Yo Nugzo how are the PI's running? I trashed one of my rams on Saturday. I was really buffered that i made it into the top 7 with my CPU at http://www.ripping.org/database.php?cpuid=634 so i thought on sunday heck i can do 4,6 i'm sure. Well i was sure but my ram not. I found out later that its gone. But i'm really excited to see what happens with my microns when they arrive. I already put my water in the ice tub to do a bench on Saturday. I really hope to catch a top three ranking. And i'm willing to fcuk up my Hardware for that. Lol i was really astonished cuz after my bench session on sunday which trashed the ram i removed my Heatsinks and so on and boy, there was condensation. So if my board will survive the benchmark im going to put it in the oven. Or i could just dry it with paper which is prolly the safest option.

Well the UD3 fried my 9600's and 8800's. My cl4 pi's came in today they booted at 1200 cl5 in the M2F. Whenever new egg sends my board and ram back i'll try for 8gb @ 1200 since i know i have the ram that'll do it. The board may not but we'll see. I have the New DFI UT p45 t2rs comin in in the morning. DFI has been top dawg in the FSB category untill the UD3 came out. Hopefully the new DFI will perform close to the Ud3. If it'll do 500fsb with the quad i'll be happy. So far all the screenies ive seen with it have been with duals. I guess i'll be the Guinea pig. Anybody know release date for the Avenger? Hi pierreandre. Yes seems to be an issue with resuming from sleep atm with this board. Hopefully fixed soon with bios update. What kind of temps are you getting with Prime 95 Small FFT? I can not pass Linpak either but i can prime 95. Just cos you cant pass linpak that doesnt mean your not stable. Linpak stresses your system way way harder than anything else. If you can pass Prime Small and Blend for 6-8 hours your probably just fine. I do run linpack but if it fails i dont consider my OC a failure. Also according to your ss your GTLs are set at auto. You may want to look back a few pages and follow Electrosadist gtl procedure. Worked great for me. Good luckQuote:

I just messed with the GTLs myself, I decided to set the MCH ref and CPU ref on AUTO. I originally had them on normal. When I made the changes I couldnt even boot into windows, and restarting froze me too. Apparently it was the MCH ref causing all the trouble, because I can boot with CPU ref on AUTO...The weird thing is even with my CPU ref on AUTO, its set the same as Normal. Anyone have any input which way I should go with maually setting the CPU ref and MCH ref?

Radaja its quite simple. Open the bios go to mib and set all voltages yourself but to the default values. First thing you change is you set your ram to its voltage f.e. 2,1v and then you begin to set all other voltages to there default: mch on 1,1v, ich on 1,05v, cpu ref to 0,76 and mch ref also to 0,76 (i hope you get it you do this with all voltages).
When you have done that you will see that if you increase your VTT that your GTLS get also adjusted. Take these values as a start (they are exactly the same as if you would let it all on auto the only thing is you now see the changes). It really isn't that hard. Play arround in the bios and you will see what i mean. Also if you 0C your Ram and you increase it from previous 2,1v to 2,16v you will notice that he also ups the ddr refs and the MCHDDRref.
Can't explain any better just do it man! ;-)
For mch ref and cpu ref values, it looks like they are absolute voltages not percentages of vtt.
To make sure that the board uses the default percentage of vtt for these values, do we set them to auto or normal?
I would assume auto would keep the ratio and normal would just keep it stuck at the default value. But the board is behaving weird.
I am getting frustrated with this board. The options are not clear. Why wouldn't you just show a ratio of the vtt which is that matters?
MY 8500 E0 stepping was able to go over 4.5 GHz on air on the biostar board. With this board I can only do 4.1 GHz. I hope it is me not the board, missing a setting.
It may be a good ram overclocker but I haven't seen many 4.5+ cpu overclocks on this thread. People just show ram overclocks and high FSB.
I flashed the bios to the official F5 on the gigabyte website. Is that the best bios to use for a dual-core?
They are in a ratio. I suggest you come from Asus thats why your pissed about the bios. I can understand that i had the same feeling but only for a few hours after that it was pretty clear this board rox for a low price.Quote:

maybe the auto option is a set overclock mode number by gigabyte that varies with your fsb overclock. That is how it worked on the Biostar.

yes i am coming from biostar and asus. with the p5q deluxe, I was able to get 500 fsb on a crappy c0 stepping q9450 with only using 1.35 vcore and 1.35 vtt on air.
with the new E0 stepping CPUs and crazy voltages of 1.6+ , I dont think this board is special when it gets 500+.
it is probably the ram overclocking and the price that sets this board apart but I do not have any comparisons to that yet. Trying to get my cpu running like it used is the priority now.

