Here is something peculiar about my GD70. To unlock it to a quad I have to do this:
- Leave EVERYTHING on auto
- Turn on ACC and ECC firmware to special
- Save and exit
- Then change ram settings, voltages, etc...
If I set my ram timings and voltages the board will not POST as a quad. So try leaving everything on auto except maybe a vcore bump. Then if you POST as a quad you can change ram settings. This is all coming from my experience on 1.5b3.
This is what i have currently running looking to take it abit futher all this on zalman reserator;

Anyone have a list of post codes for this board, or know what 2E is?
Look in your manuel the codes are in there but think it is a ram prob like d3
The codes in the manual are pretty minimal. It only gives you what codes you should see on a normal bootup.
Also, I just found this site. http://www.postcodemaster.com/
According to 2 of the 3 AMI post code sets listed, it looks like it's not finding the video card. Which doesn't make sense for my issues I'm having. ( http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=231008 ).
Gl man :)
Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Tony from OCZ has compiled a list of all the bios. This is very useful. Link
Well figured my problem out, the mobo was grounding to the case. I guess I need to order some washers for the mobo screws. Is there anything else I would need to help prevent potential grounding?
These will work for the washers right? http://www.frozencpu.com/products/34...1161_0212.html
ok im a total noob when it comes to raid and i just setup my msi to my main rig i wanna know if these nnumbers are good for amd 2 raptors in raid 0
im using win 7 7201 build

Okay, the washers did not solve my issue...
Motherboard outside the case. Works fine...
Motherboard inside the case...sometimes boots, other times the motherboard hangs on 2E.
I stripped the board down to cpu and ram when in the case, same grounding problems. I put those insulating washers on the mobo screws..same problems. I took the I/O backplate off, same problems.
Has anyone had grounding problems with this board?
I'm really at a loss here what to do now..it's really starting to get to me..
EDIT:Just thought of something else...could the screws that hold the passive heatsinks down on the board possibly make contact with the case? If so, what can I put on top of the heads to stop it. Electrical tape?
what vid card are you using i had a samilar prob but i was this heavy 4870x2 hanging a lil to low pushed up on it retighten and no more probs
Here one you might already know but I didn't....
I was using Vista Ultimate32 and just backed myself to Windows XP Home32 and a major difference. Not a little difference, a noticable improvement right down to a couple of hundred higher points with 3DMark06 without Bios changes. I have heard reference to Vista and resources vs: XP and now wonder if '7' will be like XP or Vista in what I have just experienced. I think I am just going to stay XP until 7's out and sell the Ultimate resource hog....HMmmmm. Vista's cooler, XP's faster.
Regarding rge 4890 vapour 2e post code prob, I gad exactly the same prob with mine, however I found that changing the psu sorted the prob completely so assumed it was a psu issue of some kind. My modxtreme 700watt just won't work with that card, but both the stealth extreme 600w and toughpower 1200w work fine with it.
Just debating now whether it's worth Rmaing the card?
hey McDown, do you have a Corsair power supply? I read something where Sapphire is having issues with corsair power supplies.
No I have PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W.
Here's some reading regarding the issue too:
