 465 upgrade tool - vcard work, but shaders don't unlock =((
Seems like there is way too many cards burning up ... Looks like I'll have to put a hold on ordering gpu cards .. Might have to stick with the initial plan of running 2 hd5870s .
