No probs..
On another note does any1 play microsoft`s FSX with this card n if so what settings do you run it at ? so far ive tried 1920 x 1200 with 2 x aa and 16 x af with most settings medium to high and get 30-50 fps. There are also lots of tweaks for the cfg file but does anyone know of any that work ?
I will post some screen shots later...
That is with the settings above but i dont think sli is supported in this yet so is any1 else getting playable fps at higher settings and if so what are they.

anyone else hear that the whql drivers for the 9800gx2 with physx support will be release tomorrow 8/5????:D
since these cards are so cheap now .... is it worth going down the 9800gx2 SLI path ? it works out to be same cost as single 4870x2
cheers
I don't think there is much to gain from SLI these boards,
I am switching mine to my Foxconn Mars, it a crazy overclocker
so i will be shooting for 23k with this combo.....

Hello
i'm just buy my Evga 9800 GX2
you can use ( riva tuner ) to OC the card , see my signature
Hi all!
I am about to buy a 9800 GX2...almost bought a PNY but their crappy "so called" life time warranty scared me away.
Anyway, I was considering the HD4780 but reading all reviews I kept seeing that 9800 GX2 at the top most of the time but I ignored it thinking it was a $600 monster...well, you can imagine my surprise when I saw its price.
I dont think there is a better deal out there but if anyone knows something I dont please tell me before I buy.
Thanks
i just ordered second 9800GX2 with EVGA 780i mobo and with my new 42" plasma , i will have some fun :)
I am beginning to second guess my 9800gx2 choice mainly because I have been thinking on getting a 24" lcd which is 1920x1200 and at those resolutions it seems the 4870 beats the gx2 several times and at others it would seem that while the avg frame rate is lower on the 4870 the Minimum is actually higher which means overall experience should be smoother.
Anyone care to comment?
Thanks
they nvidia physx power pack is available at the home site......drivers support x2........
can somebody tell me what performs better in a single card solution(in their opinion) the gtx 280 or the 9800gx2
Well, I dont even have it but from my research..its all confusing. It seems the GX2 performs better in many games as long as you dont go with a super high resolution WITH AA. The GX2 does well at very high resolution but takes a bigger hit with AA.
Also, the MINIMUM frames is something I am trying to research.
Right now...I am still going with the GX2 but its a tough research indeed.
9800GX2 FTW... The cards are pretty much matched...
GX2 wins in 3dmark06 so :banana::banana::banana::banana: the GTX280 for all I care. ;)
For me the GX2 is a good balance of perf in games vs synthetic benchmarks... and price ;)
How about the famous micro stuttering...is it real or just something that was a problem when it came out and now people that dont even own it just keep repeating the same thing again and again?
people just repeat it over and over again, most never even owned the cards or multi gpu setups to compare. the card is badass for the price.
cool.. here's a link

GeForce Driver v177.83 with PhysX support
This driver supports NVIDIA® GeForce® 8-series, 9-series, and 200-series desktop GPUs, including the newly released GeForce 9800 GTX+, 9800 GT, and 9500 GT GPUs. The driver adds support for NVIDIA® PhysX™ acceleration on all GeForce 8-series, 9-series and 200-series GPUs with a minimum of 256MB dedicated graphics memory. NVIDIA PhysX System Software v8.08.01 is automatically installed with this driver package.
I have been checking you tube videos or any video I can get of the GX2 trying to look for that stutter but nothing so far.
I dont like ATI too much and the GX2 performance is just too sweet.
does any1 seem to be getting bsod/freezing with the 177.79 177.83 and the new 177.92 beta`s. 175.16 are the only drivers that give me no problems and ive read that overclocking your card could be the cause. If this is true are nvidia trying to stop us from overclocking? Like i say 175.16 no problems with oc or in general but anything else then BAM bsod or you freezing.I am now running at stock to see if the problem goes away but im not gonna hold my breath...
i found rivatuner crashed it alot (on vista64)
havnt used it for months, drivers doing well so far, just got the 177.92 and 8.08.18 physx driver.
havn't tried em yet.
Same thing with 179.92 with no overclock:shrug:. But very nice drivers other than that.
didn;t got single one crash with RT 2.09 on Vista x64 , worked with 175.16 , 177.83;89 and now 92 beta series, works great for me [ GTX 280 user here ]
i have used the 79's, 83's and now the new 92's without issue, i havnt used the 16's though hehe
I also have problems with every driver after 177.73. With 177.73 I can bench Vantage on 800/2000/1180, but with next drivers it's impossible. I always receive this stupid error:"Display Driver nvlddmkm stopped responding, has successfully recovered" even I reduce the OC, also this f****** error in Vantage with 177.79 and 177.83:mad:
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/3...coredi8.th.jpg
With Crysis benchmark is the same.
For me the most stable driver for now is 177.73, without errors and freezing.
PhysX dll error is not nvidia driver problem but PhysX , system problem, probably cuda. But I hadn't had a single application crash since februrary when my PC BSODed thanks to creative x64 4GB RAM + issue. Maybe it's just luck , maybe something else :p:
Im gonna try vista x64 cos i think it could just be xp x64 drivers, well thats what i hope.
I'm with Vista Ultimate x64 SP1, but I hope you will be lucky!
I think this is driver problem, because I haven't this error with 177.73 + PhysX 8.07.18, 177.73 + 8.08.01 or 177.73 +8.08.18, but when I use drivers above this one I have errors and crashes:(
But who knows?!
hey all I'm attempting to set up the 9800GX2 I just got in for SLI, and I have an 8600GTS 512mb along with it for physx
my main objective is to have all three gpus folding, but first I can't even get SLI enabled, not to mention assigning the 8600 for physx (if that's even necessary?)
from what I've found I need to find the option for SLI in the nvidia control panel but it's not there, and GPU-z says SLI is disabled
any help plz? :)
btw: Forcware 177.83 Vista 64-bit
In my nvidia cp under 3d settings is set multi gpu configuration the two choices are multi display or multi gpu. pick multi gpu for sli on your X2.
thanks for the reply, and btw just noticed you live in Pitt, I live in Bethel Park :welcome:
Ok so I managed to figure out the SLI option issue, it was due to having the 8600 in, so I disabled the 8600 via Device Manager and the option appears in NV CP, however there is still no performance difference, implying SLI is not truly enabling
I tried each SLI rendering mode and each results in the same perf. as single GPU
I'm going to check if there's a newer Beta driver that'll give me some more luck
(also I suspect that if I physically remove the 8600, as opposed to simply disabling it, I'll get some SLI success)
any more advice anyone?
hmmm.............. I would like to know what you find out because I was going to put my 8800gts 512 in this weekend for physx........ maybe this won't work.... Go Steelers!!!!!:up:
haha yeah for sure :yepp: always good to know there's some fellow enthusiasts around here :)
Ok so I pulled out the 8600 and reinstalled drivers, tried the 177.92 this time and SLI is at least working, not I suppose I'll attmept just popping the 8600 in, though I don't know that it'll be able to run from the existing driver installation...
I should note that my final and real intent with this is to have all 3 cores folding 24/7
Small world, i have relatives in Pitt and Hazelton, plus somewhere way out in the PA countrySide, the only thing you can see is deer and some big nuclear power plant, it's kind of sureal.
hey every1 im from Australia and was wondering if anyone might be able to help with my current oc project.
E8400 (4050mhz) @1.4875v (still optimizing clock speed, doesn't like 64bit at 4.2 but does with 32bit???)
xfx 790i Ultra pcie x16 clocks @120mhz, P06 bios (rids of the nvidia and xfx bios confusion, strait xfx bios over-write)
2x2gb super talent project X 1800 888-24 1.925v wont support duel channel on the xfx (work that 1 out)
x2 leadtech 9800gx2 quad sli config (cc750sc1800mc1100) fans 100% 24/7 177.92 with physx
xfi platinum
seagate 40NS 1TB server hdd
zalman 850w psu
coolermaster centurion
vista ult 64bit sp1
3dmark06
rivatuner2.10
ok with all that in mind i realize the bottleneck issue with the e84 cpu, i hope to invest in a qx9770 eventually as this was my gaming rig (didn't know about the gtx280 at the time :-( ) and the issue with vid ram being shared with the system ram issue is why i moved to 64bit and whacked the page file to 8gb. my issue is i cannot seem to break the 19000 3dmark line, yet i looked at the ati series and they left the 98gx2 for dead, at the time everyone told me nvidia develop better cards and have always been a personal preference but this i thought (with this amount of money and research done) was rather disappointing?
my ddr3 is running at 1800mhz, should i consider decreasing the speed to make the timings faster or stick with 888-24 with the higher freq?
any suggestions as to how i can optimize my system for some descent scores as i am running short of ideas?
also im a bit of a crysis fan, i can run the game with all settings on very high but if i enable AA the game pretty much becomes unplayable, does anyone else experience this with quad sli??
thanks heaps in advance.
Rick.
hey SV, seems you're on all the forums too aren't you? :)
