OK, how do you run a proper regular copy-waza? :p: Isn't copying from SP partition to a system partition and then back enough? I usually had the size of file maxmem+200MB (tip from japanese guys) or the amount of RAM + 200MB or so

sorry for offtopic, but there were a couple of people mentioning eeprom tools to tweak memory performance.
spdtool is just as good as any hardware spd programmer to change subtimings. despite the common idea of some magic supersecret advanced subtimings, there are only around 30 timings stored in a modules spd. and thats including cas trcd trp tras trc trfc and all other well known timings, so there is very little if any room for improvement by tweaking an spd if your already tweaking the memory using the advanced settings in bios and memset. some people might ask what all those dozens of timings on dfi and other boards are, well those are chipset related timings, none of that information is stored in the memories spd.

Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management and do the ClearPageFileAtShutdown = 1
DisablePagingExecutive = 1 as well
SystemPages = 0
WriteWatch = 0
NOTHING ELSE
REBOOT
When you boot into windows make a BIG RAR file (from different files) of about ~4GB at D: Partition
REBOOT
NOW
Fix you frequency and Ram Timings as you wish and OPEN Super-Pi
RUN as much times the 16K to show you the LOWEST time and STOP THERE
Then PICK the 32M and STOP THERE...
OPEN Task Manager and look at the processes
OPEN C: and Super-Pi folder
OPEN D: and the BIG RAR's folder
CUT this BIG RAR file and PASTE into C: and Super-Pi's folder
THEN CUT it from in there once again and PASTE it into D: (where it was before)
NOW CUT it once again from D: and PASTE it into C: and Super-Pi's folder
During this process, you will see in task manager ALL the services loosing their KB.....This is due to copy procedure of the big file......
YOU NEED TO SEE the Super-Pi to be LESS than 250KB so to be ready...
Close those two windows (D: and C: ) and CLOSE task manager
WAIT UNTIL the HD Led STOPS blinking (it frees memory during blinking)
HIT the START button of the Super-Pi 32....
TEST without Copy Waza
TEST WITH Copy Waza
TEST with "CDT Tweak"
AND REPORT BACK WITH HONESTY...

OK, this time I rerun everything more carefully at day time with my eyes open :D
Each run was done twice (I took the best runs but times were within 1-2 seconds max)
Here are results (no records or anything, just a tweak testing). As you can see CDT=CW here. Go figure, CDT needs more explanation or more precise instructions

yup i watched that... and its c:\ to ERAM to c:\... usually ppl would say it start copy from the spi partition....but 3oh6 started from c:\... i did exactly like what 3oh6 instructed and i actually gotten 8sec improvement on the 32m spi ....i dont know if its bad or there is still room for improvement tho :)

rather than discussing how much gain you get from it, wouldnt it make more sense to discuss what times or what performance product or whatever the number vapor calculated, you can get?
if id do the same thing on this crappy work laptop here im sure some tweaks would give me a huge boost since its a 2 year old windows install with loads of crap on it... now does that make those tweaks incredibly good or does it make my windows insteall incredibly slow and untweaked? how could you tell?
and how about the hdds? what if you have a fast hdd compared to a slow one? sata compared to ide? chipset integrated sata or external sata controller? 8mb cache or 16? or even 32mb cache?
this performance product vopor calculated seems to work very well, so why dont you compare your tweak sucess based on that. whats the product with and without this tweak, that would shed a lot more light on things i think :)

I already know how to follow the instructions on copy wazza, maxmem, tweaks and CDT but I can understand many will still not because of subsequent questioning and feedback. Elmor made it pretty damn clear for me.
George: You posted your test results. The important thing all you guys missed out to show is what was the system cache and memory available size when your ran SPi: i) before any tweak ii) after CDT iii) after Maxmem iv) and after CW? (isolate all of them)
Because thats all those things work on and the prefetch buffers. ;)

This was all brought up cause some people thought this tweak would explain why opb reaches better results than anybody else, and that this tweak would explain why he was called a cheater, even though he never did cheat. And now some people try to hard to prove this tweak works well while others try hard to prove it does NOT work well... seeing as how difficult it is to reproduce results and how it varies from each system this is boun to go wrong.
I highly doubt there would ever be results that both sides would accept as legit and conclusive. BUT, there is no need to discuss this tweak and how well it works anyways!
1. for some people the tweak works, for some it doesnt
2. the tweak is a varaiation of the copy waza tweak, a tweak thats well known for a long time and everybody uses a slightly different variation
3. this tweak still doesnt explain the superpi scores that were and are doubted by many
4. this tweak doesnt explain the 3d scores that were doubted by many at all
So to come back to the purpose of this thread, it proves that opb knows how to use the capy waza tweak which produces very good results.
It doesnt help to remove the doubts about many of his results.
I hope we can stop the discussion about OPBs copy waza tweak now and maybe focus on something USEFULL :P
How about listing the different copy waza tweaks we all know and comparing them and then trying to find out which tweak works best for who, trying to find out why and maybe find an even better version of the copy waza tweak that works for all of us? :)