I'm coming from AMD overclocking almost exclusively, and I'm not used to half the terms coming out of here. I've read the entire thread, and figured out how to use the settings properly, but how do I go about finding out what some of them mean? To me, I need to understand, even if I can't change anything by that understanding.
Also, the rest of my system ATM will be a Q6600 G0, 2x2GB GEiL Esoteria PC6400, HD3850, and a PCP&C 750 Silence Crossfire Edition. HDD isn't determined yet, but it should have little bearing on OC. While i know asking what I should get is like asking how long is a piece of string, any guesses on what I should be able to pull? When all my stuff finishes coming in, I've got a GTX480 for the CPU alone, a Stealth 240 for the chipsets under AC Twinplex Di blocks, possibly some MOSFET blocks (the EK ASUS 3 seem to fit fine) and I can always even duct in outside air for short bouts.
Board should hopefully arrive Monday, and I'll be working to get it installed ASAP (remember, this is going in my custom wooden case...) Anyone care to toss an Intel n00b a bone?

Yes of course. But i also told you if you know adjust your VTT (which you obviously should for a high FSB) you will notice that the gtl refs change and you see what would be hidden if you just let it on auto. You get me now? You set gtl refs and vtt to default. Then make your changes to the VTT as you see fit and then you see that the gtls values change. From here on you can test what gives you stability cuz you got a good starting point.Quote:

@elektrosadist,yea ive done that. so when i move vtt up to 1.28,my cpu ref voltage is 0.81 in bios. but on et6 it shows up as 0.76.so is is this correct 0.81 in bios for 1.28vtt in bios?

how do you know what your gtls are actually set if ET6 doesnt show it correctly (If you dont set them manually), Like I said leaving the mch ref (gtl) on auto resulted in a system freeze. I had good results from keeping the gtls at normal (.76)...but I want to fine tune them now, and try to add a little more stability, so anyone know if I should be moving them up or down?

I'm having problems trying to hit 3.2g. I think the problem is I have PLL locked in at 1.5v and CPU Termination at 1.2v. I can hit 3.0g very easy at 1.24v Vcore and 1.3v MCH and it is very stable in both large and small Prime stress tests.
I don't need higher than 3.2g. Trying to keep this box cool and quiet.

With my first UD3P i couldnt get stable at 500+ FSB unless i used elektros bios template concerning the gtl's. With this new one i could post and boot to windows no problem, but i cant pass prime or any stability test. I just now set all the reference settings to normal and it's lookn good. Just thought i'd share that. normal didnt work for me on my other UD3P.
Can anybody confirm or deny the existence of NB temp monitor on this board? Some people said the System temp in ET6 was NB. I've been running blend for 10 minutes and that reading has been at 36c. I just unplugged the fan that i have blowing on the NB and 5 it dropped to 35c. lol. I do not think that is the NB monitor. It just dropped to 34 and i'm pushin 1.55v to NB.

can someone explain how I can keep my ram set at 800mhz. When I set the speed option off auto and put it at 400 I still keep getting it overclocked. I have tried the multiplier on every setting as well and cannot get it to stay at 800. I have an intel e6300 running at 430x7 and I know it can go higher but with my ram going with I have problems. I'm new to overclocking, so if this is simple question I apologize.

Volcanicstrad37, you will not be able to lock your RAM at 800MHz. (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but once you go over 400 fsb, you will raise the RAM clocks as well. There is no strap or divider that will allow keeping the RAM at lower clocks.
Ask Elektrosadist. He run on chilled water he said he got 12°c on nb on other forum when he start his pc. I dont know where he got that reading. ET6 or IR sensor? I am sceptic about this because there no sensor on nb unless it a p35 or p45 board like DFI UT or Maximus 2.Quote:

I bought the UD3R a few days ago and stuck the F4 bios on there. I have been experiencing weird bluescreens and restarts while stress testing with prime 95 and intelburntest. These programs dont stop and tell me they are unstable, they are just bluescreening my computer. I cant stop the restarts but I can make them take longer to occur. I can prime for around 2 hours on blend before it restarts and intelburntest, when it finishes, comes back stable but most of the time it restarts my comp. Vcore definitely isnt the issue because I get the same restarts from 1.25V to 1.5V. Here are my current settings, maybe you guys can point me in the right direction.

Memory 5-5-5-18 @ 1.92V (These settings were stable on my IP35Pro up to 505)

Dude that is wrong. CPU Termination only goes to 1.7v on my UD3P board. There is absolutely no way you are running 4volts lol. You would be sitting next to a pile of ash if you were. Please re-check. I run CPU termination at 1.6. I would also do as bugjae suggested and change to 400 2.00D for now. Also PLL to 1.4 1.5 or 1.6 instead of auto. In my case auto was 1.8.
Void put both ich voltage on default..it just a SB. Last time I put ich core on 1.2v it just mess with my usb hub.

your running a 470 bus right...stay on a 333 strap to keep it tight..i run 495x9 on a 333 strap..with my PLL at 1.250v.and ich l/0 at 1.250v...just lowered them both from 1.350v..but it also past past with 1.350...put your ich core to 1.000 or auto.....3.00 is to much........you have the same board and cpu as me....what memory do you have it they may not want to run at 960mhz....post all of your bios settings....after that it should only be your cpu termination AKA vtt...and your v-core and memory settings to get you stable...Quote:

To test your system for stability or for benchmarks i would always turn it off. When you are satisfied with your 0C you can enable C1E if you choose too. Normally you won't notice a big difference in the typical pc useage except when you bench, you just help your CPU to live longer.

Funny thing is I have the exact same E0 E8400 as you down the the batch number, lol. I will post up my settings and try yours but you are missing the MCH voltage and MCH reference. What values do you use? Also, I hope you meant 1.5V for PLL and ICH. For my cooling I have a Fuzion V1, MCR320, and a D5 so temps shouldn't be an issue.
((((oh yea and sorry about the typo on the pll and ich voltages i left out the "1"...i run my pll and ich at 1.2500V i edited my last post to correct the typo..and then i double checked my settings..:up:.so your good to go...((((all other settings are on auto and keep values on auto there fine)))).......if my settings work but give errors in prime 95...then send me a message...your probably need to raise the pll and ich to 1.350...but like i said its going to come down to your mem settings because our rigs are almost identical..im runing prime 95 as we speak...and about your E8400 i cant believe we have the same batch#...thats crazy...:D...yea bro you should be able to get the same clock as me its just going to be your memory settings to get right and you should be good to go...im using bios F4....and also my e8400 came from newegg...ware did you get yours?Quote:

Testing F6d, had some freezes in BIOS, all default.
After aplied my personal config and all seems well.
Will post mode feedback later.
Installed F6D no issues so far. Appear to be stable at f5b settings. Running blend while i sleep a few more hours then i'll see if i can do better. Any changelog?
The only diferences i´ve notices was in this menu. I´ll try diferent OC configs.

just picked up the EP45-UD3, sweet board. Having some problems though not sure if its normal or not. For some reason If i have my x-fi elite in the last pci slot the computer will boot but give no signal. The instant i move the card to the pci slot right below the x16 pci-express slot it boots and is fine and windows detects the x-fi. once and a while it will boot in the lowest pci slot, but windows doesnt detect any hardware, sounds like a bad board? Should i RMA? i just got it yesterday from newegg. Thanks guys.
there all just typos..was up all night..i fixed all of my posts and bios settings...im now trying to get it above 500mhz on a 333 strap but its not cooperating..:mad:..ive pumped 1.4500 to the cpu you name it i lowerd it or i gave a enough volts to kill it...my cpu has more potential and my cellshocks are capable i want to run 515x9 1:1 on a 333strap...its got a be some ref settings im not getting right also tryd most of the board on auto...does any one think they have some settings to get the board stable at or above 515mhz....:D...im ready to go big time with some 333 tightnessQuote:

I ´m wondering if anyone else got the same problem of S3 mode fail to wake up after certain high frequency of the cpu. I pretty sure it BIOS-board because I tried on 2 different cpu and other user also reported the same problem.
Q9650 above 4Ghz and Q6600 above 3.6Ghz. Below than that S3 work fine.
Will try new bios and see what gives.

The S3 mode still doesnt work at high frequency BUT it did wake up at 4.1Ghz with Q9650 compare to 4Ghz with F5 BIOS. After 4.1Ghz with Q9650 it just fail to wake up no matter what setting I put in.

i think gigabyte is just renaming the same bios,s or just putting in new mem codes for the ram that wont work for the boards did any one notice a real difference with any of the new bios,s

I been checking the forums for popular 1066 kits and it seems there are many problems getting 2 2GB sticks to work in dual channel mode.

I literally just got my EP45-UD3R a few hours ago, but I must say I'm quite impressed with it so far. Just looking at it you feel you really got something for your money. Once I had it running and ran a quick OC, I knew I got more than I paid for.