Hey bro, I'm a bit curious about this sub 19k 3DM06 score...would you please give us more detail about that? What is each subscore you're getting?
Also about you're possible mistake in choosing video cards, I have no doubt that even at 4GHz your cpu is limiting quad SLI, also, currently one GX2 still outperforms a single GTX280 in almost all cases (as long as SLI scales well enough which it almost always does well enough for the GX2) however, once you jump to two GX2s vs two GTX280s you're usually going to be better off with the 280s as you're then needing to depend on SLI scaling so well that it can fully utilize 4 GPUs as opposed to using 2 stronger ones
Ideally you should go with 3 GTX280s in Tri-SLI
Also if it helps at all, I have a QX9770 for sale :) We could talk about shipping to AUS!
Hey nflesher87,
thanx for the quick reply, it usually gets 18,3xx to 18,8xx. personally i was expecting over 20xxx, i have never tried it under xp OS though and apparently higher scores are achieved, but i was using duel os but never used xp so i just redone it with vista ult 64. im trying some dff voltage settings and nvidia settings atm so i will c if i have had any success (cross fingers). as for the tri sli i thought about that after i got the 98s and was kicking myself, but then i would have had to get the new xfi pcie edition as i already had the platinum as your only left with 1 pcie slot after the tri setup (that would be insanely awesome tho).
what would be your asking price of the qx9770?
cheers,
Rick.
I have an overclocked 8500 and got over 20k with my 9800GX2, i am looking forward to rebenching it with the rampage, some dominator 10000 and a QX6850, i should start that next week, here is my results from the 20k...
20K
4.5ghz would be the reason i would say plus those real nice mem timings youve got in the description! what cooling and vcore were you using at the time? your nxt bench should be something well worth a look at too
I ran it all on water, and the next one will be water too, I should get 2000 more points from the cpu alone... but that doesn't =2000 more points in 06. But the 9800GX2 is a fun card, or should i say 2 cards.
should be interesting, do you adjust any setting in the nvidia control panel at all? or rivatuner? i did have water cooling, i had it set up perfectly for 2 weeks and then the cpu block leaked, luckily i claimed it all on insurance so i rebuilt it to this day. but i never saw a huge decrese in temps with it, i always sand back the cpu face, that alone i have always found to be the biggest helper then some as5 and a good fancy copper heatsync. but i deff wouldnt go back to water, only due to my terrifying experience with it. i would love to get a phase change system setup though. -30 sound cool!
Actually it was done over the course of an hour, in a race with a friend 2 get to 20k, we both got our cards the same day. But I used the nvidia forceware tuner, I only needed to get to 20k so i hit the processor more then the card. That is why i want to go back with a quad, i get a bump from using a quad and i know i had overhead on the card settings, plus i got killer ram and a grea overclocking motherboard, so this time i am going to take my time and do some real benches and really try to understand what i am doing. I also have a GTX280sc an a 4870X2 that I will put in the system once i feel i have reached max clocks on the ram and cpu. So it ill be an interesting comparison.
I have used water for a while, yep yep, it is very tough to get it right, and you need to get a feel for how it is working and then keep monitoring it, but i like it for stability of tempature,. I find that when i am overclocking with air, i start to hit a wall of heat at some point, witGPU's and CPU's. Plus i love the quads which is more heat.
I might even get a E8600 just to try for the 5ghz club.
Someday i hope to step up to phase, dice or ln2 but that is when i hv lot more spare time and money....
I wouldn't recommend going with any cooling that's sub 0C unless you're will to deal with all of the gunky and messy insulating involved (condensation will build up and freeze on the components) I'd def recommend give water another try, you just really have to make sure all your seals are good! Also go with straight distilled water and you basically don't have to worry about a leak anyway as it's not conductive! So in the off chance that you have a leak, no big deal, clean up and try again :)
As for your GX2s, as far as I know XP can't utilize more than 3 gpus at a time, though I'd need confirmation of that, but other than that I do know that xp generally yields higher 3DM06 scores than vista, my Q9650 at 3.9 and one GX2 scores well over 20k (and the Q9650 is at it's 24/7 clock) on vista 64bit
as for my QX9770, it's an ES and I have it posted for $850 USD shipped, though I might need you to cover shipping since it'd be to aussie, and as well I'd need a guaranteed form of payment, like a mailed MO or something like a wire transfer, but I guarantee you'd have no trouble with me, I have over 90 all positive heat and am on the staff over at techpowerup.com as well as being a respected member on other forums such as [H] and AT, just getting started here at XS ;)
as I'd like to mention, I thoroughly disapprove of lapping your CPU unless a) it already has no warranty or b) you're using extreme cooling such as LN2 as the degree or two lower temps simply aren't worth having no warranty, not to mention how much you depreciate the value of resale!
I can vouch for nflesher87, very stand up guy and good friend, he will do what it takes to make sure your deal goes smooth. I also tried TEC cooling for while and had to use all that gunk for condensation, That is probably the main reason i don't use any other cooling other then air and water, man it just gets messy. But to each his own, and the upside of the mess is Xtreme temps and Xtreme clocks/scores. So someday I will hit it again...
It will prob be LN2 just because that is how the Exp-erts do it....
Wheni want ot be the best, i just watch the experts.....
Go Kingpin, GO Fugger, he's rocking a contest as we speak....
Go XS all the way!
I have an EVGA 9800GX2 SC since released, works pretty good for me. Clock it up to 774/1152 Fan: %75, without having high temperatures or noise problems.
Currently looking for a good water cooling block to have some fun! Cuz blowing hot air in to the case makes me nervy.
It was on an EVGA 780i A1 SLi/E8500, now on a BlackOps/E8600 with no issues... I believe GX2s have a great performance with QX CPUs  Watered 4,6 GHz QX9770 gives me a 23K-3DMark 06, LN2ed 5.8GHz E8600 gives 24K7-3DMark 06, 35K7-3DMark 05 and 111K7-3DMark 01...

thanks for the props SV, I'm still waiting to see some nice benchies with the 4870X2 I sold you!
as for GansG nice OC on air with that e8600!
I'm just a quad core junkie, I've actually yet to use even one 45nm C2D :ROTF: yet I've used almost every single 65nm and 45nm enthusiast C2Q/X, and in many cases multiple of each :ROTF:
i dont doubt your trust, atm i am trying to save for one, as the reason for lapping, i purchase most parts from ebay (with research of course) as it is soo much cheaper than buying it here so there is no warranty plus i dont ever plan on reselling the cpu if i did it would be a complete box.
lol now u guys got me thinkin bout water cooling again, i didnt know about the distilled water not being conductive, if i knew that i wouldnt have screwed 1400aud worth of gear then again i wouldnt have what i got now either. i was using 2 pumps, 1 on either end of the radiator (an automatic transmission oil cooler radiator about the size of a cdrom drive, brand new of course) but i would probably just use the single cpu block, the 98gx2's i find are at a good clock and arent over heating to go out and spend big bucks on those water blocks. i done a fair bit of research and planning before i setup the water cooling i had, so if i set it up again with a pump on either end of the radiator does that sound ok just for a cpu block and a Y peice for bleeding/refilling (no reservoir)?
as for the E8600, my 8400 works great, best i got was 4.2 on air but since i done a bios update and vista 64 i cant get it stable past 4.05 for some unknown reason (not too fussed anymore) but one day i hope to get that qx 45nm beast.
ok i finally got it to complete 3dmark06 again, 18856

thanx again u guys are great help!

That's what I got when I was running my Gx2 before step-up to the Gtx... Man I miss my card.
Then again, I don't know where the clocking of the cards are at...
wow. i didn't realize those scores were for 2 9800GX2's in SLi... I heard a long time ago from the guy that i got mine from that there was no difference adding a scond one.
If they could figure that out , man that would be a killer combo./
well i dunno what im doing wrong, i pulled out the sli bridge connector with sli enabled in nvidia control panel it should be the same as using one standalone card in sli
14127
sm2.0 6513
sm3.0 6037
cpu 3613
Ouch, ok I would say leave just one card in and reinstall drivers, use 177.92 Betas, then test your score, should be upwards of 18k, then pop the second in and see if it scales up at all!
do you change any nvidia 3d settings for your setup?
well if you're worried about squeezing out every last point, you can set all the settings to performance as opposed to quality, but you're having more issues than settings
I really feel that you should do as I recommended and reinstall the new betas with only one card in and see how it does
ill try that soon and see what happens, ive been trying different setting in the nvid 3d settings and lot of them dont make much difference in 3dmark06 there is one i cannot decide where to set it which is the "maximum pre-rendered frames" from what i make of it the processor passes some of the graphics to the card gpu to take some stress off the gpu's? im unsure of what to set this to as i haven't seen much diference. any ideas?
ok just done what you said, with 1 card i got 18,6xx with quad sli i just got 19002
sm2.0 7951
sm3.0 10801 (it was 9xxx with 1 card???)
cpu 3666 (i clocked it a bit more to 4.15 from 4.05)
im gonna see if it gets any better with my timings tweaked, the cards are peaked at gpu 760 sc 1820 ddr3 1120 any higher i either get a driver error, freeze or artifacts blotching up in places.
it still isnt what i would expect from quad sli, what would you be expecting if you get 18xxx marks with 1gx2 and 4ghz cpu? i would expect around 24ish?
as for the issue with loosing 4.2ghz after i done a bios update it is to do with the Vdroop, i had the bios vcore set to 1.5v cpu-z would read about 1.42 even the bios showed around the same even tho it was set at 1.5. so if anyone with a 790 ultra is doing there head in that would be why and if anyone knows a fix PLEASE let me know
Let's make 4 GHz-3DMark 06/05/03/01 tests for a database!
GX2s have different clocks, so we adjust to max stock clock value of GX2s, cooling wouldn't be important.
Then we make a comparsion table and see all the dominant factors.
Possible inputs: CPU, HDD, OS, Driver, Chipset, Memory Size & Timings, 3D tweaks...
Another idea is maybe a free GX2 competition with no rulez...

Hi!
i am having problems playing crysis in vista ultimate x64, i get this message after the screen goes black when loading the first mission
"Display Driver nvlddmkm Stopped Responding and Has Successfully Recovered"
i have spent the whole weekend downloading and trying different driver versions, vista has sp1 and is fully updated:mad:
i have an 8800 gt and it also happens with this as well
i also have searched for a solution to this on the web and any solutions that worked for some people did not work for me:mad:
any help would be appreciated
best regards
flan
^did u recently change or adjust your ram?
i had this same issue in multiple games after running for a while when i upgraded my 2x1gb setup to a 2x2gb setup..i sent the 2x2gb back and found 2x1gb of the same stuff i originally had and the problem is gone...
i haven't changed my ram settings as this a first install
Here is my results from 3dmark06 with 1 x gx2
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...7/3dmark06.jpg
how do those OC or the SC GX2's have such high clocks? 680/1674/2100 i can get 760 core but a mem clock of 1674 i can only get around 1120 and shader of 2100 i get 1820 so do they actually change things on the clocked editions?
Nice score Wilson! im getting that with quad gx2 sli on a e8400 for some reason :(
you're most likely confusing the Double Data Rate (DDR) that people are reporting their ram clock as, when they say a mem clock of 2000MHz, they actually mean 1000MHz
and no, the SC and OC versions of cards are always the same as the regular ones, their BIOS' are just modified to have default higher clocks
ok so im dumb, when you say they are reporting 2000 and its actual value is 1000 if i am using rivatune to clock mine to 1820 is that 3640 in double data rate term or the ather way round? lol
oh and another question nflesher87, are you running 2 diff card in sli? the gx2 AND 8600??
lol you're not dumb, you're just confusing the numbers :)
the shader clock is the one you're clocking to 1820
the mem clock that people are saying they're clocking over 2000 is actually just the regular one that is default 1000MHz, they're just referring to it in terms of DDR (Double Data Rate) in order to make it sound more impressive
and no I'm not running them in SLI, only identical cores can be run in SLI, however I am running them all in the same system, with each core (2x GX2 cores and the 1x 8600 core) folding 24/7
Right, 2000 MHz sounds attractive, that's all...
I found that with my card it really sucked till i oc`ed my cpu to atleast 4.0Ghz and alot of the problems with quad sli is cpu bottleneck. Its always better to use a higher clocked duo than a quad for games and quad sli, that is untill games take advantage of all 4 cores or you can clock the cpu to over 4.0Ghz. When my cpu was at 3.8Ghz my 3dmark score was 16020 and with oc`ing to 4.2Ghz its jumped up to over 19000 and all 3 score`s where better not just the cpu score.
i know there are alot of games that cant take advantage of all 4 cores but i didnt think it would have that much of an affect, i though it was more to do with the fsb speed and cache, also is there any tips for vista ult x64 with oc systems? when i clock it to 4.15 it seems a tad unstable, i ruled out the gpu's cos i dropped the clocks down to stock, my ram is rated 1800 8-8-8-24 @1.9v and it was down around 1750 same timings but i tried to up the volts to 1.925, it wasnt the vcore that was around 1.49 (i used to hit 4.25 on 1.5 but i backed it down) and 90%sure it wasnt the temps, but crysis was freezing, no bsod, but audio looped and had to force shutdown?? ive been wondering if all the ocing and reebooting has somewhat corrupted some dll files or any files for that matter. any opinions?
also my highest i managed was at 4.15ghz 3d06 just over 19100.
im looking into reconverting to fluid cooling again, maybe a danger den rbx cpu block, laing ddc+ 18w pump and a cooling works 32T 120mm rad. purely cpu cooling i cant be bothered trying to cool those gx2's plus the blocks arnt cheap and im happy with were there at, from all your water cooling experiences here does this sound like a descent cooler setup?? i had 1 experience and it went majorly wrong and scared away from it lmao!
thnx guyz.