Maybe even a minor detail we do not know about might make a difference here.
That's what i'd like to find out, pulling OPB's jacket.
There must be an explanation why some get better results than others with this tweak, i think it's a little short sighted to say that this tweak is nothing better over "traditional" copy waza.
Reading between the lines at OCX i have a feeling there's much more to it than just this CDT tweak but i might see ghosts though.
So far i still give him the benefit of the doubt but i really hope he can put his pride aside and tell us a little more how this tweak is applied properly.

lets say he has the best copy waza tweak so far, he obviously doesnt want to share it... so whats the point? and even if he has the best copy waza tweak ever, NOW, it doesnt clear him from suspicion about 1 year old scores, especially the 3d scores where this tweak doesnt apply at all.

That's exactly what my last post asked for. Finding out how and why and then replicating it is pretty damn simple (given the right hardware) if its OS related to some extent and we work together maturely.Quote:

So far all I've heard is "maximizes system memory available". In all honesty, I can list more ways of doing that for Windows and they do not give you a +/- 1 second gain ..if you only have 80-120MB used up already (those methods free no more). It's illogical.

Things I see so far are (chronologically):
1. OPB posted incredible times of 32M and 1M @ 3.6Ghz at OCX here: http://www.ocxtreme.org/forumenus/sh...1305#post21305. The explanation for this is the CDT tweak, that's what we have been told personally by him.
2. Massman started this thread with a description of CDT tweak taken from coolaler forum.
2.1. Later, we have been told that this description is not complete. Full description of the tweak is posted at a special OCX section, available only to selected members.
3. A couple of OCX members (Masell, Enoc) have reported that the CDT tweak works. Elmor reported this too (by providing his own CDT instructions which to my eyes looked the same as in the 1st post), but later posted that after the reinstall of OS, this doesn't work for him anymore. After that, he obviously is doing additional testing, and we haven't heard back from him at the moment.
4. Hipro asked the question whether CDT (note, only as described at the very beginning of this thread) is in fact a good copywaza, so the times should be equal. He asked to test it. None of the people reporting CDT to work have done a comparison with copy-waza so far. If I missed it, feel free to correct :)
* Hipro reported it to be the same.
* So did kiwi (after initial report of CDT being better).
* So did Zeus.
* After 3 days of testing, I saw the same as well.
* I have spoken personally to at least one OCX member who has the access to the closed section, and he said he can't get CDT working better than copywaza either. Thus, we both came to a conclusion that CDT must include something more than just the description found in this thread.
So right now, the question to Hipro's answer seems to be "CDT=copy waza", of course (I stress it again!), only when CDT is done the way it is described at the beginning of this thread without any additional registry tweaks or anything like that.
That leaves us basically only two choices (independent of what anyone of us is thinking about the CDT so far):
- choice #1: wait for OPB or somebody else to provide full CDT explanation with any additional registry tweaks and so on not mentioned here yet, and then test whether it provides that big boost.
Personal note: I tend to believe the boost is there, but without full CDT explanation can neither approve nor disprove this belief. Neither can anyone of you, I think.- choice #2: if choice #1 does not happen, this means an end to this debate, everyone stays to his own opinion, and that's it (and it would be very very sad, I think).
Saaya, I think, contrary to what you are saying, this thread is not about OPB's old scores, whether Pi or 3D, and massman specifically asked it in the first post of this thread.
This thread is about CDT tweak, to clarify whether it is better than copy-waza or not. OPB's results posted at OCX confirm this, but nobody else has yet to show a sub 12min48sec result in 32M at 3.6Ghz with a Conroe and DDR2, so OPB is somehow miles ahead of everyone else.
That's the status right now, I hope this clears something for ya all, and it would be nice if we followed the inital purpose of this thread to finally decipher this incredible tweak (and I really hope OCX members help us in this matter as well more than just posting "CDT works, bye").

I am addicted to Super Pi and have been re-reading this Soap Opera from page one.
TBH it has made me think less of some of the people here...OPB as usual remains an enigma wrapped in a mystery shrouded by legend: just the way he likes it :) But the obvious prejudice against him (where did innocent till proven guilty dissappear too?) makes this thread absolute garbage as far as understanding and applying the tweak that was copied and pasted (without OPB permission I may add) from Coolaler site.
Where is the respect? I for one would like to learn something...soap opera is for forgetting..not learning...:shrug:

And, just what I've said earlier, if this is crucial for CDT to work, it means CDT didn't work in my case for unknown reasons to me.

As I started this thread, I believe the tweak gives a boost. How much? I don't know, but I'm planning to find out.
So as the tweak is not completely explained here, there are two options:
1) Force OPB to tell it.
2) Try to discover his way of thinking and try to reproduce the tweak with as little help as possible.
All those who are in favor of option 1: please leave the thread. Who are we to demand the tweak even if it would clear his name from the cheats.
Option 2 seems to me the most interesting one, as it requires much more attention and intelligence.