Pushing watered CPU (better with higher L2/45nm) gives more advantage even without ocing GPU...
As i said earlier while researching this on the internet and found nothing that worked, i found that combining a few of the suggestions together solved the problem for me
because crysis is such a demanding game for memory it could be regarded as a benchmark tool for system stability in vista
1. i ran memtest+ 2.01 and started getting errors straight away, kept reducing my ram voltage down until i could run memtest without errors
2. I installed all windows updates and sp1 for vista before I installed any games and turned Off windows update and will leave it off permanently as i believe it's one of the updates that gets installed while games are installed that causes some of the problems
3. i disabled all non essential services, superfetch, readyboost, search indexing, task scheduler, to name a few
4. I set power management to performance and configured hard drives and monitors to never turn off
5. if you have two network ports and are using only one, disable the second one
6. in the nvidia driver control panel i set
Adjust image setting with preview - Let Application Decide
vsynch - Let the Apllication Decide
In Global Settings - Manage 3D settings
- Texture filtering – Anisotropic: Off
- Texture filtering – Negative LOD Bias: Clamp
- Texture filtering – Quality: Performance
- Texture filtering– Trilinear optimization : Off
after all that i can now play crysis without crashing or that bloody "driver has stopped responding and has recovered " message
my only problem now is in the first mission with the intro sequence of the alien spawning, it is very dark and then the whole screen goes white and then back to normal - is that the way it should be
this might all sound like draconian measures but none of these pointers above on their own, worked for me but when i combined them all together i succeded :D - this might also not work for everyone , i hope it will help

@raptor1, About the f*****g "Display Driver nvlddmkm Stopped Responding and Has Successfully Recovered" error I've found something. Before that I've tested my RAM with Memset, but everything was OK, also I've installed the Windows6.0-KB955302-x64.msu update.
I have this error with every driver above 177.73. With FW 177.73 I can bench with my card at 800/1998/1180 under Vista x64, but with next drivers I've received this error with these settings. After a lot of attempts I found that I've to reduce the clock of RAM of my video card to 1134 and then I haven't receive this error. That is why I'm still with FW 177.73 :(
has anyone experimented with the max pre rendered frames in nvidia 3d settings?
Nickless i also had a sim prob with mine but i dropped it down to 1120 to be safe. some nice figures btw! im runnin a E84 just with a hsf though :( lol
the only time i got around 20k in vista was when i had 32bit and i set the disp res to the lowest in 3d06 to see what would happen (doesnt count of course), but that was when i could run at 4.2ghz :(
my mem clock will barely budge at all at stock... i need a detailed voltmod for these (bettr than the pre-release ones i find on google)
I can bench at 800/2000/1000, but mem seems incredibly reluctant to OC. at all.
in the vgpu mod, do they really mean 100kohm?
No, the card isn't voltmoded yet, it's only under water for now;)
Yes, there is a drop in performance. With my favorite FW 177.73 I make 15386 in Vantage and there is no f*****g "Display Driver nvlddmkm Stopped Responding and Has Successfully Recovered" error:
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/4...7773ys1.th.jpg
but with 178.13 at 800/2000/1140 I can get 15210:
http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/6...7813ar7.th.jpg
When I've turned off PhysX I can bench again with old settings of FW 177.73 - 800/2000/1173

Hey guys
Is there anyone with GX2 and DFI ut DK P45 t2rs plus?
Because with my new DFI board i have realy low 3D performance. I tryed everything but no success. Compatibility problems between GX2 and DK P45 ?
http://www.csd.dficlub.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8012
Thanks for that
are you running with the default 3d settings in the nvidia control panel or have you changed any like i have in my previous post
i am still getting the display error message but not evey time i load a game like i used to , i will try going to Fw 177.73 and see if there is any difference
Best regards

Good to have some extra cpu mhz in there :D
.
Amazing results with these settings. I bench at pretty higher settings of my 9800GX2 then yours, some tweaks also, but my results are pretty lower :( It's possible DDR2 to limit my results that much?!
Look at 3d01- 94426:

and 3d03- 81982:

Attachment 85932
finally got into the 20's major head f*** tho
(178.13 btw)
typical of vista - it works for a while and it starts with the error mesages again
with FW 177.73 it is back with a vengence after working perfectly for a day
it also happens with server 2008 which is a lean version of vista
i'm going to try with an old ati card i have to see it is just an nvidia thing
i will be really pissed if it is a typical nvida / microsoft vista screwup after i paying €450 for my 9800 GX2

can anyone help me understand what exactly a bottle neck is (pc terms obviously)
and what would cause it out of quad sli 98gx2, 8-8-8-24 1887 ddr3, e84 @ 4.2ghz all on xfx 790i ultra?
cheers
A bottleneck is the component in your system that is slowing down your pc the most. It's the "weakest link".
In your case, it really depends on the situation, on the application you're trying to run.
In quad-core optimized games it's your CPU, in other games, such as Crysis, it's your graphics cards. Only problem is that newer cards won't make it almost any faster.
thnx inCore, i decided to go all out when i upgraded and go the quad sli, rather disappointing in the end tho, just feels like the 2 are just a heater, ppl are getting great results with just 1 gx2 thats why i say this. apart from that i really like them. they got sex appeal! lol
A little bit better in Vantage with new FW 178.15 (but only for Vista) compared to 178.13
with 178.13 at 800/2000/1140 - 15210:
http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/6...7813ar7.th.jpg , 810/2000/1200 - 11956 without PhysX: http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/3...13notp6.th.jpg
178.15 at 800/2000/1140 - 15433:
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/6...7815gg2.th.jpg, 810/2000/1200 - 12200 without PhysX: http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/8...15norr5.th.jpg
but it's much better then my favorite until now FW 177.73, because I make 15386 in Vantage with higher settings of RAM 800/2000/1172 :)
In Crysis bench also have increasing from 36 to 38 Avg FPS, Very high, DX10, 1680x1050 :)
I Doubt this is the right place but which is better out of a 9800GTX+ and a 9800GX2 and why ?
Fellow 9800gx2-ers. Have any of you recently recieved bugged 3DM03 scores? like, excessively over 100k for single card?
I've been getting quite a few ranging from 104k to 156k, most of these were under unstable gpu clocks and involved driver fails. What i think happens is the display driver fails but for some reason it does not stop the benchmark and somehow this boosts the score.
Can someone verify that I'm not crazy by running 3dm03 at barely stable clocks, like 850/1170? if the display stops just keep waiting until the bench finishes, even if the screen is black the whole time.
At the end you might have to click on 'options' to get it to display the score. At this point I'm not sure how to get a straight bench out of my card, I can only assume that if it yields a reasonable number it must be legit...
I don't own a gx2 but I think it is the true price/performance champ. When on special here it sometimes sells for 199.99 after rebate. That beats down anything from AMD or NV.
